Yaia disappears without a trace during a haunted house investigation with the crew. The little girl finds herself waking up in a bedroom with no recollection of the previous events. There, she meets Graya and Ludine, an elderly couple who help fill in the gaps in her memory. They take in Yaia and begin to look after the little girl.

(Captain) and the crew receive a request to investigate a haunted house.

After gathering details from the client, the group heads to the destination.

Vyrn: Wait, is this the place? Looks a bit too... normal for a haunted house, if you ask me.

Vyrn: Sure is tidy too. Maybe the ghosts did some spring cleaning.

A large building stands before the crew. Though weathered, it remains in good condition.

Despite its harmless appearance, Lyria and Yaia huddle together behind the others, shivering in fear.

Yaia: Nghh...

Lyria: Oogh...

The two girls attempt to hide their apprehension, but their voices betray them.

1. Do you two want to wait outside?

Choose: Do you two want to wait outside?

Yaia: N-no, I'm okay! I have Big Brother and Charley Horse with me!

Lyria: Th-that's right! Let's stick together! Besides, it's scary waiting outside by myself...

Yaia & Lyria: Ahhh!

As an ominous sound travels from the depths of the house, Lyria and Yaia scream, unable to mask their terror anymore.

Yaia: Nnngh... Big Brother, can we hold hands please?

(Captain) gives a reassuring smile and reaches out for Yaia's hand.

Yaia: Ehehe, much better.

Lyria: H-here, Yaia! You can hold mine too!

Yaia: Yay! Now I'll feel twice as safe!

Lyria: Promise me you won't let go, okay?

Yaia: Okay! I promise!

Vyrn: Oh boy, are you guys gonna be okay? Every time we take a spooky request, you're always huddling together like penguins!

Thinking back on past missions, the captain flashes a weary smile.

Lyria: B-but I can't help it! I'm not good with scary things!

Lyria: This house might look normal, but there are supposed to be ghosts inside, remember?

Lyria: Wh-what if we run into one?

Yaia: Oh no... Do you think we will?

Color draining from her face, Yaia unconsciously tightens her grip on (Captain)'s hand.

Vyrn: Sheesh... We better get in and get out. I don't know how much more Lyria and Yaia can take.

Vyrn: Otherwise we're just gonna be stuck here staring at this old house forever.

Lyria: What? I d-don't want that!

Yaia: Nngh... I'll work hard so we can finish fast.

Exchanging nods, (Captain) and the crew enter the house.

Vyrn: All right, looks like this is the last room.

(Captain) checks the blueprints and gives a thumbs-up.

Lyria: So that means we're done, right?

Yaia: I didn't see any ghosts. Maybe they went on a trip?

Vyrn: Who knows? Anyways, let's head back and tell our client the house is clear.

With one last look around the room, (Captain) and company exit into the hallway.

Yaia: W-wait...

The little girl stops in her tracks, looking around frantically.

Lyria: What's wrong, Yaia?

Yaia: Charley Horse is gone! But I was hugging him just a second ago...

Yaia: Ahhh... Charley Horse, where are you?

Yaia's eyes fill with tears. Sensing her distress, (Captain) bends down and gently pats her head.

1. Let's look for Charley Horse together.

Choose: Let's look for Charley Horse together.

Yaia: Thanks, Big Brother...

Vyrn: Hard to believe she would've just dropped him somewhere... Well, let's split up and track him down!

Everyone heads off in different directions to search through the house's many rooms.

Vyrn: Hm?

Vyrn: Hey! Isn't that Charley Horse over there?

Hearing Vyrn call out, the others emerge into the hallway as he points toward a room.

Inside they see a forlorn Charley Horse sitting on top of a bed.

Yaia: Ah! There you are, Charley Horse!

Without wasting a second, Yaia runs into the room and scoops her precious friend up into her arms.

Lyria: Maybe Yaia put Charley Horse on the bed while we were looking around and forgot him there.

Vyrn: Yeah, I guess...

Vyrn: Wait, hang on. I'm pretty sure nobody went near that bed earlier...

Lyria: Huh? Come to think of it—

Suddenly, the door slams shut in the crew's faces, sending a deafening echo down the hallway.

Vyrn: Whoa!

Lyria: Oh no! Yaia!

1. Yaia!

Choose: Yaia!

(Captain) and the others try to forcibly pry open the door.

But despite their best efforts, it refuses to budge.

Lyria: Wh-what should we do? Don't tell me Yaia got taken by a ghost!

1. Stand back!

Choose: Stand back!

Sword unsheathed, the captain prepares to cut down the door.

But before the demolition can begin, the door swings open seemingly on its own.

Lyria: Yaia!

(Captain) and the crew rush into the room with panic on their faces.

