Happy Birthday Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Here you are, (Captain).
I hear today's your birthday.
The others in the crew let me know.
They also told me what usually happens on this special occasion.
(Captain), here is my birthday present to you. I hope you like it.
I created this talisman by crystallizing the elements that make up water.
Put this on, and it will protect you from all water-related hazards.
Choose: Thanks
The smile on your face is all the thanks I need. Well then—
Ah...
I'm sorry, (Captain). I forgot to say something very important.
(Captain), happy birthday.

2

Happy birthday, (Captain).
I'm delighted to be here to celebrate this glad occasion with you.
Here. This year, I wove together the elements that make up water to create a shawl for you.
I've crafted it to keep you cool when the weather is hot, and warm when it's cold outside.
After all, it is the duty of a crew member to look after their captain, is it not?
Haha... Giving gifts is so much fun. I feel like I'm really one of you.
I have a feeling I may enjoy your birthday even more than you do, (Captain).

3

(Captain), all the best to you and the years to come.
This is my present to you—an outfit crafted from the essence of water. Wearing it will allow you to breathe underwater.
Haha, forgive me. That was a jest.
I picked this up in town, thinking it would look great on you.
It took some bravery on my part to blend in with mortals and enter a shop to choose a present...
But my desire to celebrate your birthday gave me courage.
It was a refreshing experience... And I owe it all to you, (Captain).
Going forward, I hope to learn so much more from you.

4

Today is your special day, correct? Happy birthday.
I'm afraid it won't be much, but please allow me to celebrate with you.
I'd like to take you to the most delightful places I know today.
I've already made all the arrangements, including dinner, so please leave everything to me.
The world of mortals is quite complicated, so it took some time, but I was somehow able to manage.
By the way, this is what you'd call a... "date," correct?
I plan to keep you all to myself on our date together.
Hehe... I hope you enjoy it. Now then, let's be on our way.

5

Today is your special day, (Captain). Happy birthday.
I'm delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate this day with you.
I hope that you will accept this humble gift.
Your present is standing in front of you right now.
Yes, that's correct. I myself am your gift. I give you my all.
I consulted with Gabriel, and she assured me that this would be the perfect present.
However... I completely forgot to ask what happens next.
Is there anything specific you would like me to do, (Captain)?
I'm more than willing to do anything within my power. So please don't hesitate to ask.
I shall serve you with all my heart and soul.

Happy New Year Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

(Captain), happy New Year.
The others in the crew tell me that is the greeting mortals use on this occasion.
I apologize in advance, but I'll have to take some time off.
I must offer a New Year's greeting to Gabriel as well.
But don't fret. I will return as soon as I've had the chance to say my salutations.
This is where I belong now.

2

Happy New Year, (Captain).
How has the last year treated you? I hope I feature in at least one of your fond memories.
The times I've shared with you glimmer like stars in the firmament of my memory.
I'll do my best to be at least some small part of your coming year too.
Let's make all the good memories we can.

3

(Captain), happy New Year.
Thank you for always taking care of me. I'll be in your capable hands this year as well.
I am about to visit Gabriel to give my New Year's greeting.
Would you care to join me?
I have heard that it is a mortal custom to bring those close to you for the trip.
It would also be nice to have another person aid me in recounting what we have been up to this past year to her.
Are you sure?
Thank you very much. It pleases me greatly to have you along.
Shall we head out then?

4

(Captain). Forgive my tardiness, but Happy New Year.
You visited the shrine early this morning, finished your New Year's greetings, and enjoyed your special dishes.
What are you planning to do now?
Hmm... There's still a lot of daylight left, but you intend to spend it resting? Are you feeling unwell?
You're having a lazy new year? I never realized such a way to enjoy this day existed. I'm ashamed of my lack of awareness.
In that case... would you mind if I lazed about with you?
I thought it might auger well for the coming year if we were to begin it by lying next to each other enjoying a nap.
Now then, (Captain). Let's retire to your room. I'd like you to teach me everything that having a lazy new year entails.

5

Happy New Year, (Captain). I look forward to another wonderful year together.
...
Oh, forgive me. I was in a bit of a daze for a moment.
I had a little to drink at the New Year's party that began early this morning, so I'm feeling rather giddy...
At this rate, I may end up acting somewhat bolder than usual.
I'm afraid I'll show you a side of myself that I normally keep hidden...
(Captain), I know this is sudden, but you mustn't come to my room tonight.
I have a feeling that if you do, something... unexpected might happen.
Have I made myself clear? Under no circumstances are you to come to my room.
No matter what...

Valentine's Day Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Valentine's... So this is the day on wich you present loved ones with chocolate.
I understand now.
In witch case, I'd like to give you chocolate too, (Captain).
If you will please be patient a while longer...
I'll be back with the goods in a bit, (Captain).
(Captain), I've returned with the chocolate. I hope you enjoy it.
Teehee. Your smile brings warmth and satisfaction to my heart, (Captain).
I'll prepare something even fancier for you next year.
I hope you'll look forward to it.

2

(Captain), could I borrow you for a moment?
Today is Valentine's Day. I took the liberty of making you some chocolate, and poured my heart into it.
I hope you'll accept it.
Building on what I learned last year, I made you this rich ganache fudge.
I hope you like it...
Haha, that's exactly the reaction I wanted! I'm so pleased.
By the way, I heard from the crew that I should put some extra effort into how I give my gifts.
So I'll give that some thought.
You can expect a much more extravagant presentation next year.

3

This is for you, (Captain).
As today is Valentine's, I wanted to express my gratitude with these chocolates.
Last year, I said I'd put extra thought into how I present my gifts...
But I ended up forgoing that notion and presented my gift in the same manner I always have.
I was going to create an ice statue in my image, then embed the chocolate in the statue's bosom...
The warmth of your heart would open up its chest, giving you access to my chocolate...
But after discussing my plan with Gabriel, she strongly suggested that I give you the chocolate plainly...
Um... What do you think, (Captain)? Was my plan too outlandish after all?

4

???: House of Thebes!
(Captain) hears a voice call out from the kitchen while taking a stroll through the Grandcypher.
Europa: ...!
(Captain)!
My plans have been laid bare... I was cooling some chocolate I had intended to give to you, (Captain).
I thought I could keep it hidden from you since it's almost finished...
I would have prefered to express my feelings without you discovering my plans like this but...
I hope you'll accept this expression of my girlish desires.
...!
Hehe... I couldn't have imagined a day would come when I would speak of my feelings like this.
(Captain). I shall give these to you once they are finished, so please wait just a bit longer.
Hehe... Girlish desires... What a truly strange concept indeed. Hehehe...

5

There you are, (Captain). I've been searching for you.
Please accept this gift. Since today is Valentine's Day, I decided to make chocolates.
Um... If you wouldn't mind, may I feed one to you?
I've been quite interested in the custom ever since Gabriel told me about it, so if it isn't too much trouble...
Thank you very much. All right, (Captain). Open your mouth...
And say "ah"....
Teehee... That was delightful. There are still a good number remaining, you know. Would you mind if I fed them all to you?
Please, there's no need to be so reserved. Or perhaps...
Are you self-conscious of the fact that the tip of your tongue just touched my finger?
That was an unexpected pleasure for me... Please don't hesitate to enjoy it together with the chocolate.
Now then, say "ah"....

1

Hm, a gift for me? But why?
White Day?
Ah, I see. So today is the day to reciprocate kindness preformed on Valentine's
Forgive me. I'm still trying to get accustomed to the world of mortals.
As for your gift, I gladly accept.
...
Ah, it's nothing.
I just found it a bit embarrassing to have my affections returned.
Thank you for this, (Captain).

2

Is this for me? Oh, that's right. It's White Day, isn't it?
Thank you, (Captain).
Is it all right if I open it now?
Tea? And of very high quality, by the looks of it.
I feel a bit bad accepting such a lavish gift.
Oh, I see... Well, in that case, let's invite everyone here for a tea party.
It would be a waste to drink such good tea alone.

3

(Captain), how are you feeling? Today's weather is just perfect for a vacation.
Did you sleep well last night? Please remember to stay warm, as it's been rather chilly lately.
...
Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to drone on... Well then...
Huh? Yes?
Oh! You wanted to show your gratitude for Valentine's?
Why, thank you, (Captain).
To be honest, I was waiting for this. I was so eager for it that I ended up speaking at length.
Oh, how embarrassing that was...
But... Teehee... You've made my day, (Captain).

4

Oh, (Captain). This is thanks for my Valentine's gift, you say?
Thank you very much. But (Captain)... I saw you earlier...
You were handing out gifts to others as well...
Please don't try and hide anything. Did you wait to hand my gift over last because I'm not as important?
Hmph! You can't fool me!
Hehe... My apologies. I was merely playing a little trick on you.
How was my acting? Gabriel suggested I put on a bit of a show.
She said sometimes you must put distance between each other in order to grow closer.
And that, if things went smoothly, I could capture your heart...
Well? Was I able to capture your heart?

5

Is this a return gift for Valentine's Day, (Captain)?
Forgive me for saying this after you went to so much trouble, but... I'm afraid I can't accept it.
Once I do, this special day will be over, and my remaining time will be hollow and empty...
On that note, I have a favor to ask of you. Would you be willing to accompany me for the day?
I want to have you all to myself.
Actually... My apologies. That was selfish of me. Please consider my words to have been in jest.
My... Are you quite certain?
Thank you very much, (Captain). I have no doubt that this will be a wonderful memory.
And when this day comes to an end, please give me that gift.
I'm sure I will accept it with great emotion. Ah, I simply cannot wait!

Trick or Treat Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

So this is Halloween... What a joyous event this is.
By the way, (Captain), can I ask you a question?
What does it mean when the children say "trick or treat"?
Ah, I see. So it means to either offer up candy or face the consequences.
What an interesting game... Teehee, perhaps I should have a go at it as well.
(Captain), trick or treat.
Which will it be? Will you take the easy way out, or will you take the brunt of whatever I have in store for you?
I leave the choice to you, (Captain).

2

Towns are always so lively on Halloween.
I still can't help wondering why people dress up as monsters though.
I see... So the disguises are meant to conceal their identities in order to protect them from evil spirits... How fascinating.
In that case, perhaps I should don a costume and venture into town myself.
(Captain), what kind of monstrous garb do you think would suit me best?

3

I occasionally see people frightening others on Halloween.
I thought to give it a try myself this year, and have been thinking of the best way to do it.
Forgive me for being so forward, (Captain), but is it okay if I try tricking you?
Thank you, (Captain). You are so generous.
Here I go...
House of Thebes!
Um... Are you okay? You took quite a few steps back...
That was the trick. I would never attack you for real.
I didn't think it'd be so effective... It's never easy finding that perfect balance. But now I know it works.
Teehee... I must say, you were quite adorable in the way you panicked, (Captain).

