Eternal Blessed Winds

The morning after calming Tiamat's rampage over Port Breeze, Lyria awakens to find the primal beast in skydweller form. Acting as an interpreter, Lyria conveys Tiamat's gratitude and desire to join the crew.

A cool wind blows in the skies above.
Tiamat: ...
The primal beast Tiamat has always watched over Port Breeze Archipelago.
But unbeknownst to anyone, the price to be paid for her blessed gales has been steadily accruing.
It finally comes due. Provoked by the empire's hand, she loses herself to madness.
Thankfully Lyria is able to quell the violent gales of this Astral creation and restore peace to the islands.
Having pacified Tiamat, the crew sets a course for their next destination: the Valtz Duchy.
Lyria: ...
Katalina: What's the matter, Lyria?
Lyria: Katalina...
Katalina: You know you can always speak your mind with me.
Katalina: I'll do whatever it takes to keep you smiling.
Lyria: Thank you.
Lyria: I just wish I knew what this power inside me is.
Katalina: I must confess; that thought has crossed my mind as well, but unfortunately I can't give you an answer.
Katalina: But do know that I will always protect you from the empire. That is my promise.
Lyria: ...
Katalina: It's going to be all right. We've got a lead to follow, don't we?
Lyria: You mean the Island of the Astrals?
Katalina: Mm. I know we'll find the answer there.
Katalina: So there's no need to rush, Lyria.
Lyria: Yes...
You're right! Because it's not just me and you. Everyone's here too!
Katalina: That's true.
Lyria: Oh, and Tiamat says she'll help me too.
Katalina: The great primal beast? You can hear her voice?
Lyria: Well, it's not so much her voice. I would call it... feelings.
Lyria: It's like she's nestled inside me.
Katalina: Hm... That's curious but reassuring, I guess. Having power isn't always a bad thing.
Lyria: Hee-hee.
Lyria: Snore... So full... Zzz...
???: ...!
Lyria: Huh? Is this... Port Breeze?
???: ...
Lyria: Hm?
Sensing that someone is calling to her, Lyria turns toward the voice.
She is met by Tiamat's dignified face staring back at her.
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: Huh? Oh, hehe...
Lyria: We just felt we should do whatever we could for you.
A warm smile of gratitude spreads across Tiamat's lips.
Gratitude for soothing her renegade tempests.
Gratitude for showing her a new world after hundreds of years tied to Port Breeze.
Lyria: I know just how you feel.
Lyria: I had no idea what the world was like until Katalina rescued me from the empire.
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: They're still chasing after me right now, but I'm sure that someday I'll be free.
Lyria: Free to go wherever I want. Free to learn whatever I want.
Lyria: That's my dream.
Tiamat: ...!
Lyria: Hahaha.
Tiamat acknowledges Lyria's dream with a small nod before dispersing into a soft breeze.
Morning arrives soon after.
Lyria: Eep!
Tiamat: ...?
Lyria: I'm awake... right?
Beside the wide-eyed Lyria is Tiamat, now no bigger than your average skydweller.
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: Haha, good point. Now you can travel all over the skies with us!
Tiamat: ...!
Lyria leads Tiamat out onto the deck. The primal beast gazes up into the wide blue yonder.
She inhales deeply as if to feel the wind in her lungs and exhales onto the vista below.
Lyria: I did the exact same thing too. Each full breath I took felt so refreshing.
Vyrn: What's up, Lyria? You're a regular early bird today!
Vyrn: Wh-wh-what?
Vyrn: Are my eyes playing tricks on me? That looks like Tiamat only shrunkified!
Lyria: Your eyes are just fine, Vyrn!
Vyrn: Heh... Those wacky primal beasts...
Tiamat: ...
Vyrn: So, uh, can you understand what she's saying?
Lyria: If you mean her words, then it's still kind of hazy to me. But I can understand her feelings well enough!
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: Um... It seems like she has something to say to all of us.
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: Thank you... for stopping... my rampage...
Vyrn: Hehe! It's all good. Right, (Captain)?
  1. Care to sail away with us?

Choose: Care to sail away with us?

Tiamat: ...!
Lyria: She said she'll definitely return the favor!
(Captain) and the others circle around Tiamat to welcome their newest member, when another arrival barges in.
Rackam: Look alive, you guys! Valtz just came into view—
Rackam: Huh? Y-you again...
Vyrn: Get your jaw off the floor, Rackam! From now on, Tiamat's one of—
Vyrn: Hm? S'matter, Tiamat?
Tiamat: ...
The primal delivers Rackam a begrudging glare before becoming one with the wind and vanishing.
Rackam: Uh... Was it something I said?
Lyria: Actually...
Rackam: What?
Lyria: A true denizen of Port Breeze would have remembered the god of wind.
Lyria: Is what she said.
Rackam: Hey, that's... that's not fair. Who else believed in that old wives' tale?
Vyrn: Maybe you oughta just say you're sorry, hm?
Rackam: But why do I gotta...
Rackam: Ergh, fine!
Rackam looks all around for Tiamat, who is still hiding in the wind, and calls out to her in a loud voice.
Rackam: Ahem. Um... O great Tiamat, if you're out there! Sorry for all that stuff back then!
Rackam: I promise not to forget you ever again! I mean, you're pretty unforgettable anyway.
Rackam: Thanks for protecting Port Breeze for all these hundreds of years. 'Preciate it.
Tiamat: ...
Lyria: Hee-hee.
Rackam: What'd she say?
Lyria: She's still a little pouty.
Lyria: But she says not to worry about it. It looks like you're off the hook!
Rackam: Ha... Haha... Thanks, Tiamat.
The Grandcypher and its passengers continue on their journey, borne forward by a new tailwind.
(Captain) and company are sure to blow past any obstacles that dare stand in their way.
For they carry the blessings of the eternal wind guardian.
