Granblue Shodown - Opening

A courageous swordsman once put a stop to a grave calamity on the faraway island of Shimabara. But now that darkness returns once more—a scion of evil preparing to lay siege to the skies.

In the far east lies a small island known as Shimabara.
Few know of its existence, but an incident that once threatened the entire skies transpired here.
Thanks to the actions of a righteous swordsman, however, the crisis was snuffed out in secret and confined to the dark, silent annals of history...
Or so it appeared.
Those evil embers smolder once more, and unfavorable winds threaten to engulf the skies in a phantasmic inferno.
Amakusa: Heh heh heh... I have reawakened! And this time... This time! The world shall know utter obliteration!
Amakusa: Lord Ambrosia! You have my thanks for reviving me. Let our first order of business be to exact vengeance on the one who sent me to that purgatory in the first place!
Amakusa: Heh heh heh heh... Bwahahahahaha!
The revival of this embodiment of evil ushers in disaster across the world.
The once clear skies become clouded with a poisonous miasma. Nature itself shrivels and dies. People and monsters alike are driven to madness.
The reign of chaos this dark scion desires is nearing reality... The shodown for the fate of the world is about to begin.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 1

(Captain) and crew travel to a distant island to investigate the strange miasma blanketing the skies. Once there they encounter a high-spirited swordsman by the name of Haohmaru who seems to know a thing or two about the crisis.

The poisonous miasma that suddenly appeared over Shimabara Isle spreads across the sky, eventually reaching even this distant island.
Its presence invites chaos, changing the air, natural surroundings, and even the personalities of those who live here.
(Captain)'s crew has been enlisted by Sierokarte to remedy the situation and hurries to a nearby village where a disturbance has been reported.
Vyrn: Hey, Lyria. Does the air feel weird to you, or is it just me?
Lyria: Ngh... It's not just you. The air smells strange. I'm doing my best not to breathe it.
Lyria: We haven't seen anyone since leaving the ship either. Where did everybody go?
As Lyria says this, the nearby underbrush rustles violently.
Vyrn: Ack! Is there a villager in there?
Lyria: It might be a monster, (Captain)! Be careful!
What emerges from the underbrush isn't a monster, but a burly, rough-hewn man brandishing a blade as long as he is tall.
Haohmaru: The hell? I sensed some powerful spirits out here. Not a bunch of kids.
Haohmaru: Lemme give you pipsqueaks some advice. This is no place for sightseeing. Get outta here.
Vyrn: Who're you callin' a pipsqueak? Underestimate (Captain) and you're gonna get hurt!
Vyrn: Listen up! (Captain)'s the captain of a fearsome crew of skyfarers!
Haohmaru: (Captain)? Never heard that name before.
Vyrn: Oh yeah? What's your name then?
Haohmaru: Name's Haohmaru. I'm a traveling warrior, testing both myself and others in the way of the sword. And if I find someone tough... I don't let 'em get away.
Haohmaru: Never seen a talking lizard before though. Must be all the poison making things crazy.
Vyrn: Hey! I ain't no lizard! I'm Vyrn! And don't you forg—
Haohmaru swiftly unsheathes his sword, produces a large jug of sake, and takes a swig.
Holding his blade vertically in front of him, he lets loose a powerful spray of liquor upon the surface of the blade as if to purify it.
Vyrn: Well that was unexpected!
Lyria: Are there monsters nearby?
Haohmaru: Heh, I wish. Cutting monsters down doesn't weigh on my conscience.
Haohmaru's eyes dart to his periphery.
Haohmaru: Wow. Not bad. You've figured out their true identity too, I take it?
(Captain) has already readied a weapon and is carefully eyeing the surrounding area.
What Haohmaru sensed from (Captain) earlier was the kind of finely honed spirit that only comes from struggle and survival.
Haohmaru: Bwahaha! Props to you, kid! You're clearly crazy powerful. For a pipsqueak, anyway.
Haohmaru: Sorry to underestimate you earlier. Let's put these foes of ours on the chopping block!
Haohmaru acts true to his word, cleaving diagonally through the massive trunk of a nearby tree.
Mad Villager 1: Graaaaah...
Haohmaru: Deyah!
Haohmaru: Doryah!
Haohmaru: Enjoy the afterlife!
With a flurry of slashes, Haohmaru cuts through the nearby trees with ruthless efficiency. When the dust settles, their foes stand in front of them.
Lying in wait deep within the forest is a group of villagers. They seem to be deranged.
Lyria: Oh no... Wait, Haohmaru!
Lyria: Those are just a bunch of people from the village!
Lyria leaps in front of Haohmaru to prevent him from attacking.
The villagers she's trying to protect, however, show no such restraint.
Mad Villager 2: Gwoorgh... Join us... Serve Lord Ambrosia...
Mad Villager 3: Refuse... and you will be offered up as a sacrifice...
Lyria: No!
Vyrn: Watch out, Lyria!
Haohmaru: Well? Get it now? They're stuck in hell whether they live or die. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Haohmaru: Best we can do... is make it painless for 'em.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 1: Scene 2

The evil Amakusa possesses the body of a dying villager to taunt Haohmaru, who vows to defeat him. As an act of penance, he digs graves for the other miasma-infected villagers.

Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Vyrn: Hey, did anyone else see that guy just now?
Lyria: I did! Dressed all in black! You saw it too... Right, Haohmaru?
Haohmaru doesn't answer. He's holding one of the still-breathing villagers in his arms in order to hear their last words.
Haohmaru: Come on now. If you've got anything you want to say, now's your chan—
The villager's expression twists.
Amakusa: Heh heh heh... Your strength is impressive as always, Haohmaru.
Amakusa: I knew I'd need that strength... I await your arrival at Shimabara. We shall settle things there...
The possessed villager leaves these words behind, then breathes his last.
Haohmaru says nothing, offering a silent prayer to Amakusa's victims.
Lyria: Um... Haohmaru? What just happened?
Haohmaru: I thought I was prepared, but... I knew it. Amakusa's behind this.
Lyria: Amakusa? Is he the one who's making all the villagers crazy?
Haohmaru: That's right. Shiro Tokisada Amakusa. I put him away myself a long time ago.
Haohmaru: I don't know how he did it, but it looks like he's managed to claw his way back out of the underworld.
Haohmaru stands up and begins to silently dig a hole.
It doesn't take long for the crew to realize what's going on. He's digging a grave for the villagers. (Captain) and the others silently decide to help.
Haohmaru's hardened expression tells the crew everything they need to know about the destiny he labors under. They continue working in silence.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 2

After performing a burial ritual for the villagers, Haohmaru explains more about Amakusa's past. The crew notices that Haohmaru almost seems to be looking forward to the possibility of fighting him.

After finishing the burial ceremony for the villagers, Haohmaru turns back to look at the crew.
A quiet anger lingers on his face, smoldering gently.
Lyria: Um, Haohmaru? What kind of person is Amakusa?
Lyria: You said he was responsible for all the strange things that have been happening. He might have something to do with the request we received.
Haohmaru: An evil pretty boy who plunged into the abyss. A fallen scion of a dark god... He's been called lots of things over the years.
Haohmaru: Basically... he's undying, causes disasters everywhere, and is trying to take over the world.
Vyrn: Did you say undying? There are people like that out there?
Haohmaru: He died as a human a long time ago, but he borrowed the power of a dark god or something to resurrect his soul.
Haohmaru: No matter how many times I cut him down, he keeps coming back. Guy just doesn't know when to give up.
Haohmaru's expression contorts painfully into something that could almost be confused for a smile.
Vyrn: You're enjoying this, aren't you, Bushy Bushido?
Haohmaru: Yeah. I like crossing swords with tough opponents. And Amakusa's only gotten tougher since the last time I killed him.
Lyria: Oh my gosh! You like sword fighting with others?
Vyrn: Now that you mention it... You didn't even blink when those villagers attacked us earlier.
Haohmaru: Ha ha ha... Got me there. If I'm gonna be cutting down demons, I might just have to become a little demon-like myself to keep up.
Haohmaru: Where would I be if I didn't?
The crew can't help but be taken aback by Haohmaru's strangely positive attitude.
He's helpful and good-natured, but something about him feels unsettlingly otherworldly to the crew.
Haohmaru: Hm? The hell's that?
Haohmaru stops laughing. Insane voices reverberate through the air.
The crew looks ahead.
Vyrn: Whoa! There's smoke coming from over there!
Lyria: Oh no! Something's burning!
Haohmaru: I don't like the look of this. My boat's anchored over there.
Haohmaru: If I had to guess, those crazed villagers probably set it on fire.
Haohmaru scratches his head in bemusement before heading after (Captain) and the others.
Haohmaru: From the way you guys were talking earlier, it sounds like we're both after the same thing.
Haohmaru: If we're in the same boat, I don't suppose you'd mind letting me board yours? I mean... mine's on fire.
With a big, beaming smile that feels a world removed from the stoic swordsman the crew met earlier, Haohmaru pleads with (Captain) to let him on the ship.
(Captain) sees no reason to deny the request. To Shimabara Isle!

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 2: Scene 2

(Captain) and Haohmaru arrive on Shimabara, the island where Amakusa is waiting for them. Haohmaru suddenly comes under attack by his longtime foe and fellow swordsman Genjuro Kibagami.

