SIEGFRIED - Opening

On a day several years ago, Siegfried saves King Josef and his comrades from a monster attack. Upon witnessing Siegfried's tremendous strength, the king invites him to become a knight, promising that it will help him grow stronger. Siegfried accepts the offer and accompanies King Josef back to Feendrache.

???: Groooar!
An ear-splitting roar echoes through the air, mingled with the sound of brutal fighting.
Siegfried: Huff... Huff...
Siegfried: I will... finish this!
Siegfried closes in on his target, determined not to let the opportunity slip away.
Siegfried: Please... Let me hold out just a little longer!
Once hailed as the savior of his kingdom, he resolves to protect the land yet again, unleashing an extraordinary power that eats away at his very being.
Siegfried: This is the end.
Siegfried: Haaah!
Urging his battered and broken body on, he clads himself in an uncanny amount of power, pouring his flesh and soul into the final blow.
???: Haaah!
Monster 1: Graaah...
Monster 2: Grr...
Monster 3: Groooar...
With one swift, fierce strike, the monsters are sliced cleanly and easily in half.
Those present to witness the spectacle are awed by the man's overwhelming power.
???: Wow...
???: Incredible... He took out all those monsters on his own...
???: Hah... He has quite a wild fighting style. It's almost like he's some sort of beast.
???: Indeed... Could he be any more barbaric?
???: Gasp!
Snapping back to his senses, the armored man hurries over to confirm the safety of his liege lord—King Josef.
???: Your Majesty! Are you injured?
???: Your Majesty! Your garments are covered in grime!
King Josef: There's no need for alarm. Gunther, Kriemhild, are you unharmed?
Gunther: Yes, Your Majesty. No injuries to speak of.
Kriemhild: Likewise.
An official-looking man at the king's side calls out to the bedraggled figure, his tone and expression filled with obvious distaste.
???: You there, savage. State your objective!
???: Objective? I was just disposing of an obstacle blocking my path.
???: Do you plan to stand in my way too? I'd be more than happy to take you on.
???: What! You're a madman!
King Josef: Control yourself, Hagen. The fact of the matter is, this man saved our lives.
King Josef: I won't tolerate any disrespect toward him.
Hagen: But Your Majesty! He's clearly suspicious—
King Josef: I believe I asked you to cease this insolence. Or did my words fall on deaf ears?
Hagen: Apologies, Your Majesty! Please forgive me!
King Josef: Now stand down.
Hagen: Yes, Your Majesty!
King Josef bows his head apologetically to the man who stares back with a blank expression.
King Josef: I apologize for my vassal's rudeness.
King Josef: Hagen was merely speaking out of consideration for me. I ask that you excuse his behavior.
???: ...
Silently, the man turns to leave.
King Josef: Please wait just one moment.
???: What? Do you still need something from me?
King Josef: Do you have any interest in becoming a knight?
???: No.
King Josef: Hah... I see. Then tell me—for what reason do you wield your blade?
???: Good question. I've never thought about it.
???: And yet, despite that fact, I was able to slaughter those monsters that you and your subordinates were struggling against.
Hagen: You... You rogue! Watch your tongue in the presence of His Majesty!
King Josef: Hahaha! Stand down, Hagen! This man is merely speaking the truth!
Gunther: I-I'm so ashamed...
Kriemhild: Hah... We really need to pull ourselves together!
King Josef: Allow me to make you a proposal. If you agree to serve under me, I can assure you that you'll become even stronger.
???: What do you mean?
King Josef: There's no question that you possess the strength of a mighty warrior.
King Josef: However... Do you truly believe you could win so handily against the forces of the royal capital?
???: I won't know until I've tried.
King Josef: Hahaha! I like the way you think! I'm scared you might actually be able to pull it off!
King Josef: But if you become a knight and study the art of war, you could learn tactics for defeating forces numbering far greater than your own.
King Josef: And that would further increase your odds of being able to take out myriads of enemies using your innate power.
???: Are you sure you want to recruit me? How would you benefit from teaching me things like that?
King Josef: Benefit? You need to broaden your perspective and stop focusing on insignificant details.
King Josef: I merely saw it in my mind's eye for a moment...
King Josef: A thrilling image of you defeating an army of thousands, using the tactics you learned as a knight.
King Josef grins impishly, making his true feelings clear.
???: Heh... Interesting.
???: All right then. I'll become a knight.
King Josef: Then it's decided. You'll return to the royal capital with me.
???: Guess I'll be imposing for a while.
King Josef: Gunther, Kriemhild. Look after him.
The Two: Yes, Your Majesty!
Gunther: I'm Gunther, captain of the Royal Knights of Feendrache—defenders of the capital. I look forward to fighting alongside you.
Kriemhild: And I'm Kriemhild. I serve as an attendant to His Majesty.
Kriemhild: If there's anything you still don't understand after speaking to Gunther, feel free to come to me.
Gunther: Hey... Quit tarnishing my reputation.
Kriemhild: Don't worry! Your reputation's already as low as it can get!
Gunther: Hahaha... I should've known you'd say something like that.
???: ...
Gunther and Kriemhild welcome the brusque newcomer with open arms.
Hagen: (Tch... I can't believe he'd invite a shady scoundrel like this into the royal capital...)
Hagen: (What in the skies is His Majesty thinking?)
And so the group makes its way back to the capital, each member holding their own complicated thoughts on the matter.
King Josef: Now that I think of it... I don't believe I've asked your name yet.
???: Mine?
King Josef: Yes. My name is Josef.
King Josef: I am known as King Josef, ruler of the royal capital of Feendrache.
???: King Josef, was it?
???: My name is...
