although mimics of either type can drop either haze (presumably 50/50), it seems other haze drops from random enemies, if they drop them, always correspond to their element. So fire/wind/light enemies (including field generator, I discovered) drop aurora, water/earth/dark drop chaotic. When this happens they can seemingly be dropped by almost any enemies at all, even the weakling ones, even though the chances are low.

As far as how the drop rates seem in one zone vs another, something I've noticed is that an expedition seems to often throw at you enemies that are a majority the same element. But the next expedition, might do it with a different element. It's never 100%, but like, some expeditions you run into mostly wind enemies, but it might be mostly water the next time, even if you do the same zone. This seems to be why it feels like we mostly get one type of haze on a given day :)
