May My Words Reach You

When a flustered clerk at Stardust Town pleads to Tien for help with a group of ruffians, the crew readily follows her to the shop.

The crew travels to Stardust Town to meet all of Tien's younger brothers and sisters.
Vyrn: Huh? We've been passing through some shady neighborhoods, but this area looks really nice.
Tien: Mm... This area used to be a slum run by the mafia, just like the other neighborhoods around here.
Lyria: Wow, really? It must have taken a lot of work to get the town to where it is now.
Tien: Mm... The street children and the mafia were at odds with each other for a long time...
Tien: Things only started to settle down after my brother Feower and I took over.
Vyrn: Gotcha... So this town's a monument to all your hard work!
Tien: Mm... I don't want the kids here to have to fight anymore.
Lyria: I understand, Tien. What matters most is that everyone can live here in peace.
Tien: Mm... That's for sure.
Clerk: Tien! We need your help!
Tien: Slow down and tell me what happened.
Clerk: Um, well! Some customers came in to the shop and started making complaints...
Clerk: The manager's trying to talk them down, but they look like they could get violent any minute now! I can tell!
Tien: Mm... Okay. I'll talk to them.
Tien: Sorry, (Captain). I need to check this out.
Vyrn: Hey, we're comin' too! There's more than one of 'em, so you're gonna need backup!
Tien: Mm... Thanks, I appreciate it. The store is this way.
Ruffian: Do you think we're playing house here? Show us your real wares—not this worthless junk you've got on display!
Manager: I told you! Everything we have is of the highest quality! You're just using them wrong!
Ruffian: The hell you say? Don't think I'm gonna be nice to you just because you're a kid, kid!
Just as the angry ruffian raises his fist, Tien comes running into the store.
Tien: Mm... The products being sold here are all imported from another town. If you have complaints, go and tell them.
Ruffian: Humph, this store's just full of brats selling cheap junk!
Tien: These kids are professional merchants. They're able to get these products from another town because they're good at what they do.
Tien: I believe you should be able to tell that just by looking at the shelves.
Ruffian: Grrr!
Tien: It really makes you look petty when you harass people like this, you know.
Ruffian: Shut your trap! Don't talk to me like that, you dumb brat!
Tien: You want to get violent? Then I'll have to respond in kind.
Vyrn: Let's bring some more firepower to this gunfight, (Captain)!

May My Words Reach You: Scene 2

(Captain) and company stay the night after driving the ruffians away. The crew heads out the next morning and finds a caravan being attacked by monsters.

Ruffian: Aaargh! This isn't over!
Vyrn: Hey! They're getting away!
Tien: It's fine, Vyrn. Going after them will only cause more trouble.
Lyria: Are you sure? Maybe if we catch them and explain—
Tien: That's exactly what I'd do if they were outsiders who happened to stop by and saw this town in the wrong light.
Tien: But they're not. The mafia sent them to harass the store.
Vyrn: Say what? They've got some nerve!
Tien: Mm... This town belongs to the street children, so there aren't very many adults.
Tien: That's why the mafia looks down on us. They think they can wipe this town off the map whenever they want.
Tien: Once our generation grows up... I think things will improve.
Vyrn: Hmm... I never really thought about it, but you're still kinda young too.
Tien: Mm... Bringing stability to a town takes time, but we can do it. I'm sure of that.
Manager: Tien, thanks so much for coming. And sorry for all the trouble, skyfarers.
Vyrn: Don't worry about it! We've gotta help each other out!
Clerk: Thanks, mister lizard! You're going to be in town today, right, Tien? Why don't you all stay here tonight?
Vyrn: I ain't no lizard!
Lyria: Now, now, Vyrn. Let's take them up on their offer!
Manager: Please do! There are some empty rooms upstairs.
And so (Captain) and company spend a night in Stardust Town. They wake up the following morning to find the manager in a pickle.
Manager: What to do... I can't open the store like this.
Tien: Mm... What's wrong?
Manager: Oh! Good morning, everyone.
Clerk: The stock that was supposed to be delivered today hasn't come in. I wonder if something happened to the caravan...
Tien: Mm... Wait here. I'll go check it out.
Manager: Thanks, Tien... Hm, maybe something happened in the slums?
Lyria: Going by yourself is too dangerous! (Captain), why don't we help Tien?
Tien: Sorry, (Captain). Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
(Captain) and company leave Stardust Town and head for the slums.
Monster: Grrooar!
Vyrn: We may be in the slums, but monsters in the city? What's going on?
Tien: Those monsters are attacking the caravan that goes to Stardust Town!
Tien: Mm... We have to stop them. Back me up, (Captain).