After a long journey, (Captain), Haohmaru, and the rest of the crew arrive on Shimabara Isle.
Oppressive, stifling air assaults them as soon as they step foot on the island.
They have no choice but to push forward, the miasma growing thicker as they draw closer to the island's center.
Haohmaru is leading the way when he suddenly stops.
Haohmaru: ...
Lyria: Is something wrong, Haohmaru?
Vyrn: More villagers?
Haohmaru: No. I've been sensing an intense bloodlust ever since we got here.
Haohmaru: And to top it off... Heh heh. I'd know this scent anywhere. Brings back memories.
Lyria: The smell is... reminding you of something?
Genjuro: Haohmaru... I'll kill you!
Haohmaru: Try me!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! Another swordsman?
Vyrn: You okay, Bushy Bushido?
Haohmaru: Heh heh... You never change, Genjuro! What are you doing here?
Genjuro: Stupid question. I'm here to kill you, Haohmaru!
Both fighters close in, concentrating their spirit and looking for the perfect range to go in for the kill.
Close enough. Haohmaru and Genjuro rush at each other, their swords colliding with earth-shattering force.
Genjuro: Doryaah!
Haohmaru: Oryaaah!
Swords clash. Sparks dance. The ringing of blades reverberates through the crew's eardrums.
Both Genjuro and Haohmaru are unmistakably fighting with everything on the line, but they also seem to be enjoying themselves.
(Captain) simply watches the duel in stunned silence, breath held in anticipation.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 3

Haohmaru suddenly yields in the middle of his fight with Genjuro, suggesting that they deal with Amakusa first. Despite Genjuro's initial protest, an attack from a group of bandits prompts him to work alongside the crew.

The clash of samurai spirits continues. A single mistimed breath is all that stands between life and death.
In the midst of this struggle, Haohmaru does the unthinkable.
With a smirk and a flourish, he points the blade of his beloved sword Fugudoku away from Genjuro and toward the ground instead.
There can be no other interpretation. Haohmaru no longer wants to fight.
Genjuro: Are you mad? You make a mockery of the fight!
Haohmaru: Ha ha ha... Not quite. I just know when to cut unnecessary fights short.
Genjuro: Unnecessary?
Haohmaru: You're one tough customer, Genjuro. But there's a certain annoying someone we need to take care of first.
Genjuro understands as well as anyone that Haohmaru is referring to Amakusa. He can't help but feel disgusted nonetheless.
Genjuro: This sickens me.
Haohmaru: Why? We'll really be able to cut loose once we take out Amakusa!
Genjuro shakes his head.
Genjuro: Are you saying you'd enjoy fighting Amakusa more than me?
Genjuro: Haohmaru... I'll kill you!
Genjuro strikes at the careless Haohmaru, leaving no room for questions.
Haohmaru hastily goes into a defensive stance.
Haohmaru: Hey, hold on!
(Captain)'s weapon deflects Genjuro's blade at the last possible moment.
Genjuro: Stupid kid... I'll kill you!
Haohmaru: Deyaaah!
Genjuro: Rgh... How dare you!
Haohmaru: You're rushing things, Genjuro. If it's a fight you want, fine... but can't it wait?
Haohmaru: I mean... we've got a lot of distractions to deal with right now, don't you think?
Something seems to click for Genjuro. He cracks a smile.
Genjuro: Humph. I see how it is. I suppose I can save killing you for after we dispatch these fools over... here!
Genjuro: Deyaah!
Genjuro slices through the nearby brush, revealing a group of bandits lying in wait.
Mad Bandits: Aahh... We shall bring you under the thrall of Lord Ambrosia...
Haohmaru: Genjuro, you idiot! Don't jump the gun!
Genjuro: Waste any more time, and I'll separate that brainless head of yours from your body myself!
Mad Bandit: Aahh...
Haohmaru: Heh, I'd like to see you try! And I never asked you to help!
Genjuro: Enough nonsense... I'll kill you!
Vyrn: Are they fighting each other... or helping each other? I can't tell!
Lyria: We should probably hurry up and lend a hand, (Captain)!
The crew members ready their weapons and dive into the fray.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 3: Scene 2

The crew mops up the bandits. Genjuro claims to have lost interest in fighting Haohmaru and leaves, causing much confusion to Lyria and Vyrn.

