Reflections for a White Clover - Opening

When Krelkulkil awakens from a pleasant dream about the late Keralbarra, a father-daughter pair he's been traveling with—who go by Garoza and Osada—remark on how they had to carry him to an inn after an earlier scuffle with a criminal. As soon as Garoza mentions word of another bounty posting, Krelkulkil leaves the inn with a demon blade in hand.

???: ...
Soft beams of a spring sun drape over a young man lost in thought among a field of white clovers.
A voice interrupts, calling from a village-bound dirt road some ways off.
???: Krelkulkil?
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra?
Keralbarra: There you are! Do you know how long I've been out looking for you? What are you doing out here?
Krelkulkil: Good question. What was I doing out here...
Hm...
Keralbarra: Are you feeling okay? Did my brother bop you on the head during sword drills?
Krelkulkil: Sword drills?
Krelkulkil: (Ah, yes. Those drills. The more I learn, the better I'll be able to bear a demon blade if it should ever come to that.)
Krelkulkil: (Sevilbarra was instructing me at the dojo earlier.)
Keralbarra: Gasp! Would you look at the size of that lump on your head! Honestly that brother of mine has too much spirit for his own good.
Keralbarra: As for you, your brand of fighting is to yell real loud and stand there.
Krelkulkil: I'm aware of my faults. The most fleet-footed fighter, I am not...
Keralbarra: Hmm... I wouldn't say it like that. It's because you're a kindhearted person, Krel.
Keralbarra: You'd rather take a beating than give one. That's the feeling I get when I look at you.
Krelkulkil: Erm... Yeah, I guess so... It'd be nice if there wasn't any fighting...
Krelkulkil: I just don't like seeing people hurting each other.
Keralbarra: That suits you just fine. You and violence don't mix.
Krelkulkil: Guess not...
Keralbarra: Trust me!
Keralbarra: If there ever comes a time when you have to pick up a katana, I'll do it for you instead.
Keralbarra: It's a wife's duty to come to her husband's rescue.
Keralbarra: Um, what do they say? "Two halves make a whole"?
Krelkulkil: I hope you're good with a sword then.
Keralbarra: Hey! Do you think I'm joking?
Keralbarra: This is me being serious! I'm going to protect you, Krel.
Krelkulkil: Thanks.
Keralbarra: ...
Krelkulkil: If you ever find yourself tumbling into trouble...
Krelkulkil: I'll be there to break your fall without fail. I promise.
Keralbarra: Mm-hm!
Krelkulkil: (Without fail, I said...)
Krelkulkil: (I promised her...)
Krelkulkil: (But here I am.)
Krelkulkil awakes from his bittersweet dream and stares up silently at the ceiling.
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: (Keralbarra is gone forever.)
Krelkulkil: (All because I broke my promise.)
Krelkulkil: (A promise to rescue her without fail, but I...)
His fists clenched, he turns his attention to an approaching visitor.
???: Bruv Krelkulkil!
Krelkulkil: Yeah.
???: You lost consciousness after thrashing that katana-swinging wanted criminal.
???: Pops and I had to carry you to this inn.
Krelkulkil: I see.
Krelkulkil: Sorry for the trouble.
???: No, no! Please don't worry about a thing!
???: Here, I brought you some porridge that'll take your mind off things.
???: You still don't look too well. A nutritious and warming meal does a body good.
Krelkulkil: Don't need it.
???: What! U-unacceptable! You have to eat something...
Krelkulkil: I'm not hungry.
???: Oh?
Krelkulkil: In exchange for draining my life force, the demon blade maintains my body at acceptable levels.
Krelkulkil: So I don't need to eat.
???: But...
???: I'm home, Osada!
Osada: Hi, Pops!
Krelkulkil: Garoza.
Garoza: 'Ello there, Mister Krelkulkil. Happy to see your eyes open again!
Krelkulkil: Right.
Garoza: I know ya just woke up an' all, but I got word of another bounty posting. Some thug or another with a katana is half a day out on the next island—
Krelkulkil: Understood.
Osada: Ah! Lie down, Bruv! You should rest for a little long—
Krelkulkil: No need.
Osada: So stubborn! Pops, we're leaving too!
Garoza: W-wait, Osada! Are you listening to me? I said wait!
Krelkulkil, with a demon blade clutched in one hand, leaves the inn with a purpose.
Ghastly dark flames dance in his eyes, flames which he will surely use to scorch his sworn enemy.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 1: Many Moons Rise and Fall - Episode 1

Sevilbarra's family treasure, a special demon blade, was part of his little sister's wedding procession where a villain went on a murder spree and took the blade for himself. Nowadays the Harvin samurai travels with the crew in hopes of one day avenging his sister. After receiving a letter from the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights about that very villain, they make haste for the location specified within.

This is a story from a long time ago.
There once lived a brother and a sister who safeguarded the only inheritance left behind by their deceased parents.
One half of that inheritance was a demon blade, a perilous katana forged in days of yore, capable of killing even a primal beast as claimed by some.
The other half was the sword arts needed to discipline body and mind so that one may cut down evil with the demon blade.
But as time flowed after the great struggle waged between skydwellers and Astrals, demon blades and sword arts were relegated to relics of the past.
Where the dojo had once passed down sword arts to the next generation of islanders, in time it became just another place to train the body.
Even the siblings entrusted with the demon blade no longer thought to take up the weapon.
It just so happened that another family with its own demon blade also resided on the same island.
They chose to control the demon blade by means of ancestral sealing magic over sword arts.
Years of researching various sealing spells for the good of the people solidified their role as the pillar of the island community.
At length the brother decided to hand over his family's demon blade to be sealed.
Marriage between the spellmaster's eldest son and the sister would serve as the ideal occasion to do so.
Carrying her bridal gown and demon blade, the sister crossed the mountains to be wed. And she almost was.
Alas.
One man saw fit not to forever hold his peace. His desire for the demon blade held by the siblings' house turned him into a beast, causing him to attack the wedding procession.
The bride's protectors came to her aid, but were cut down one by one until the aisle was stained red with blood.
Lying in a burgundy sludge, the brother tried to prop himself up with his katana and was greeted with a grisly sight.
A once white wedding dress was now decidedly crimson.
The sister was dead. The demon blade stolen. The brother a failure at protecting either one.
When the disgraced brother finally stirred, he found the groom had already vanished from his estate.
The groom had left to find the murderer. If he had to sacrifice his soul to the demon blade, then so be it.
The brother seeks this murderer much in the same vein. The demon blade that set this tragedy in motion will be shattered by the brother's hand.
So goes this old tale, one whose ending is still yet to be written.
No one can predict its conclusion, but it's surely nearing, one day at a time.
Lyria: Sevilbarra! Where are you?
Sevilbarra: Hm?
Vyrn: Aha! Found him! So this is where you've been hiding, Straw Hat Guy.
Sevilbarra: What's got you two, and even (Captain), so out of breath?
Lyria: We just got a letter from the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights.
Sevilbarra: The Lumiel Order of Holy Knights? Ah, close friends of (Captain), if I remember correctly.
Bridgette is a crew member, Cordelia is a crew member, Sevastien is a crew member, Any version of Charlotta is a crew member, Any version of Baotorda is a crew member

Lyria: That's right! Some of those knights are even part of our crew.
Vyrn: (Captain) asked them if they knew anything about that guy you were chasing.
Sevilbarra: You did that for me, (Captain)? Apologies to you, Captain, for taking up your time.
(Captain) reassures Sevilbarra that sending a single missive is hardly any trouble at all.
Lyria: This letter is their response.
Lyria: It doesn't go into any details, but it says they want us to go talk to them!
Sevilbarra: ...!
Sevilbarra: It sounds like this order has valuable information.
Vyrn: That's what we think too! Otherwise they wouldn't bother calling us out there.
(Captain) nods at Vyrn and sets a course for an inn at their next destination.
Sevilbarra: I feel as if I'm always in your debt, (Captain).
Sevilbarra: But now I might finally be able to get my hands on that knave!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 1: Many Moons Rise and Fall - Episode 2

The crew meets up with Sevastien of the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights. He explains that Corwell, the man Sevilbarra seeks, is a former member of the order who now goes around with his lackeys attacking villages. They set a course for what is likely to be his current location.

