Where do I get Astras???

None of these sources other than the 9-3 Boss guarantee a specific type of Astra drop. If you are targeting a specific type in order to recruit one of the Arcarum Evokers as soon as possible, it's always best to use a Globe of the Starways square.jpg Globe of the Starways. Both the Globe and an Astra have the same 1500 Arcapoint cost, but the 9-3 boss can drop up to four Astras, meaning your 1500 Arcapoint could earn you four Astra instead of one.

Other General Questions

  • Does Status Bounty.pngBountyItem drop rate is boosted
    have an effect?
Yes, all monsters other than 9-3 Bosses and the route-specific spawns Aldebaran and Ruby Turtle have non-guaranteed chests that are affected by Bounty. (Castor and Pollux can both drop an additional rupie chest.)
  • So should I Status Bounty.pngBountyItem drop rate is boosted
    everything?
Probably not worthwhile for most players, as only certain monsters have non-guaranteed chests that contain useful drops. Recommended Bounty targets are:
Puppets: Can drop extra Astra or Ideans
Gold Mimics: Can drop extra useful treasure, Ideans, or Summon s 2010012000.jpg Mirage Maker
Silver Mimics: Can drop extra useful treasure, haze, quartz, or Summon s 2010012000.jpg Mirage Maker
Gatekeeper and Sephira Guardian: Can drop an additional Sephira Stone square.jpg Sephira Stone
  • Should I Status Bounty.pngBountyItem drop rate is boosted
    one-monster encounters for Astra?
No. While one-monster encounters can drop Sephira Stone square.jpg Sephira Stone or Astra, these are in a guaranteed chest that is shared with low orbs and tomes. Bounty has no effect.
  • Should I explore all tiles and clear all encounters?
In general yes, because all encounters award Arcapoints. Tickets are time-gated in that only one is available a day (or two, during certain Campaigns), so it's best to maximize the number of points gained per ticket.
The only case where it's not recommended to clear all encounters is if doing so might mean the expedition fails due to running out of TP. Remember, entering an encounter consumes 1 TP even if no turns are taken!
  • Should I use Fast Expedition?
No. Fast Expedition generally awards less Arcapoints than a manual expedition, and never awards Arcarum Fragment. As each Fragment would otherwise cost 5000 Arcapoint to purchase and 30 are required per Arcarum Summon, this is a significant loss.
The only time Fast Expedition should be used is if you are unable to manually run an expedition and the ticket would disappear due to overflowing the cap. (If you are capped on tickets, any additional tickets gained from daily reset are lost forever!)
  • I heard something about farming 9-1 and 9-2 repeatedly, what's that about?
As announced in the in-game update here, rare foes (Gatekeeper, Sephira Guardian, and route-specific spawns) are "more likely to appear in point 3, 6, and 9."
Because these rare foes are likely or guaranteed to drop Astra, it is occasionally recommended to farm the first two levels of one of these stages hoping for rare spawns and then retreating before fighting the boss in the third level.
While this can increase your short-term Astra gain, it will impact your long-term progression on Ideans (which cannot be purchased from the shop) and you are permanently losing 200 Arcapoints per ticket due to missing out on the checkpoint clear reward.
  • What should I buy with points?
Astra, if you are working on an Evoker. Otherwise, see Spending Points and Support Items for recommendations.
  • How many points/Astra can I expect per ticket?
About 7,000 points and 3 Astra. Keep in mind that Astra are primarily going to be from rare spawns, which (as noted above) are more likely to appear on stages 3, 6, and 9.

Arcarum Team Building: MC Classes

The ability to bypass defense and elemental resistance is key to clearing Arcarum encounters efficiently. Thus, the most efficient Arcarum teams will utilize plain and superior element damage. Note that Plain damage is halved in Extreme difficulty Arcarum!

Gladiator

The Gladiator and Chrysaor classes are excellent for two reasons: Decimate and Proximo

  • Class Skill: Ability Decimate.png Decimate5-hit, 100% superior elemental damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~81,000 per hit).
When an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section is equipped: Number of hits doubles to 10.
    • Always deals superior element damage. Players can bring their strongest grid regardless of what element the enemy encounter is.
    • While it can be used a subskill for any class, the number of hits is doubled if an auxiliary weapon is equipped, and only Gladiator and Chrysaor can currently equip an auxiliary weapon.
  • Class Weapon: Weapon s 1040017300.jpg Proximo (NOT Weapon s 1040018100 note.jpg Wasserspeier)
    • Proximo's passive bonus increases skill damage and applies to both sets of Decimate for a total of 14 superior element hits.
  • Recommended Subskills

: Best for single-monster encounters and for boosting your bar toward a Charge Attack in case you don't have the skill damage to finish an encounter and might need to attack for a few turns.

Gladiator Full Auto Setup

For players with access to Chrysaor, Ability Decimate.png Decimate5-hit, 100% superior elemental damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~81,000 per hit).
When an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section is equipped: Number of hits doubles to 10.
, and Weapon s 1040017300.jpg Proximo, it is possible to efficiently full auto most Arcarum encounters.

This setup should include:

  • Chrysaor
  • Ability Decimate.png Decimate5-hit, 100% superior elemental damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~81,000 per hit).
When an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section is equipped: Number of hits doubles to 10.

Mechanic

The Mechanic class is an excellent choice for players who haven't yet recruited Threo and is also very useful for R/SR-only stages.