However, Yaia is nowhere to be found.

Lyria: Yaia?

Vyrn: Hey... this is some kind of joke right?

They stand in the empty room, unable to speak in the face of the grim reality before them.

Graya and Ludine dote on Yaia, allowing her to do whatever her heart desires. In return, Yaia tries to clean the house to show her appreciation. The elderly couple refuses her help, insisting that she should focus on enjoying herself. Determined to express her gratitude, Yaia asks Currentia, a maid, for advice.

A few days have passed since Yaia was put in Graya and Ludine's care.

Since then, she has been enjoying her newfound carefree lifestyle.

Yaia: Guess what, Charley Horse? Today, Ludine read lots and lots of fun books to me!

Yaia: And Graya promised to play something called a "board game" with me tomorrow! Ehehe...

Yaia lies sprawled out on her bed, sharing her day with Charley Horse.

However, the bright smile on her face is soon replaced with an expression of uncertainty.

Yaia: Hey, Charley Horse. I kinda feel bad that I'm not doing anything to repay Graya and Ludine.

Yaia: They've been super nice to me every day.

Yaia: I tried to help them with the chores, but they told me no...

Yaia: So I'm not sure what would make them happy...

Unconsciously pulling Charley Horse closer, Yaia mulls over the events of the past few days.

Yaia: Laundry, laundry! Wash it 'til it's white and clean!

Ludine: Oh my, what are you doing here?

Yaia: Hi, Ludine! I'm doing the laundry!

Yaia: Charley Horse was dirty anyway, so I thought I'd give everything a good wash!

Ludine: Goodness, how kind of you to help out. But you really needn't bother with such things.

Ludine: Our maids will take care of all the housework.

Yaia: But I'm the one who got him all dirty...

Ludine: Don't fret, my dear. It's natural for children to make messes here and there.

Ludine: And besides, if you did all the laundry, then what would the maids have left? Let's not take away their duties.

Yaia: Hmm, I guess...

Ludine: Your only job at the moment is to play to your heart's content.

Yaia: But I don't really know what to do...

Ludine: I see. In that case, shall we go on a walk together?

Yaia: Okay!

Yaia: Dusting, dusting! Feather duster to the rescue!

Yaia: Cleaning, cleaning! Gonna make everything squeaky clean!

Graya: Oh my, are you cleaning the house?

Yaia: Yup! Don't you think it feels nice when everything's all spick-and-span?

Yaia: That's why I'm tidying up!

Graya: Yaia, remember how we said you don't have to push yourself?

Graya: There's no need to worry about the chores. Go on and have fun.

Yaia: Umm... Does that mean cleaning's bad?

Graya: No, not at all. But you might injure yourself, and we can't have that now, can we? That's why it's best to let the adults handle it.

Graya: Instead of cleaning, I have a much better idea. I say we go enjoy some snacks together.

Graya: One of the maids just baked some cookies for us.

Graya: They're best right out of the oven. Would you like to join me?

Yaia: Yay, cookies!

Graya: That's right. Come with me to the dining room.

Yaia: Okay!

Yaia: Argh... Charley Horse... You gotta help me think of something...

Yaia: How should I thank Graya and Ludine? Hmm...

Suddenly, a loud knock on the door interrupts Yaia's flow of thoughts, and she jumps up from her bed.

Yaia: A-ah! C-come in...

???: Excuse me.

Yaia: Umm... Who are you?

Currentia: It's nice to meet you, Yaia. My name is Currentia. I'm one of the maids.

Currentia: I hope we can be friends.

Yaia: Oh, a maid! Hi, I'm Yaia! It's nice to meet you too.

Currentia: Hehe, you're quite good at introducing yourself, aren't you?

Yaia: Ehehe.

Currentia: Hmm, I can't help but notice that you seem a bit down. Is something bothering you?

Currentia: You can tell me, if you'd like.

Yaia: Umm, will you promise to keep it a secret from Graya and Ludine?

Currentia: Of course, I promise.

Yaia: I really wanna do something nice for them because they're always nice to me.

Yaia: But I don't know what would make them happy.

Currentia: You want to show your appreciation to them?

Yaia: Yeah! Dad told me that I should always thank people!

Yaia: That's why I wanna do something for Graya and Ludine!

Currentia: I see. Well, isn't that sweet of you?

Currentia: Become... such... great...

Yaia: Hmm, I wonder what I should do...

Currentia: Let's see. Do you have any specialties?

Yaia: Oh, I know! I'm good at cooking!

Yaia: Dad and Big Brother always tell me that my food is really tasty!

Currentia: In that case, what about cooking for them?

Yaia: Are you sure that's okay? They already told me that I shouldn't clean or do laundry...

Currentia: It'll be just fine. I promise.