When the crew arrives at an establishment belonging to the Lumiel Order, a veteran of the holy knights is waiting to greet them. His name is Sevastien.
Sevastien: Thank you for taking the trouble to come to see me, everyone. I wish I could have shared this information with you as soon as possible...
Sevastien: But the information we obtained is best told in person, not written and delivered in a note.
Sevilbarra: Mm, I realize you have your own restrictions. I'm happy to receive any information at all.
Sevastien: I appreciate your understanding, Sevilbarra.
Sevastien: Now then, I believe it's time to get to the heart of the matter.
Vyrn: Gulp...
Sevastien: We think Corwell is the name of the man with the demon blade that Sevilbarra is chasing.
Sevilbarra: How did you come across that name?
Sevastien: He goes from region to region flashing a dangerous blade, attacking villages with his underlings.
Sevastien: Such crimes can't be overlooked by the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights. We are pursuing a course that will result in his arrest.
Vyrn: Yeah... A dangerous guy like that belongs behind bars.
Sevastien: Exactly. However, we aren't tracking Corwell solely for the sake of the populace.
Lyria: Oh? Is there a special reason then?
Sevastien: Yes. That's why we couldn't take a chance to have it recorded in writing.
Sevilbarra: ...
Sevastien: Corwell... He used to be a knight of the Lumiel Order.
Sevilbarra: What! One of yours, you say!
Sevastien: For what it's worth, he was an ordinary young man who didn't cause trouble at the time of his admittance.
Vyrn: How could a guy like that end up murdering Straw Hat Guy's family and stealing the demon blade?
Sevastien: Forever pure, forever righteous. That is the motto of the Lumiel Order.
Sevastien: However, there was a time when this motto was executed to the extreme.
Sevastien: Holy knights themselves weren't the only ones subject to righteousness. It was demanded of their relatives as well.
Vyrn: Hmm... What's so bad about that?
Vyrn: Even non-knights following forever pure, forever righteous sounds like a good thing. Right?
Sevastien: It becomes a problem when applied too far.
Sevastien: Let's say there was an incident in which a knight's relative harmed someone else.
Sevastien: Even if that knight had no involvement whatsoever, they would be discharged from the order. Corwell was one such case.
Vyrn: So if Corwell got kicked out, that means...
Sevastien: You're on the right track. It turns out Corwell's grandfather was involved in a deadly incident in his hometown.
Lyria: His grandfather?
Sevastien: Something about a magic-infused katana that causes derangement.
Sevilbarra: Like a demon blade... Plus derangement...
Sevilbarra: I wonder if...
Lyria: What are you thinking about, Sevilbarra?
Sevilbarra: When my father was a lad, my grandfather's disciple got hold of the demon blade and raised hell.
Sevilbarra: The disciple wished to gauge the fruits of his training, but he wasn't able to overcome the demon blade's corruption.
Sevilbarra: In the end it was my father who somehow stopped the disciple's demon blade rampage.
Sevastien: That disciple was no doubt Corwell's grandfather.
Sevastien: According to documentation a male family member was taken into custody for possession of a demon blade.
Sevilbarra: And that documentation is?
Sevastien: An independent report into Corwell's personal history performed by a praetor of the Lumiel Order.
Sevastien: Using this report as probable cause, Corwell was discharged from the holy knights.
Sevilbarra: And after that he attacked Keralbarra's wedding procession...
Sevastien: I can only make guesses about his motives.
Sevastien: However, regardless of whatever reason he has, the reality is a former member of the order has harmed the innocent.
Sevastien: This is a grave matter that can't be swept under the rug. We must arrest Corwell immediately.
Sevilbarra: Arrest, huh...
Sevilbarra: Yes, you're right. He must be arrested.
Sevastien: I do believe Corwell's weapon of choice is the demon blade pilfered from Sevilbarra.
Sevastien: Is there anything about that blade you can share with us?
Sevastien: On our end we shall make available to you all known information regarding Corwell.
Sevilbarra: That's fine by me, but is your order okay with this arrangement?
Sevastien: That man has already caused substantial damage. No one is concerned with the silly question of who makes the arrest.
Sevilbarra: Fair enough. I'll tell you everything I know.
Sevilbarra and Sevastien exchange information.
Vyrn: Does that Corwell guy have his own airship?
Sevastien: He has a small older-model airship that he uses as his base and as an escape vehicle.
Sevastien: Taking its fuel capacity into consideration, he is most likely hiding in this area of the skies.
After confirming once more on the map, (Captain) and Sevilbarra nod to each other in preparation to head out.
Sevastien: Corwell commands a cadre of extremely violent riffraff. Do be careful.
Lyria: We will! Let's go, Sevilbarra.
Sevilbarra: Yeah.
As the crew is about to return to the airship, Sevastien stops Sevilbarra.
Sevastien: Sevilbarra.
Sevilbarra: What is it?
Sevastien: Are you going to kill him?
Sevilbarra: ...
I don't know.
Sevilbarra: I'll reclaim the demon blade from him and destroy it. That's as far as I've thought things out...
Sevilbarra: But when I see him face to face, maybe the urge to kill him will be too strong. Who can say.
Sevilbarra: I understand he must be judged by the law.
Sevilbarra: Yet I trained myself to wield the demon blade, and now look at me. My ancestors are rolling in their graves.
Sevastien listens to Sevilbarra's self-pity in silence.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 1: Many Moons Rise and Fall - Episode 3

Krelkulkil completes another bounty mission, dismayed once again that his true mark is not the target. His body debilitated from continued use of a demon blade, he passes out on the spot. Osada scolds her father for caring only about the bounty money and not about Krelkulkil—a task she takes up herself.

Wanted Fugitive: ...
Wanted Fugitive: Aaaugh!
Krelkulkil: Not you either.
Krelkulkil: Unh...
Krelkulkil crumples into a heap on the floor from the strain of the demon blade.
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil!
Krelkulkil: ...
Osada: Eeep! You've got a wildfire of a fever!
Osada: Pops! We gotta get him to a doctor quickly!
Garoza: C'mon, this happens all the time. Mister'll rise and shine before ya know it.
Osada: How can you be so heartless! Can't you see the pain on his face?
Osada: You just want your kickback for the bounty after Bruv takes down the fugitive...
Garoza: I-it's not a kickback! It's more like a... a finder's fee!
Garoza: I was looking at wanted posters when I saw one feller who could've been the bad guy Mister's been after.
Garoza: It's tough when all ya know is the chap's got a demon blade or some such. Why shouldn't I get paid for my time—
Osada: Shush! Stop rambling and help me carry Bruv!
Garoza: Okay, okay!
Garoza hefts Krelkulkil onto his back with little enthusiasm, and they head for the nearest village.
Garoza leaves Krelkulkil and Osada to collect the bounty and then returns some time later.
Garoza: I sure hope Mister can take down a couple more bounties before facing this nemesis of his.
Doctor: Ah, you're back, Garoza.
Garoza: Y-yeah! Hi! Sorry for sticking this on ya outta the blue.
Doctor: You say that every time. Though I suppose there's no use in getting upset about it now.
Garoza: Hehe. Glad we're on the same page. Everyone needs a good friend in their corner.
Doctor: Friend? Osada's mother was my friend, but she's deceased now.
Garoza: Nnh...
Doctor: Leaving Osada behind must have been her biggest regret. Ah, the poor thing.
Doctor: Garoza, you can't keep stumbling through life like this forever. You need to get your act together—
Garoza: S-so, Doc, what's Krelkulkil's condition like?
Doctor: That young Harvin man, you mean?
Garoza: Yep. He always looks like he's in bad shape, and it only gets worse...
Doctor: Some form of magic afflicts his body. I don't understand how he can move with that debilitation.
Doctor: This is out of my league, and I'm not about to take responsibility for him, sad as it may be.
Garoza: I see...
Doctor: I'm stepping away for a bit. I advise you to consider your future. Krelkulkil should too.
Garoza: R-right...
Garoza: I'm back.
Osada: Hey, Pops.
Garoza: You're still awake, Osada? It's past your bedtime. Little pups need their sleep too.
Osada: I'm not like you, Pops! I can't sleep without a care when someone's sick!
Garoza: Gulp...
Osada: It's not like we can keep leeching off this person's kindness either.
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil needs to get better quickly so we can get out of the doctor's hair.
Garoza: Don't worry about that, Osada! The doc's a good friend of mine.
Garoza: Heck, just now he even told me we're welcome to stay as long as we like.
Osada: Is that the truth?
Garoza: It's true! Really...
Osada: I hope so.
Krelkulkil: ...
Osada: Bruv! Where does it hurt?
Osada forgets Garoza for the moment and rushes to Krelkulkil's pillow.
Osada: Looks like he went back to sleep.
Garoza: Say, Osada. Why do you care so much about Mister anyway?
Osada: When I look at him, he reminds me of Mom.
Osada: She got sick too... Her face was all pale, just like his.
Garoza: Yeah... Yeah, she was.
Osada: Plus I owe him for giving me this!
Garoza: Uh, what's that? A dead leaf?
Osada: It's a lucky four-leaf clover! Bruv picked it for me!
Garoza: Look how withered it is though. Just toss it already.
Osada: No! What are you talking about! There's no way I'm doing that!
Osada: Geez! You never have anything nice to say!
Garoza: And you always get to say whatever you want...
Osada: Says who? You're putting words in my mouth! Why don't you get it together!
Garoza: Owie, ow, ow! Sorry, Osada, Pops was wrong! You can stop kicking me in the shins now!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 1: Many Moons Rise and Fall - Episode 4

Krelkulkil dreams of good times spent with Keralbarra and Sevilbarra. Noticing that these dreams are becoming more frequent, he—who hails from a family line that seals demon blades—realizes that his own brand is starting to take its toll on him. But he does not mind as long as he can have his vengeance.