  • Recommended Companion Loadout (Multiple Monsters)

  • Recommended Companion Loadout (Single Monster)
Power Unit - Any
Action Unit - Energy Maneuver
Gives each ally 10% charge bar (pre-modifiers) per Power Cell, allowing your team to full burst on Turn 1.

Nighthound

The Nighthound class can bring four extremely potent damage skills and has innate skill damage bonuses. Unfortunately, this applies only to the Tier IV class, as earlier classes such as Sidewinder do not have access to as many damaging skills.

Swordmaster

The Swordmaster and Glorybringer classes can deal Plain Damage when certain weapons are equipped. A list of available weapons can be found here. Because damage dealt is directly proportional to your MC's maximum HP, a team that focuses on this class will benefit from having weapons with HP skills instead of Attack skills. See HP Up skills and Attack & HP Up skills.

All versions of Lunalu have the ability to copy an ally's skill, though only the SSR version is guaranteed to succeed (assuming the skill can be copied). Note, however, that the copied skill will use her stats, so copying an ability that relies on her attack power will not be particularly effective unless you are running a Dark grid.

Notable Rs

Ideally, players should use Chrysaor, Mechanic, or Swordmaster classes to carry R-only stages. However, players with weaker grids may find it necessary to use R characters with buffs or skill damage to help clear.

Spending Points

Due to how many Astra (314 of them)108 for the summon
200 for the card

are required to recruit an Evoker, it's generally recommended to spend your Arcarum points on Astra. For those who have not decided upon an Evoker to recruit, or have no interest in recruiting one, other notable purchases include:

While not a core character for Wind, her damage and utility are both excellent and earn her a place on many Wind teams. All Hard routes must be cleared at least once to access this character.
Used for upgrading summons. As these are useful at all stages of the game and are quite limited, this is the recommended purchase if Monika is not desired or already obtained.
These are only recommended for players who prefer to stack up badges and use many of them at once.
Purchasing both Weekly Limit Upgrades is NOT recommended as it is generally difficult to exceed earning 20,000 points a week.
These drop rarely and are only guaranteed from the 9-3 boss and special spawns. Each of the ten Arcarum Summons requires 107 to fully uncap so 642 is the minimum required for players only interested in uncapping the summons with damage increasing auras. Sephira Stones are the recommended purchase for players working on summons instead of Evokers.

Sephira Weapons

In general, Sephira weapons can be safely reduced or used to skill level other weapons. A few are notable as filler or for specific uses.

Can be used to deal Plain Damage when equipped by Swordmaster or Glorybringer. Also acceptable filler for Earth grids while working on obtaining Yggdrasil Crystal Blade Omega square.jpg Yggdrasil Crystal Blade Omega.
Water guns are not very common, and this can be used as a mainhand for classes that require a gun. Also acceptable filler for Water grids while working on obtaining Leviathan Gaze Omega square.jpg Leviathan Gaze Omega.
Fire spears are not very common at early rank levels, and this can be used as a mainhand for classes that require a spear. Also acceptable filler for Fire grids while working on obtaining Colossus Cane Omega square.jpg Colossus Cane Omega.
Water harps are not very common, and this can be used as a mainhand for classes that require a harp until Weapon s 1040809700.jpg Dante's Harp or Tyros Zither square.jpg Tyros Zither are obtained.

Support Items

Items must be purchased BEFORE starting an expedition!

With one exception1, support items you purchase will NOT be available for an in-progress expedition, and will only be available for use during expeditions started after the item is purchased. If you expect to need items, check your stock before starting an expedition! (Unused items will remain available in future expeditions until used.)

Most items are not worth purchasing unless you are struggling with clearing a stage, but having at least one of each of the following on hand for emergencies can be useful.

Bravery Tonic square.jpg Bravery Tonic

  • Restores 10 TP.
  • Only usable once per expedition, even if you have more than one.
  • If you run out of TP during a battle or while exploring the map, you will automatically be prompted with the option to use a Tonic if you have one on hand.

Globe of the Starways square.jpg Globe of the Starways

  • 1 Unlike other items, a purchased Globe is immediately available for use, even for an in-progress expedition.
  • These are useful if farming a stage 9-3 boss for Ideans or Astras. If you are looking specifically for Astra, note that all 9-3 Bosses are guaranteed to drop at least two Astra of their respective element! Thus, the 1500 Arcapoint cost of a globe always nets you at least one Astra (also 1500 points) and can earn you up to four Astra.

Mighty Cure-All square.jpg Mighty Cure-All

  • Functions as an Arcarum-only Full Elixir square.jpg Full Elixir.
  • Only usable once per expedition, even if you have more than one.

Rejuvewort square.jpg Rejuvewort

on your entire party on Turn 1. This is a Dark-element monster that will only appear in two-monster encounters and has the preview name of Dark Gremlin.
  • If you see a Dark Gremlin, bringing a character with Ability ClearAll.png ClarityRemove 1 debuff from all parties. and using a Rejuvewort on that character will allow your team to use skills as normal.

that cannot be dispelled. For players with relatively strong grids, it is recommended to burst this enemy down with a full chain using Mechanic or Bonito.

[Legacy] Before the June 2020 patch, it was possible to wait 2 hoursAs raids have a time limit under two hours, this is the maximum time for which buff/debuff information is currently stored. Note that all buffs - including those on allies! - will disappear after this two hour duration. for the Dispel effect to timeout and disappear, but this is no longer possible as Arcarum fights are now limited to 90 minutes.