Mad Bandits: Aahh...
Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Vyrn: Guys! Guys, guys, guys! It's that weirdo again!
Lyria: He's dressed in all black, Haohmaru!
Haohmaru and Genjuro are too busy glaring at each other to notice.
Genjuro: Tch... Whatever interest I had in fighting you is dead.
Genjuro sheathes his blade and leaves, rage lingering on his lips.
Lyria and Vyrn can't help but notice the strange way Haohmaru seems to be looking at Genjuro as he leaves.
Haohmaru: Hm? Is there something on my face?
Lyria: No. It's just... How do I put this? There's something strange between you two.
Vyrn: Yeah, like... Wasn't that guy trying to kill you just a second ago?
Haohmaru stares off into the distance, slowly stroking his chin in thought.
Haohmaru: I've got a score to settle with him.
Vyrn: Hmm... That kind of thing, huh? There sure are a lot of guys like you out there. All motivated by destiny and stuff.
Lyria: Hee hee... Things are rough all over, aren't they, Haohmaru?
Haohmaru: Spare me the chit-chat. Amakusa's close. Let's go!
The crew pushes forward, miasma growing thicker by the minute. The shodown with Amakusa draws near.

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 4

(Captain) and crew reach the heart of the miasma and confront Amakusa, who praises (Captain) and Haohmaru for their sublime fighting spirits. Haohmaru refuses Amakusa's request to join him in destroying the world, and the final battle begins.

(Captain) and company finally arrive at the origin of the miasma.
Waiting for them is the unmistakable source of countless evil deeds, Shiro Tokisada Amakusa.
Amakusa: Heh heh heh... It has been too long, Haohmaru. I knew you were the right choice for this.
Amakusa: Oh? Who are those children behind you? I sense such powerful spirits from them... How considerate of you to offer them to me.
Amakusa: Join me in ushering this world into oblivion. What better way is there to make use of such powerful spirits than to work alongside Lord Ambrosia?
Amakusa: Do so, and I will deign to forgive your trespasses against me. Now come. Let chaos reign!
Haohmaru: That's enough yammering out of you, Amakusa. We're not teaming up with you!
Amakusa: Humph. What utter foolishness. In that case... Lord Ambrosia will happily accept your lives as tribute!
Amakusa: Allow me to teach you the true meaning of fear!

Granblue Shodown - The Path of a Ravager - Episode 4: Scene 2

Amakusa unleashes his true power, but a surprise appearance from Genjuro saves the day. With the evil mastermind defeated, the two swordsmen finally have time to fight each other without reservations.

Amakusa is a fierce foe indeed, but even he cannot stand up to the onslaught from Haohmaru and (Captain).
Amakusa: Rgh... Impossible... How can this... be...
Amakusa: God of darkness... I beseech you... offer me your blessing once more!
The crew believes Amakusa defeated, but he once again calls upon the power of his dark lord to unleash true evil.
He concentrates the evil energies within him, unleashing a final enraged onslaught on the crew.
Amakusa: Hyooorgh! May the fires of hell consume you!
Haohmaru: Ngh... This isn't looking good.
Amakusa strikes at Haohmaru, who is defenseless to stop him.
(Captain) senses the threat and attempts to leap to Haohmaru's defense, but he's too far away.
A crimson flash suddenly bursts into the chamber.
Genjuro: You're struggling against a dead man? How pathetic can you be, Haohmaru?
Haohmaru: Genjuro... Why are you here?
Genjuro: I'm the one who's going to kill you. I refuse to let Amakusa get to you first!
Haohmaru: Ha ha ha... I guess it wouldn't be right for me to die after all the trouble you went through to save me.
Genjuro: Don't mistake my intentions. Once I finish Amakusa, you're next!
Haohmaru returns to his feet, and firmly grips his trusty blade, Fugudoku.
While far from rehearsed, Haohmaru nonetheless matches Genjuro's heroic actions, the two samurai breathing as one.
Genjuro: Doryaaah!
Haohmaru: Oryaaaah!
Their conflicting spirits overlap, merge, twist and change, becoming a singular, harmonious whole that begins to swallow Amakusa.
At that very instant, two brilliant flashes erupt from their blades, inescapably etching the mark of judgment upon Amakusa's body and soul.
Amakusa: Gwaaaargh...
Amakusa: How could I allow this to happen again... Haohmaru! Genjuro! (Captain)! How dare youuu!
Amakusa: But never forget. I will return... again and again... without fail...
Amakusa: To welcome you into the benediction of death! To usher the world into its final hours!
Haohmaru: Heh. Listen to him. Come back as many times as you want! We'll just kill you again!
Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Kuroko: The victors are... Haohmaru! Genjuro! And (Captain)!
Vyrn: I didn't see nothin'...
Lyria: Yeah... Me neither.
Genjuro: Hey! Idiot! Still got some fight left in you?
Haohmaru: Of course.
Genjuro: Heh heh... No one left to interrupt. We can do whatever we want now.
Haohmaru and Genjuro are battered and bruised from the battle with Amakusa. But their bloodlust burns unabated.
Lyria can't help but worry about the two of them.
Lyria: Please don't fight. You need medical attention...
(Captain) pats Lyria on the head.
To understand the spirit of a samurai requires becoming a samurai yourself, (Captain) explains. Those outside their brutal world must not interfere.
When Lyria hears this, the words she had for Haohmaru and Genjuro die in her throat.
Kuroko: Fair and square!
Genjuro: Haohmaru... It's time to die!
Haohmaru: We'll see about that!
The clash of these two master swordsmen creates shockwaves that shake the chamber's foundations.
They reverberate ever outward, purifying the miasma scouring the world, returning the skies to their original pure azure.
It is a sound not unlike a victory cry. A paean to those who brought this long, hard-fought struggle to an end. May it offer courage to all who hear it.

