Dancing Avengers: Flames of the Heart - Chapter 2: A Contender's Limits - Episode 4
The crew arrives at Mt. Nahlakri and meets Fazal the Sage, an old ghost living on the mountain. Aliza spars with the ghost, only to suffer utter defeat. Upon finding out that Fazal was once a monk at Tahar Temple, Aliza decides to train under Fazal as his apprentice in order to grow stronger.
Aliza: ...
From the moment they reach Mt. Nahlakri, Aliza finds herself unable to shake off the feeling that somebody is watching them.
The feeling remains even when the crew arrives at the place where the monks were said to have trained in the past.
Just as Aliza senses the presence growing stronger, the crew's pursuer reveals itself, a shape rising up in front of them.
???: Hoohoohoo...
Lyria: Eeeek! A spook!
???: Indeed, a spook I am...
???: No, call me a ghost!
Lyria: That's the same thing!
(Captain) and Aliza see Lyria trembling in fear and leap in front of her. They turn to face the ghost, posed to fight.
Aliza: Hey, you! You were watching us the whole time, weren't you? What do you want?
???: My my, what a lively little thing.
Aliza: ...
???: Hmm, that stance... Girl, did you learn that technique at Tahar Temple?
Aliza: Huh? No... I use what's called phoenix techniques, and they're something that I learned when I was—
???: Whooo! Phoenix techniques, is it? Quite the tasteful name, I must say!
???: I'd better think of a trendy name for my techniques too... Now what would be good? Decisions, decisions.
Vyrn: What's Ghost Gramps mumbling about over there?
???: Girl. You must allow me to test your phoenix techniques.
Aliza: By test, you mean have a spar? But how do I spar with a ghost?
???: Hoohoohoo! Fear not! I haven't been a ghost this long for nothing!
The ghost smiles. Aliza senses a fierce fighting spirit rising from the ghost as light begins to radiate from its body.
Aliza: Hmm... (Captain), can you leave this to me?
Aliza: Thanks. Looks like it's gonna be a tough match, but I won't lose!
Choose: You gonna be okay by yourself?
Aliza: Stan's out traveling and training solo, isn't he?
Aliza: I need to step up my game too!

???: You need not fear. I'll spare you your life. Hoohoohoo!
Aliza: Here I come!

???: Whoohoo! Better than I expected... but you're not concentrating enough, girl. Too many thoughts.
???: In emptiness, even the fiercest of flames can be put out—thus what controls ferocity is the state of selflessness.
Aliza puts all of her energy into attack after attack, but the ghost easily fends them off.
???: Wa-taaah!
???: Hap, hap, eeee-yah!
In a split second, the ghost unleashes a swift series of kicks at Aliza.
Aliza: Ahhhh!
Lyria: Aliza!
Aliza is sent flying, much to the crew's dismay. However, Aliza puts up a hand and gestures to the others that she is all right.
Aliza: Haha... You're one heck of an opponent! I can tell you're taking it easy on me.
???: Mind, skill, and body. Your mind still has a ways to go, but your skill and body are well-disciplined.
Aliza: Is that supposed to be a compliment?
Aliza: What kind of martial arts was that anyway? It wasn't like the art without a name back at the temple.
???: The martial arts I use are the same as your phoenix techniques. They're something adapted from mastering the art without a name.
Aliza: Tell me, Mr. Ghost. How can I master a technique and adapt it?
???: Hm... First, you must discipline your mind—that's where you lack. Temper your mind into one that is strong and unwavering.
???: In the midst of a raging sandstorm, find the path you must walk and don't stray from it. That is the state of selflessness.
???: But I'm afraid you're not quite there yet. Regrettable, but that is your current state. Your fight is but child's play.
Aliza: Ugh...
Vyrn: Hey, Ghost Gramps, who the heck are you anyway? You can't just appear outta nowhere and start lecturing people like that!
???: Hooo! You're right...
Fazal the Sage: The name is Fazal. I was once a monk at Tahar Temple. I'm what you may call a sage.
Fazal the Sage: Things happened and now I'm a ghost, but anyway... Pleasure to make your acquaintance, hoohoohoo.
Lyria: What a cheerful ghost! I don't feel so scared anymore!
Any version of Ferry is a crew member
Vyrn: Come to think of it, Ferry counts as a ghost too. I guess ghosts come in all shapes and sizes, huh?
Fazal the Sage: If I act all scary, no one's gonna come near me, you know? I would be so lonely.
Aliza: ...
Fazal the Sage: Hm? What is it, girl? Getting all quiet like that, are you feeling upset from our sparring session?
Aliza: Of course I'm upset! But I'm also grateful to you, Fazal.
Aliza: You made me realize that I can still grow and become even stronger!
Fazal the Sage: I like that look of determination. I can see that you have plenty of room for growth.
Girl, how would you like to train under me?

Fazal the Sage: In doing so, perhaps you will be able to attain the state of selflessness.
Aliza: ...!
A fire ignites in Aliza's eyes as she looks earnestly at (Captain) and the others.
Aliza: Hey, (Captain)... Do you think it'd be okay for me to stay here?
Aliza: I know I can become stronger from training under Fazal! I just know it!
(Captain) smiles at Aliza and nods, offering a word of support.
Lyria: Hehe, that's right. After all, it wouldn't be like you to go back empty-handed, Aliza.
Vyrn: You're gonna get really strong and come back to us, aren't ya? We'll be waiting!
Aliza: Everyone... thank you.
Encouraged by the crew's words, Aliza turns back to Fazal and makes a deep bow.
Aliza: Please, Fazal! Make me your apprentice!
Fazal the Sage: ...
Fazal the Sage: You got it!
Vyrn: What was that pause for?
Fazal the Sage: Hoohoohoo. Just for the heck of it?
Aliza: Thank you, Fazal!
Aliza: I'll definitely come back stronger, (Captain)!
With a promise to meet again, (Captain) and company part ways with Aliza and make their way back down the mountain.