May My Words Reach You: Scene 3

Tien suspects that the monsters are acting on someone's orders. The crew finds the monster tamer in a corner of the back alley. He blames Tien for his father's death and sics more monsters on her.

(Captain) and company defeat the monsters and rescue the caravan. Luckily nobody is injured.
Lyria: Oh good... It looks like the cargo wasn't damaged. Let's bring it back to town.
Tien: Wait! There's a hideout nearby. Let's hide the merchants there.
Vyrn: Huh? Why don't we just bring them with us to town?
Tien: Mm... I've never seen monsters like those around here before.
Tien: Whoever's controlling the monsters must have ordered them to attack. And this monster tamer must be watching from somewhere nearby.
Vyrn: Say what? We need to find that evildoer!
Tien: Mm... That's why I need the merchants to hide while we search.
Tien leads the merchants into hiding, then rejoins the crew in searching the slums for the monster tamer.
Eventually (Captain) and company find the man they are searching for in the corner of a back alley.
Tien: You're not getting away.
Monster Tamer: Ugh! My precious monsters... How dare you!
Ruffian: Tch! You and your monsters are useless!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! That's the person who was causing trouble at the store yesterday!
Vyrn: He must've attacked the caravan for revenge!
Ruffian: Shut up, shut up, shut up! Every one of you deserves a good beating from me!
Tien: I guess you don't understand that I spared you yesterday.
Monster Tamer: Y-you! You're one of the twins, aren't you?
Tien: Mm... That's right. I'm the sister, Tien.
Monster Tamer: Damn it! I-it's all your fault! My father died because of you two!
Monster Tamer: My father was in the mafia! Then one day he ended up in a fight against you street children... and never came home!
Tien: I see... Then you have every right to hate me.
Monster Tamer: Don't give me that! I'm gonna avenge my father right here, right now! Sic 'em, boys!
Lyria: Oh no! He's targeting Tien! We have to stop those monsters, (Captain)!

May My Words Reach You: Scene 4

Tien lets the monster tamer go, remarking that she may one day pay the price for her past actions. With a brave yet sad smile, she makes clear her desire to end the chain of hatred with her.

Ruffian: Dammit, this isn't worth the trouble! I'm outta here!
Monster Tamer: Oh no! My monsters... My family!
Tien: If you wield a weapon, you must be prepared to be hurt yourself. It's no different for monsters.
Monster Tamer: Ugh...
Lyria: We'll have to wait until he calms down. Let's meet up with the merchants in the meantime.
Tien: Yeah. Let's go then.
As Tien turns away, the monster tamer pulls out a concealed knife and lunges at her.
Monster Tamer: Graaah!
Tien: ...
Though Tien doesn't go for her gun, (Captain) knocks the blade away before it can reach her.
Monster Tamer: Damn you, Tien! I'll never forgive you!
Tien: Mm... I'm sure you won't.
Vyrn: Gun Girl! Let's chase him down! Who knows what he'll do next?
Tien: No. It's okay, Vyrn.
Lyria: But why? Can't we talk it through with him?
Tien: Mm... It doesn't matter what we say to him. His hatred for me will never change.
Tien: I've done a lot of awful things. For my brothers and sisters... for survival.
Tien: So if I have to pay the price one day, it'll be well deserved.
Lyria: No! You only did what you had to!
Tien: It's fine. Hatred doesn't end until someone puts an end to it.
Tien: So if something happens to me, I don't want you to get involved.
Tien: I'd like to ask that you don't let my twin brother, Feower, or the kids in town do anything about it either.
Tien: I want to be the last one. The last link in the chain of hatred.
Lyria: Tien...
The crew is at a loss for words as Tien puts on a brave but sad smile.
They quietly wonder whether everything she's done for Stardust Town will one day pay off.
