This page is intended to inform readers of the use cases of New World Quartz square.jpg New World Quartz and why you might want to prioritize using it to obtain your Arcarum summons/Evokers versus using it for the New World Foundation Weapons. I will be updating this page as frequently as I can as all the new toys and tools come out.

Introduction and Usage

With the debut of the Arcarum Sandbox, we received brand new resource: New World Quartz square.jpg New World Quartz (NWQ).

While it is NOT recommended, one can trade a single NWQ for a variety of Arcarum materials. One NWQ will give you one option of the following:

NWQ also serves to purchase and uncap the New World Foundation Weapons, which is the overall preferred usage for NWQ. These weapons are only obtained from the trade shop once you've recruited their respective Evoker. The cost of NWQ are outline below and requires a total of 90 NWQ to purchase and fully upgrade one to 5★. Fully uncapping these weapons will give access to the respective Domain of the Evoker EMPs. Fully maxing out both the weapon and the Domain are required for Evoker FLB uncaps.

How to Obtain NWQ

There are several ways to obtain New World Quartz by playing the game, outlined below. As of now, there are 84 pieces of NWQ available without participating in any events (i.e. using Sandbox missions and Arcarum Point shop exclusively) to fully uncap one (1) New World Foundation weapon to 4★ - needing only 6 more to raise that weapon to 5★.

Here I will outline why you may or may not want to use your New World Quartz to speed up Arcarum summon rarity or Evoker recruitment.

Please understand that under normal circumstances, you really shouldn't use your NWQ this way unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing. Plan accordingly.

Without a doubt, relatively quick and easy access to time-gated materials will serve you well in getting these summons and characters much faster than you would normally. However, with the release of the Replicard Sandbox, a farming source for Arcarum materials is accessible at all times once you clear all paths in the "Extreme" quests tab. The second tier (with its greatly improved drop rates), "Here be Swords," is available upon recruiting your first Evoker. While you are subject to the whims of RNG (especially in the first tier) you can farm everything out with enough time and patience as a means to supplement your resource income from Arcarum: The World Beyond.

Generally speaking though, this will take a very long time. Using NWQ for these materials can speed up summon acquisition and recruit your Evokers of choice. But, as previously mentioned above, there are only 84 NWQ available at any given point in time outside of events; not nearly enough for all of the good stuff. Future Quartz restock of the Arcarum shop will be very erratic at best or non-existent at worst. Within rotating events, two of the three events are rather strict.

  • Unite and Fight demands that you recruit all the Eternals before you can even consider choosing the quartz as a drawbox reward.
  • Tower of Babyl may not be as accessible to some players as some of the challenges are very character or grid dependent.
  • The Tales of Arcarum series of events is the easiest of the three, allowing you to earn 20+ NWQ each run without too much effort, which will definitely help lighten the load depending on how often this event appears. Regularity of this new event will dictate how freely you may consider spending your quartz moving forward.

Gameplay wise, quick access to higher tiered summons brings very tangible benefits to your teams:
  • 10% damage amplify for on-element content or a 30% HP boost, both of which certainly will allow you to contribute more in a variety of content in terms of pure damage and survivability.
  • A number of these summons also boast their unique call effects, which can be the cornerstone of farming strategies (i.e. Death, The Sun)
  • Generally solid stats each summon brings if you're lacking in the premium options.
  • Finally, Evoker access once the respective Summon is at 5*

As to their respective evokers, many have carved themselves a small niche.
  • Purely used for the backline passive (Non-FLB Caim for Earth Highlander setups)
  • Entry from backline to enable certain strategies - (Lobelia for Earth HL skill-based setups, FLB Nier as an offensive skill damage DPS, etc.).
  • Some of them even function as part of the main party without backline entry and serve as the core of some strategies (i.e. Nier and Alanaan for their respective elemental bursting teams, Estarriola for automatic utility, etc.).