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 1

(Captain)'s crew travels to a distant island to investigate the strange miasma blanketing the skies. Once there Lyria hits it off with Nakoruru, the mysterious shrine maiden of Kamuikotan village.

The poisonous miasma that suddenly appeared over Shimabara Isle spreads across the sky, eventually reaching even this distant island.
Its presence invites chaos: changing the air, natural surroundings, and even the personalities of those who live here.
(Captain)'s crew has been enlisted by Sierokarte to remedy the situation, and hurries to a nearby village where a disturbance has been reported.
Vyrn: Hey, Lyria. Does the air feel weird to you, or is it just me?
Lyria: Sob.... You're right. I'm scared, Vyrn. I can hear nature shrieking...
Vyrn: Whoa, really? I can't hear a thing!
Lyria: But I can! So much pain... I shudder just listening to it.
An unexpected visitor responds to Lyria's lament.
Nakoruru: How surprising. You can hear the voice of Mother Nature too?
A young girl is standing stock still nearby, as if one with the natural world.
Lyria: Um... Who might you be?
Nakoruru: My name is Nakoruru, and I come from a place called Kamuikotan. I work as a shrine maiden to protect Mother Nature.
Lyria: Wow... A real shrine maiden...
Nakoruru: Er... Aren't you a shrine maiden too? How else can you hear the voices?
Lyria: I'm not, actually. I can sense primal beasts though. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Nakoruru: Primal... beasts?
Lyria and Nakoruru realize they both have mysterious powers that allow them to communicate with something grander than themselves.
Their shared ability to hear the cries of nature seems to be of particularly profound significance.
Suddenly Nakoruru's smile vanishes.
Nakoruru: It's not safe here. You must flee!
Lyria: Huh?
Monster: Groooar!
A massive bear comes roaring out of a nearby thicket.
But something is clearly wrong. This is no ordinary bear.
Vyrn: What's this bear all up in arms about? We didn't even do anything!
Lyria: You don't suppose he's just hungry...
Nakoruru: No. This is Amakusa's doing!
Lyria: Huh? Amakusa?
Vyrn: Hey, Little Miss Nature! What the heck's an Amakusa?
Nakoruru: I'll explain later. For now... you must defend yourselves.
Monster: Groooar!

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 1: Scene 2

Nakoruru expresses concern after a mad bear attacks the crew. She explains that the evil Amakusa is responsible, and vows to defeat him and return order to the natural world.

Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Vyrn: Hey, did anyone else see that guy just now?
Lyria: I saw it too! He was dressed all in black! What about you, Nakoruru?
Lyria: Huh? Nakoruru?
Nakoruru is too busy checking on the condition of the collapsed bear to answer.
Nakoruru: It's just like the last time this happened... They're being controlled by a wenkamui.
Vyrn: Wenka-what now?
Nakoruru: An evil god. That bear was possessed by one and driven to madness.
Nakoruru: This isn't normal. Mother Nature is being twisted by that evil poison in the air.
Lyria: Is this all because of that Amakusa person you mentioned earlier?
Nakoruru: Yes. I can't say for certain, but there are murmurs... It appears he's signed a pact with an evil kamui to reincarnate himself in this world once more.
Nakoruru: Amakusa is the root of this. He must be defeated if I am to protect Mother Nature.
Nakoruru is fully aware of the grave destiny she shoulders.
She may be small, but her stout-hearted dedication to the cause allows her to rise to any challenge.
(Captain) and the others cannot help but be impressed by her strength and tranquil spirit. She will make a worthy ally in the struggle to come.

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 2

Nakoruru joins the crew on her journey to defeat Amakusa, and requests the Grandcypher land on a nearby island. The crew hears a girl screaming for help nearby, and it turns out to be none other than Nakoruru's sister Rimururu.