Sevilbarra: How goes it, Krelkulkil? Think you can seal my demon blade?
Krelkulkil: I don't think it'll be a problem. My sealing skills should be enough to lock down its power.
Sevilbarra: That's music to my ears. This is a dangerous thing you're dealing with.
Sevilbarra: Why'd my ancestors have to leave behind such a troublesome heirloom?
Krelkulkil: Do you think it's troublesome? To me it represents the determination faced by the people of that era.
Sevilbarra: Because the skydweller blacksmiths crafted them in the war against the Astrals?
Krelkulkil: Yes, though you could say they were playing with fire.
Krelkulkil: After the War ended, the demon blade smiths took their mental blueprints with them and vanished throughout the skies.
Krelkulkil: One theory claims they were ostracized by people who wanted no part of the blades and their production.
Sevilbarra: Going crazy and having your body and mind consumed in exchange for the power of the blade... Mm, it's just not worth it.
Sevilbarra: Taking care of business without using demon blades is the way to go.
Keralbarra: I have finished brewing the tea. Everyone, please kindly take a cup.
Krelkulkil: Thanks. Cheers, Keralbarra.
Keralbarra: Tee. Hee. Hee. I hope your palate finds it suitable.
Sevilbarra: What are you trying to pull, Keralbarra? There's something... off about you.
Keralbarra: Oh no, my dear brother, where have I spoken oddly?
Keralbarra: I'm—oops—I am the same as I have always been!
Krelkulkil: I agree with Sevilbarra... Something isn't quite right here. Why are you talking like that, Keralbarra?
Sevilbarra: Fishing for compliments perhaps?
Keralbarra: That's a load of hooey!
Sevilbarra: Oh, hey. She's back.
Keralbarra: Bah... You messed with my chance to practice using polite speech...
Krelkulkil: That was polite speech?
Keralbarra: Yeah... You know how I have an accent when I talk? And sometimes I don't use very nice words either...
Sevilbarra: What of it? Lots o' people living on this island have accents.
Keralbarra: Not in Krel's house! Everyone there's so courteous!
Krelkulkil: Ah... The people in my household often do business with other islands, so they have to be.
Sevilbarra: Who else is gonna do it? You guys practically run this island.
Krelkulkil: I wouldn't go so far as to say that... If an island representative is needed, we're sometimes called up to take that mantle.
Keralbarra: See? Krel's modesty is proof of his sophistication!
Keralbarra: I gotta be classy if I don't wanna embarrass him.
Krelkulkil: You worry too much. I don't see anyone else commenting on your accent. Do you?
Keralbarra: I guess they don't...
Krelkulkil: Exactly. The Keralbarra I know is perfect the way she is. That's who I want for my better half.
Keralbarra: Weeell... If that's how you feel...
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil, don't spoil her too much, else it'll come back to bite you. Especially with a tomboy like—
Sevilbarra: Yeowch!
Keralbarra: Did you say something, Brother?
Sevilbarra: I said yeowch! Stop twisting my ear!
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil! Stop chortling and get her off—yaaagh!
Krelkulkil: Just a dream...
Krelkulkil: Cough... Cough...
Krelkulkil: (These flashbacks are getting more frequent. It tends to happen before the demon blade's corruption wipes my memory.)
Krelkulkil: (Symptoms are showing in my personality and appearance. Which will be the first to go, my body or my soul?)
Krelkulkil: (Either way it doesn't matter.)
Krelkulkil: (Vengeance will be mine.)
Krelkulkil, his skin drained of color, looks at the very thing consuming him: the demon blade passed down in his family.
It eagerly awaits the moment when it gets to taste the sweet nectar of bloody revenge.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 2: Yet the Cold Always Comes - Episode 1

Deep in the mountains one night, Corwell's bandits begin to express fear at how far gone his demon blade has made him. The problem is only compounded when he cuts up one of the men for gossiping about him.

A small, tattered airship is moored in the heart of some mountains, camouflaged by the woods.
In a pitch-black room devoid of any light, only the glimmer of a man's glare flickers in the darkness.
???: One...
???: Two...
Lovingly caressing the bladed weapons hanging on a wall, the man turns his ears to the sounds outside the airship.
With his sharp sense of hearing, he's able to listen in on his underlings huddled around a fire.
Scrawny Bandit: It's f-freezin' out here... Why can't we go inside?
Burly Bandit: Would if I could. The smell in there makes me wanna barf.
Scrawny Bandit: That's the sucky part, but why waste what we have?
Burly Bandit: You wanna spend the night close to that guy, be my guest. No guarantees you'll see the sun rise tomorrow though.
His other comrades around the fire express fearful murmurs of agreement.
Scrawny Bandit: He seemed more... on the level at first, ya know?
Scrawny Bandit: I mean, I know he ain't no saint. He attacks people for food and money.
Burly Bandit: Chap was smiling—smiling—as he kept chopping at dead bodies. Just rememberin' it gives me the willies.
Burly Bandit: I keep picturin' him cuttin' my head off in my sleep. Nearly pissed my pants.
Burly Bandit: Gettin' the hell outta here sounds better an' better by the sec—
???: Heh.
Burly Bandit: Augh!
A man slides out from the burly bandit's shadow. He thrusts the tip of his blade just under the bandit's chin.
Scrawny Bandit: C-Corwell! When did you—
Corwell: I can hear so much now...
Corwell: When I'm holding this katana, I can hear everything.
Corwell: Too much even. It irritates me.
Corwell: How do you feel about eternal slumber?
Burly Bandit: Uargh!
Corwell: Irritating.
Burly Bandit: Unnh...
Scrawny Bandit: Y-yeep...
Corwell: Aah, beautiful. There's no finer beauty than the glint of a moonlight blade. Even more so when it's dipped in red.
Burly Bandit: Ugh... It hurts...
Corwell: Oops, needs more red.
Scrawny Bandit: Eeek!
Scrawny Bandit: P-please, wait! We've followed your every word!
Scrawny Bandit: We helped you collect all those demon blades and magic swords you wanted, remember?
Corwell: Ah, so you did. You did, you did.
Corwell: Job well done, everyone. I can expect the same level of success going forward?
Scrawny Bandit: Y-yeah! Sure, man, you got it! C'mon, Corwell, put the katana away...
Corwell: Pfft... Snort...
Corwell: Wahahaha!
Scrawny Bandit: C-Corwell?
Corwell: Irritating.
Scrawny Bandit: Guh...
Corwell: So annoying—shut up. Die. Go away. Can't you see? It's cold—I'm cold. Need it—I need it! Need proof. Proof, proof, proof.
The surviving bandits cower from the horrific flogging cast on the corpses of their comrades.
In a farcical twist, hardened criminals with no qualms over hurting and stealing from others now tremble like cowards.
All of this seems lost on the sneering Corwell. His derisive laughter rings into the night.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 2: Yet the Cold Always Comes - Episode 2

(Captain) and company land on one of the eastern islands of Phantagrande, where Corwell is rumored to be. On their way to a village, they catch word of dead bodies flowing down the nearby river. Suspecting that the bandits may have had a falling out, the crew heads upstream to look into the matter.

Several days have passed since the meeting with Sevastien. The crew arrives in the eastern regions of Phantagrande.
Lyria: This is the biggest island in these parts!
Vyrn: First order of business is to scope out the nearest village. Right, Straw Hat Guy?
Sevilbarra: ...
Lyria: Sevilbarra? Is something wrong?
Sevilbarra: Hm? Um, no, excuse me. It's just that this island is kinda close to the one I'm from.
Lyria: Is that so?
Sevilbarra: Mm. Probably takes a day at most by airship to get there.
Sevilbarra: I remember traveling all over these parts when I was looking for my sister's murderer before returning empty-handed.
Sevilbarra makes his way to the front as he speaks, leading the crew to the village.
When the crew arrives at the village, they notice a sort of discomfort in the air.
Lyria: Everyone here seems on edge... We should ask someone what's wrong.
(Captain) manages to flag down a distressed villager to inquire about what has happened.
Vyrn: Ick... Dead bodies washed down here on the river?
Sevilbarra: The villagers think the bandits living in the mountains might've been getting rid of "dead weight."
Lyria: Dead weight?
Sevilbarra: Mm. Furthermore, the corpses seem to have been slashed repeatedly.
Sevilbarra: In the local armorer's opinion, the weapon used was most likely a katana.
Vyrn: A katana? Hey, do you think the bandit leader who did this could be Corwell?
Sevilbarra: It's possible, yeah. There's only one way to find out.
Lyria: The villagers won't be able to feel safe until they know the whole story.
Vyrn: It gives me the creeps, but let's follow the river upstream to look for clues!

Seeing that a trek past the treacherous terrain upstream could last well into the night, the crew takes up the villagers' gracious offer of room and board. Sevilbarra once again has another blissful dream of himself, Keralbarra, and Krelkulkil.

Village Elder: Goodness! You plan on heading upstream?
Sevilbarra: Yes. There's a chance the killer is also the same man I've been tracking.
Village Elder: Is that a fact? To be honest with you, we'd like to get to the bottom of this hubbub as well.
Village Elder: We can't offer you much in the way of a reward, but you have our thanks for uncovering anything.
Vyrn: Are you sure it's okay to get the villagers involved by making a request? We're gonna help anyway.
Village Elder: No one objects. Those bandits have tormented us for long enough.
Village Elder: Speaking of which, these mountains are more treacherous than meets the eye. I strongly suggest not leaving right this minute.
Village Elder: Come spend the night and leave in the morning.
Vyrn: Good point. If we left now, we'd be fumbling in the dark looking for Corwell's goons.
Lyria: I think we should take the elder's offer and rest for tomorrow.
Sevilbarra: I hear you. To blunder now out of impatience would render moot all we've done to this point.
After hearing the opinions of each crew member, (Captain) gives the order to stay at the village inn.
Sevilbarra: ...
Keralbarra: All righty! I'm off to shop! Make sure the house doesn't burn down while I'm gone!
Sevilbarra: Yeah, yeah. Get on with you!
Sevilbarra: Honestly, that girl is too bubbly for her own good. You'd think she'd exhibit some refinement with the wedding looming.
Sevilbarra: What say you, Krelkulkil? Are you ready to endure the trials of being married to my sister?
Krelkulkil: What trials am I enduring exactly?
Sevilbarra: Thank you for proving my point. You're whipped already.
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra is a compassionate person. I feel like she's too good for me.
Krelkulkil: You did a fine job of raising her right, if I may say so.
Sevilbarra: Oh, stop. You're giving me a swelled head.
Krelkulkil: But it wasn't my intention to flatter—
Sevilbarra: Sigh, it's people like you who... No, I suppose that's why you can't help it.
Krelkulkil: ...?
Sevilbarra: Listen, Krelkulkil.
Sevilbarra: Sis suffered terribly from Mother's death, and it didn't help none when Father died so early on either.
Sevilbarra: Truthfully I still question my effectiveness as a foster parent, but...
Sevilbarra: Having a reliable husband at her side would lay my anxiety to rest. That husband being you of course.
Krelkulkil: Sevilbarra...
Sevilbarra: Take good care of Keralbarra. Give her the happiness she deserves.
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra's always been happy, because she has such a proud brother behind her.
Krelkulkil: Although I can't deny that she makes me happy, so it's only fair that I make her happy in return.
Krelkulkil: We'll brighten each other's days together hand in hand.
Krelkulkil: That's why I foresee us living in a blissful future.
Krelkulkil: I'll do whatever it takes to make it so. My brother-in-law can count on it.
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil...