Yaia: Yay, thank you! I can't wait to tell Graya and Ludine!

Currentia: Of course. But it's getting late now, so let's get you all tucked into bed.

Yaia: But I'm not sleepy yet...

Currentia: Little ones shouldn't stay up late. The ghosts might come out and get you.

Yaia: G-g-ghosts? But what should I do if I can't sleep?

Currentia: That won't do. Okay, how about this—I'll sing you a lullaby, and then you go to sleep.

Currentia carefully tucks Yaia underneath the soft blankets of her bed.

Yaia: Okaaay...

Currentia: Hehe, good girl.

Currentia: Never... chance... like this...

Yaia: Did you say something, Currentia?

Currentia: No, it's nothing.

After giving the little girl a reassuring pat, the maid begins to hum a soft lullaby.

Currentia: La, la, la...

Yaia: Yawn...

Yaia: (This lullaby makes me feel... really warm... and safe...)

Yaia: (I feel like... I've heard it somewhere before...)

Yaia: Zzz...

Currentia: Good night, Yaia.

The next day, Yaia heads to the kitchen to show her appreciation to Graya and Ludine.

Yaia: Ludine, are you here?

Ludine: Why hello there, Yaia. What's the matter?

Yaia: I was thinking I could help with making dinner!

Ludine: Huh? Why all of a sudden?

Yaia: You and Graya have done lots of nice things for me, so I wanna do something nice in return!

Yaia: There aren't a lot of things I'm good at...

Yaia: But I'm good at cooking! So I wanna try to make something tasty for us tonight!

Ludine: Oh, sweetheart. You don't have to worry about all that.

Ludine: We're simply doing what's expected of us.

Yaia: Uh-uh! It's important to show appreciation for people you care about!

Yaia: And I like cooking.

Yaia: Ludine, you told me it's okay to be a little selfish, right?

Ludine: I see... Then why don't we cook together tonight?

Ludine: But oh my, "appreciation" is such a big word. Where did you learn it?

Yaia: Dad taught me!

Yaia: He always told me to be nice, don't fight, and appreciate my friends!

Ludine: I see... What a good father you have.

Yaia: Yeah!

Basking in Ludine's approval, Yaia grins from ear to ear.

A few hours later...

The dinner table is filled with an assortment of food carefully cooked up by Yaia and Ludine.

Together with Graya, they sit down and happily dig into the delicious feast.

Graya: You have quite the talent for cooking, Yaia.

Yaia: Ehehe, thank you!

Feeling proud of herself, the little girl beams at the elderly couple.

Graya & Ludine: ...

As Graya and Ludine look at the happy child, their eyes convey a sense of remorse.

Entrusted Wishes: Scene 2

While playing, Yaia stumbles across a portrait of Graya and Ludine's daughter. Yaia notices her uncanny resemblance to the painting. Later that evening, Currentia sneaks into Yaia's room and attempts to free the little girl from the house. They manage to make their way to the front door but are caught by Graya and Ludine.

Vyrn: Argh, geez! How'd she just up and vanish like that?

Lyria: Yaia! If you can hear us, please say something!

(Captain) and company desperately search for Yaia.

But despite their best efforts, Yaia is nowhere to be found.

Panic begins to set in as they attempt to grapple with Yaia's sudden disappearance.

Pressing on with the search, the crew stumbles across a mysterious painting.

Lyria: Huh? Wait a second. Is this a painting of... Yaia?

Vyrn: Hmm, but this girl doesn't look like a Draph to me.

Lyria: Oh, you're right. But still, the similarities are almost uncanny.

Vyrn: It's definitely giving me the creeps. I feel like we're looking at Yaia's twin sister.

Lyria: Yeah...

Lyria: This might sound crazy, but... what if the ghosts mistook Yaia as their own child?

Vyrn: I could see it happening... Either way, I have a feeling this painting might be a clue.

With their newfound lead, (Captain) and the crew begin to carefully inspect every inch of the room.

Vyrn: Hey, I think I found something. Isn't this a diary? Looks like it's really been through the wringer though.

Vyrn hands the diary to (Captain).

Lyria: Do you think it's okay to read this?

1. There might be a hint inside.

Choose: There might be a hint inside.

Lyria: You're right. Finding Yaia is our top priority.

Vyrn: Yeah...

(Captain) carefully opens the diary and begins to examine its contents.

Yaia: Ehehe, adventure time!

Yaia: Isn't this such a big place, Charley Horse?

While playing with her stuffed animal, Yaia decides to explore the house.

She comes across a room with its door ajar.

Yaia: Why is this the only room that's open? Weird.

Yaia: I guess the maid forgot to close it.

Yaia: Hehe, should we take a little peek?
