Behold the Ocean Ranger!
Feeling overwhelmed by tourists on the beach, Walder notices beautiful seashells in the sand. He begins gathering them as a gift for Jade.
Lyria: The sea is such an incredible place! Hey Katalina, wanna go see if we can find any fishes to swim alongside?
Katalina: Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Something tells me we've got quite the fun experience in store for us.
Vyrn: Yeah! It's a big, blue ocean out there! Let's go, Walder!
Walder: I-I'm fine...
The beach is filled with many tourists enjoying their vacations.
Overwhelmed by the spectacle, Walder begins to withdraw when he suddenly notices something.
Walder: Hm? Hey, Vyrn! Look at that!
Walder: There's something shining in the sand!
Vyrn: Wow! Why is there something so pretty stuck in the sand?
Walder: There's more over there!
Walder: Haha! You'd never find something like this in the forest!
Vyrn: Walder, someone must have buried some hidden treasure around here!
Walder: Yeah, and just you watch, Vyrn! I'm gonna dig it up!
Vyrn: All right! I'll help out, too!
Katalina: What's going on, you two? Did you find something in the sand?
Walder: Yeah, take a look at this! It's some kind of treasure fragment!
Lyria: Oh my gosh, it's so glittery and pretty!
Walder: Heheh! You are truly blessed to have witnessed a discovery of the great Walder!
Katalina: Exaggerating as always, I see. I take it you've never seen seashells before?
Walder: Seashells?
Katalina: That's what those are called. They wash up from the sea, and while their shapes and sizes vary, they all possess a unique beauty.
Lyria: Wow, you know everything, Katalina!
Lyria: Look, (Captain)! I found some seashells here, too!
Walder: So these aren't treasures? You can find them everywhere?
Katalina: Heheh, no need to get depressed, Walder.
Lyria: Yup! You can't find them in the forest, right? How about you bring some to your friend Jade as a souvenir?
Walder: Now that's an idea! I'm sure Jade would love it.
Walder: It's decided, then! I'll gather as many seashells as I can, in the name of Jade!
Vyrn: We'll help out too! Let's race to see who can gather the most!
Behold the Ocean Ranger!: Scene 2
Walder realizes to his horror that the seashells he gathered have been pulverized in the previous battle. He has no choice but to go into shell hunting overdrive.
Walder: I never imagined there would be monsters in the sand...
Walder: Your attempts to ambush the great forest ranger will end only in failure!
Vyrn: Uh oh! We've got trouble!
Walder: What's going on? More monsters?
Vyrn: No, uh... The seashells we gathered got pulverized during the fight with those monsters.
Walder: After I went to so much trouble gathering them for Jade? How can this be?
Katalina: Don't feel down. You can always gather them again!
Lyria: That's right! You might find even prettier ones this time!
Walder: You're right! It'll take more than that to make me give up!
Walder: Just you watch, (Captain)! I'll find a seashell incredible enough to take Jade completely by surprise!
Vyrn: Haha! That's the spirit!
Walder: Hm? I thought I saw something glitter over there...
Walder: That glitter in the sand can only be one thing, (Captain)!
Walder: It must be an absolutely gigantic seashell!
Vyrn: I bet Jade would be overjoyed to see something that amazing!
Walder: I can just picture her surprised expression!
Katalina: Don't get ahead of yourself! There are still sand monsters to worry about!
Katalina: Sigh... There he goes. Let's help them out, (Captain).
Behold the Ocean Ranger!: Scene 3
Walder becomes the talk of the beach after his fight with the monsters, forcing him back into his shell. The nearby cries of endangered children, however, cause him to spring back into action.
Katalina: Well that was a surprise. I'm just glad we encountered those monsters in a deserted area.
Vyrn: Phew... So the light we saw wasn't a seashell, but a monster!
Walder: Accursed beast! How dare you assume the form of a seashell in an attempt to lure me to my doom!
Vyrn: It was just an honest mistake, really. We all thought it was a seashell in there.
Vacationer 1: That was so cool! You must be super strong if you managed to beat that monster!
Walder: Huh? Er, uh...
Vacationer 2: Wow! This area's off limits due to monster infestation, but you walked in here like it was nothing!
Vyrn: Now I get it! No wonder this area was deserted!
Vacationer 2: Thanks to you, we can have fun here without a care in the world!
Walder: Uh, I didn't do anything, really...
Vyrn: Walder sure is popular all of a sudden!
Vacationer 1: Hey, handsome! Why don't we go somewhere together?
Walder: Together? Well, um! About that!
Vacationer 2: You're awfully shy considering the way you're dressed...
Walder: L-Lay off me!
Walder: The beach is scary... Strangers are scary... I wanna go back to the forest...
Vyrn: Oof... Looks like Walder's paralyzed with fear.
Monster: Groooar!
Child: Aiieeee!
Lyria: O-oh no! They're being attacked by a water monster!
Walder: Hold on! I'm coming to help!
Vyrn: Okay, let's help him out, (Captain)!
Behold the Ocean Ranger!: Scene 4
How can Walder be a forest ranger when there's no forest? To answer this question, Walder assumes the new title of ocean ranger!
Child: Thanks for saving me, mister! You were super cool!
Walder: But of course! Because I am Walder, the brash and daring ranger of the forest!
Child: Ranger of the forest? We're at the beach, mister!
Walder: Gasp, y-you're right! What should I do?
Vyrn: Just say you're the ranger of the ocean today!
Lyria: Yup! And you're super popular after beating those monsters, too!
Walder: O-ocean... ranger?
Vyrn: You okay? You sound kinda mad...
Walder: Heh... Heheh! The ocean ranger, huh? I like the sound of that!
Walder: Very well! I am Walder, the brash and daring ranger of the ocean! Leave the protection of these fair seas up to me!
Vyrn: You get to just change your name whenever you want?
Lyria: Oh my gosh, that's such a cool name, Walder!
As the ocean ranger, Walder overcame countless obstacles...
Few would imagine that his name would go on to become a legend spoken of only in whispers...
Vyrn: Hey! You're narrating yourself again!
Katalina: No need to complain, Vyrn. He earned it this time.
Lyria: And it seems like Walder's finally overcome his fear of the sea, too!
Walder: Whoa! Um, (Captain)? H-help!
Vacationer 1: Wait for me! I'm coming with you!
Vyrn: Heheh! He's still got a long way to go until he's used to being popular, though!
His adventures at the beach will become a story for Jade. The perfect accompaniment to the hard fought souvenir he found for his friend.
