Of all the families in the Karm Clan, Nehan's was especially gifted in the application of drugs for self-enhancement and lethal poisoning. Nehan wasn't particularly blessed in terms of physique, but he made up for it with a remarkable memory, becoming knowledgeable about all sorts of stimulants from a young age. After the clan's massacre, Nehan wandered about until he was sold off to the Magasin crime family as a slave. Being struck by so much tragedy dulled the sensation of pain within him, causing him to close off his heart. This, in turn, allowed him to look more objectively at the sins committed by his clan over the centuries and the payback he dreamed of getting on the clan leader's son. As much as he despised the boy for the horrific incident, he also came to see that the boy wasn't entirely at fault. Nehan applied his knowledge of herbal remedies to help treat fellow slaves, working his way up to the rank of Magasin Pharmaceutical Chief. It was then that he began to believe—perhaps partly as a coping mechanism—that everything is predetermined by fate. When Nehan discovered the Eternal Seox to be the clan leader's son, he began taking action to prove the existence of fate. It was his natural kindness—unbeknownst to Nehan himself—that stopped him from using Mugen for the purposes of vengeance, and perhaps that kindness was something inherent to every member of the clan and ultimately caused its demise. Otherwise, the Karm Clan would not have carried out assassinations during the War in an effort to maintain peace in the skies, which also means they would not have gone on to become ostracized from the rest of the world after the War. Simply put, Nehan wanted to believe that fate is what orchestrated the events leading to his current lot in life.