4

(Captain) stands confused, having been summoned by Europa only to find no one there.
Boo!
Teehee... Forgive me.
Did I startle you? Since today is Halloween, I thought I'd have a little fun...
Oh... But I ended up playing a prank on you without first asking "Trick or treat?"
I was completely focused on wanting to see your surprised expression...
Please excuse my actions. That was quite unfair of me.
I'm willing to accept any sort of trick from you as an apology.
Now then, (Captain)... Please prank me however you see fit.

5

Today is Halloween, correct? I'm considering wearing a costume along with the rest of the crew this year.
I always envy how everyone seems to have so much fun dressing up in delightful attire that they wouldn't normally wear.
That being said, I'm rather reluctant to wear something too outlandish...
As a disciple of Gabriel, I must not exhibit shameful behavior.
But perhaps the embarrassment is part of what makes dressing up in costume so appealing?
Yes, I understand. Thanks to you, I am constantly learning about the world of mortals.
Thus, after several days of consideration, I have finally realized something.
I'm sure that I can handle any embarrassing form in front of you, and you alone.
So (Captain)... My wish is your command.
What sort of embarrassing appearance would you like me to assume?

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

(Captain), is everything okay? It's surprising to see you come out to town alone.
Me? I'm shopping for the party later.
Anyway, would you believe how lively it is out here today?
Is this how it usually is during the holidays?
I find it a bit noisy, but not altogether unpleasant.
What I do like is the smiles on everyone's faces...
It's quite a beautiful sight in its own way.
There is so much charm to be found in this world.
Just as Gabriel and the supreme primarch told me.

2

Look, (Captain). The town is positively glittering. These kinds of decorations only come out around the holidays.
They're so lovely... What a wonderful way to celebrate.
I can understand skydwellers' desire to spend such a special occasion with someone they care about.
That wish has already been granted for me—here I am, walking side by side with you after such a pleasant shopping trip.
Haha... I suppose we should get back to the ship. I'm sure preparations for the party are finished. Everyone must be waiting on us.
Still, there's no need to hurry...

3

(Captain), take a good look around. There is a distinct lack of snow, despite the approaching holiday.
I've heard that the celebration is improved drastically by the addition of snow.
I am inclined to believe it true. A world covered in pure white is a beautiful sight to behold. It puts the heart at ease.
And yet not a single snowflake is in sight...
Perhaps I should use my power and gather snow around the town myself...
Though leaving the matter to nature might be a better course. I'll place my faith in the skies.
Besides, there is a certain charm in waiting for snowfall together, don't you think?
Would you like to join me this evening, (Captain)?

4

(Captain), look outside. See? It's snowing.
At this rate, I have no doubt it will accumulate and paint this special night a brilliant white.
By the way, are you alone right now?
Could you lend me your ear for a moment? If you don't mind, that is...
Would you like to disembark from the ship together for a while?
Hehe. I'd like to try strolling through the snow-covered streets, just the two of us.
But I wonder why it is... When I get close to your face like that, my body feels like it's on fire...
Surely going out in the frosty weather will help cool me down.
Now, (Captain)—please rescue me from this blaze. Quietly...

5

It's gotten quite chilly. Are you cold, (Captain)? Do you mind if I touch your hand?
My, it's freezing. I'll use my own hand to warm it up, so let's continue on like this for now.
By the way, what are your plans for this evening?
Oh, of course... There's going to be a holiday party on the ship. How silly of me...
Er... I'm very much looking forward to the festivities, but I plan to excuse myself early.
If possible, could you come to my room by yourself after everything winds down?
I'd like to celebrate this night together in private, just the two of us... if you would be willing.
Knock three times, nice and slowly...
Hehe. That will be our secret signal. I'll make sure to tidy up my room, so I look forward to seeing you.
I plan to entrust the entirety of this special night to you, (Captain).

The Maiden of Water Descends

(Captain) and company awaken to a gentle murmur in the middle of the night. They go on deck to find Europa, who—with encouragement from Gabriel—wishes to join the crew and help deal with future threats.

A deep silence fills the night air as (Captain) sleeps in private quarters aboard the Grandcypher.
???: Please awaken, everyone...
A clear, gentle voice similar to that of a steady stream sounds off in their heads...
Quietly rousing them from a good night's rest.
Vyrn: Mng... This really beautiful voice was just talkin' to me...
Lyria: Yawn... I wonder who that might be...
Lyria and Vyrn look around while rubbing their eyes.
Lyria: Hm... I don't see anyone.
Vyrn: But I definitely heard it...
Lyria: Yeah... Me too...
???: I see you've woken from your sleep. Please come to the deck.
???: I await you there.
Lyria: Wha! The voice seems to be coming from inside my head...
Vyrn: What in the skies is going on?
Vyrn: It's telling us to go up on deck...
  1. What do you think's waiting for us?
  2. Let's check it out.

Choose: What do you think's waiting for us?
Vyrn: Don't tell me... A ghost?
Lyria: Eep! I-is it really a ghost?
Lyria: Um... Maybe we should just stay here? Especially if it really is a ghost...
Vyrn: I'm not sure ignoring it's the best idea either.
Vyrn: Let's just be careful on our way to check it out.
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Lyria: I-I'll come along too then! Being left behind alone would be the scarier option!
(Captain) and Vyrn give a wry grin in response before vigilantly making their way to the deck.

Choose: Let's check it out.
Vyrn: Yeah. We'd better keep our eyes peeled on the way up there just to be safe.
Lyria: Definitely...
(Captain) gives a knowing nod before heading up.
Continue 1
(Captain) and company step on deck to find a lone young woman looking up to the skies.
Upon noticing their presence, she holds the ends of her skirt and gracefully curtsies at the crew.
With her silky smooth skin and translucent dress illuminated by the silvery moonlight, the young woman's beauty transcends mortal boundaries.
Europa: It's been some time since our last encounter, Singularity.
Europa: And it's nice to meet you, girl in blue and crimson dragon...
Europa: I am Europa... disciple of Gabriel. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
Taken by her graceful, refined movements, (Captain) and company watch with mouths agape.
Europa: Is something the matter?
Lyria: Ah! N-no, erm, nice to meet you?
Lyria: I was just surprised... by how beautiful you are.
Vyrn: Ah... So you're buddies with that primarch lady, huh?
Europa: Not quite. More precisely I am her disciple.
Lyria: Disciple? Um... What exactly does that...
???: It can mean many things. But in this case, you can take it to mean that she places the greatest amount of trust in me.
A blue light fills the surroundings, converging on a single point and taking on the form of a woman.
Lyria: Gabriel!
Gabriel: Long time no see. I'm glad to know you're all doing okay.
  1. What brings you here?

Choose: What brings you here?
Gabriel: It's about Europa. I'm sure she can explain herself, but...
Gabriel: I thought it'd be more fitting if I, too, gave a proper explanation.
Vyrn: Hm? Whaddya mean?
Europa: (Captain), do you remember the words I conveyed to you once before?
Europa: Like Gabriel before me, I shall remain by your side to assist you.
  1. You mentioned remaining by our side...

Choose: You mentioned remaining by our side...
Europa: Yes... That, I did.
Europa: And I've come today to fulfill that promise.
Europa: Please use my powers as you see fit, (Captain).
(Captain) and company incline their heads at Europa.
Lyria: Um... Do you mean that you'll join our crew?
Europa: Yes, that's right.
Vyrn: But what for? And whaddya mean "use your powers"?
Europa: Gabriel gave me orders to support your crew.
Gabriel: You all stand by the singularity—an existence deeply involved with the future of the skies.
Gabriel: As such, you are bound to encounter threats and engage in wars all too great.
Gabriel: Some of these perils may be too much for you all to handle.
Gabriel: But I firmly believe in you.
Gabriel: If we work closely together, we can surely overcome any threat.
Gabriel: And in order for that to be true, we need someone who can bridge the gap between us.
Gabriel: In essence, someone who travels by your side while maintaining close communication with us primarchs.
Gabriel: I've decided to ask Europa to take on that role.
Gabriel: What's more, she wishes for this opportunity herself.
Europa: After the cataclysms, Gabriel and the supreme primarch spoke to me at length.
Europa: There is so much beauty in this world, little different from that of the verdant greenery all around us.
Europa: The willingness of brave skyfarers to come together in solidarity—to help and safeguard each other where one can accomplish little alone...
Europa: Therein lies the greatest beauty of all... I was told.
Europa: They also mentioned that your crew was the one responsible for making such sweeping vistas of valor and graciousness possible.
Europa: I wish to see such loveliness with my own two eyes.
Europa: And that's when I decided, (Captain)...
Europa: That it would be best to be by your side.
Europa: So won't you please allow me to accompany you?
Gabriel: Europa's powers match mine in strength.
Gabriel: I'm sure you'll find her to be of great value.
  1. Glad to have you, Europa.
  2. There's room for you too, Gabriel.

Choose: Glad to have you, Europa.
Europa: You have my thanks, (Captain).
Gabriel: And mine as well...

Choose: There's room for you too, Gabriel.
Gabriel: Haha, I appreciate the invite. You're making me blush.
Gabriel: But I'm sorry to say... that I still have much to accomplish on my own.
Gabriel: So I'll have to turn you down.
Lyria: That's too bad.
Gabriel shares a faint smile.
Continue 2
The primarch then turns to her disciple.
Gabriel: Europa. I'm sure this will be a wonderful opportunity for you to explore the world's beauty.
Gabriel: And it will in turn make you a better person.
Gabriel: Europa, I'm expecting much from you. Perhaps we'll be able to stand together as equals when this is all over...
Europa: Gabriel... I'll do my best to meet your expectations.
Europa: Your wish is my wish.
Europa: All that I am... is yours to command.
Europa bows in deference to Gabriel.
Gabriel: Europa, my disciple... May the blessings of water be with you.
With that, Gabriel vanishes in a gust of wind, leaving behind a fountain of feathers.
Europa: Well then, (Captain). I hope we'll enjoy our time together.
Europa once again lifts the hem of her skirt and politely curtsies at the crew.
They look on with smiles.

The Beauty in People

After a nice meal in a suspiciously quiet town, (Captain) suddenly collapses. The crew brings the captain to a nearby clinic and learns from a local doctor that (Captain) has fallen to an epidemic that's been ravaging the town.