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 2: Yet the Cold Always Comes - Episode 4

A villager comes knocking while the crew is asleep. Having received word that a neighboring village is under attack, (Captain) and company immediately set out amid the snowfall.

Vyrn: Hawuh? Whozzat?
(Captain) and company are jolted awake by the village elder furiously rapping at their door.
Village Elder: I'm terribly sorry, skyfarers! We desperately request your assistance!
Lyria: What's the matter, sir?
Village Elder: The bandits are raiding the next village over. A number of the survivors fled here, but they're severely wounded.
Vyrn: Oh man, this is not good.
Village Elder: It's impossible to think simple villagers could take on bandits! So please...
Vyrn: Leave it to us, Gramps! We'll start a rescue operation right away! C'mon, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods at Vyrn, quickly slips into battle-worthy gear, and exits the inn.
Sevilbarra is already outside waiting, eager to get moving.
Sevilbarra: Should've left earlier even if it would've been a slog... Well, no point in dwelling on hindsight.
Sevilbarra: Let's make haste to the other village!
Lyria: Yes! Hurry!
A local youth volunteers to act as a guide, and the crew sprints toward the besieged village.
Soft snow begins to fall, unconcerned by the danger waiting ahead.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 3: Thus We Dance in Madness - Episode 1

(Captain) and crew arrive at their destination only to find Corwell and his bandits wreaking havoc. Sevilbarra goes into a berserker rage at the sight of Corwell, but Lyria reminds him that they should save the villagers first.

The village elder has asked the crew to rescue another village nearby that is under attack by the bandits.
When the crew arrives at the source of tortured screams, they find a village covered not in snow but despair.
Village Child: Save us! Somebody save us!
Village Child: Aaah!
Village Child: Ouch!
Spiteful Bandit: What's this?
Spiteful Bandit: Outta the way, brat!
(Captain) stops the bandit's blade from connecting with the child and repels the attacker backward.
Lyria: Are you okay? Are you hurt?
Village Child: Huh? A-are you guys skyfarers?
Vyrn: We sure are! Your neighbors from the other village asked us to come over!
Village Child: Whoa! Thanks, skyfarers!
Sevilbarra: How many bandits are there? Who are they taking orders from?
Sevilbarra: And where's a safe place to evacuate the villagers? So much to figure out...
Corwell: Where is it?
Corwell: Where are you hiding the demon blade!
Village Woman: O-our village has no such thing! I swear we really don't!
Corwell: Hiding my blade... Hiding it from me.
Village Woman: Please, I beg you... How could our little village keep something so outrageous?
Corwell: ...
Village Woman: Wh-why are you holding that lamp like that? And that oil... Oh no...
Village Woman: Noooo! Somebody please save me!
Corwell: Snicker...
Corwell: Wahahaha!
Sevilbarra: ...!
Vyrn: Shoot! The bandits set a house on fire!
Lyria: We have to put it out before it spreads to the other houses!
Vyrn: Argh! It's bad enough chasing out these bandits. Now we're on firefighting duty too?
Vyrn: Hey, Straw Hat Guy! Split off from (Captain) and go—
Sevilbarra: ...
Vyrn: Straw Hat Guy!
Sevilbarra: The blue moon has arisen!
Lyria: Sevilbarra!
Sevilbarra: Prepare to meet your maker! For my family's sake... For Keralbarra's sake... They will savor revenge!
Sevilbarra: Corweeell!
Corwell: You lost me.
Sevilbarra: Damn you!
Corwell: Revenge? Hm, revenge... On me?
Sevilbarra: Yes, you scoundrel! You attacked her wedding procession and killed everyone but me!
Sevilbarra: That demon blade in your hand tells the whole story!
Corwell: Aaah...
Corwell: Such a nice katana. The more it kills, the sharper it gets.
Corwell: I can't for the life of me remember any of the lives it's taken.
Sevilbarra: ...!
Lyria's Voice: No! Please stop!
Sevilbarra: Lyria!
Sevilbarra pries his eyes off Corwell and turns around to see villagers under attack.
Vyrn: Darn it! There's too many bad guys!
(Captain) is frantically fighting a large group of bandits who are keeping the captain from coming to the aid of a villager.
Spiteful Bandit: Gahaha!
Village Woman: P-please!
(Captain) is unable to reach the woman who is about to meet her doom.
Sevilbarra: Raaaah!
The Harvin samurai leaves his showdown with Corwell to come flying to the woman's rescue.
Sevilbarra: My sword arts serve the singular purpose of striking down evil with the demon blade!
Sevilbarra: That I possess not a demon blade changes nothing! Suffer punishment, villain!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 3: Thus We Dance in Madness - Episode 2

After defeating the bandits and evacuating every last villager, the crew discovers that Corwell is no longer there. Amid their panic Lyria spots a small airship taking off in the distance. (Captain) and company head to the docks to chase after it.

(Captain) and Sevilbarra fight in tandem to stem the tide of the bandit onslaught.
Lyria: (Captain)! That's the last of the evacuees!
All villagers have been safely relocated to the village chief's residence. (Captain) breathes a sigh of relief.
Village Woman: Thank you! Oh, thank you so much!
Vyrn: 'Preciate it, but it'd really help us out if you could look after the wounded!
Village Woman: Of course!
Sevilbarra: Gone...
Lyria: Huh?
Sevilbarra: He's gone. The leader of the bandits... My nemesis, Corwell!
Vyrn: Crud... Must've slipped away in the confusion.
Vyrn: There's no way we can let a pyromaniac like that walk around! Let's get a search party goin'!
Spiteful Bandit: Corwell, you sneaky son of a—
Sevilbarra: Sounds like you know something... You're gonna take us to him!
Spiteful Bandit: H-hell no!
Spiteful Bandit: You'll never catch up to him even if you tried! He's gotta be back in our base by now.
Lyria: (Captain)! Look, over there!
Sevilbarra: Hm... That must be his personal vessel!
Sevilbarra: Sevastien mentioned you bandits use an old airship as your base of operations!
Spiteful Bandit: Yeah, that's the one! I knew he was planning on escaping all by himself!
Vyrn: Well, that ain't happenin' on our watch! We'll fire up our own airship and go after him!
After leaving the tied-up bandits with local authorities, the crew hurries back to port.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 3: Thus We Dance in Madness - Episode 3

The Grandcypher closes in fast on Corwell's ship, and Corwell responds by raising altitude. Sevilbarra notifies the others that he plans on crashing into the Grandcypher, giving the crew ample chance to evade him.

The Grandcypher screams through the night sky in hot pursuit.
Lyria: Can we catch up to him?
Sevilbarra: His ship is pretty rickety. Lucky for us it's old and undermanned.
Vyrn: Then the good ol' Grandcypher should have no problems catching up!
True to Vyrn's words, their airship closes distance with fantastic speed.
Lyria: Just a little closer...
Vyrn: What are we supposed to do when we get to him? The only way on is to jump.
Sevilbarra: I'll go. You guys keep our ship level.
Lyria: Oh no! Look!
Lyria: There's smoke coming from his ship!
Sevilbarra: He's overheating the engines trying to outrun us!
Vyrn: If this keeps up, the engine's gonna go kaput and send the ship crashing down...
Vyrn and (Captain) give each other a knowing look.
But contrary to their expectations, the old ship begins to climb instead of sink.
Lyria: What is he trying to do?
Vyrn: Beats me, but if we wanna catch him, we gotta go up too!
(Captain) gives the order to ascend, but Sevilbarra cuts the captain off.
Sevilbarra: Blast! He's changing course!
Sevilbarra: That scoundrel is trying to crash his ship into ours!
Vyrn: But that'll take him out too—
Sevilbarra: No time to argue! Move the ship!
Half-trusting the safety of the crew to chance, (Captain) forces the airship to make a sharp turn.
As Sevilbarra had warned, Corwell's ship, its engine ablaze and smoking, hurtles for the Grandcypher.
Lyria: Aaah!
The smaller ship glances off the armored hull of the Grandcypher and into the bottomless sky.
(Captain) watches the small ship fall away while holding tightly onto Lyria so that she too doesn't follow.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 3: Thus We Dance in Madness - Episode 4

Corwell leaps on to the Grandcypher while the crew is distracted by his ship crash-landing. Lyria and Vyrn are aghast at the mad frenzy the demon blade has put him in. Sevilbarra and crew prepare to do battle.