As the metagame continues to shift, some have fallen out of favor (i.e. Npc s 3040167000 01.jpg Alanaan after the advent of the Npc s 3040440000 01.jpg Michael, Npc s 3040425000 01.jpg Percival (Grand) and Npc s 3040381000 01.jpg Wilnas setups). On the other hand, others are only now stepping into the limelight as new synergistic options are released into the game (i.e. Summon s 2040411000.jpg Belial (Summer) and Npc s 3040427000 01.jpg Lich (Halloween) synergizing with Npc s 3040166000 01.jpg Katzelia), or their FLB potential has made other playstyles very competitive (i.e. Nier and Caim).

It should be noted that phased out setups that take advantage of Evokers are not inherently obsolete - they will still serve you well if you cannot access anything better.
Now we start to look beyond the pure logistics in the game, we begin to mention the logistics behind you playing the game. This is an extremely personal case-by-case situation. It's part of the whole "marathon" vs. "sprint" mindset that GBF is all about. The time one has available to play the game is a resource in-and-of-itself. Theoretically, everyone has the time to farm up the Evokers. However, I cannot say that everyone will have enough time to farm these summons and characters out normally. Extenuating circumstances can dictate how things play out. If you absolutely, positively, must have an Evoker as soon as possible for some reason, you should evaluate if you think it's worth eating up quartz to do so. Especially since quartz serves as a pseudo-catching-up mechanic if you're willing to push back future progress a bit.

For ease of reference, I've included the general Evoker ratings to help illustrate where the characters are in terms of usage. The FLB and the Lv100 skill have been separated as both require rare materials to unlock (Sephira Evolite square.jpg Sephira Evolites and Sunlight Stone square.jpg Sunlight Stones, respectively). Ratings are believed to be mostly in line with the community, but are subject to change as we do not know what the new FLB kits are fully capable of yet. Each of them will be graded as follows:
★★★★★ - Strong pick overall. High priority pickup.
★★★★ - A solid pick. More often than not, you'll feel comfortable getting this.
★★★ - A decent pick. Not exceptional compared to other options, but will shine in the right situation.
★★ - Niche uses, not necessarily worth rushing but has potential. Especially when considering the element it's in.
★ - Very specific niches. You should save this for later or you're getting this purely for favoritism.

Using NWQ for NWF Weapons

Here I'll discuss why you'll want to prioritize NWF weapons. Overall, the New World Foundation weapons are rather niche, but with subsequent uncaps above 3*, they gain some nice benefits that may suit those of you choosing to tackle HL content or playing around with unique strategies. If nothing else, FLB Evokers require their respective weapon uncapped to 5★.

At base level and up to 3★, each of the NWF weapons are rather niche as their EX modifier and unique skill have the main-hand restriction; the classes that could use these weapons as a main-hand don't necessarily synergize with what the weapon wants to do. Otherwise, the weapons boasted a modestly powerful ougi, bonuses, or alternative way to play. But it isn't until the release of their uncaps do all of them become rather popular options to consider slotting in.

Upon uncapping to 4★ and the removal of the main-hand requirement at LV150, the previously niche strategies may become more worthwhile to consider now that you are not class-restricted. Additionally, Primal Majesty will be added to the weapon at LV120, making it a rather nice addition for all sorts of grids, especially those that can use both the main skill and the ATK/HP boost. Upon uncapping to 5★, in addition to improving the ougi again, the weapon removes the Arcarum-exclusivity for the DMG Cap Skill and adds a modest 5% DMG Cap Up that works anywhere. This is very good for elements that do not have easy access to Cap Up in the grid. The effect will apply its standard 20% DMG Cap up when using the weapon in Arcarum modes.

It is also at the 4* uncap that you can seriously consider putting these weapons into your grid; offering a comfortable power boost for a variety of setups. Especially in EX slots for V2/Sandbox content. Slotting them in before that point just makes them glorified stat sticks.