The crew stops by a nearby town to resupply.
After a busy shopping spree, the crew takes a break and grabs a meal at the local tavern.
Lyria: It's so quiet in this town...
  1. I hardly saw anyone on the streets...
  2. It's pretty empty in here too...

Choose: I hardly saw anyone on the streets...
Vyrn: Kind of a surprise given how nice the town is. Makes it feel kinda gloomy.

Choose: It's pretty empty in here too...
Vyrn: Yeah. Even back outside, I hardly saw anyone walking the streets.
Continue 1
Lyria: Mm-hm... I'm feeling lonely already.
Europa's expression is one of bafflement.
Europa: You think so? Personally I find it to be considerably lively...
Europa: In fact I'd call the atmosphere in this tavern rather boisterous.
Europa: Even if this... tea, as you call it, has gone to their heads, I find their conduct unbecoming.
Lyria: A-ahaha...
Vyrn: Anyhoo, I'm just about full. Let's get back to shopping.
The others bob their heads in agreement, and they all head out of the tavern together.
(Captain) and company make their way back to the Grandcypher.
(Captain) takes frequent sips of water as they go.
Vyrn: You've been chugging that nonstop, (Captain). Everything okay?
  1. I'm just really thirsty.

Choose: I'm just really thirsty.
Europa: Did the meal not suit your tastes?
Vyrn: Nah, that food was just the kind that (Captain) likes.
(Captain) is suddenly hit with vertigo and nearly falls over.
Vyrn: Whoa!
Europa firmly holds (Captain) up.
Europa: (Captain), is something the matter?
Europa: You appear pale.
Lyria: A-are you okay, (Captain)?
Ah!
Lyria: You're burning up! And what are those blue spots covering your skin...
???: Hm? You folks all right?
Noticing something amiss, a concerned citizen approaches (Captain) and company.
Lyria: I'm not sure... (Captain) just suddenly fell ill...
Lyria: And now those blue spots are breaking out all over...
???: All of a sudden, you say? The rash and swelling I see here is...
???: Oh my!
The man touches the back of his hand to (Captain)'s forehead and throat.
Gran is the Main Character

???: Can I ask you folks a question? Did he happen to say anything about feeling really thirsty?
Djeeta is the Main Character

???: Can I ask you folks a question? Did she happen to say anything about feeling really thirsty?

Europa: Yes. (Captain)'s mouth was on the water bottle almost nonstop.
???: Just as I thought...
Vyrn: You've got a clue what this might be?

???: I'll explain later! For now we must get him to a clinic.

???: I'll explain later! For now we must get her to a clinic.
The concerned citizen quickly piggybacks (Captain) and then runs off.
Lyria: W-wait!
Europa: We should follow them.
Still dazed at the whole situation, the others give chase.
The crew soon arrives at a nearby clinic.
Other patients are already lying in the beds, wheezing in pain.
???: We'll let your friend rest here for now.
The man lays (Captain) down on an empty bed.
???: Just lie still and relax.
Europa: I don't mean to be rude, but just who are you?
Town Doctor: I'm just a doctor working at this clinic.
Town Doctor: Sorry for dragging you all here without so much as an explanation.
Town Doctor: I didn't mean to panic you.
The town doctor offers the crew an apologetic bow.
Europa: A doctor? Ah, right, that's the profession of one who diagnoses and cures sicknesses, if I recall.
Europa: Well then, Doctor, I have a question for you.
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Lemme guess... You want to know his condition?
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Lemme guess... You want to know her condition?
Europa: Yes. What sort of illness could have possibly befallen (Captain)?
Europa: And the people here...
Europa: They all seem to have the same blue rash as (Captain).
Town Doctor: Some kind of epidemic has begun spreading across town.
Town Doctor: The people you see on these beds have all been infected.
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Just like him...
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Just like her...
Europa: You mean (Captain)'s fallen to some kind of plague?
Lyria: That can't be!
Europa loses her composure at the doctor's words.
Europa: Hm... I've heard skydwellers are prone to all sorts of illnesses.
Europa: But how did you know so soon that (Captain), too, was affected?
Town Doctor: Complaining of thirst and endlessly wanting to drink water are telltale symptoms.
Town Doctor: They'll take as many sips as they can get.
Town Doctor: But that thirst is never quenched.
Town Doctor: In fact the more they drink the worse the symptoms get.
Town Doctor: At a certain point, they succumb to a nasty fever and pass out with blue rashes all over their body.
Europa: I see. That's exactly what happened to (Captain).
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Yep, that's why I figured he was probably infected with this mysterious disease too.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Yep, that's why I figured she was probably infected with this mysterious disease too.
Europa: Doctor... If there's anything at all we can do to help you determine the cure for this illness, please let us know.
Town Doctor: We physicians have been trying all sorts of remedies...
Town Doctor: But nothing seems to work.
Town Doctor: Truth be told we can't even pinpoint the cause of this disease.
Town Doctor: So we're pretty much at a loss on how to cure everyone...
Lyria: That's terrible...
Town Doctor: Either way I suggest your friend simply take it easy for now.
(Captain) responds with an affirmative grunt.
Lyria and the others look on with painful uneasiness.

The Beauty in People: Scene 2

The doctor explains that the symptoms of the illness get worse with every sip of water taken. Europa drinks some herself and learns that the town's water supply is contaminated. She generates her own purified water to help (Captain) recover.

Although the crew originally stopped in this town to resupply, things took an unexpected turn with the epidemic.
Though (Captain) is resting safely at the clinic, the captain's condition worsens with each passing minute.
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: How is he?
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: How is she?
Lyria: (Captain)'s noticeably worse off than before...
  1. Water... Please...

Choose: Water... Please...
Town Doctor: Sure thing. I'll be right back.
Town Doctor: Here you go.
The doctor hands (Captain) a cup with a small amount of water.
Vyrn: Really now, couldn't you have filled it up a little more?
Town Doctor: My apologies, but I can't afford to administer any more water than this.
Vyrn: Why not?
Town Doctor: As I said before, the symptoms only get worse the more water the patient drinks.
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: And judging from your friend's current condition, I'd say this is the most he can handle.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: And judging from your friend's current condition, I'd say this is the most she can handle.
Europa: That water...
Europa looks suspiciously at the contents of the cup.
Europa: I must ask, Doctor—where did you get that water?
Town Doctor: Our water supply's not too far from here.
Town Doctor: It leads into a river that flows all the way to our town.
Town Doctor: I fetched the water from there... Why do you ask?
Europa: Can you hand that cup to me?
Town Doctor: Sure.
Europa takes the cup and sips.
Vyrn: Whoa! What are you drinking (Captain)'s refreshment for, Europa?
Europa's expression turns sour the moment the liquid passes her lips.
Europa: The smell and color of the water seemed foul... I needed a sip to confirm my suspicions.
Europa: And it seems I was right. The water's been contaminated with a terrible substance you wouldn't find under normal circumstances.
Europa places the cup on the table.
Vyrn: So you're saying it's rotten? Looks like plain ol' water to me though.
Europa: Yes, well... Perhaps it's because I've received Gabriel's blessing of water that I can sense it so easily.
Europa: Doctor, can we have another cup in here?
Town Doctor: Um, sure, I don't see why not...
Though puzzled at Europa's request, the doctor brings another cup from the kitchen.
Europa: (Captain). Leave it to me to prepare for you the purest of water.
Europa: If you must, please drink from this.
Europa places a hand over the cup.
The next moment, magical blue particles begin to form inside the empty cup.
They radiate with an intense brightness before turning into water.
Town Doctor: Wha!
Town Doctor: What in the skies did you just do!
Europa: I converged and compressed the moisture in the air to form water.
Europa: Impurities still remain in that initial state of course, so I used my powers to filter the water.
Europa: Here, (Captain). See if this makes you feel any better.
Europa: Please drink it slowly.
Europa brings the cup to (Captain)'s lips and helps the captain drink.
Town Doctor: Hey, now! You keep this up, and—
Europa: No need to worry. I'm certain this will make things better.
Eager to lubricate a dry throat, (Captain) eagerly swallows every last bit of water formed by Europa.
Shortly after, the captain begins to perspire profusely.
Lyria: Yikes, look at all that sweat...
Vyrn: Er... This can't be good, can it?
Europa: It's fine. (Captain) is simply purging the toxins in the form of sweat.
Europa: How about it, (Captain)? Are you feeling better?
  1. That was just what I needed...

(Captain) gets up from the bed.
Europa breaks into a grin at the sight of a healthy captain.
Choose: That was just what I needed...
Europa: I'm glad.
Vyrn: Is it just me, or is the color coming back to (Captain)'s face?
Lyria: Yeah. Even talking was difficult a moment ago, but now...
Lyria: The blue spots are all gone too!
Town Doctor: Holy smokes! How did you even do this?
Town Doctor: This is the first patient I've seen make such a recovery!
Town Doctor: No matter what we tried, the symptoms only got worse...
Town Doctor: Please, you have to tell me! How did you go about curing your friend?
The doctor's expression is one of ghastly dread as he desperately clutches at Europa.
Europa: I converged the elements that make up water and transformed them into a special essence...
Europa: Different from normal water, mine has toxin-purifying properties.
Europa: I used it to cleanse the impurities—or should I say poison—accumulated within (Captain)'s body...
Europa: By diluting that poison and allowing it to be discharged as sweat.
Town Doctor: What... Did you say poison? But then why would everyone fall ill at the same time?
Europa: The reason lies with this town's water supply.
Town Doctor: Huh?
Europa: The cup of water you brought us earlier...
Europa: It was filled with a very strong poison.
Town Doctor: Hold on a sec! That water came directly from the source—
Europa: Exactly. We can assume that the source itself is polluted.
Town Doctor: That... can't... be!
Europa: Drinking that water led to a buildup of toxins in (Captain)'s body.
Lyria: So basically everyone who drinks the water in this town falls sick...
Lyria: Is that what you're saying?
Europa: Precisely. In addition to enjoying a meal here...
Europa: (Captain) continued to drink this town's water.
Europa: That is likely how our captain was infected.
Vyrn: But me and Lyria ate at the tavern too. How come we're okay?
Europa: It could be either the amount you consumed... or a difference in your bodies' natural resistances...
Europa: To state another possibility...
Europa: You might be unaffected because of your form.
Town Doctor: Those infected naturally crave water in order to expel the toxins in their bodies...
Town Doctor: Yet the more they drink, the worse their condition becomes...
Town Doctor: To think that the town's water supply is polluted seems a sound conclusion.
Gran is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Not to mention that he recovered right before my eyes...
Djeeta is the Main Character

Town Doctor: Not to mention that she recovered right before my eyes...
Town Doctor: So you think everyone'll recover if we bring them water from elsewhere?
Europa: Yes. I believe that should work.
Town Doctor: We have more than enough reason to test the theory. Problem is where would we get clean water...
Town Doctor: Actually for starters, I should warn everyone to stop drinking the town's water.
A stern frown overtakes the town doctor's countenance.
But in his eyes shine a ray of hope.

