Hi, asking if there's a reason as to why the order of the characters under the banter subheader got swapped around? nbd though just asking out of genuine curiosity since the other Society members seem to have Zeta up on top :O

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

I'm not aware of any specific reason why they were set up this way. If you were to ask me, I'd place them in whatever order as well before. However, just few days ago I updated Meta:Manual of Style/Character Pages/Voice and the character banter specifics now explicitly say to use alphabetical order. It seemed like the most logical order to me that is also easy to follow, and I have yet to receive any comments from the admins that this order shouldn't be used, so I'll assume it's good enough. I haven't gotten to updating older voice pages yet, because there are few specific things I want to add to the manual that I need to think about a bit more. If you're willing to update the subsection order on the other pages then you're free to do.
I strongly recommend reading the updated manual. And, once you're familiar with it, I'd certainly want to hear your thoughts on what else could be added in there or if there's anything that would have to be changed for clarity.

MegaLuxray (talkcontribs)

Oh okay, it looked like... release order or something before, but will take note since it is to be in alphabetical order moving forward.

Looked through the manual and I think something that will be worth clarifying is if a specific formatting should be used when any banter lines (or journal/battle for characters like Morrigna which are a trio) are said in sync/together (JP wiki has those indicated with double quotation marks 「「」」 usually, but that doesn't work in ENG)

ie:

Character X & Character Y: Go!

or

Both/All: Go!

Dragon's Rage damage cap per hit is weird <_>

Oblongotter (talkcontribs)

Hi there.

I updated Dragon's Rage with numbers from its GameWith article, and I saw that afterwards, you changed the format for the damage cap.

I also thought about formatting the damage cap in the same way you did. However, in testing the summon in battle, I observed that the damage cap of each hit gradually increases until the 9th and 10th hits, where the damage cap jumps substantially (especially the 10th hit). Because I don't have the capacity to extensively test this and figure out the exact damage cap of each hit, I left the page with a "Total damage from all 10 hits" hover text over the damage cap. The in-game scrolling for the damage numbers is also quite fast and hard to see; this is probably the reason why GameWith itself didn't bother to figure it out.

Just wanted to let you know of this summon's weirdness. Right now, the ~20,000 damage cap per-hit hover text isn't accurate, so to avoid misinformation, I'll be reverting the edit to the damage cap. If you know of a more elegant way to go about this, please by all means work your magic =)

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

I don't mind. Even then, damage caps only use "per hit" or "total". There's no need for a full sentence there.

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

As for the numbers, you'd need to look at the json files via devtool instead. All damage instances will be listed separately there.

Template:CharProfile

Sakatagin (talkcontribs)

Hi,

This template is apparently broken (https://gbf.wiki/Lamretta_(R)/Lore#Japanese). Considering this template is basically maintained by you, do you have an idea on the issue/fix? I've heard it is related to it being unable to pull from alternate versions anymore but I'm not sure.

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

Lamretta's page has already been updated by the time I saw this message.
The template isn't compatible with previously used parameters so all profiles needed to be updated to reflect the changes made. I've went over all profiles using character tracker to mark the ones I did, but it's possible I've missed few because of missclicking etc. They'll just have to be fished out one by one, when someone notices they're broken.

Character titles are not shortened unit names

Summary by Hakazumi

I hardly care, not all JP titles are direct TL to begin with. The bored guy could have checked history for old titles if he preferred them instead of leaving the fields blank. Don't bother me with such things.

FridgeLaser (talkcontribs)

The character title field should contain a translation of the JP title rather than the shortened version of the character name. Otherwise, both Lancelot and Vane variants would have the same title. The reason Adlai used "Bow of Unity" as the title for Milleore and Sahli Lao was because the JP title was incorrectly labeled as "阿吽の破弓" instead of "双璧の射手". https://gbf.wiki/index.php?title=Milleore_and_Sahli_Lao&diff=prev&oldid=338553

Anka453 (talkcontribs)

Sorry for that mess haha, all should be in order now. Should've read the template page properly before I jumped into editing ;;;

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

Eh, as long as it gets corrected, I don't really care. I'm not even anyhow in the position to be handling such stuff, definitely not anymore. Back to topic, if you want to see which chars are missing are missing the quotes, check out this collection tracker. Just remember to keep owned to "no". It's the, mostly, updated version of link on my profile. I've done all SSRs I had so the number of SRs/Rs should get smaller later when I find some time before PG ends.

Regarding the values I added yesterday, while it was by no mean complete or well organized, I believe showing some values would help the reader to get a general idea of what the summon does.

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

I think that simply listing possible endurance recovery values without the examples, similarly to info on Verona Heart page, would be better. They're random after all.

92.152.81.188 (talkcontribs)

Well, they are not really random, but yeah, that would be nice.

