The newly appointed chieftain of a clan of tanuki spirits native to the Sadou Islands. Though she tries to project the confidence expected of a leader, she is gentle and timid by nature. Still, she perseveres through sheer determination. While her shapeshifting abilities are so weak that she can only assume the form of an Erune-like skydweller, her power to beguile others is the greatest in the clan's history. At full strength, she can even shroud the clan's village in a perpetual veil that prevents outsiders from ever finding it. After nearly drowning at sea as a child, Hifumi was saved by a lifeguard, inspiring a lifelong admiration for the profession. Curious by nature, she has often wandered into nearby villages since she was young. As a result, many of the Sadou Islands' residents—especially children her own age and their parents—already know her true identity, though she remains blissfully convinced that no one has ever found her out.