The Beauty in People: Scene 3

Europa generates enough water to help the town recover from the illness. She is stunned by the beauty of everyone coming together to overcome this epidemic. When the crew goes to check on the town's water supply later, they find a giant creature nesting there.

(Captain) has regained mobility thanks to Europa's specially-formed water.
But it is still a far cry from the captain's usual self.
Europa: (Captain), I recommend you drink lots and lots of water to expel the toxins and get well soon.
Europa: I'll make you some more right away.
Europa generates another helping with each mouthful (Captain) takes in.
(Captain): ...
  1. I've never been so hydrated!

Choose: I've never been so hydrated!
Europa: Have you had enough already? More wouldn't hurt...
Vyrn: You sure that's a good idea? Looks to me like (Captain)'s tummy about to explode...
Europa: Explode?
Europa: Hm... I suppose that's a fair point. Even good things should be taken in moderation.
Europa: (Captain), my sincerest apologies.
Europa bows apologetically to (Captain).
Europa: Apparently the body of a mortal is more sophisticated than one may think.
Europa: From this point forward, I will keep in mind the fragility of a mortal's body.
Lyria: A-ahaha...
Town Doctor: Erm, if I may interrupt...
Europa: Yes? What is it?
Town Doctor: From your explanation earlier, it sounds like you're able to conjure water out of thin air?
Town Doctor: The type of water that can cleanse a poisoned body of toxins... If it's not too much to ask...
Europa: Of course. That would be a most simple feat.
Town Doctor: Please lend us... No, please lend this town your strength!
The doctor inclines his head toward Europa in deference.
Europa: ...
Town Doctor: With your powers... Saving everyone here would no longer be an impossible dream.
Town Doctor: So please!
The doctor looks straight into Europa's eyes.
And she is in turn moved by his determination.
Europa: The earnest look in your eyes... Your willingness to help others... I see nothing but beauty.
Europa: Please raise your head, Doctor. I'll gladly lend you my assistance if it will help.
Town Doctor: Why, thank you! I'll never forget this kindness! Now the people of this town will be...
Town Doctor: Aah... I've never been happier...
The town doctor bursts into tears of gratitude at Europa's words.
  1. You're gonna save the day, Europa.

Choose: You're gonna save the day, Europa.
Europa: I'm only doing what is natural.
Europa: Besides, isn't helping those in need...
Europa: How you do things in this crew?
Lyria: Mm-hm! We just can't ignore anyone who might need our help!
Europa: My mission from Gabriel is to stay by your side and lend you my powers...
Europa: So if it is your wish to save the people of this town...
Europa: I would be more than glad to assist in that endeavor.
Europa: After all it is during difficult times that people must come together.
Europa: That, in essence, is what brings about the greatest beauty in people.
Europa: Gabriel and the supreme primarch said as much.
Europa: Which is why I find so much meaning in being here.
Europa: Besides, I still have to thank the good doctor for helping you, (Captain).
Europa cracks a smile.
Europa: Doctor, where should I place my water?
Town Doctor: Erm, maybe we can use these cups...
Town Doctor: No, that would be terribly inefficient, especially if we factor in distribution to everyone.
Town Doctor: Not to mention the amount of stress it'd place on you...
Town Doctor: Ugh, there must be some other way...
Europa: Doctor. Is there no place around here where I can store mass amounts of water?
Town Doctor: Well, there is a reservoir for tilling the fields that's not in use anymore...
Europa: I'll make my preparations there then.
Europa: If I can fill an entire reservoir with water, there should be enough to hand out to everyone without any delay.
Town Doctor: W-would you really be okay with that? I can't imagine it being easy to generate that much water...
Europa: It won't be a problem. Please leave this to me.
Town Doctor: Ah... Bless you! I will never forget this kindness!
Wearing an expression of astonishment mixed with exuberance, the town doctor lowers his head into a deep bow.
Town Doctor: I'll call the townspeople still in good health and have them help distribute the water.
  1. Count us in.

Choose: Count us in.
Town Doctor: A-are you sure? You've only just recovered...
Vyrn: Of course we'll chip in!
Lyria: Uh-huh!
Town Doctor: Thank you all so much!
Afterward the crew helps dispense the pure water that Europa generates.
And the inflicted townspeople gradually recover.
Vyrn: So what now?
Lyria: Hm, didn't Europa say the water supply's contaminated?
Europa: ...
Lyria: Did I remember that right?
Europa: Mm...
Europa: Ah, sorry. My thoughts were focused elsewhere.
Vyrn: Is there something on your mind?
Europa: Well, it's just... The view is so beautiful here.
Europa is captivated by the sight of the town slowly coming to life.
Europa: They support and encourage each other, spreading the happiness within their hearts...
Europa: That joy serves as a life force and leads to the revitalization of the town in its entirety.
Europa: How lovely...
Lyria: Haha, I've never seen you so taken with something like that, Europa.
Europa: (Captain), I must thank you from the bottom of my heart for presenting me with such beauty.
Europa: ...
Ah, forgive my random musings.
Europa: You mentioned something else earlier?
Lyria: Um, you said the water supply's contaminated, right?
Europa: Yes. That seems rather obvious from the way the town's water looks.
  1. Let's go see that water supply then.
  2. Let's go after things settle down here.

Choose: Let's go see that water supply then.
Europa: Agreed. It would be too painful to bear the loss of the beauty that this town currently represents.
Town Doctor: I'll lead the way.

Choose: Let's go after things settle down here.
Town Doctor: Oh, I assure you the town's all good now. We still have more of that pure water Europa made us after all.
Vyrn: All righty, let's go check out this water supply.
(Captain) gives an affirmative nod.
Europa: Agreed. Nothing will change in the long-term unless we solve the root of this problem.
Town Doctor: Okay, I'll be your guide.
Continue 1
Vyrn: Chop, chop, guys.
The crew follows the town doctor to the water supply.
Under the good doctor's direction, (Captain) and company arrive at the water supply.
What they encounter is an abundance of monster and animal corpses floating on the surface of the water, their rotting flesh creating white, frothy waves across the pond.
Town Doctor: My goodness! How did things come to this... I can hardly believe it...
The flabbergasted doctor totters to the edge of the pond.
In the next instant, a huge column of water shoots up and out comes a gigantic creature.
In its vicious fangs lie a deceased animal half torn apart.
Town Doctor: Eek!
Vyrn: Run for it!
The town doctor makes a mad dash back to (Captain) and company.
Tossing the animal corpse aside like a rag doll, the creature hisses in intimidation and goes on the alert.
Europa: I see... So this creature preys on all who approach the pond.
Vyrn: Then all the bodies floating in there must be...
Europa: The remains left behind by this creature.
Europa: The blood and other fluids from those corpses mixed with the water, contaminating the entire pond.
Lyria: So that creature's responsible for dirtying the town's water supply?
Europa: It's certainly one factor.
Europa: At any rate we can't save the town's residents for good unless we deal with the creature first.
Town Doctor: The water that wells up here is the lifeblood of our town...
Town Doctor: We may as well be doomed if we're not able to drink this water anymore...
  1. Creature's just asking for a thrashing.
  2. We've got a town to save.

Choose: Creature's just asking for a thrashing.
Europa: Yes, that may be so.

Choose: We've got a town to save.
Europa: I thought you might say that, (Captain)...
Continue 2
Town Doctor: Thank you so much... Really, thank you... You truly are the saviors of this town.
Tears pouring out of his eyes, the doctor expresses his gratitude many times over.
Europa: You're thanking us for something we haven't even done yet? How strange mortals can be...
Europa: Well then, (Captain), shall we get on with the deed?

The Beauty in People: Scene 4

Even with the creature defeated, the contamination in the town's water source proves intractable. Europa resolves the issue by letting loose the fresh, untainted water that runs underground. This series of events greatly piques her curiosity about mortals.

Having defeated the creature, Europa reaches out to the muddied surface of the pond.
Europa: Ah!
The moment her hand makes contact with the water, the young maiden immediately pulls back with a pained expression.
Europa: I was not expecting such contamination...
Europa: This is on the level of deadly venoms—and I say that without exaggeration.
Europa: It will take a considerable amount of time for the water here to return to its naturally clean state...
Town Doctor: Sigh...
The town doctor's countenance is overcome with despair as he crumples to the ground.
  1. There must be something we can do...
  2. Europa, do you have any ideas?

Choose: There must be something we can do...
Europa: (Captain), please leave this to me.

Choose: Europa, do you have any ideas?
Europa: Yes. Allow me to handle the matter.
Continue 1
She places her hand on the frothy waves once again.
Immediately after, fresh water gushes forth in the manner of a geyser.
Like a tidal wave, it quickly overtakes the contaminated, bubbly water.
Vyrn: Wha!
Lyria: Yikes!
Europa: I used my powers to forcefully eject the water that lies underground, beneath the pond.
Europa: As long it keeps gushing forth at this rate, the town's water supply will be clean in a matter of days.
Town Doctor: I-I must be dreaming...
(Captain) and company stare at the miracle in disbelief.
  1. Thank you.

Choose: Thank you.
Europa: Oh, it's nothing.
Europa: Lending you my powers...
Europa: Is my mission after all.
Europa: And especially after the people of this town showed me such beauty...
Europa: This was the least I could do to repay them.
Europa: I've never held much interest in mortals up to this point, but...
Europa: The series of events that transpired here have really opened up my eyes.
Europa speaks with a soft smile on her lips.
Though mortals had never piqued her curiosity in the slightest before now...
A significant change is slowly beginning to take shape in her heart.

Call of the Snow

Europa is troubled by a recurring nightmare where she is surrounded by snow sculptures. As she worries about this, Gabriel visits the crew, bringing a necklace containing Europa's power that was supposedly created by a "goddess" before the War. Believing that it might have some connection to Europa's nightmares, the crew heads for the ruins of the country where the goddess was worshiped.