The crew encounters the mysterious Nakoruru.
With a shared goal to quell the chaos engulfing the skies, the crew decides to bring Nakoruru aboard the Grandcypher.
Nakoruru refuses to enter her room, preferring instead to watch the ever-changing scenery from the deck of the ship.
Lyria: Huh? You're still out here, Nakoruru?
Vyrn: The wind's starting to pick up, so you might want to head inside.
Nakoruru: No. I'm fine.
Vyrn: Aw, c'mon! I get that you're looking for something, but a shrine maiden needs her beauty sleep!
Nakoruru: All right... Just a little longer.
Lyria: Hm... Are you just watching the passing islands?
Nakoruru: I sense... something that concerns me.
Lyria: Is that part of your power as a shrine maiden too?
Nakoruru: Yes. I sense another shrine maiden, but one with a bond far deeper than the others...
Lyria: Another shrine maiden? A... far deeper bond?
Vyrn: Hrm... Little Miss Nature here sure likes speaking in riddles.
Nakoruru seems to have found something.
Nakoruru: (Captain)! That island! Can we stop there for a moment?
The crew is slightly taken aback by the sudden request, but ultimately decides to give Nakoruru the benefit of the doubt.
After docking the ship, (Captain) and company head to a nearby village.
What they find is a ghost town. As they wander the empty streets, some crew members report the sinking suspicion that someone's watching them.
A creeping sense of dread envelops the crew.
Suddenly a voice rings out.
Rimururu: Nooo! Don't come any closer!
Vyrn: What the? You a villager?
Nakoruru seems to already know who it is.
Nakoruru: Oh, I knew it... She came here on her own.
Lyria: Who is it?
Lyria: Oh! Wait, Nakoruru!
Within a secluded area far from the main path, an innocent girl is surrounded by brutish ruffians.
Even worse, they've all lost their minds from the miasma's influence.
Mad Bandit: Oogh...
Nakoruru: Rimururu! You have to get out of there!
The young girl is on the verge of tears, but brightens up as soon as she hears Nakoruru's voice.
Rimururu: Oh! Hey, Sis! I'm here to save you!
Nakoruru: What are you talking about? I came here to save you.
Rimururu: Hee hee... Sorry. I'm feeling something really bad from these guys, Sis! It's gotta be Amakusa!
Nakoruru: Yes, I know. Are you willing to help fight them, Rimururu?
Rimururu: I sure am! Let me lend you a hand, Sis!

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 2: Scene 2

Rimururu grew concerned about her sister and decided to chase after her, but Nakoruru's having none of it. Vyrn and Lyria convince Nakoruru to bring Rimururu with them on their journey.

Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Vyrn: Guys! It's that weirdo again!
Lyria: I saw him too! Dressed all in black! You saw him this time, right, Nakoruru?
Nakoruru doesn't so much as look away. She's engaged in a serious conversation with Rimururu.
Nakoruru: Why did you come here, Rimururu? I told you not to follow me, didn't I?
Rimururu: I just... I was worried about you, Sis.
Nakoruru: I told you I can handle myself. That I'd be back as soon as I fulfill my duties as a shrine maiden.
Rimururu: But what if you can't defeat Amakusa?
Nakoruru: Then I'll...
Nakoruru: No, even if that is the case, I would have no choice but to carry out my duties.
Rimururu: Oh no... Sis, does that mean...
Nakoruru: Yes. This, too, is for the sake of Mother Nature.
The two of them seem to have reached the same conclusion. Neither of them seem to have anything more to say.
Unable to stand the silence any longer, Lyria speaks up.
Lyria: Um... Nakoruru?
Nakoruru: I'm sorry. I'm a bit busy with familial matters at the moment...
Lyria: I knew it! Does that mean Rimururu is your...
Nakoruru: Yes. She's my younger sister and a fellow shrine maiden of Kamuikotan.
Rimururu: Heh heh! What do you think? Pretty amazing for my age, right?
Vyrn: It sounds pretty good on paper, but we saw you on the verge of tears just a second ago!
Rimururu: You've got a big mouth for a dumb lizard! Rgh... Now I'm angry. Freeze 'im, Konru!
Vyrn: Brrrr! Why don't you chill, huh? I ain't interested in bein' a Vyrncicle, thank you very much!
Lyria: There, there, you two. Let's talk this over back on the ship, shall we?
Nakoruru: No. You are to return to Kamuikotan at once, Rimururu.
Rimururu: I don't wanna! You can't make me! No way I'm going back there, Sis!
Rimururu: You can try to leave me behind all you want, but I'll just keep chasing after you!
Nakoruru: Sigh... You're such a handful.
Nakoruru's eyes shine cold and fierce.
She grips her treasured blade, Chichiushi. The faintest sound of clinking metal can be heard.
Overwhelmed by her sister's resolve, the wilting Rimururu can barely respond.
Rimururu: Sis...
Lyria: This is just a thought, Nakoruru, but wouldn't it be more dangerous to leave her alone?
Vyrn: Just what I was thinkin', Lyria. If you're that worried about her, you might as well bring her along!
Nakoruru: ...
Lyria: Nakoruru?
The fierce expression on Nakoruru's face suddenly softens.
Nakoruru: Hm... You may be right.
Rimururu: Sis?
Nakoruru: You're no longer a child, Rimururu.
Nakoruru: Will you join me in my duty to defeat Amakusa and defend Mother Nature?
Rimururu: You bet I will! Tee hee hee!