It doesn't end there though, not only do you get a nice weapon by spending Quartz here, you also gain access to the Domain of the Evoker EMPs. Perpetuity modifiers are quite strong, as exemplified with general rings (coronation, lineage, intricacy), Awakening levels, earrings, and the titular perpetuity rings. These domains mostly offer useful bonuses for their respective Evokers at the cost of a handsome chunk of Arcarum materials. Unlocking all of these EMPs unlocks a unique, 5th Domain EMP. Some are clearly more powerful than others and can help shape a given Evoker's niche to be much more flexible. As for now, the strongest Domain EMPs belong to Estarriola, Fraux, and Lobelia, who offer major benefits just from using them as normal.

The trade off for these items are that you need materials. Lots of materials; including three of the elusive Eternity Sand square.jpg Eternity Sand. For both the weapon and unlocking the Domain EMPs. This is a huge time and resource sink and this will be necessary for Evoker 5★ uncaps. Given the resources available through Sandbox, this can potentially be not too much of an issue depending on your team and grid strength as you can have a very high fight turnover rate, and subsequently have more rolls for loot and resources. With that, it is a very long grind that is prone to becoming very tedious.

NWF Weapon Ratings

This section is intended to help outline possible investment returns for each of the New World Foundation Weapons. Below is a table overview for ease of access, and the subsequent tabs elaborate on each of their use cases, including potential synergies that may be helpful. Each are decently powerful based on what you're trying to accomplish and are very solid slot-in options in EX slots for their EX modifier and Primal Majesty modifier. The ratings are mostly reflective of the community's view on each weapons current position, and will be scored as follows:

Use Cases

This weapon will see use on teams that offer consistent buffs, which will be a majority of teams commonly seen in circulation. However, this is more suited for long-form content where the sustained healing will be more useful.

Practically speaking, uncapping only a few NWF weapons and focusing on getting one or two nodes of their respective evoker Domain EMPs is a much better opportunity cost. However, we are require maxed out Evoker domains before we can think about uncapping the respective Evoker to FLB. Plan accordingly.

Each individual tab below will outline each of the use cases for each Domain, and is mostly reflective of the community's view on each Domain's strength. Ratings are subject to change as we do not know what all of the new FLB kits are capable of. Each of them will be graded as follows:

; rather on the short end. There could be cases that like the high uptime of auto-centric damage to push certain triggers in harder raids. But the auto-centric damage is almost never the core of high-difficulty teams. If it is present, it's an accent and not the focal point.

Now, if you wanted to try and regularly use his kit in longer content, first, one has to use Weapon s 1040912600.jpg Heat of The Sun as a mainhand to enable the Domain passive. This means certain classes have to be used: Chrysaor square.jpg Chrysaor, Class 230301 sw square.jpg Glorybringer, Class 220301 kt square.jpg Kengo, and Class 210301 kt square.jpg Runeslayer. Out of these classes, Chrysaor shines in shorter, burst-y content, while Runeslayer can get complicated without an aide. This leaves Glorybringer and Kengo for longer content, and both do get usage. Glorybringer is more auto-centric and could reasonably use the katana for Alanaan, but it has limited use for Alanaan as many of the powerful options available to the class do not necessarily need Alanaan to power. Kengo is, as always, Charge Attack spam with the Weapon s 1040909300.jpg Unsigned Kaneshige (Fire) and and Weapon s 1040913400.jpg Higurashi, which has little use for Alanaan outside of backline bonuses.

Even if you were willing to push forward with Glorybringer, the fact that the Domain passive randomly reduces cooldowns by 1-5 turns reduces any niche potential to almost zero.

I just want to inform people to make a decision that best suits them and avoids further player-regret. A game is meant to be enjoyed; sometimes it demands optimization - other times not so much.

Under most circumstances, you will be able to obtain the Evokers/Oracles through regular playing of Arcarum [Sandbox] - with relative ease given enough time. However, there can be personal, motivating reasons for you to spend NWQ to speed things along; yes, even waifu/husbando reasons. Even still, I would advise you to try and obtain them normally, without spending the quartz, but I would not fault you for doing so. It's time saved in some respects (catch-up is one such idea). Just be sure you know what you might be in for later down the line if you didn't plan for it.