Europa: (This wind is freezing... What is this place, to be able to chill even me...)
Europa opens her eyes to find herself being buffeted by a blizzard in an unfamiliar cathedral.
Europa: (Ah, I see... I'm having this dream again...)
Noticing a faint sound being drowned out by the wind, she turns to look for its source.
Europa: ...!
There, she sees several snow sculptures reaching out toward her.
Turning around, she realizes that she's surrounded by the sculptures, and that they're slowly getting closer.
Snow Sculpture: Go—
Wh—
Europa: What?
Snow Sculpture: ...!
No matter how hard she tries to make out the sculptures' words, their voices are drowned out by the wind.
Europa: Ah!
Suddenly, a snow sculpture grabs Europa's arm, and along with the chill of its touch she feels a sharp pain run along her skull.
She timidly raises her head to see countless snow sculptures looking down on her with agonized expressions.
Europa: ...!
Still able to feel the bone-chilling cold from her dream, Europa holds herself tightly.
Europa: ...
Europa: (I've been having that dream every night as of late... What could it mean?)
Europa: (The cold and the pain both felt real...)
Europa: Those sculptures are trying to say something to me, but...
Europa recalls the agonized expressions she saw immediately before waking up.
Europa: (They were looking directly at me...)
Europa: I don't understand... What were they trying to tell me? What have I done wrong?
Europa: This is certainly troubling... What shall I do?
One day, the Grandcypher welcomes a visitor.
Gabriel: Long time no see, everyone. How are you all doing?
Europa: Welcome, Gabriel. It's a pleasure to see you again.
Vyrn: What brings you here today? We weren't expecting you to just pop up like that.
Gabriel: I was visiting a nearby town for work and saw your airship on my way back, so I decided to stop by!
Lyria: For work?
Gabriel: Oh, I'm doing the illustrations for a picture book. I've been working on them for a few months, and now we've finally made samples of the finished product!
Gabriel pulls a book out of her bag.
Lyria: Hm? This title looks familiar...
Gabriel: Oh, you've heard of it? Its apparently based on a famous fairy tale.
Europa: I am not familiar with it myself. What is it about?
Gabriel: Hehe, in that case, why not read it and find out yourself?
Gabriel smiles and hands Europa the picture book.
Europa: You're giving it to me? Are you sure?
Gabriel: Of course! Oh, and I'll make sure the rest of you get copies once it goes on sale.
Europa: Thank you very much, Gabriel. I will treasure it for the rest of my life.
Europa gently opens the book and begins reading.
Europa: (A brave prince fights an evil witch in order to save a princess cursed to sleep forever...)
Europa: (After defeating the witch, the prince breaks the curse with true love's kiss, and they live happily ever after...)
Europa: True love... What a wonderful phrase.
Having finished reading, Europa longingly touches the illustration on the last page.
Gabriel: Hehe, I'm glad that you like it.
Gabriel: Oh, that's right! I had something else I wanted to show you, Europa!
Gabriel rummages through her bag again and pulls out a necklace with a large stone attached to it.
Europa: That's...
Gabriel: I got this from someone I was making this book with.
Lyria: Wow, what a lovely pendant! This crystal is so pretty!
Gabriel: The thing is, this isn't a crystal. It's actually ice that never melts.
Vyrn: What! That's some crazy ice!
Europa: I can feel a fragment of my power coming from it.
Europa: But how could that be...
Gabriel: As I suspected, you don't know either...
After looking at Europa with a troubled expression, Gabriel shifts her gaze to the necklace.
Gabriel: According to the person who gave me this, it's a relic of nation that existed before the War.
Gabriel: This ice was created by the "goddess" that country worshiped, and its people would fashion it into amulets like this.
Lyria: Right... So if Europa can feel her power coming from that amulet...
Lyria: Does that mean that she was their goddess?
Gabriel: That would be the obvious conclusion, but it doesn't make sense.
Vyrn: Hm? Why not?
Europa: I had never interacted with skydwellers until I met Gabriel.
Europa: Therefore, it's unthinkable that anyone from before then would possess a fragment of my power.
Europa: Most importantly, I have no recollection of creating ice like this in the first place...
Europa: (So why does it nonetheless spark a sort of... nostalgia in me?)
As she stares at the ice, Europa feels something welling up from the depths of her heart.
Suddenly...
Europa: Urgh...
Gabriel: Europa! What's wrong?
Europa: I seem to be... having a bit of a headache... I've never felt anything like this before...
Gabriel: Are you... No you're definitely not all right. Your face has gone pale.
Europa: Yes, I doubt I'll be able to aid the crew in this state... However, I believe that some time sleeping nestled in between you and (Captain) would aid my recovery...
Vyrn: Oh geez, now she's talkin' nonsense.
Gabriel: We'd gladly do that whenever you'd like, but this is no time for jokes.
Gabriel: Understood? We're all seriously worried about you.
Europa: ...
Gabriel: If there's something on your mind, why not share it with us? I'm sure we'll be able to help you.
After a moment of indecision, Europa begins to speak.
She recounts the dream that she's been seeing every night and the feeling of nostalgia that the pendant sparked in her.
Europa: At first I dismissed it as just a dream. However, it seemed simply too real to be normal...
Europa: Moreover, seeing that piece of ice made me relive the dream with a strange clarity.
Europa: In that moment, I became terrified by the prospect of it actually being reality.
Europa: It's as if some kind of dark machinations are occurring right outside my view... It scares me.
Gabriel starts to gently stroke Europa's trembling back, then raises her head with a look of realization on her face.
Gabriel: You mentioned snow sculptures... I've heard about an island like that.
Gabriel: It's frozen year-round and littered with snow sculptures and the ruins of a once-prosperous nation.
Gabriel: Explorers and treasure hunters often go there to search for hidden wealth, but...
Gabriel: Apparently, almost none of them ever come back.
Vyrn: They never come back, huh? That can't be good...
Lyria: But if that's the island from Europa's dreams, then...
  1. We might find a hint to all this.

Choose: We might find a hint to all this.
Europa: ...
Gabriel: Agreed... Though there's no guarantee that those sculptures actually have anything to do with Europa.
Gabriel: As far as I know, she had never left the island I found her on before we met.
Europa: Indeed. I don't remember any such thing happening either.
Vyrn: Yeah, but you must have been somewhere before going to that island, right?
Europa: No, I had always been there.
Vyrn: Huh?
Europa: That must have been where I was born. Born to meet Gabriel and (Captain)...
Vyrn: All right buddy...
Gabriel: In any case, that headache is making me curious about your memories.
Lyria: So you really don't remember all these things?
Europa: Yes... If the place I see in my dreams truly does exist, I think that I would like to discover what lies there.
Though still betraying some anxiety, Europa's words are filled with quiet resolve.
  1. We should go check it out together.

Choose: We should go check it out together.
Lyria: I agree! We might be able to find out what it is you're dreaming about!
Vyrn: And figure out what's up with that pendant too! Let's do this!
Europa: (Captain), Lyria, Vyrn... Thank you very much.
Gabriel: In that case, I'll help out too. I can't just sit back while my darling protege is suffering.
Europa: Gabriel... Thank you. I truly am blessed to have met all of you.
Vyrn: Right then, let's get going!
Vyrn: So what's that island you were talking about called, Gabriel?
Gabriel: Oh right, I hadn't mentioned that.
Gabriel: This island is named "Tyros." It shares a name with a great nation that one day suddenly disappeared from history.
In order to solve the mystery of Europa's nightly dreams, the crew of the Grandcypher sets off for Tyros Island.

Call of the Snow: Scene 2

After the group follows a trail of ice statues to the island's capital. The primal beast Zeus appears before them and, claiming to be Europa's father, declares that he must punish her for a great sin she has committed. With no memory of what he's talking about, Europa suddenly disappears in a blizzard.

Upon reaching Tyros Island, the crew is greeted by an all-encompassing, bone-chilling blizzard.
Vyrn: Urgh... I'm fr-freezing...
Lyria: We've been walking for a while, but we still haven't found any big towns...
Lyria: Is any of this familiar to you, Europa?
Europa: I'm afraid not... In the dream I'm always inside of the same building.
Vyrn: Huh... If it's a building we want, then maybe we should look for what's left of this island's capital.
Vyrn: Anyway, let's keep going this way a bit farther.
Agreeing with Vyrn's suggestion, the group continues pushing though the snowstorm.
Lyria: Oh? I think I see some people over there.
Vyrn: Maybe they're some of those treasure hunters Gabriel was talking about. Let's go talk to them!
Lyria and Vyrn approach the group of people pulling a cart.
Vyrn: Oh, they're just snow sculptures.
However, all they find are several unmoving sculptures surrounding a cart that's been buried by the snow.
Gabriel: These are...
Vyrn: What's wrong, Gabriel?
Gabriel approaches the sculpture and uses her power to melt it.
Lyria: Eep! Is that skin?
Gabriel: These aren't snow sculptures. They're people who have been turned into ice statues.
Vyrn: What! Does that mean that all of the snow sculptures on this island are...
Gabriel: Yes. Something must have suddenly happened while they were pulling this cart.
After hearing the shocking truth from Gabriel, Vyrn and Lyria hug each other in terror, the color drained from their faces.
Europa: ...
  1. Are you okay?