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 3

The crew arrives at Shimabara, source of the miasma, but still has some distance to cover before they reach Amakusa. Nakoruru tells the crew about Amakusa as they press into the heart of the storm.

(Captain) and company finally arrive at Shimabara Isle, the source of the miasma and stronghold of Amakusa.
The crew enters a deep forest, plunging ever deeper into the increasingly thick miasma.
Vyrn: I've been wondering about this for a while, Little Miss Nature, but what's the deal with this Amakusa thing you keep mentioning?
Nakoruru: His full name is Shiro Tokisada Amakusa. He once wrought great destruction upon the world, only to be slain in the end.
Lyria: Oh my gosh! Does that mean he's a ghost?
Rimururu: It's okay, Lyria. My sister's super powerful. Amakusa doesn't stand a ghost of a chance!
Lyria: Wow, really? Thank goodness...
Vyrn: I never would've guessed that just looking at you, Little Miss Nature.
Nakoruru: Everything is for the sake of Mother Nature. As long as Amakusa exists in this world, nature will be drawn ever closer to destruction.
Nakoruru: As shrine maidens of Kamuikotan, we cannot allow that to happen. Even if it comes at the expense of my life.
Vyrn: Let's not get carried away now.
Lyria: Don't worry about it, Nakoruru! You're not alone this time. (Captain) and the rest of us are all behind you.
Nakoruru: Hee hee... You're right. I'll be counting on you, (Captain).
Rimururu: Are you sure about this, Sis? I'm gonna be real ticked off if they get in your way!
Vyrn: Says the girl who couldn't even handle some dumb thugs earlier.
Rimururu: That does it! One freeze-dried lizard coming right up!
Vyrn: No, please! Anything but that!
Though the climactic battle is fast approaching, (Captain)'s crew feels no fear.
Whatever obstacles arise, they'll face them together. Nothing will stand in their way.
Monster: Groaaar!

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 3: Scene 2

As (Captain) and company press deeper into the miasma, the poison grows thicker, and the shrieking voice of nature grows louder. Nakoruru steels herself to do what must be done.

Nakoruru: The poison just keeps getting thicker.
Rimururu: This is horrible... The shrieking of the forest feels like it's going to split my head open.
Nakoruru: Just a little farther... It should thin out once we leave the forest.
Vyrn: Gulp... Amakusa's dead ahead. We're gonna need to give this everything we've got, (Captain)!
Lyria: Please be careful, everyone! Don't do anything reckless, Nakoruru!
Nakoruru: (I'm going to end things for good this time, Shiro Tokisada Amakusa...)
Nakoruru: (And I'm going to make sure you can't come back... Even if it costs me my life.)
Lyria: Um... Is everything all right, Nakoruru? You look like you've got something on your mind.
Nakoruru: Huh? Oh, I'm sorry. Just thinking something over.
Vyrn: Better keep it together! We're just about at the final battle!
Rimururu: (I knew it. You were planning this from the beginning, Sis...)
Only Rimururu understands what Nakoruru's intentions are, but she lacks the courage to speak up.

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 4

The crew reaches the heart of the miasma and confronts Amakusa, who praises (Captain) and Nakoruru for their sublime fighting spirits. Nakoruru refuses Amakusa's request to join him in destroying the world, and the final battle begins.

(Captain) and company finally arrive at the origin of the miasma.
Waiting for them is the unmistakable source of countless evil deeds, Shiro Tokisada Amakusa.
Amakusa: Heh heh heh... It has been too long, Nakoruru.
Nakoruru: I've heard enough of this nonsense, Amakusa! We're going to make sure you never get a chance to harm Mother Nature ever again!
Rimururu: Let's ice this jerk, Konru! Prepare to feel the wrath of nature!
Amakusa: Humph. What utter foolishness. In that case... Lord Ambrosia will happily accept your lives as tribute!
Amakusa: Allow me to teach you the true meaning of fear!

Granblue Shodown - In Nature's Service - Episode 4: Scene 2

To banish Amakusa for good, Nakoruru and Rimururu begin a dangerous prayer that may just cost them their lives. When the dust settles, Amakusa is defeated, both shrine maidens are safe, and the world is returned to peace.