Vyrn: Can't believe he'd resort to a last-ditch effort like that...
Vyrn peeks over the railing of the deck to see what has become of the situation below.
Sevilbarra: Look out!
Vyrn: Geh!
Sevilbarra yanks Vyrn back with all his might and they go tumbling backward onto the deck. There's someone standing where Vyrn had been.
Lyria: Y-you're—
Corwell: Heh... Heh heh heh...
Vyrn: Where did he come from?
Sevilbarra: He jumped from his ship onto ours as it was falling. It was just a big diversion.
Corwell: Yes... Yes... Quite so. That was my grandfather. He used the demon blade from the dojo.
Lyria: Um...
Corwell: Demon... blade... Right, right. Where is it? My blade, I mean. My demon blade. Mine. Whose? Grandfather's. Mine. Mine, mine, mine, mine...
Corwell: Lumieeel!
Vyrn: Ack! Guy's lost a few screws!
Sevilbarra: Demon blades are cursed weapons that corrupt the body and soul of the wielder.
Sevilbarra: Enraptured by the blade, a person goes on a murder spree, descending further into madness, physically and mentally.
Lyria: Madness...
Corwell: Hahahahahaha!
Prepare to meet your maker!
Corwell: Let's have an exquisite match!
Sevilbarra: Exquisite? Don't make me laugh.
Sevilbarra: I didn't come here to play games with you! I will crush you into the ground. The demon blade will be returned to me!
Vyrn: We'll back you up, Straw Hat Guy! Let's go, (Captain)!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 4: Now I Walk in Mahapadma - Episode 1

Corwell, the criminal responsible for robbing Sevilbarra of both his sister and demon blade, lies defeated at the hands of (Captain) and company. To ensure safe passage before they hand him over to the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights, Sevilbarra suggests the crew visit the elder in his hometown to learn more about demon blades.

Corwell, the man who robbed Sevilbarra of his family's demon blade and his sister of her life, is defeated by the crew.
They return to the village to ensure Corwell's underlings are handed over to the authorities before hopping back onto the Grandcypher.
Corwell: They're mine—all mine, mine, mine...
Mine, mine—my knighthood—mine, mine, mine...
Sevilbarra: (How I wish I could just snatch the demon blade clutched in his hand, but he's pretty much got a death grip on it.)
Sevilbarra: (Maybe if I lop off his arms... and pass his death off as complications from the demon blade's corruption.)
Sevilbarra: ...
Sevilbarra: (Who'd blame me if I ended up killing him? Except...)
Vyrn: Hey, Sevilbarra, you're gonna hand this guy over to the Lumiel Order like you said, right?
Sevilbarra: Yeah... That's the plan. I'd prefer to leave him in Sevastien's custody.
Sevilbarra: But before that, would you mind steering the ship to my home island for a quick stop, (Captain)?
Vyrn: Um, shouldn't we be headin' for the island where the holy knights are first?
Sevilbarra: I need to pry the demon blade off of Corwell before we hand him over.
Lyria: Oh, you're right. Otherwise the order would have to worry about both Corwell and the demon blade.
Sevilbarra: There's an elder on my island who studies demon blades that I can get advice from.
Sevilbarra: The possibility of Corwell turning violent again isn't zero, so before we turn him in, I might need your help putting him in his place if it comes to that.
Vyrn: Hm... Got a point there. We tied him up real good, but he's not letting go of that demon blade.
Vyrn: It's good to know there's a pro out there who knows all about demon blades!
(Captain) nods at Vyrn, and it's full speed ahead for Sevilbarra's island.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 4: Now I Walk in Mahapadma - Episode 2

After Sevilbarra is faced with the object of his vengeance, his state of mind becomes a concern for Lyria and Vyrn. Devoid of peace in his heart, the Harvin considers the best course of action while wondering how Krelkulkil might be faring.

Lyria: Phew...
Vyrn: What's up, Lyria?
Lyria: I don't really know how to describe what I'm feeling, but I guess you could call it relief.
Lyria: Sevilbarra manages to stay so calm even when the man who murdered his sister is right in front of him.
Vyrn: Yeah, it's definitely a surprise. Especially considering how hung up Straw Hat Guy was on the whole thing.
Vyrn: Hate to say "at least he didn't dive off the deep end," but I do feel better knowing he didn't.
Vyrn: Not that I thought he might actually pull something against Corwell or anything.
Lyria: Mm-hm...
Vyrn: I totally get it though. That Corwell is the worst of the worst!
Vyrn: We can't even ask him why he went after the demon blade. Not in the condition he's in right now anyway.
Vyrn: And to cap it all off, his mind's in no shape to reflect on the horrible stuff he's done! Or anything at all for that matter! It's crazy...
Lyria: You're right about that.
(Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn vent their anger over the troubles that seem to be affecting Sevilbarra's state of mind.
Sevilbarra: (I wish I hadn't heard that. Serves me right for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.)
Sevilbarra: (I'm making them worry about me.)
Sevilbarra: (I might look calm to everyone at a glance, but that's simply because my rage is too deep to show itself properly.)
Sevilbarra: ...
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil... Where have you gone to?
Sevilbarra: It's finally happened. Our nemesis has been caught.
Sevilbarra: From this point on, I...
Sevilbarra: So I...

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 4: Now I Walk in Mahapadma - Episode 3

With harsh words of motivation from his daughter, Garoza searches the bounty office and finds a posting of bandits purportedly collecting demon blades. He learns that individuals cooperating with the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights have already taken care of this particular bounty, then relays the info to Krelkulkil.

Garoza: Sigh, someone throw me a bone here... Why does Osada keep forcin' me to help out Mister?
Garoza: No food until I find info on that guy Krelkulkil's looking for? Oh, woe is me...
Garoza is tasked with reporting any bounties he finds that involve katana-wielding criminals to Krelkulkil.
After receiving some harsh words of "motivation" from his daughter Osada, Garoza is looking through wanted posters in an island's bounty office.
Garoza: Yeugh, this bounty book is thicker than all get-out. This sucks... On the other hand, Osada's wrath is way worse, so...
Garoza: Okie-doke. Let's see what kinda bounties we got on this island.
Garoza flips through the book of wanted posters before stopping on one in particular.
Garoza: Hm, here's a chap that uses a katana. Says he goes around collecting demon blades and magic swords...
Garoza: It's him!
Lumiel Holy Knight: Excuse me, sir. May I see that book of postings, please?
Garoza: Holy! Don't sneak up on a feller like that! Can't ya see I'm usin' it right now?
Lumiel Holy Knight: I understand that, sir, but one posting is no longer valid, and I would like to remove it.
Lumiel Holy Knight: That way you won't waste time considering a bounty that is impossible to fulfill.
Garoza: Tch, fine. Make it quick.
Lumiel Holy Knight: Right away, sir. I'll just borrow that book from you.
Lumiel Holy Knight: This is the one.
Garoza: What the... Now hold your bounty-pullin' horses!
Garoza: That's the poster I had my eyes on!
Garoza: The Lumiel Order didn't put that one out, as far as I know. How come you guys are taking it back?
Lumiel Holy Knight: You're right. An island victimized by these bandits published this particular wanted poster.
Lumiel Holy Knight: However, its reward has now been reserved for the individuals cooperating with us. Therefore all distributed wanted posters are being rescinded.
Garoza: Reserved? You mean the criminal's been caught? You gotta tell me where it went down!
The holy knight provides Garoza with the name of a nearby island before quickly leaving the office to continue his duties.
Garoza: Ain't that a kick in the teeth! He fits the bill pretty good too...
Garoza: What should I do now? Do I still tell Mister about this?
Garoza: Yeah, why not! I checked around like I was told to. Osada can't get mad at me for that. Time to go home.
Garoza: Excuse me! I'm done with the bounty book now! Thanks for lettin' me have a peek!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 4: Now I Walk in Mahapadma - Episode 4

His condition worsening with every moment he clutches the demon blade, Krelkulkil grows desperate to avenge his sister before his time comes. When Garoza returns with info on a demon blade-collecting bandit being detained on his home island, Krelkulkil departs with a devilish look in his eyes.