Choose: Are you okay?
Europa: What? Oh, yes. I'm all right.
Europa: I just feel a little chilly... Wouldn't you be willing to warm me up, (Captain)?
Europa grasps (Captain)'s arm to her body, causing the captain to become somewhat flustered.
Europa: Please... This place just feels so cold to me...
Detecting a hint of fear and uncertainty in Europa's expression, (Captain) quietly pulls her close.
Gabriel: Since they were pulling a cart, this is probably a road. So if we follow the statues...
Lyria: We might find a town! Let's go!
Vyrn: This is the capital, isn't it? Even though it's been like this for hundreds of years, it feels like it only just became deserted.
Following the statues, the group reaches what was clearly once a prosperous city.
Though covered by ice and deep snows, the buildings are still intact, allowing the crew members to easily imagine what it must have looked like during its heyday.
Gabriel: Do you recognize any of this, Europa?
Europa: Though it's not what I was seeing in my dreams, it feels familiar.
Europa: It's as if I have seen this city bustling with people before...
Europa speaks softly as she looks around, and eventually her eyes land on a place in the distance.
At the foot of the grand castle in the middle of the city stands a large building covered more deeply by snow and ice than all the others.
Europa: That place... I know it...
Seeing Europa start to walk toward the building as if in a reverie, (Captain) grabs onto her arm to stop her.
Suddenly...
Lyria: Eek! Th-thunder?
Gabriel: This is... Stand back, everyone!
Somber Man: ...
Somber Man: ...
Why are you here, Europa?
Europa: Why am I here?
Somber Man: You were to atone for your sin on that island until the end of time. Why have you instead come to this place?
The man speaks to Europa calmly, but his voice betrays his suppressed rage.
Europa: Atone for my sin? I'm afraid I don't understand.
Somber Man: You broke your oath and left that island. For that, you must pay an appropriate price!
Europa: My oath?
The man reaches to the sky, and in his hand appears a blindingly white bolt of lightning.
As Europa reels back in fright, Gabriel steps in front of her.
Gabriel: Wait!
Somber Man: Aren't you...
Gabriel: Who are you? You could at least tell us your name before doing this.
Somber Man: You stand before Zeus, guardian and overseer of order. I am also Europa's father.
Lyria: Europa's...
Lyria: Huh? Europa's dad?
Zeus: Europa was created using a part of my core.
Zeus: Though we are not related in the way that you mortals are familiar with, it is only natural that I consider her my offspring.
Zeus: And when a child commits an offense, it is their parent's responsibility to mete out punishment.
Zeus: Europa has broken the oath she made to me and left her island. For that, she must pay the price.
Gabriel: I was the one who took her away from that island. I didn't know anything about why she was there.
Gabriel: Therefore Europa hasn't done anything wrong. All she did was take the hand that I offered to her.
Zeus: ...
I see. So you...
Zeus: My daughter committed a great sin. She should not have been allowed to leave that island.
Zeus: For her to not only do that, but return to this island of all places was the worst of all possible aggressions!
Seeing Zeus summoning lightning again, (Captain) steps in front of Europa and prepares to fight.
Vyrn: Wh-what was that!
Something that sounds like people moaning in pain reverberates throughout the city, and intense winds fill the surrounding air with snow.
Lyria: Eep!
Zeus: Damnation! It's detected her!
The abrupt blizzard quickly obstructs the crew members' vision and begins sapping their bodies of warmth.
Europa: Urgh...
Gabriel: Europa, are you all right? Stay strong!
Europa: I-I hear voices in my head!
The blizzard starts blowing even harder as if to drown out Europa's voice, momentarily leaving all assembled unable to see even what's right in front of them.
Gabriel: Europa? Where did you go!
After that brief instant, Europa is nowhere to be found.
As the crew members fend off hypothermia to frantically search for her, they are blinded by a flash of white lightning.

Call of the Snow: Scene 3

After waking up in a building, Europa finds the room that she had seen in her dreams. Upon touching an ice pillar within it, her lost memories come flooding back to her. The rest of the crew members find themselves suddenly transported some distance away from the city, which is now in the middle of a fierce blizzard. They quickly attempt to go rescue Europa, but Zeus appears to stop them and begins speaking of the sin that she committed.

Europa: (It's freezing... Am I having that dream again? How else could I feel affected by the cold...)
Despite her half-asleep assertion, the sensation of the cold floor on her skin does in fact drag her bit by bit into consciousness.
Europa: This isn't a dream? Where am I?
Europa: ...!
(Captain)! Gabriel! Lyria, Vyrn!
Europa's voice reverberates fruitlessly off of the walls.
Europa: What could have happened? In any case, I must start looking for them.
Europa: ...?
What was that?
Europa looks around in search of the sound.
Suddenly she notices a faint light shining from the end of a passage as if to beckon her ahead.
Europa: Is there something down here?
Drawn to the light, Europa slowly walks down the corridor.
Europa: ...!
She eventually reaches a large hall.
Surrounded by throngs of statues is an enormous pillar of ice that pierces through the ceiling.
Europa: This is like the place I saw in my dream...
Europa: Urgh!
Europa squirms in pain as fragmented memories surface.
Europa: (This is indeed the place that I've been seeing in my dreams...)
Europa: ...
Europa takes a deep breath and begins threading her way though the statues toward the center of the room.
Europa: (My legs are hesitant to move forward... Something deep inside me is screaming that I can still turn back.)
Europa: (Whatever it is that lies ahead frightens me terribly, but my desire to know drives me forward.)
Europa: (I have to learn what that dream is, what it is that they're trying to tell me.)
Europa: ...
Under the gaze of the statues, Europa extends her hand toward the pillar.
The moment that her trembling hand touches the ice...
Europa: Ah... Ahhh...
Europa: Ahhh!
Excruciating pain shoots through Europa's body as torrents of memories flow into her, causing her to collapse to the ground.
Around that time, the rest of the crew find themselves in an unfamiliar place.
Gabriel: Where...
Vyrn: What's goin' on? Weren't we in the city just a second ago?
The members of the crew had suddenly been engulfed in a white light as they searched for Europa in the blizzard.
After it faded, they found themselves standing in a field of snow.
Vyrn: Wh-whoa! The blizzard's gotten crazy over there!
Lyria: Is that the capital behind all that snow? It's like it doesn't want to let anyone approach...
Gabriel: ...
I can feel Europa's pain and suffering coming from inside that blizzard.
Vyrn: What? We gotta go help her!
???: You shall not.
The crew members hear a familiar voice as white lightning appears to block their path.
Vyrn: Whoa!
Vyrn: Wait, it's this old fart again! Why've you gotta keep gettin' in our way?
Ignoring Vyrn's anger, Zeus looks up at the blizzard covering the city.
Zeus: Now that it's come to this, there is nothing that you can do.
Zeus: Everything that blizzard touches will be frozen solid. Should you enter it, your body and even your soul will quickly become encased in ice.
Zeus: That blizzard is my daughter's sin given form. No matter what you may be to her, it will bear its fangs against you regardless.
Zeus: ...
Her mistake was simply too grave.
Zeus: Though she lost her memories, she could not discard the truth of what she did, and what was created would have eventually consumed even its master.
Zeus: Therefore I placed her on a faraway, secluded island, but now you've...
  1. What did Europa do?

Choose: What did Europa do?
Zeus: ...
Zeus thinks for a moment and then lets out a sigh.
Zeus: Very well. I suppose that it would be appropriate for you to know.
Zeus: Learn what you have brought out into the world, what you have been traveling with, then repent your mistake.
With that, Zeus begins to recount a story.
It is the story of Europa's past, that even she had forgotten and consigned to the icy winds.

What It Means to Love

Long ago, Europa lived on Tyros Island and was worshiped as a goddess by its inhabitants. As she grew frustrated by her inability to love them the way that they loved her, a plague eventually spread across the island. In a last-ditch effort to fulfill the islanders' wish that she free them from their suffering, she unleashes all of her power and accidentally freezes every living thing on the island. The weight of her sin causes her to lose her memory, and Zeus condemns her to live in solitude as punishment.

Europa: This is a tale from long ago, when the being known as "Europa" had only just been born into this world.
Europa: It is the morbid saga of an ignorant, foolish primal beast.
Boy: Goddess, Goddess, look! My sister and I baked some cookies for you!
Man: Goddess, please accept these flowers. I've been raising them with my wife and children for you.
Europa: My! What delicious-looking cookies and wonderful-looking flowers!
Europa: Thank you both very much. I will happily accept these.
Europa: This scene took place back when Tyros Island was still full of life and light.
Europa: When I had only just been born and was wandering the skies, it was the kind people of this nation who took me in.
Europa: They were all very kind, and provided me with everything I could ask for—daily necessities, flowers, confections, even knowledge.
Europa: I was treated like their child, their granddaughter, their sister, their friend.
Europa: ...
Europa: However, the benevolence they showed me eventually began to weigh on my mind.
Old Woman: Oh my... What's wrong, Goddess? You seem awfully gloomy.
Europa: Ah, I'm sorry. I'm just a little troubled about something...
Old Woman: Dear oh dear... Would you be willing to share with this little old lady what it is that's bothering you?
Old Woman: I might be able to do something to help you.
Europa: It's nothing worthy of such attention. I'm just concerned with how I've received so much from you all.
Europa: I do not have great knowledge like you all do, nor can I create anything of use.
Europa: I simply wish I could somehow repay you for all that you've done for me...
Old Woman: Why, nothing could be further from the truth!
Old Woman: You have preformed many miracles for us, Goddess.
Old Woman: I assure you that none among us have forgotten how you saved us all from the famine that occurred shortly after you arrived here.
Old Woman: And ever since then, you've provided us with pure water that's caused our soil to provide grand bounties.
Old Woman: Moreover, you purified our water of the monster blood that corrupted it, saving many of us who were suffering from that poison.
Europa: But that is different. I merely did what I should have done. I possessed the means to solve the problem.
Old Woman: Even so, that does not change the fact that you saved us.
Old Woman: So please, smile for us again.
Old Woman: Just seeing you smile is enough for us to feel your love.
The old woman gently grasps Europa's hands as she caringly speaks to her, and the primal replies with an awkward smile.
Europa: (Both the aid I rendered them and this smile I show her now are merely me doing what I should do.)
Europa: (Therefore, this is doubtless not the love that you truly desire from me.)
Europa: (Despite everything you've given me, I'm still unable to repay you all.)
Europa: "I want to reciprocate the love these people have for me with my own love."
Europa: At some point that wish had been born within me, and it was growing stronger every day.
Europa: However, though I understood the concept of love, I was unable to detect it within myself.
Europa: At the time, the only emotion that influenced my actions was the machine-like impulse to "do what I should do."
Europa: I never felt the emotion they displayed that moved them to care for and treasure others.
Europa's desire grows stronger and stronger until it eventually envelops her heart like a dark fog.
Then one day, the previously tranquil island of Tyros is beset by a terrible disease the likes of which none had ever seen before.
Man: It hurts... It hurts... Arghhh!
Europa: A gruesome scene was playing out in the cathedral near the center of the capital. Here the afflicted had been gathered, where they suffered the disease's horrific symptoms.
Europa: Strewn atop the cold stone floor, they waited as parts of their body transformed, slowly becoming no longer recognizable as people.
Europa: Those who had fallen sick responded to neither medicine nor treatment, and did not even have the means to escape their pain through death.
Europa: Such was the nature of the plague that spread through Tyros Island.
Boy: Goddess... Goddess... It hurts... I'm so thirsty...
Europa: Let's help you sit up a little. Now, drink slowly, sip by sip. That's right, you don't need to rush...
Even after drinking the water Europa offers him, the suffering in the boy's voice does not wane.
Seeing this, Europa raises her head and looks upon her surroundings with a pained expression on her face.
Europa: (I am incapable of curing them...)
Europa: (No matter what medicine or treatment we try, the disease just keeps getting worse...)
Europa: (We quarantined the infected immediately, but the disease has already spread across the island. There's nothing we can do to stop it...)
Europa: I was powerless.
Europa: The people looked to me for salvation, and I could do nothing.
Europa: As my efforts continuously failed to bear fruit, some people began to end their own lives in fear of the disease.
Europa: Even in the face of their suffering and despair, I still could not perform a miracle for them.
As the days pass by, more and more patients are brought in, and those afflicted by the disease continue their grotesque transformations.
Continuously exposed to their tortured screams, Europa's mental stability is ground down bit by bit.
Europa: I'm sorry... I can't do anything...
Europa: I cannot cure you. I cannot heal you. I cannot save you. I can't do anything!
Woman: Please don't cry, Goddess.
As Europa breaks down into tears, a woman calls out to her with a gentle voice.
She turns around to look at her and sees a sea of sickly faces looking at her with kind smiles.
Old Woman: ...
Please, Goddess. Would you grant we pitiful souls your mercy?
Europa slowly blinks, confused by the softly spoken words.
Woman: Europa, our goddess, please save us from this pain...
Man: For you to release us from this suffering by your own hand would be the greatest salvation we can hope for...
Boy: Goddess, please... I don't want it to hurt anymore...
Europa is shocked by the sudden bombardment of ardent pleas.
Europa: (Release them from their suffering? How can I do that, when I'm so powerless against it?)
Europa: (No, I must not give up, no matter how many times I fail!)
Europa: (The people of this country have given me many things.)
Europa: (The only impulse, the only desire I have now is to free them of this pain as quickly as possible...)
Old Woman: Just seeing you smile is enough for us to feel your love.
Europa: (If this is what they want from me... If they would call this emotion "love," then I...)
Europa: ...
Very well. If that is your wish, I will do so.
Europa: I shall devote every fiber of my being to releasing you from this torment.
Europa clutches her hands before her as if in prayer and unleashes her power.
The only thought in her head is that she wishes to free the people from their suffering.
Europa: Even should it drive this body of mine to crumble to dust...
Europa: I shall allow all of you no more suffering or pain!
Europa: Thus a miracle occurred. All of the island's inhabitants were indeed freed from pain.
Europa: Huff... Huff...
Europa: With this... everyone will...
When the light fades, Europa is left alone lying on the floor, bereft of all her strength.
Sure that she has accomplished her goal, she looks around the now-quiet cathedral.
Europa: Ah...
In Europa's eyes are reflected the image of many things that had until now been alive.
Staring at her are legions of icy statues, expressions of agony still on their faces.
Europa: Why? Your pain is gone now...
Europa: Why are you looking at me like that?
Europa: Did I... Did I get it wrong? Was this not your desire?
The cold statues offer no response to her questions.
Making her way through them, Europa stumbles out of the cathedral.
Europa: Ah... Aaah!
The people, the birds, the cats roaming the back allies, the dogs sitting on porches, even the insects—none have been spared.
Everything living thing has become an inanimate ice statue.
Europa: Why has... No! No, this isn't what I wanted!
Europa: Aahhhhh!
Europa: My "miracle" had indeed released everyone from the suffering caused by the disease.
Europa: However, the method by which it did so was too atrocious for words.
Europa: I was left unable to do anything but stand there weeping in that now-barren land.
Zeus: ...
Europa: I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry...
Zeus: Should I take that to mean that you're responsible for the state of this island?
Europa: ...?
Europa: Are you... Zeus? This is our first meeting, yet I know you...
Zeus: Answer me. All life has disappeared from this island. Was that your doing?
Europa: ...?
I don't know... Why am I...
Europa: Why am I here?
Europa: I feel like something very sad happened... but I don't remember. I don't remember, but my heart hurts so much...
Zeus: ...
Zeus: Europa, my daughter, fruit of my own core. You have committed a great sin. As your father, I shall mete out your punishment.
Europa: Sin? I've committed a sin?
Zeus: Even if you have no memory of it, its evidence surrounds us.
Zeus: Come with me. You shall atone for your sin until the day you cease to operate.
Though confused, Europa takes Zeus's hand as instructed.
With the two primal beasts gone, the lifeless island is filled with true silence.
Europa: The fact that I had unleashed power beyond my limits was surely part of it, however...
Europa: It was ultimately due to the weakness of my own heart that I lost all memories of my sin.
Europa: Having forgotten everything, I lived alone on a faraway island as Zeus had ordered me to.
Europa: I neither spoke nor interacted with anyone, condemned to live my long life in solitude.
Europa: That is the story of what happened to me before I met Gabriel.
Europa: The entirety of this foolish primal beast's unforgivable past.

