Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 1

(Captain) and company keep up the fine tradition of All Hallows' Eve, once again accepting Sierokarte's invitation to a certain village's Halloween festivities.

Ferry: Haha... Long time no see, kiddies. How have you been?

Ange: Greetings, fair princesses. Are you ready for a haunting night? I'm here to escort you.

Trick-or-Treater 1: Mm-hm! I'm going to spook all the grown-ups and gets lots and lots of candy!

Sierokarte: Welcome to town, everyone!

Lyria: Hello, Siero! Thanks for the invitation as always!

Sierokarte: Oh, not at all... Truth is, I have something to discuss with you all this year.

Vyrn: What's up? Lemme guess... Is it monsters?

Sierokarte: Not exactly... Some distance away from the village is a mansion that's fallen to ruin.

Sierokarte: Some children went to check it out as a dare, but they haven't been back for some time...

Lyria: That's not good... Something must've happened at the mansion...

Sierokarte: I can't say for sure, but there have been reports of paranormal sightings...

Sierokarte: Can I ask you to investigate the mansion and save the children while you're at it?

Vyrn: Yeah, we've got this! I don't have a clue what's going on down there, but we'll get on it as soon as we're ready!

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 2

(Captain) and company push open the mansion's old, creaking double doors and step inside.

Ghost 1: Nwahahaha! Trick or treat!

Lyria: Eep! G-ghosts!

(Captain): !

Ghost 2: Whoa now... Halloween's supposed to be a grand ol' time, but you guys have got murder in your eyes.

Ghost 1: Didn't anyone ever teach you guys how to read the room? Sheesh.

Vyrn: Gah! You must be the ones who are keeping the village children hostage!

Ghost 2: Oh, so you're looking for those little brats?

Ghost 1: In that case...

Ghosts: Trick or treat!

Ferry: Looks like we'll have to cough up some candy if we want more info. Too bad we didn't bring any...

Ghost 1: Nyahaha!

Ghost 1: This calls for a trick!

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 3

Ghost 1: Bwaaah... What a rowdy bunch...

Ghost 2: Whoo, it's time we retreated. I can't handle this much excitement all at once.

Feather: Rgh, they're getting away! Just when I was getting started!

Vyrn: Oh, look—they dropped some candy. Guess those ghosts can still appreciate the spirit of Halloween at least.

Lyria: Wow... It smells so nice and sweet...

Vyrn: Yeah, I'm not sure about munchin' on ghostly munchies though...

Feather: Sure they were ghosts, but they just wanted to have a spooktacular time like the rest of us.

Feather: And they sure showed me a heck of a good time with those fists of theirs!

Vyrn: Um... You do realize they didn't have any fists, right?

Vyrn: Aah, Lyria! You're trying them already?

Lyria: I-I was really hungry...

Lyria: And these treats are really yummy! Here, you should all have some!

Vyrn: Gulp... They do smell real good... I guess I'll have one.

Lady Grey: Haha. I'm watching what I eat, so I'll pass. But the rest of you should eat up.

Feather: (Captain), the night's still young! We'd better find those children fast so they have some time left for trick-or-treating!

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 4

(Captain) and company leave no stone unturned as they make their way through the mansion. They finally come upon the entrance to a great hall.

Ghost 1: Nwahaha! From tricks, to treats, and then more tricks! Halloween's such a wicked good time! Don't you guys agree?

Vyrn: Hey, you're the ghost from earlier!
Oh, I can't forget about the candy! You got any of more of those tasty treats?

Lyria: Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! There, I said it! I'd like some more too, pretty please!

Lady Grey: (Odd... Why are those two suddenly so thrilled?)

Lady Grey: (And they seem especially attached to the candy... There must be some trick to it...)

Ghost 2: I can do without the tricks. If it's treats you want, there's plenty more in the hall down there. Follow me.

Lyria: Okay! Let's go, Vyrn, (Captain)!

Vyrn: Heheh! Way ahead of you!

Lady Grey: I wonder if you've noticed the change in their behavior, (Captain). We would do well to proceed with caution.

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 5

Zeta, Vaseraga, Zaja, and Hallessena, who had split up to help (Captain) search for the missing children, come together again just as ghosts pop out of the darkness.

Ghosts: Trick or treat!

Vaseraga: ...

Zaja: ...

Hallessena: Keeheehee! This is crazy to the max! I've got this!

Ghosts: Aawaagh!

Zeta: Shucks... I was hoping to round them up and squeeze some info out of them.

Zeta: Hm, not gonna happen with our group. Oh, look at all the Halloween candy they tossed around the room.

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 6

The crew enters the great hall only to find the purportedly missing children gleefully stuffing their mouths with candy.

Ghost 1: Go ahead and eat all you want! Stick around with us, and this Halloween paradise is gonna last an eternity!

Vyrn & Lyria: Yay!

Lady Grey: No, Lyria, Vyrn. There's something wrong with that candy.

Ghost 1: Don't get in the way, lady! Wait... You haven't had any yet?

Ghost 2: Whoa! She must have some crazy willpower to stave off a craving for treats this tasty...

Lady Grey: Haha... I just happen to be watching what I eat.

Lady Grey: Not to mention Lyria and Vyrn finished every last treat back there in a flash.

Ghosts: No way!

Ghost 2: We scattered the stuff everywhere only to have the two of them gobble it all up? Haven't they ever heard of a balanced diet? Sheesh...

Ghost 1: It's not gonna work unless everyone eats the candy... Ugh, I guess our dream of a yearlong Halloween just went poof...

Lyria: Huh... That's what these yummy treats were for?

Vyrn: Crud, they got us good!

Lady Grey: Nothing wrong with trying to squeeze a little more fun out of Halloween, but you've gone too far with this plot of yours.

Lady Grey: You naughty ghosts with your naughty tricks need to be taught a lesson!

Proving Grounds/October 2019 - Night 7

Just as (Captain) and company learn of the ghosts' plot to turn Halloween into a yearlong tradition throughout all the skies...

Zeta, Vaseraga, Zaja, and Hallessena join the fray.

Zeta: There's something awful about those treats. Seems like they fill you with a morbid obsession for more of the same. Ugh, what they're doing here is just disgusting.

Vyrn: It smelled so good though... How did you guys resist the temptation?

Vaseraga: I stopped them. Zeta came close to having one, but I got to her just in time. It was a close call.

Zeta: Rgh, do you really have to bring that up again! I already thanked you for that!

Zeta: Anyhow, first things first: we have to get the children out of here.

Trick-or-Treater 2: No, leave us alone! We want to stay here and trick-or-treat forever and ever and ever!

Ghost 1: Bwahaha! That's right, the kiddies need to have more of that irresistible candy!

Vyrn: Grr... I'm done! I don't need any more of this stuff!

Lyria: Me too! Part of why Halloween's such an exciting time is because it only comes once a year!

Ghost 1: Gah! Blabber all you want; you'll be changing your tune when we stuff your mouths with these goodies—

Ghost 1: Oh fiddlesticks, the sun's coming up! The door to the other side's gonna close soon...

Ghost 2: Tch, this isn't over yet! We'll be back next Halloween, and when we do...

Ghost 2: We're gonna turn the Sky Realm into the Halloween Realm with treats galore!

Vyrn: Heh! I'd like to see you try!

(Captain) and company draw their weapons, ready to send the ghosts and their mad ambition back through the door to the other side.