Krelkulkil: ...
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil!
Osada continues to nurse Krelkulkil's deteriorating condition while they wait for Garoza to return from the bounty office.
Krelkulkil: Dee...
Ade...
Osada: What are you trying to say, Bruv?
Krelkulkil: Demon... blade?
Osada: Huh?
Osada: Oh, erm... I didn't want it poking you while you slept, so I put it over here.
Krelkulkil gets up with great pain to retrieve the demon blade.
Osada: Bruv... This katana is what's making you sick, isn't it?
Osada: Don't you think it's time you stopped using it?
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: Without it...
Krelkulkil: I can't fight...
Osada: You're pushing yourself this far just to fight?
Krelkulkil: Yes...
Krelkulkil: Before the end... I will... my revenge...
Osada: By "end" you mean your end, Bruv?
Krelkulkil: Everything... I have to end everything.
Krelkulkil: I must—
Osada: Bruv!
Krelkulkil once again loses consciousness from touching the demon blade. Osada struggles to get him back onto the bed.
Garoza: Hello! I'm back!
Garoza: Whoa, Nelly! What is going on in here!
Osada: Pops, sometimes you get home at just the right time!
Osada: Help me get Krelkulkil back into bed!
Garoza: S-sure...
Krelkulkil: Tell me about the wanted poster.
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil, now isn't—
Krelkulkil: I said tell me!
Osada: ...
Garoza: See, at first I thought I had it all to myself.
Garoza: But then a Lumiel holy knight comes in and says the criminal's been captured, so the bounty's off.
Garoza: He said they're holding the chap at...
Crap, what's the name of the island again?
Garoza: Oh yeah!
Krelkulkil's eyes widen when he hears the name of the island.
Krelkulkil: Are you sure?
Garoza: Y-yeah, no mistake 'bout it. Still fresh in my ears!
Krelkulkil: ...!
Osada: Ah, Bruv! Please wait!
Krelkulkil ignores the girl's protest. He grabs the demon blade and leaves the room, sickly body and all.
Garoza: Uh, what's the name of the island got to do with anything?
Osada: Don't just stand there with your head in the clouds, Pops. Go after him!
Garoza: Eh... He's kinda freakin' me out... Can't we just wait till he comes back himself—
Osada: How insensitive can you get!
Osada: You've been mooching here and there all this time! Why don't you try earning a little of it for a change?
Garoza: Yeah, but—
Osada: No buts! Just get going!
Garoza: Okay, okay!
Meanwhile Krelkulkil trudges through a snow-covered road, unaware of the father-daughter pursuers following the tracks he's leaving.
Krelkulkil: (That island... That island is our home!)
Krelkulkil: (That's where it'll end...)
Krelkulkil: (This time for sure!)
Krelkulkil moves with a speed that defies his degenerating body. His eyes burn with hate.
Perhaps this singular drive is proof that his mind and body are being corrupted.
But in his mind, his unrelenting hatred is what leads him to the murderer.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 5: With Condolences to None - Episode 1

Having arrived at Sevilbarra's hometown, (Captain) and company pay a visit to Krelkulkil's estate, home to a family that has sealed demon blades for generations. The elder suggests they keep Corwell in confinement and invites the crew in to talk.

The crew brings the captured Corwell to Sevilbarra's island.
Sevilbarra leads the group to an estate in a town not too far from port. This will serve as a rendezvous point with the holy knights.
Sevilbarra: I don't want to get caught up in nostalgia, but I just can't help myself.
Sevilbarra: I thought more things might've changed, but the feeling around town's still the same.
Lyria: Is your house in this town too?
Sevilbarra: No, my house is located in a village on the far side of the mountains.
Sevilbarra: I'd often poke my head into this town for matters relating to the demon blade though.
Sevilbarra: Let's hurry along. There's no way to hide the fact that we're transporting a criminal, so we should move with purpose.
Sevilbarra: I can see it up ahead. There's the spellmaster's house where Krelkulkil used to live.
Lyria: Wow! What a grand mansion!
Sevilbarra: This is the family responsible for shaping the island as it is today. They're quite distinguished.
Elder: Sevilbarra!
Sevilbarra: Elder.
Elder: You came back safe and sound. The man you spoke of in the letter... That's him, isn't it?
Sevilbarra: Mm-hm.
Corwell: Uunh...
Elder: The demon blade's corruption is advanced. I see symptoms of the terminal stage. He can't even string together a cohesive sentence.
Lyria: Terminal stage...
Elder: I find this hard to put into words. Here is the man for whom we can never have enough hatred, yet to see him like this is just—
Sevilbarra: We're holding on to him for the purpose of handing over to the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights.
Elder: Ah, say no more. We'll keep him in a confinement cell.
Vyrn: You mean like a jail? Why would you guys ever need something like that?
Elder: Since the olden days, my family has passed down demon blade sealing arts while continuing to study the blades' properties.
Elder: We've become quite knowledgeable in how to exorcise demon blades from those who brought harm to others after being enraptured by the weapon.
Elder: Once we separate the blade from someone with minor corruption, they're kept in cells so that they may come back to their senses.
Vyrn: I see... Sounds kinda harsh, but I'll trust your judgment!
Sevilbarra: Elder, I wish to remove my family's demon blade from this man's grasp. Can it be done?
Elder: It's not rare for someone to cling to the demon blade to the bitter end, but we have methods for dealing with that.
Elder: But first let's get you all inside. Gabbing in the doorway will get us nowhere.
Lyria: Okay! Pardon our intrusion, Elder.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 5: With Condolences to None - Episode 2

The elder explains that they'll be able to pry the demon blade from Corwell's hands if they can just extract the X-factor sliver from it. Learning for the first time of the origin of demon blades, Sevilbarra laments that none of the tragedy would have happened had he given up the family treasure sooner.

The elder and Sevilbarra place Corwell in a confinement cell and then return to the room where the crew is waiting.
Elder: First let me thank you skyfarers for capturing this man and transporting him here.
Lyria: You don't have to bow to us like that, Elder! We were only trying to help out our friend Sevilbarra.
Lyria: Isn't that right, (Captain)?
(Captain) agrees with Lyria that the elder needn't humble himself to such a degree.
Elder: I owe you a great deal, skyfarer.
Elder: Ah, my apologies for being overdue with refreshments. Allow me to serve some tea.
The elder brings out tea and snacks. (Captain) questions the elder while enjoying his hospitality.
Elder: So you wish to know how the demon blade will be separated from that man?
Elder: The answer to that depends on the nature of the demon blade.
Elder: The manner in which a demon blade was forged can't be determined at present.
Elder: But all demon blades have a source of power, a variable origin known as the "X factor."
Lyria: X factor?
Elder: Yes. Despite many years of research, nothing can be confirmed as of yet.
Elder: What is certain is that each demon blade has one X factor within it. The X factor's power determines the blade's nature.
Vyrn: What do you mean by "the blade's nature"?
Elder: Each blade exhibits a different power once it starts consuming its wielder's body and soul.
Elder: Generally speaking, the wielder's strength is greatly amplified, forcing opponents to falter from the difference in might. Just suffering a cut can spread decay through the body.
Elder: It's a terrifying power any way you look at it. But still it probably wasn't enough to oppose the Astrals.
Sevilbarra: To give you an example, my family's demon blade grows sharper with each soul it takes.
Vyrn: Whoa... No wonder they're called demon blades...
Elder: My family tried to determine whether it's possible to remove the X factor in order to render demon blades powerless.
Elder: Such a method for excising the X factor has yet to be found...
Elder: But what can be extracted is the "X-factor sliver." The sliver is planted in the wielder, driving them mad and allowing them to be controlled.
Elder: If we can extract the sliver from Corwell, the incredible power bestowed by the X factor should be severed.
Sevilbarra: So each demon blade has an X factor within it, and the corruption experienced by the wielder comes from an implanted X-factor sliver...
Sevilbarra: Why haven't I heard of this before?
Elder: Your family used sword arts passed down from generation to generation to take up the blade.
Elder: Therefore the demon blade itself didn't become the sole source of power. Thank goodness for that foresight.
Sevilbarra: What would've been better is if my ancestors had confined its usage to their era—the era of the War.
Sevilbarra: Why wasn't my family willing to relinquish the demon blade and the sword arts after the War ended?
Sevilbarra: If only I'd decided to forgo this demon blade sooner, none of this would've happened...
Lyria: Sevilbarra...
(Captain) and Lyria huddle close to the Harvin, sharing in his pain.
Elder: Hindsight, Sevilbarra. When you're able to say what should've been done, then it's already too late.
Sevilbarra: Yes... It is as you say.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 5: With Condolences to None - Episode 3

The elder elaborates that those afflicted by a demon blade's influence do not return to their normal state even after the X-factor sliver is removed. This worries Sevilbarra greatly, reigniting his determination to find Krelkulkil.

Lyria: Excuse me, Elder. After you remove the sliver from Corwell...
Lyria: He'll lose the power given to him by the demon blade, right?
Elder: Yes, it will be the same as removing him from the influence of the demon blade itself.
Lyria: So even though Corwell is having trouble speaking right now...
Lyria: As long as the sliver is taken out, the old Corwell will come back too?
Elder: That's not the case unfortunately. Removing the sliver will indeed cut off the link to the demon blade.
Elder: But any aspect of the wielder that is already altered by the demon blade can't be restored.
Lyria: Then that means Corwell will always be like this...
Elder: Yes.
Lyria: I see...
Lyria: Um... Then...
Lyria: Krelkulkil will also...
Elder: Suffer the same fate. I don't know how many times he's unsheathed the blade since leaving this residence.
Elder: A sealed demon blade is one thing, but one that's ready to be swung at a moment's notice? Its corruption leaks through the scabbard over time.
Elder: Considering how much time has passed since he left, sadly I would wager he's too far gone...
Sevilbarra: ...!
Sevilbarra: (How could I let this happen?)
Sevilbarra: (I failed to protect Keralbarra, and all I could do was wallow about in my injured, unconscious state as Krelkulkil left...)
Sevilbarra: (Two deaths... Two deaths are on my hands! I might as well have murdered them myself!)
Vyrn: Wh-whoa, let's not jump to conclusions, you two!
Vyrn: You've got no proof Krelkulkil is too messed up by his demon blade to go back to normal!
Vyrn: Don't even start with those defeated looks on your faces! I think you're being way too down about the situation...
Sevilbarra: Vyrn...
Lyria: I think we can still make it! We just need to find Krelkulkil and bring him back here!
Lyria: Then we can pull the sliver out of him, and he should be fine...
Lyria: (Captain) thinks it'll work too!
Sevilbarra: (Captain)...
Sevilbarra: Yes, you're right. We must at least put up a search for Krelkulkil before thinking about giving up.
Sevilbarra: (But with that said, where could he possibly be?)

