I hate the GameWith tier list. It has a hardcore bias towards endgame GW and misleads a lot of new players who follow it because "tier list on wiki good". This is going to be my attempt to give context to why I think characters are good, and provide a point of view that is approachable to players who are newer, as opposed to the endgame GW farmers.

I plan to focus on dark characters. I am not all knowing. Take everything here with a grain of salt. These are entirely my opinions. I will also mark out the characters I don't have so I can't directly test them out.

Grading Scales

Instead of using a final score for each character, every character will be rated on seven different aspects:

  • OTK: How much damage does this character add to OTK set ups with as few buttons as possible. The more buttons the character requires, the lower its score.
  • Solo: How this character performs in solo content, either adding extra damage or survivability or some sort of utility. There is an emphasis on survivability here.
  • Hard: Similar to solo, but this time there is an emphasis on damage here. This refers mainly to content like UBHL or Lucihard.
  • Utility: The character's overall utility to any party, whether its in solo or raids, etc.
  • Racing: How the character performs in racing situations, where as few button clicks as possible are necessary.
  • Full Auto: How the character performs in full auto. Characters lose points for anti synergies in the mode, like Esser's 2nd and 3rd skills performing poorly in FA.
  • Meem Powa: how memeable this character is. just for fun.

Each section will receive a score from 1 to 5:

  • 1: Extra bad performance. Detrimental in this aspect.
  • 2: Bad performance. Generally means some minor downside of sorts.
  • 3: Average performance. It doesn't bring anything note worthy to this aspect, but doesn't hurt either.
  • 4: Good performance. Expect some additional note worthy little thing to the aspect.
  • 5: Core. Cream of the crop, excellent to the aspect.

You should expect most characters to be 3 in most aspects, with maybe 1 or 2 higher and 1 or 2 lower than average. That's what you should expect -- Most characters are actually largely functional and will perform decently; there might just be better options.

Grindable Ones

Seox

Seox kinda sucks at 4★, but at 5★ he is one of the best attacker characters in the game. He will hit damage cap in just about every raid even without an optimal grid/health situation. He his really hard, and he's fairly self sufficient. Just don't bother with his 4★.

Worth A goldbar?: Just so you can get his 5★ later.

Worth TWO godlbars?: Absolutely.

OTK 5 Increased ougi cap + nuke on enemy ougi makes Seox very good for low-button OTK setups.
Solo 3 Seox is pretty good in solo content, depending on the fight. He kinda sucks in Lu Woh due to the all-ally autos, but he's fantastic for beelzebub.
Hard 5 Seox brings top shelf damage, and a very relevant debuff in the form of Status Accuracy Lowered 3.pngAccuracy LoweredAttacks and special attacks have a chance to miss

Event seox is the pepsi to Eternal Seox's oolong tea. They kinda look vaugely similar, but the former is just vastly inferior to the latter. The thing is, he's not really competing for a team slot with normal Seox. You're only going to use this character if you are a new player with limited options and need a somewhat durable attacker.
OTK 3 Event Seox brings nothing special to the table, and his upfront damage isn't awesome, but hey Ability m 1101 1.png Six-Claw Execution6-hit, 150% Dark damage to random foes (Damage cap: ~80,000 per hit~480,000 total).

Solo 4 High dodge chance and buffs that build over time help Seox contribute to long, difficult fights. For a wellfare character he's pretty great.
Hard 1 This character just doesn't bring anything to the table that will help with the hard raids. He's going to get run over before he can ramp up, and even then he won't hit hard enough.
Utility 2 Some dodge is about it.
Racing 1 Character with frequent button presses and no unique mods is not good for racing.

Worth the spark?: Yes, but low priority. She's a great character, and her weapon is good for primal.

OTK 1 her skills can actively make your OTK slower, and her ougi does no damage.
Solo 5 This character's debuffs from her ougi are phenominally useful for all of the hard fights in the game, and the damage amp from moksha is super helpful.
Hard 5 Same as solo fights.

Amira is really fidly to use, and normally you're just going to wish you were using Npc s 3040222000 01.jpg Kolulu instead.

Worth the spark?: no.

OTK 4 Her ougi damage is pretty good, and she can instant charge and debuff defense.
Solo 4 She's a decent tank.
Hard 3 When I tried to use her in bubz she just kinda died despite her high defense. She's just so awkward.
Utility 3 Sub-all and dark def down are cool I guess.
Racing 1 This character is the opposite of a racing character.
Full Auto 2 spaghetti all over the place.
Meem Powa 3 People really like her assets.

Standard Gacha

Predator (SSR)

Predator does absolutely bazonkers damage. She's not particularly helpful in general content or hard content, but she's absolutely core for racing.

Worth the spark?: Yes. Mandatory for endgame racing.

OTK 4 She works if you are doing lucha OTK for something like NM95
Solo 3 She will be great for initial burst, and then probably die if a stiff breeze hits her.
Hard 1 Don't.
Utility 2 Gives enmity to the party based on how low her HP is.
Racing 5 Mandatory.
Full Auto 5 Works perfectly fine.
Meem Powa 2 The fist compositions that would be called memes are actually just meta.


Vania

First she was core, then she got power crept, then she got 5★ and became core again. Vampy-chan hits hard, is reasonably durable, and brings very relevant utility.

Worth the spark?: not really.

OTK 3 eh. Charm an help due to the increased damage cap, but for low button OTK she has little special.

Vaseraga is pretty unremarkable at 4★, but at 5★ he is a durable, self-sufficient attacker who shines when paired with Npc s 3040265000 01.jpg Rei. His biggest weakness is a lack of multi-attack. Even with harmanubis getting him to triple is like pulling teeth. Rei completely patches up that weakness, so he's the best Ability m 1110 3.png MokshaSwitch positions with a sub ally.

Solo 4 He can't die for 20 turns. This is so abuseable that it's comical. High damage triggers are just damage buffs for him.
Hard 4 He doesn't bring a ton of utilty, but hostility up, survivability, and damage output all work in his favor. You don't have to worry about him dying to Lucilius or Bubz and ruining the raid for everybody.
Utility 2 All he really has is hostility up.
Racing 3 Press skill 3 then 2 then mash.
Full Auto 4 Vase works pretty much fine on FA. If you don't cap easily then using Ability m 1087 1.png Instinction500% Dark damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~800,000).
At level 75:
Damage increased to 550%.
At level 90:
Damage increased to 800%.
Now hits all foes.
