Alchemist Astray - Chapter 5: The Bargain with Fate - Episode 1

When the crew sees the location is too heavily guarded to attempt an up-front attack, Deliford tries to infiltrate the facility by pretending to bring Cagliostro in as his hostage. He succeeds brilliantly.

With Deliford guiding the way, the group soon reaches the facility holding Clarisse's parents.
They find, however, that the area is saturated with soldiers and alchemists.
Vyrn: Man, this place is oozing with goons.
Deliford: Indeed. It seems they've increased security as of late.
Vyrn: How do we get Clarisse's parents out?
Vyrn: I don't think busting in with swords blazing is gonna work here.
Deliford: Leave it to me. I have a plan.
With Cagliostro slung over his shoulder, Deliford walks straight to the front entrance.
He gives no sign of trying to hide his presence.
Alchemist: ...!
Imperial Soldier: Wh-what in the! Deliford?
Deliford: Where is Paracelsus?
Imperial Soldier: I don't answer to traitors!
Deliford: Traitor? What are you talking about? I've done nothing of the sort!
Deliford: Here's the proof: I've brought the founder as prisoner.
Cagliostro: ...
With great satisfaction, Deliford boasts of the limp body slung over his shoulder.
Alchemist: What! H-how did you...
Deliford: Sedatives in her food. Child's play.
Deliford: Do you believe me now? I've not betrayed the empire at all!
Deliford: Everything you've seen has merely been an act to gain the enemies' trust!
Deliford: All done for the sake of greater gold and renown!
Imperial Soldier: If that's true, then you should have just followed Zechs's orders from the start!
Deliford: And give up the chance to take all the glory for myself? I think not.
Alchemist: Ahh, so you wanted to steal Zechs's thunder? I see.
Deliford: You're finally catching on. I'll be the one giving the orders soon enough.
Deliford: I alone captured the founder. Single-handedly. Paracelsus is sure to recognize my abilities.
Alchemist: Hrmm, yes—it all makes sense now. After all, you did say your family needed the money.
Deliford: Indeed.
Alchemist: Sacrificing your friends for your own selfish ends.
Alchemist: Ohh-ho. I like the way you think. Very well, I'll believe you.
Alchemist: Unfortunately, however, Lord Paracelsus isn't here at the moment.
Deliford: Oh? Well, that's a bit of a problem.
Deliford: We haven't much time before the founder's sedatives wear off. And when that happens...
Alchemist: Then we'll restrain her within the facility. Not even the founder can escape from here.
Alchemist: This is no ordinary building. It's been made such that no more than a set amount of alchemy can be used inside.
Deliford: Excellent. I'd appreciate it if you showed me inside immediately then. It's not going to be pretty if she wakes up out here.
Alchemist: Understood. The soldier here shall show you inside.
Imperial Soldier: Tsk.
Alchemist: You know where the confinement rooms are, yes?
Imperial Soldier: Yes...
Alchemist: Very good. Off you go then. I shall report this to Lord Paracelsus myself.
The alchemist strolls off with a skip in his step.
Imperial Soldier: Tsk. This way, Deliford.
The soldier opens the door and lets Deliford and his captive in.
Imperial Soldier: Follow me.
Imperial Soldier: Gah!
Deliford knocks the soldier unconscious with a free hand.
Deliford: All right. We're in.
Cagliostro: Mm, good job.
Cagliostro ends her feigned slumber as she's let down from Deliford's arm.
Cagliostro: Just to make things clear: none of what you said back there was true... right?
Deliford: Of course! Everything you've seen has merely been an act to gain the enemies' trust!
Cagliostro: Humph. I'll believe you... for now.
Deliford: All right, let's search for Clarisse's parents.
Cagliostro: Say... Mister Deliford?
Cagliostro: I just wanted to tell you a teensy-tiny thing, if that's okay?
Deliford: Hm? What is it?
Cagliostro: If you ever betray (Captain) and the crew, I'll kill you myself! Hehe!
Deliford: D-duly noted.
