The captain of the Straw Hat Crew. This young man aspires to be the Pirate King. Having consumed the Gum-Gum Fruit at an early age, his body took on the properties of rubber, essentially making him a rubber man. Although Luffy readily risks his life in order preserve his carefree style of adventuring, this captain has no intention of kicking the bucket—his friends mean as much to him as he does to them.