What It Means to Love: Scene 2

After telling the story of Europa's past, Zeus explains that the blizzard is comprised of the remnants of Europa's power and her people's fixation on her. He attempts to tell the crew members that she cannot be saved, but they declare that they won't give up. After Gabriel points out his compassion for Europa, Zeus grants the group his protection and entrusts them with saving her.

Gabriel: ...
Zeus finishes his tale of Europa's hitherto unknown past.
Having learned what occurred on this island and of the tragedy that befell Europa here, the crew members all wear grim expressions.
Zeus: ...
Her heart was unable to bear the weight of her mistake. That is why she lost her memories.
Zeus: After all, she had condemned to an icy death not only those afflicted by the disease, but every living thing on this island.
Zeus: It was her people's desire for her love that caused Europa to do this.
Zeus: You mortals demand that those you offer up your love to devote their own in equal measure. That self-centered attitude is what drove her to commit this sin.
Zeus pauses for a moment and gazes at the enormous snowstorm covering the city.
Zeus: That blizzard was formed by the inhabitants' obsession with Europa and their anger at being unjustly condemned to this existence.
Zeus: It is now strong enough to easily freeze not only mortals but even our cores.
Zeus: Anyone who enters that storm, even the primarch of water, will suffer the same fate as all those who have come before.
Gabriel: Do you mean that the statues we saw on the way here were the explorers who came to this island and never returned?
Lyria: ...!
We need to go save Europa quickly!
Zeus: You shall not. I will not permit you to go after her.
Vyrn: Why not? She's like your daughter, isn't she?
Vyrn: She's gonna die if we don't do anything!
Zeus: I'm telling you that there is no point. You will not last long in that blizzard.
Zeus: If she had not come here... No, if she had never left that island that was under my protection, this never would have happened.
Zeus: The core of that blizzard is the remnants of Europa's power.
Zeus: As long as that power existed, Europa would have eventually been drawn here.
Zeus: I had placed her on an island filled with my power and prevented her from touching the outside world to prevent that, but it was all for nothing.
Zeus: Your taking of her from that place has ruined everything, Gabriel.
Zeus: I understand that I should not hold you accountable, as you knew nothing.
Zeus: However, I cannot help but wish that you had never found her.
Gabriel: ...
Zeus: You need not give up your lives for naught. Consign your memories of my daughter to the past and depart from this island.
  1. No.

Choose: No.
Zeus: What?
  1. I'm going to save Europa no matter what.

Choose: I'm going to save Europa no matter what.
Gabriel: As will I, of course. I'm not giving up on saving her, no matter how hard it's going to be.
Zeus: Fools... You would throw away your own lives with no hope?
Lyria: No matter how bad things look, we would never let a crewmate... let a friend die like this!
Vyrn: That's right! We're not ones to back down just 'cause something's dangerous!
Looking at the crew members' determined faces, Zeus lets out a sigh.
Zeus: Your determination perplexes me. Why risk so much for her?
Zeus: We are primal beasts—naught but artificial lives.
Zeus: Unlike mortals, we have no blood relations or ancestry, no history or traditions to preserve. We are but a facsimile of life.
Zeus: ...
Lyria: Primal beast or mortal, everyone who's come together with us on our journey is a precious friend!
Zeus: ...
Gabriel: Whether our life is real or we have blood relations doesn't matter to me in the slightest.
Gabriel: Europa is important to me. That I feel that way right now is all that matters to me.
Zeus: ...
Gabriel: What you really wanted was to protect her, wasn't it?
Gabriel: You keep talking about sin and atonement, but what you actually did was keep Europa protected on that island instead of disposing of her.
Gabriel: Was that not because you didn't want to lose her?
Zeus: I was...
Zeus attempts to object to Gabriel's assertion, but quickly closes his mouth, not knowing what to say.
In doing so, he reveals that there is truth in her words.
Gabriel: We just want one chance to save her.
Lyria: Please, Zeus! We promise that we'll find a way to make it work!
Zeus: ...
Zeus: I shall use my power to grant you protection.
Zeus: However, even that will only allow you to withstand the cold for a short while.
Zeus: The moment that it fails, the blizzard will freeze you down to your very soul.
Zeus: Therefore, be sure that you stop it before that happens.
Gabriel: Thank you, Zeus.
Giving no response to Gabriel's words of gratitude, Zeus raises his hand to the sky as he begins to unleash his power.
Zeus: Though I cannot see your suicidal actions as anything but foolish...
Zeus: Please, save my daughter.
As if to erase his words, Zeus's lightning paints the crew members' surroundings with pure white light as it envelops them.

What It Means to Love: Scene 3

After regaining her memory, Europa decides to share in the fate of the people she froze in order to atone for her sin, but the crew members suddenly appear before her. Seeing them struggle with all their strength to save her, Europa recalls all of the time she has spent with mortals and finally understands what love is. Now able to understand what the frozen statues actually desire from her, she grants them true rest.

Europa: Aaah!
Still being buffeted by the indoor blizzard, Europa sits curled up into a ball as if to block out the incessant voices.
Europa: (I've finally remembered what happened... My miracle didn't save anyone...)
Europa: (Even after their lives were ended, their souls were bound by icy shackles to this land for eternity...)
Europa: (This is my sin... My unforgivable crime...)
Surrounded by voices and gradually freezing from the cold, Europa slowly raises her head.
Her gaze is fixed on the enormous pillar of ice that is still emanating a cold light.
Europa: This is the embodiment of my sin. The curse that I gave birth to...
Europa: I'm sorry. Even now that I've regained my memory, I still do not know how to save you...
Europa: Therefore, allow me to at least share in your fate.
With those words, Europa spreads out her arms toward the statues as if to accept everything.
Europa: Please take all of me. My life, my soul, everything...
Europa: There is no other way by which I can atone...
As if responding to her plea, the storm begins to blow more strongly, and voices of people groaning in pain start to fill the air.
Europa: Urgh!
Europa: (Ahh... So this is the pain I've made them suffer for so long...)
Europa: I'm truly sorry... Please, never forgive me for doing this to you...
With that, Europa closes her eyes, accepting the end.
But the end has not yet come.
  1. Europa!