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 5: With Condolences to None - Episode 4

The crew stays on the estate in preparation for the removal of Corwell's X-factor sliver. Krelkulkil uses the cover of the night to sneak onto the estate while everyone is asleep.

With night soon falling, the elder has a room prepared for (Captain) and company.
Preparations need to be arranged before the sliver can be extracted from Corwell. The crew takes this time to rest for the night.
Vyrn: Let's all hit the sack! We've gotta be at our best to look for Krelkulkil tomorrow!
Lyria: Mm...
Vyrn: What's the holdup, Lyria? Get under those covers!
Lyria: Oh... Y-yeah! Tomorrow's a big day, so...
Lyria: Hmm...
Vyrn: Why do you keep hemming and hawing? Something on your mind?
Lyria: I can't really explain it...
Lyria: I'm sensing a lot of things in this mansion... Like there's a presence, or we're being watched...
Lyria: It tries to be quiet, but it's loud at the same time. Sometimes it's coming, sometimes it's going...
Vyrn: C-cut it out! No horror stories, thank you very much!
Lyria: Scary isn't how I would describe it, but it definitely feels unsettling. What could it be?
Vyrn: Ugh, feels like a ghost is gonna pop out—
Lyria: Eeek! A gh-ghost?
Vyrn: Did you notice how few people we saw around here when we were being shown to our room?
Lyria: Now that you mention it...
Lyria: Um, (Captain)? Could you push your futon next to mine?
Vyrn: I'm sharing your futon tonight, (Captain)! I can, right, buddy?
Lyria: Hey! That's sneaky, Vyrn!
(Captain) calms down the both of them, and they finally lie down to sleep.
Krelkulkil: ...
The mansion is still with the sounds of slumber. Standing outside in the night, a past resident of the mansion awaits his homecoming.
A pair of eyes devoid of nostalgia and affection looks over the house with quiet, seething hatred.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 6: And a Spring Forever Gone - Episode 1

Krelkulkil arrives at the estate with Osada and Garoza following close behind. The father-daughter pair, later joined by the crew, keeps the X-factor slivers unleashed by the elder at bay while Krelkulkil rushes to find Corwell.

Corwell is scheduled to have his X-factor sliver extracted so that the demon blade can be reclaimed by the crew.
While the crew rests for tomorrow's extraction, Krelkulkil stands outside the mansion's gate under the cover of darkness.
Krelkulkil: Osada. Garoza.
Garoza: Oh, crap!
Osada: H-how did you know we were here, Bruv?
Krelkulkil: You've looked after me for a long time. That's more than enough.
And with those words, Krelkulkil uses the demon blade's power to jump over the mansion's fence.
Garoza: Well, that's that. Let's go home, Osada.
Osada: What did you say? You're just going to let him go alone after all we've been through?
Garoza: Think about it, Osada. If we go after him, we'll definitely be trespassin'.
Osada: Geez, Louise! How pathetic can you get? There's not an ounce of courage in my old man!
Osada: Okay, go ahead. Run home, Pops! Me and Bruv will go on ahead!
Garoza: Wha... What! Think about what you're saying, Osada!
Garoza: Why go that far for someone you know nothin' about? Not to mention his sickness and how antisocial he is!
Osada: Because he's a good person!
Osada: Good people deserve to be treated with kindness!
Osada: I can't assume the worst in people all the time like you do, Pops!
Osada speaks her mind, then tries to push open a side door of the main gate.
Osada: Hrrnggh!
Garoza: Sigh...
Osada: Pops?
Garoza: Must've picked up that attitude at some point when you were younger...
I'll open the door, and we'll go together.
Osada: Yay, Pops!
Garoza: You and him are both like dogs who won't give up their bones...
Elder: The reflection in the water is reacting. This color must be Krelkulkil's demon blade.
Elder: If only you hadn't returned here...
In response to Krelkulkil's intrusion into the mansion, the elder unlocks a chest in the corner of the room.
Something thick and heavy spills from the chest and slithers out into the corridor leading to the garden.
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: Is that an X-factor sliver? Must be Grandfather's doing.
X-Factor Sliver: Oouugh...
Krelkulkil: You think you can stop me?
Krelkulkil: What a splendid banquet, Grandfather.
Krelkulkil: But slivers are no match for the true power that lies within a demon blade!
X-Factor Sliver: Bwooh...
Krelkulkil: ...!
Osada: G-get away from here, you nasties! Stay out of Bruv's way!
Garoza: Silly girl! What's a rock gonna do against monsters like that!
Osada: Go, Bruv! We'll handle things here!
Garoza: Excuuuse me? You're asking for Pops to do the impossible! I can't even pretend to fight! No way, no how!
Krelkulkil: ...!
Osada: It's fine! Just go!
Krelkulkil: I owe you one!
Garoza: Noooo! Mister Krelkulkil, don't leave me!
X-Factor Sliver: Oooo...
Osada: Hey, you! We're over here!
Vyrn: You guys hear that? Something's goin' down!
Sevilbarra: It came from over here!
Garoza: Gasp! Someone's coming!
Please save us, whoever you are!
X-Factor Sliver: Oooo...
Vyrn: Whoa! What kinda monster is that? Hey, you two all right over there?
Garoza: Do I look okay? Step into a garden, and what do ya get? A freakin' monster! Come save our bacon!
X-Factor Sliver: Ooooo!
Osada: Aaah!
Vyrn: Watch out!

Continue 1
(Captain) rushes in front of Osada, takes the monster's charge, and deflects its attack.
Osada: Th-thank you!
Lyria: Quick! Get into the house!
Garoza: G-gotcha!
X-Factor Sliver: Ouugh... Ooo!
Sevilbarra: Those rampaging monsters are going to end up destroying the estate!
Sevilbarra: We must engage and drive them away, (Captain)!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 6: And a Spring Forever Gone - Episode 2

After cutting down Corwell and prying the demon blade from his hands, Krelkulkil realizes that the elder had been pining for his and Keralbarra's offspring, a mix that would further advance demon blade research. Krelkulkil regrets ever getting close to Keralbarra, feeling indirectly responsible for her death. He glares at the elder, not intent on being sealed away.

Corwell: ...
Krelkulkil: Like an udumbara flower that's come into bloom...
Krelkulkil: You're finally in my sights!
Corwell: ...
Krelkulkil: Here you are, drunk off the power of the demon blade you so coveted, drowning in unwaking stupor.
Krelkulkil: What a travesty.
Krelkulkil: The blood you bathed in. Imbibed. You must have found it so enjoyable!
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra exists inside the blade!
Krelkulkil: Wretched cur!
Corwell: Aaa...
Krelkulkil: Why won't you give me the satisfaction!
Krelkulkil: For Keralbarra... Keralbarra is...
Corwell: Uuu..
Krelkulkil: Aaaaargh!
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: So your blood is red after all...
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil goes to pick up the demon blade still grasped in Corwell's cold, dead hands.
Krelkulkil: ...!
Elder: Have you finished it, Krelkulkil?
Krelkulkil: Grandfather.
Elder: Of all of my grandchildren, you were far and away the most outstanding.
Elder: Keralbarra was also of wonderful disposition. You two made a lovely couple.
Elder: What a tragedy it was. Truly tragic.
Krelkulkil: Snort... Haha...
Krelkulkil: Tragic, you say? Why, yes, Grandfather.
Krelkulkil: I knew what you wanted. I knew all about your vision for your future great-grandchildren...
Elder: Watch your tongue, Krelkulkil.
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra's lineage possesses an extremely high tolerance against the demon blade's corruption.
Krelkulkil: It's all because her family played the role of passing down the demon blade and sword arts through the generations.
Krelkulkil: I knew you sought to mix their blood with ours. Thus research into the demon blades could advance.
Krelkulkil: I knew everything about it...
Krelkulkil: Then why did I go along with it!
Krelkulkil: Because I wanted to be with her! I wanted to bring her happiness!
Krelkulkil: To make her laugh! To always have her by my side!
Krelkulkil: But this is the result! It was me! I killed Keralbarra!
Elder: Krelkulkil...
Krelkulkil: You take me for a fool with your act, Grandfather? I can read you like a book. Did you set up your seals properly?
Krelkulkil: Well, why don't you just try it and see? You may have got away with one blade, but now I have two!
Krelkulkil: I'll slice you up real good, Grandfather, before you can even think about sealing the second blade!
Krelkulkil: You are not going to seal me away!

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 6: And a Spring Forever Gone - Episode 3

The crew learns from Osada and Garoza that Krelkulkil has also come to the estate, and rush to the confinement cell. The sight of the elder and a slain Corwell awaits them, with Krelkulkil nowhere to be seen. They leave the estate to chase after him.