Amakusa is a fierce foe indeed, but even he cannot stand up to the onslaught from Nakoruru and (Captain).
Nakoruru: Ngh... He's strong. This is going to take everything I have...
Amakusa strikes at Nakoruru, who no longer has the strength to defend herself.
(Captain) senses the threat and attempts to leap to Nakoruru's defense but is too far away.
Nakoruru: It appears I'm finished... But I was always prepared for such a possibility!
With the afterlife looming ahead of her, Nakoruru begins to pray.
This isn't a prayer to ward off danger on a long journey. It's a last resort for when all other options have been exhausted.
Whoever utters the prayer becomes one with nature, gaining tremendous power but losing their physical form in the process.
Nakoruru began her journey fully committed to the possibility that she might have to use it in order to defeat Amakusa.
But she's not alone.
Rimururu: Sis, don't!
Nakoruru: Rimururu? What are you trying to do?
Rimururu: Are you planning on leaving me behind again, Sis?
Nakoruru: You understand already, don't you? Once I perform this prayer, I won't be coming ba—
Rimururu: I'm not a kid anymore! You're the one who told me that, weren't you?
Rimururu: But you always... always treat me like a child... Sniff... Sob...
Nakoruru realizes how thoughtless she's been.
Rimururu had always acted spoiled before, but now she was trying to stand on her own as a shrine maiden.
And yet Nakoruru couldn't put her faith in her little sister.
With a gentle smile, she wipes away Rimururu's tears.
Nakoruru: I'm sorry, Rimururu. This time... I'll give you the respect you deserve.
Nakoruru: Help me, Rimururu. Help me defeat Amakusa... together.
Rimururu: I will, Sis! I'm going to do my best to help you!
There's no longer any room for hesitation. With the grand will of mother nature behind them, the two shrine maidens begin their pure-hearted sacrificial prayer.
A fine mist begins to rise across the island, from every tree, every flower, and every rock.
The mist envelops the two of them. It appears first as a faint outline, but soon grows into a mass of spiritual power.
Nakoruru: Hooooh...
Nakoruru: Feel the wrath of nature!
Amakusa: Gwaaaargh...
Amakusa: How could I allow this to happen again... Nakoruru! Rimururu! (Captain)! How dare youuu!
Amakusa: But never forget. I will return... again and again... without fail...
Amakusa: To welcome you into the benediction of death! To usher the world into its final hours!
Lyria: Oh my gosh... Nakoruru! Rimururu! Are you okay?
Vyrn: Hang in there, you two!
Lyria and Vyrn rush over to the two shrine maidens.
Both of them are collapsed on the ground, exhausted after unleashing a tremendous amount of spiritual energy.
Nakoruru: Rgh...
Rimururu: Ungh...
Lyria: They're both okay! Thank goodness!
The prayer Nakoruru and Rimururu performed was intended to sacrifice their lives, but by some strange quirk of fate they both remain very much alive.
Vyrn: But why? You both said the prayer was strong enough to put you outta commission.
Lyria: Hmm... I can't say for sure, but maybe it was because you split the prayer's power between the two of you?
Lyria: Yeah! That must be it!
Vyrn: Huh? You sure about that, Lyria?
Kuroko: Victory! Well done!
Kuroko: The victors are... Nakoruru! Rimururu! And (Captain)!
Vyrn: Whoooa! There he is again!
Lyria: Look, Nakoruru! Rimururu! Oh no, they fainted!
Vyrn: Hold it right there, buddy! What's your deal? At least tell us your name!
The air is filled with the fragrance of flowers and the rustle of the trees. It is as if Mother Nature herself is putting on a celebration.
As the sky returns to its former, brilliant blue, the crew heads back to the ship to relax. After all they've earned it.

Granblue Shodown - Ending

Thanks to the efforts of (Captain) and company, the evil Amakusa is defeated. Although the miasma covering the skies has vanished, Amakusa's hatred continues to smolder as he awaits his chance to return to the world of the living once more.

Thanks to the efforts of two steadfast samurai spirits, the malevolent flames of evil have been extinguished once more.
The miasma that once covered the sky has cleared, a poison that corrupted the natural world extinguished. Peace has returned once more.
Or so it appears.
???: Heh... Heheheh... You don't honestly think this is over, do you?
???: Underestimate Ambrosia's power at your peril...
???: The Dark Lord responds to powerful hatred... to grudges beyond reckoning!
???: I hope you're shaking in anticipation, you insipid wretches... Once I truly awaken, hell itself is coming to your world.
???: Until then... I slumber. The day of my awakening is the day the skies meet their end!
???: Heh... Heheheh... Bwahahahahaha!
With a burst of maniacal laughter, the ghostly figure vanishes into the air.
Will he be resurrected once more? Only the days ahead hold the answer.
