Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies - The War - Chapter 1: The Ashen Precipice - Episode 1

(Captain) awakens in an unfamiliar place. Lyria is also there—perhaps due to the life link they share. As the two wonder why (Captain) has been deemed an enemy of the world, a mysterious girl appears.

There is no pain, no cold, no heat.
The darkness is surprisingly comforting.
"So warm." The familiar voice touches (Captain)'s subconscious and allows the captain's body to re-materialize.
(Captain) awakens in an unfamiliar place.
Strange. How is the captain still standing on two feet?
(Captain) follows the warmth in the fingertips to find another figure there.
  1. Lyria...

Choose: Lyria...

Lyria: Mng...
Lyria slowly opens up both eyes in response.
Lyria: Huh? (Captain)? I...
Lyria's eyes flicker, a cloudy expression on her visage.
Lyria: Where are we?
(Captain) can do little more than shrug in response.
Lyria: What happened?
Lyria: Zooey suddenly... You collapsed right in front of me, and then...
(Captain) thinks back to the moment before everything went dark, and together they try to fill in the gaps.
Lyria: I thought you were going to die, so I ran over and grabbed your hands.
Lyria: That's when I thought you might still be alive...
Lyria: "Your hands are so warm," I said.
Lyria's fingers interlock with (Captain)'s.
Lyria: Was that a dream? Or... is this the dream?
  1. I don't think it's a dream.
  2. Hm, it could be the latter.

Choose: I don't think it's a dream.

Lyria: So that means we're really... dead?
(Captain) responds with a vague headshake.
For death would have been the inevitable result of being pierced by Zooey's ray of light.
But being here with Lyria now, the captain isn't quite sure how this is any different from being alive.
However, all is not well in this "dream."
  1. I'm sorry.

Choose: Hm, it could be the latter.

Lyria: Are you in my dream, (Captain)? Or is it the other way around?
Lyria: Hehe, wouldn't it be nice if we were having the same dream?
There is a lonely quality to her faint chuckle.
  1. I'm sorry.

Choose: I'm sorry.
Choose: I'm sorry.

Lyria: What are you apologizing for?
(Captain) and Lyria share a deep bond through their life link.
If one dies, the other is equally doomed.
Lyria: There's not a single thing you need to apologize for, (Captain).
Lyria: It was my choice and my choice alone to form a life link with you.
Lyria: Back when I knew nothing about myself or the world, you went out of your way to save me.
Lyria: That was the day I made up my mind.
Lyria tightens her grip on the captain's hands.
Lyria: I'm so happy you don't have to go through this alone, (Captain).
Lyria: We can be together here.
Lyria's words are as warm as the touch of her hands.
Lyria: What's going to become of us?
Lyria: If we're really dead, does that mean this is the Otherworld?
Lyria: That doesn't seem to be the case either...
A milky white fog now pervades their surroundings.
The dreamlike nature of it all makes them feel uneasy.
Lyria: If we're stuck here, then... does that mean it's the end...
Lyria: Of our journey?
Stirred by Lyria's words, (Captain) thinks back to everything that's happened throughout their travels.
Lyria: There's so much I'm going to miss... Like staying up late in Katalina's room whenever I had trouble sleeping...
Lyria: Singing with Rackam as he cheerily pilots the Grandcypher.
Lyria: Taking in the scent of the floral tea that Rosetta would make me...
Lyria: Guessing the shapes of the clouds above with Eugen...
Lyria: Eating snacks and shopping for clothes with Io...
Lyria: And most of all, the precious time I spent with you and Vyrn...
Lyria's voice chokes up a bit.
Lyria: What does it mean to be an enemy of the world?
Lyria: I can't believe Zooey would do something like that without a good reason...
Lyria: She's definitely wrong about you, (Captain)! There's no way you're against the world!
(Captain) tries to calm the flustered Lyria.
Lyria: It just doesn't feel right not knowing what she was thinking...
Feeling the need to understand what exactly it means to be the world's enemy...
(Captain) nods in full agreement.
Lyria: It'd be too sad for everything to end without us knowing why.
In this closed-off space where nothing makes sense, Lyria's honest feelings are the only thing (Captain) can take heart in.
  1. We need to know.

Choose: We need to know.

Lyria: Yes, my thoughts exactly.
???: Do you really want to know?
Lyria: Huh?
