Auguste of the Dead - Chapter 6: Day of the Meg - Episode 2

Just as the small island comes into sight, the crew discovers that Roger and the Ocean Research Center staff, all zombies, had been hiding on the boat. As the mass of zombies attack, (Captain) urges Meg to go on ahead by herself. Meanwhile, on the island, the chairperson asks why the flashy man had informed Meg of the base's location. The flashy man says the chairperson and Meg must fight to determine the fate of Auguste.

Ellen: There! I see it!
The crew squints at a faint outline in the distance.
Lyria: So that's the island we're looking for...
Vyrn: You think Lowain and everyone else are gonna be there?
Meg: They will. Mari too!
As they sail closer to the island, (Captain) and company hear a noise coming from the boat's cabin.
Vyrn: Huh? Didja hear somethin'?
Lyria: Are there other people riding on this boat, Ellen?
Ellen: This boat belongs to the research center, so there shouldn't be anyone else on here.
Suspicious, (Captain) walks over to the cabin and cautiously opens the door.
Roger: Aaaarrrg...
Zombie Researcher: Graaah...
Vyrn: Eeek! Isn't that... Roger?
Several zombies leap out from the cabin onto the deck.
Ellen: The researcher is here too! They must have gotten on this boat after falling from the helicopter!
Meg: I'm glad they're safe, but I guess Roger's a zombie now too...
Ellen: Eep!
Zombie Researcher: Aaaaarrg...
When a zombie tries to attack Ellen, (Captain) quickly sends him flying. But the zombie is soon back on his feet with practically no damage taken.
Zombie Researcher: Graaah...
Vyrn: This is bad! We don't have time to deal with these guys... We gotta get to the island as soon as we can!
Ellen: Ugh... We're so close to our destination!
  1. Leave this to me and go on ahead.
  2. Let's split up.

Choose: Leave this to me and go on ahead.

Vyrn: (Captain) has a point. We can't have everyone stuck here when we've got things to do on the island!
Vyrn: Meg, you go on ahead alone! We'll catch up with you later!
Meg: Uh, hello, flag much? That's exactly what Illnott did, and look what happened to her!
Go to "Continue 1"

Choose: Let's split up.

Meg: Catura said splitting up is a huge flag, and that people never get back together safely!

Continue 1

Vyrn: But we don't have time! Don'tcha wanna save Mari?
Meg: ...!
Meg: All right... Then I'll leave this to all of you! Don't you dare let this flag get you, you hear?
Lyria: Please be careful! Don't do anything too dangerous by yourself!
Meg: Thanks, Lyria.
Ellen: We're still quite a distance away. Think you can handle the swim?
Meg: I'll be fine. I practiced swimming a lot in the past, and Ursula can help pull me to shore too.
Ursula: Sharrrk! Sharrrk!
Meg: Oh, that's right. I should probably change into something that's easier to swim in.
Meg rummages through her bag and swiftly produces a change of clothes.
Meg: There we go! Wait for me, Mari!
Once she is changed into her swimsuit, Meg steps up to the edge of the boat, memories of Mari flooding back to her.
Mari: It's been so long! How've you been?
Mari: I made sure I knew every niche and corner of Auguste so I can show Meg around when the time comes.
Mari: Hehe! I found a ton of nice places around town, so let's go check them out together once this is all over!
Meg: Hey, (Captain)... Once this is all over, I want to take Mari with us on our journey.
Vyrn: Huh?
Meg: Sorry, let's save this for later! Think about it, will you?
And with that, Meg dives into the waves.
Vyrn: Uh, you just gonna set your own flag after all that...
Meanwhile, the chairperson has already noticed the boat closing in on the island.
Chairperson: Meddlesome twits! Set on spoiling my plans, are we?
Flashy Man: It seems their boat has stopped in the middle of the water due to some trouble, and the girl in question is heading for us by herself.
Chairperson: I'm not about to let her destroy the plan I worked so hard to put together!
Chairperson: But how did they find out about this place? Did that oceanographer take a wild guess or something?
Flashy Man: I told them.
Chairperson: You... what? Say that again?
Flashy Man: I told the girl that this is where you were.
Chairperson: What!
Zombie Fish: Graaaawr!
Shocked, the chairperson immediately calls several of his zombie fish over.
Chairperson: You... informed them of this place? What were your intentions in doing that? Tell me!
Chairperson: I kept you alive because you were useful. But if you don't give me a valid reason for your tattling... I'll rip you apart right here!
Flashy Man: I support your motives, but I also support the girl in her quest. Do you take issue with that?
Chairperson: Of course I do! You're not making any sense!
Flashy Man: I want you and the girl to fight to decide what happens to Auguste from here on out.
Chairperson: What? I have no idea what you're going on about!
Flashy Man: No matter which of you win, I can accept the outcome.
Chairperson: Forget it. It's no use asking!
Get him, zombie fish!
Zombie Fish: Graaaawr!
Multitudes of zombie fish gather and hurl themselves at the man. However, the fish's movements stop before they can touch their target.
Zombie Fish: ...!
Chairperson: Wh-what? What's wrong with you all?
All of the zombie fish fall to the ground around the man and grow still, as if bowing to him in reverence.
Flashy Man: The girl will be arriving soon. Shouldn't you get ready?
Chairperson: ...!
His gaze intense, the man walks closer to the chairperson, who flinches.
Flashy Man: Prepare yourself. The one who loses heart first will be defeated.
Flashy Man: Life or death... I'm leaving the fate of Auguste to the two of you.
Chairperson: Who in the skies... are you?
The chairperson trembles, realizing the person in front of him is by no means an ordinary man, but someone much more powerful than he had imagined.