Choose: Europa!
Europa: ...!
(Captain)?
Following a thunderous boom, Europa hears her friends calling out her name.
Gabriel: Europa! Wait just a moment, we'll be right—
Europa: Gabriel!
Europa: ...!
No, you mustn't! You have to leave, or you all will be frozen too!
The crew members try to make their way to Europa, but the frosty winds start blowing even harder as if to repel them.
Gabriel: Ngh!
Europa: Gabriel!
Europa: No! Please stay away!
Europa: This is my punishment! No one needs to bear it but me! So please, run away!
  1. Never!

Choose: Never!
Europa: (Captain)... Why will you not listen to me?
Europa: I just have to accept it, I just have to die, and all of this can be over!
Gabriel: Your death won't free the souls that are trapped here.
Gabriel: They would be forced to keep suffering forever. That's not what you want for them, is it?
Europa: ...
Lyria: Let's think of a way to truly save these people!
Vyrn: There's gotta be something we can do! If we work together, I know we can fix this!
Europa: Gabriel, Lyria, Vyrn...
Lyria: Eek!
Vyrn: Darn it, we can't get close!
Refusing to let Europa go, the blizzard becomes more violent to impede the crew.
Europa: No, please stop... Please, not them...
As she watches her friends begin to freeze, Europa begins pleading for mercy.
However, the winds merely continue to blow even harder.
Europa: Lyria? Vyrn? No, it can't be!
Gabriel: Hey, Europa?
Europa: Gabriel... Please, don't let...
Gabriel: Everyone loves you, you know? How do you feel about them?
Europa: They all... love?
Gabriel: Yes. Needless to say, so do—
Europa: No! No! Gabriel!
Europa reaches out to the primarch, not wanting to believe what she's seeing.
Her hand is suddenly grasped by another's, and she turns to see (Captain), almost entirely frozen, looking her in the eyes.
Europa: (Captain)...
Europa: Why... Why would you all go so far for my sake?
  1. Because you're important to us.

Choose: Because you're important to us.
Europa: ...!
  1. Let's leave this place together, Europa.

Choose: Let's leave this place together, Europa.
Frost falls off of (Captain)'s nearly frozen lips as they are forced with great effort into a smile.
Not a moment later, the captain's body becomes completely covered in ice and stops moving.
Europa: Ah...
As if that smile dispersed the fog clouding her thoughts, Europa has a sudden realization.
Boy: Goddess, Goddess, look! My sister and I baked some cookies for you!
Man: Goddess, please accept these flowers. I've been raising them with my wife and children for you.
Old Woman: Just seeing you smile is enough for us to feel your love.
Gabriel: I'd like you to continue learning about mortals, Europa.
Gabriel: And if in the end you're able to see them as precious and beautiful beings through and through, that will make me very happy.
Zeus: Europa, my daughter, fruit of my own core. You have committed a great sin. As your father, I shall mete out your punishment.
Memories of the time that she has spent with people flash through Europa's head.
Europa: I... I finally understand...
Europa: This warm, dazzlingly bright, beautiful emotion... This feeling of tenderness for others, this understanding that someone is precious to me...
Europa: This is love... What I have always been given, and what I wanted so badly that day...
Along with her revelation, Europa realizes that the spiteful voices she had been hearing have changed.
Ice Statue: Goddess... I'm tired of the pain...
Ice Statue: We know that it's cruel for us to ask this of you, but please, lay us to rest...
Ice Statue: We have long lost all hope for life. All we wish for now is to truly die...
Ice Statue: Please, Goddess... End us by your own hand...
Europa: So that was your true wish... I'm sorry that I wasn't able to understand at the time.
Europa: Now is the time to bring your suffering to a close. I shall deliver you the salvation you seek!
Europa resolutely reaches out to the pillar of ice.
When her hand touches it, it lets out a dazzling light and fills the room with a gentle burst of heat.
Ice Statue: It's so warm... I can finally sleep...
Ice Statue: It doesn't hurt anymore... Thank you, Goddess...
Ice Statue: We're so sorry to make you do this, Goddess...
Ice Statue: Please, for the sake of we who must leave this world now... Find happiness for yourself.
Europa: I promise never to forget. I will always remember all of you as well as my sin.
Europa: Therefore, please rest peacefully. Farewell, my beloved people of Tyros...
Europa quietly prays as she watches the island's residents turn into light and float up into the heavens.
At some point the pillar of ice had melted, leaving behind a beautiful spear in Europa's hand.

What It Means to Love: Scene 4

The pillar of ice thaws, leaving behind a beautiful spear in Europa's hands. Resolved to bear the weight of her sin from now on, Europa states her desire to continue traveling the skies and share her newfound understanding of love. Hearing this, Zeus accepts her decision and entrusts her to (Captain).

Vyrn: Urgh... Huh?
Lyria: Wasn't I just frozen?
Europa: ...!
Lyria, Vyrn! Thank goodness that you're all right!
As the snow melts, Europa's friends begin to wake up.
Europa starts to look relieved, but then notices a figure still unmoving on the ground.
Europa: (Captain)?
Vyrn: H-hey! (Captain)! Wake up, everything's okay now!
Despite no longer being frozen, (Captain) is completely unresponsive to Vyrn's call.
Zeus: I knew that this would happen. I gave fair warning that you would suffer the fate of those who have come before.
Lyria: Zeus!
Having suddenly appeared before the crew members, Zeus glances at their unresponsive captain and takes on a grim countenance.
Zeus: A soul that has been frozen will never thaw again. I very much doubt that this mortal will ever wake.
Upon hearing Zeus's words, Europa's face loses color as she is overcome with despair, until...
Europa: Ah...
Vyrn: Europa?
Europa: No, no we can still undo this. There is still warmth in (Captain)'s body!
Vyrn: Re-really? But how the heck do you thaw someone's soul?
Vyrn's panicked inquiry causes Europa to remember something.
In the picture book that Gabriel had given her, a prince saved a princess from a curse.
Europa: ...
Vyrn: ...?
Europa? What're you...
Vyrn's voice trails off as all gathered are suddenly rendered speechless.
Before their eyes is the sight of Europa kissing (Captain) on the lips, as if to recreate the scene from the picture book.
Lyria: Wh-wh-wha...
What are you doing, Europa!
As the shocked group watches on, (Captain)'s pale skin begins to take on color again.
Eventually Europa backs away and the captain's eyes open.
Europa: Good morning, (Captain).
  1. Europa?

Choose: Europa?
Europa: Yes, I'm right here. I'm so glad that you've woken up...
Vyrn: Ugh... Waaah! I thought you were gonna stay like that forever, (Captain)!
Lyria: Are you all right? Does everything feel normal?
Having been suddenly leapt on by Lyria and Vyrn right after waking up, (Captain) nods with confidence while patting them on the head.
Zeus: Inconceivable... Why in the skies did that...
Europa: I am now capable of answering that question. The warmth of my love melted the ice.
Zeus: Love? Love you say? That is naught more than an emotion. How could it thaw a soul that had once been frozen?
Europa: You speak too lightly of it, Zeus. Love sometimes grants us the power to perform miracles.
Europa: In the past, I did not understand what love was, and found myself unable to connect with others in the true sense of the word.
Europa: That immaturity caused me to leave the souls of this island's people bound here for years upon years...
Zeus: ...
Europa: But now I can understand. After meeting Gabriel, I learned about the world, and learned about mortals.
Europa: I can now see the love that was within me all along.
Europa: I have received much love during my lifetime. From the people of this island, from Gabriel, from my crewmates...
Europa: I can now see that you taking me from this island and secluding me in that place was love as well.
Zeus: ...
I merely meted out your punishment. There was no...
Europa: You kept me there to protect me, didn't you?
Europa: What can that be called other than mercy? I believe that the benevolence in your heart moved you to do so.
Zeus: ...
Europa: My crime will surely never disappear.
Europa: However, I wish to spend my life sharing this wonderful emotion called love with many people as I bear the weight of my past.
Europa: Should this world become filled with love, with this unadulterated care for others, something beautiful will surely be born.
Europa: Therefore... I will not return to that island. In order to fulfill my calling, I wish to continue my journey with (Captain).
Europa speaks with unflinching determination in her eyes. For a while, Zeus says nothing in response.
Zeus: ...
I would imagine that nothing I could say will change your mind.
Europa: Indeed.
Zeus: Then I will say no more on the matter. However, know that should you ever err in that way again, I will see you returned to that island.
Europa: Of course.
Zeus turns his gaze from Europa to the spear lying by her side.
Zeus: That spear has absorbed the emotions of many mortals and become a powerful weapon. It will make you capable of much more than you were before.
Zeus: If your heart were to fall into disarray, you will likely cause a tragedy even greater than the one that occurred here.
Europa: An even worse tragedy...
Zeus: Therefore, I have a favor to ask of you, (Captain).
(Captain) looks up startled, not having expected to be brought into the conversation.
Zeus glares at the captain, looking somewhat dissatisfied as he continues.
Zeus: My understanding is that, among mortals, a kiss establishes a vow between two people to spend their lives together.
Zeus: In other words, you are now Europa's spouse. As such, I would have you watch over her to make sure that she does not err again.
Lyria: Wha?
Vyrn: S-spouse?
Gabriel: Oh my!
Europa: Spouse! What a wonderful word!
Europa: Please take good care of me in sickness and in health, (Captain).
Vyrn: How about you hold your horses, little lady!
  1. That's a bit sudden...

Choose: That's a bit sudden...
Zeus: Why do you hesitate? Surely you don't mean to tell me that you find her unfit?
Pressured by the primal beast's stern expression, (Captain)'s head reflexively shakes in denial.
Gabriel: Hey, Zeus? Perhaps you should drop this. You're troubling (Captain).
Zeus: Oh? Well, even if it's as a friend, so long as you watch over her it matters not to me.
(Captain) eagerly accepts Zeus's revised proposal.
Zeus: Thank you.
Zeus: Ah, and should you ever decide that you're ready to become Europa's spouse, I will happily accept you into our family.
Vyrn: Hey, enough of that already!
As Zeus begins arguing with Vyrn, he seems relaxed, like he's been freed of a great weight on his shoulders.
As (Captain) is watching the soothing scene play out, Europa approaches.
Europa: (Captain), I wish to journey with you as I convey this love to many people.
Europa: If everyone in these skies, mortal and primal beast alike, learns through love to care for and respect one another...
Europa: Then we will surely be able to tear down the walls that separate us and live happily, hand in hand.
Europa: That is my dream now. The duty that I find myself called to.
Europa: Therefore... Would you be willing to assist me?
  1. Of course.

Choose: Of course.
Europa: Hehe... Thank you very much.
Europa: I hope that we continue to journey together happily ever after, (Captain).
With that, Europa flashes a smile filled with compassion and benevolence, so beautiful as to surely enrapture anyone who beholds it.
