"Dan's not such a bad guy, but he can be a real pain sometimes." That's the general perception family and friends seem to have of him. As the son of the previous workshop chief, Dan was set to take over eventually. But seeing the incredible smithing skills of his predecessors, Dan figured reaching those heights would be an impossible endeavor. He instead focused on training the new apprentice at the workshop, Papa Gunsmith, and came to see his innate talent. When he noticed how well this apprentice was getting along with his sister, he maneuvered to have the eventual couple take over as the successors of the workshop. But this only brought him scorn from his little sister.
He's gladly trained many other apprentices at the gun workshop as well. Though once they've learned the tricks of the trade, Dan tends to leave the work to them and lazes about. At the same time, he doesn't mind in the slightest handling the more menial tasks usually relegated to the regular staff, earning him respect as a big brother-type of figure. |