Please stop communicating by proxy on discord

Please stop communicating by proxy on Discord. Discord is not and has never been a requirement to contribute to this wiki, but if you want to communicate to other users without it, then create a project page or use wiki discussion pages.

You have a long, documented history of being passive aggressive and toxic. What you're doing now is another one of those cases and I have little tolerance for it.

Cinnamon18 (talkcontribs)

Hi! I made an edit to S.Narmaya's page which your reverted. Sorry for the low quality edit! Never contributed to a wiki before, not even sure if this the best way to message you :p

You made the revert because I didn't source the edit. I collected the data myself. Is this an acceptable source? What sort of information should I provide as support? Party / grid / summon setup? Video recordings? The data is collected in the spreadsheet linked below, n=250, observed avg = 0.264 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1stv2NwsEzIFrj2FbVaKqVp8iof6I4J-N/view?usp=sharing

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

Sample size of 250 with average of 26,4% gives MoE of ~4,59% so it'd be something between 21,81% and 30,99%. If final value is a multiplicative of 5% then it's either 25% or 30%. That sheet you linked would be a good source but you need some more samples.
Like 500 more should do it, I guess. For reference, for my Veight tests I needed over 1,5k samples for both his buffs.

Cinnamon18 (talkcontribs)

okay thanks! i was having trouble figuring out the appropriate stats to run but i get it now, ty.

How about praising me, for a change of pace? If I ever received thanks from you, it'd have to be long time ago.

AdlaiT (talkcontribs)

Haka, there has never been a rule where people can't edit pages during a maintenance. I don't know where you got this from. Again, you do not have authority over these types of things.

Unfortunately, because this is not the first time that this has been an issue with you, I will have to start giving you infractions.

Characters with Sub Ally Support Skills

6
Kirostyle (talkcontribs)

Hello there! I made a page compiling Characters with Sub Ally Support Skills because the auto-generated category page one on the wiki was not detailed enough. It only lists the characters and not the skills themselves for people to easily look through. It is also missing some sorting information. It keeps re-merging with the auto-generated category page though. I wanted to see if there was a way my page could be used to replace that one. Thanks!

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

The content of the pages has been removed because description contained what linked support skills already had inside, except that since it was written separately, it wouldn't update alongside info already on character's page. That could in turn sooner or later cause information discrepancy.
I also don't think that evokers / crest sort options were necessary. I wouldn't mind if they were included after others agreed to them but it doesn't look like you previously asked any of the admins how should that page look like.
I also agree that it'd be nice if the category page was a bit more detailed and included the skill category is meant to reference but if you wanted to work on it anyhow, you should ask before for any opinions etc.

Kirostyle (talkcontribs)

I would have directly linked the descriptions myself, but I did not know what the coding looked like for that and was hoping for someone else with the knowledge to do so. That would also not include the notes, however. That is why some of the descriptions were touched up, especially for passives that contain both frontline and backline components. I understand that it would not automatically update, but the category page was also incorrect as well because people have not been tagging all the characters with backline passives anyways, which I then went to subsequently fix a few. It would be nice if that page could display the text for the passives too, but some characters have their backline passive as skill 1 or skill 2, so it probably wouldn't be able to sort it that way right now.

Other skill resource pages also do not automatically update, such as the pages for Veil, Dispel, Clear, etc. and yet they are valuable pages for compiling information. (I have been updating them with missing characters lately.) My page also includes notes and lets people easily skim through support skills for easy reference, especially around Guild Wars and Proving Grounds. I spent a couple hours making this for my crew and others. I ask that you reconsider.

Hakazumi (talkcontribs)

You already linked the skills via CharacterSupportSkill template.

The difference between other mentioned pages and support skill page is that the latter is a category page. It will include more characters if the category is added to the character page. In the best case scenario, it'd also add the newly added character's support skill to the table. Whatever that is possible or not with the currently available tools is not something I know.

And it is not me who you should be asking for anything, I recommend you join the wiki discord and address this issue there (or alternatively use wiki's talk pages to ask one of the admins - User_talk:AdlaiT, but mind that getting a reply this way might take longer).
Another option would be to put it on your userpage User:Kirostyle. Then you'd be free to create it exactly how you want.

Kirostyle (talkcontribs)

Linking them with the support skills template does not make it able to be CTRl+F'd and requires you to scroll over each one individually, which is inconvenient. That is why I chose to make a separate column.

Sorry, I was under the assumption you were an admin. I did not know there was a Wiki discord for this. I have created pages in the past without any troubles, so I assumed that it would be fine. I will look into this. Thank you.

AdlaiT (talkcontribs)

I want to be very clear that Hakazumi is not a wiki admin nor a wiki moderator. They should not have removed the contents the page since they are not in any position of authority to decide either way.
