Having learned that Kriemhild and Licht both perished that day, Siegfried assumes responsibility and appeals to Gunther to take out his revenge on him and him alone. Gunther begins to chant a mysterious spell, causing Siegfried to scream and writhe in agony.

Gunther: This world holds no meaning for me anymore.

Siegfried: What happened to Kriemhild and Licht?

Gunther: They died.

Siegfried: Then the responsibility for their deaths lies with me.

Siegfried: I am so sorry.

Gunther: If my wife and child had been saved that day, maybe things would be different now.

Gunther: But it's too late for what-ifs.

Siegfried: Gunther, you don't have to keep acting like this and hurting other people.

Siegfried: If you despise me, then kill me and end all this.

Gunther: That's not the issue.

Gunther: You see, you came trampling after the rebel leader because the justice of our beloved country demanded it.

Gunther: But those rebels took up arms because they wanted their own justice, right?

Gunther: Your justice, their justice, it's all the same to me.

Siegfried: ...

Gunther: Because in the end, the weak always suffer at the hands of the strong, and we can't do anything except curse our helplessness.

Gunther: It's only fair you get a taste of it too. What say you, Siegfried?

Siegfried: If that's what you want, then do it. I'll take whatever you dish out.

Siegfried: But you won't lay a hand on anyone else in exchange.

Gunther: Heh heh heh. Time to serve you your fill then.

With a sickening smile on his face, Gunther begins to chant.

Siegfried: Agh! Argghh!

Siegfried's screams echo far and wide as he writhes in agony.

But his cries are heard by no one else.