Krelkulkil is confronting his grandfather in the confinement cells.
Meanwhile in the garden, (Captain) and company take out all of the monsters.
Vyrn: Phew. Looks like we got rid of the whole group!
Lyria: They all swarmed into the garden out of nowhere. I hope everyone in the house is all right.
Vyrn: Hey, big guy, you live here, right? Where was the elder's room again? We gotta let him know what happened.
Garoza: O-oh... Elder's room... Yeah, it's, um...
Sevilbarra: Enough of this farce. You two aren't residents of this estate, are you?
Garoza: Erk! How did you—
Sevilbarra: I knew it. There are a few Draphs that come and go, but the majority are Harvins.
Sevilbarra: Now be good and fess up.
Garoza: Oof...
Osada: The cat's out of the bag...
Lyria: If you don't live here, then don't tell me you're thieves!
Garoza: No! No, no! This is a misunderstanding!
Vyrn: So why are you two out here in the middle of the night?
Garoza: Well, you see—
Osada: We came to help Bruv Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: He's here at the estate?
Osada: Yes! He got wind that his nemesis was here somewhere.
Osada: We came to help make his revenge come true!
Sevilbarra: ...!
Lyria: Sevilbarra!
Sevilbarra makes a break for the confinement cells while everyone else chases after him.
Elder: Is that you, Sevilbarra?
Sevilbarra: ...!
The Harvin samurai stares in shock at the fallen bodies in the cell.
Elder: If you're looking for Krelkulkil, he's gone. And he took your family's demon blade with him.
Sevilbarra: Our demon blade?
It takes a second for the elder's words to register. Sevilbarra realizes that Corwell no longer wields a weapon.
Sevilbarra: Why's it always like this!
Sevilbarra: How do I keep letting this happen before my very eyes! And now he has two blades!
Elder: One katana, two katanas—what does it matter? That boy is too far gone, Sevilbarra.
Sevilbarra: I won't have it!
(Captain) prevents Sevilbarra from getting physical with the senior.
Sevilbarra: (Captain)...
Sevilbarra: Yeah, I hear what you're saying.
Sevilbarra: What's done is done. A war of words won't change anything. Krelkulkil must be captured!
Vyrn: I don't think he could've gotten very far! Let's hurry!
Osada: Wait for us!
The party, with two newcomers in tow, rush into the night to look for Krelkulkil.

Reflections for a White Clover - Chapter 6: And a Spring Forever Gone - Episode 4

Krelkulkil's life force continues to be drained as he runs through the forest. Sevilbarra catches up and vows to destroy his demon blade, but Krelkulkil has no intention of letting go. The rest of the crew soon arrives and assists Sevilbarra.

Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: Ugh...
The fleeing Harvin trips over a tree root buried under the snow and takes a tumble in the dark forest.
He tries to prop himself up using the katana he had violently ripped from Corwell, but his strength betrays him, and he sinks back into the snow.
Krelkulkil: Not yet...
Krelkulkil: I can still...
Krelkulkil: ...
Krelkulkil: Hm. Good. That should do.
Krelkulkil: It's a little crooked, though you can't fault me for that considering how long it's been since I last did this.
Keralbarra: ...
Krelkulkil: Say, Keralbarra, do you know the symbolism behind white clovers?
Krelkulkil: There are a couple of concepts, but I know of one in particular.
Krelkulkil: It's togetherness.
Krelkulkil: So I want you to have this.
Krelkulkil places a crown of clovers onto Keralbarra's head.
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra.
Krelkulkil: Will you marry me?
Keralbarra: ...
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra?
Krelkulkil: Huh? Why...
Krelkulkil: Why can't I remember your face?
Krelkulkil: ...!
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra! Keralbarra! Keralbarra!
Krelkulkil: I promised to save you, promised to make you happy, promised to make you smile, promises, promises, promises!
Krelkulkil: Yaaagh!
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil!
Krelkulkil: Raaagh!
Sevilbarra: Hold it together, Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: You're going to die if you don't listen to me! Throw away the demon blade! Quickly!
Krelkulkil: Never! I'll never relinquish it! Especially not now!
Sevilbarra: You're above the demon blade!
Sevilbarra: Get rid of it! I will destroy it!
Sevilbarra: Then this will all be over!
Krelkulkil: There is no end!
Sevilbarra: Ergh!
Vyrn: (Captain)! I heard Straw Hat Guy's voice coming from over there!
Lyria: Sevilbarra! Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: (Captain)! Vyrn! Lyria!
Lyria: Sevilbarra!
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: I have to get the demon blade away from him! Lend me your aid, (Captain)!
Vyrn: We got your back! Let's do this, (Captain)!
Krelkulkil: Over my. Dead. Bodyyy!

Reflections for a White Clover - Ending

Sevilbarra subdues Krelkulkil and knocks the demon blade out of his hands. The latter pleads for mercy, contesting that Keralbarra's soul is trapped within the blade and might still be saved. Sevilbarra loses composure for a moment, giving Krelkulkil the chance to snatch the demon blade back and make off. Sevilbarra is now more determined than ever to track down his friend to prevent any further tragedy.

Sevilbarra: Teyaah!
Krelkulkil: Gah!
Sevilbarra's all-out blow sends the demon blade flying from Krelkulkil's hand. The blade sticks out from a snowbank a few paces away.
Sevilbarra: I'm putting an end to this.
Krelkulkil: You can't, Sevilbarra!
Sevilbarra goes to pull the blade from the snow, but Krelkulkil clings to the samurai to stop him.
Sevilbarra: Let go of me, Krelkulkil! You're attached to the blade because you're under its spell!
Sevilbarra: Destroying every trace of it is for the best!
Krelkulkil: That's not it!
Sevilbarra: Stop being stubborn!
Krelkulkil: Keralbarra exists inside the blade!
Sevilbarra: Wha... What did you say?
Krelkulkil: You remember what that blade's power is, don't you? The more souls it takes, the sharper it becomes!
Sevilbarra: Yes, but that's just its X factor!
Krelkulkil: No! That's not all it is!
Krelkulkil: The grudge of each soul taken by the blade is added to its edge!
Sevilbarra: Which makes it dangerous!
Sevilbarra: Now is the time to destroy it for good! It's brought enough suffering to Keralbarra and countless others!
Krelkulkil: If we use the sliver extracting technique, we can pull Keralbarra's soul from the demon blade!
Krelkulkil: Think about it, Sevilbarra! We can save her!
Sevilbarra: ...!
Krelkulkil: You can't stop me!
Sevilbarra drops his guard for just an instant. That's all Krelkulkil needs to push the other Harvin away, grab the demon blade, and take off running.
Krelkulkil: ...!
Osada: Bruv Krelkulkil!
Osada: Bruv... Wait...
Garoza: Osada...
Sevilbarra: Damn it!
Sevilbarra: How could I let myself be taken in like that?
Lyria: Sevilbarra...
Sevilbarra: Demon blades sow misery throughout the skies. They're a curse that affects wielders and victims alike!
Sevilbarra: Why didn't I notice it sooner?
Sevilbarra: Why didn't I destroy it when I had the chance? If only I had—
Lyria: Sevilbarra!
Lyria: If Krelkulkil's right, then your sister and others are still suffering inside the demon blade!
Lyria: There are souls that need saving! Like Keralbarra and Krelkulkil!
Sevilbarra: Lyria...
Sevilbarra sinks to his knees from emotional stress. (Captain) offers him a supportive hand.
Sevilbarra: (Captain)...
Sevilbarra: That's right. I have a mission to accomplish. Now is not the time to break down and cry.
Sevilbarra: The demon blade mustn't be allowed to spread more tragedy!
Everyone gives a firm nod, and they begin to search for Krelkulkil who has disappeared.
But he's nowhere to be found, as if swallowed up by the snow.
(Captain) and company inform the elder of what came to pass and prepare to depart for the next island to look for Krelkulkil.
Lyria: If we find anything about Krelkulkil, we'll send you a letter, Osada.
Osada: Thank you. Pops and I will keep looking on our end.
Garoza: Huh? Me too?
Osada: Problem, Pops?
Garoza: It was just a joke, Osada! You don't need to give me the stink eye, geez!
After leaving Garoza and Osada, the crew returns to the airship and takes to the skies.
A few days later the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights arrives at the elder's estate to retrieve Corwell's body.
Sevastien: I'm afraid what I'm about to say may not mean much at this point.
Sevastien: Had the punishment for breaking the holy knights' austere policies not been so inflexible, perhaps this boy wouldn't have strayed from the path of righteousness.
Sevastien: Were that the case, I dare say the victims would still be alive today.
Sevastien: As a member of the order, it is one of my deepest regrets.
Elder: It's a waste of time crying over "what-ifs." The fact is it happened the way it did.
Sevastien: Right you are. But what stands out to me is the aftermath of this all.
Sevastien: Corwell's collection of demon blades and magic swords followed his ship to the bottom of the sky.
Sevastien: The only solace I can take from the result of this incident is that those weapons won't be able to claim any new victims.
Elder: I pray you are right on that matter.
Sevastien offers final words of thanks. The holy knights lift Corwell's coffin and leave the estate.
Elder: They fell to the bottom of the sky... What a waste. What a research boon they would have been, or dare I say...
Elder: Bah, it doesn't matter anymore.
Sevilbarra: Keralbarra.
Sevilbarra: It's a good thing the clovers are still in bloom. We need them as materials.
Sevilbarra: Good lord, the ceremony is tomorrow and yet your luggage continues to grow heavier by the hour.
Keralbarra: Just when I thought I was done, I went to tidy up the storehouse, and so many memories came flooding back.
Sevilbarra: Yeah, there's quite a bit of nostalgia tucked away in there. Like the yukata Mother made for you when you were younger.
Sevilbarra: It'd look lovely on my future niece.
Keralbarra: Mm-hm. I'll make sure I pass it down to her.
Sevilbarra: Now that you and the storehouse are taken care of, your brother here can retire in peace!
Keralbarra: Brother...
Sevilbarra: Yes?
Keralbarra: Once I'm wed, I worry that there'll be no one to nag you.
Keralbarra: Do you or your disciples know how to cook? Can you do your own laundry? Do you know how to use dried seaweed? And you can't put off cleaning the dojo—
Sevilbarra: Hahaha! On the contrary it's going to be fun not having a fusspot around.
Sevilbarra: Krelkulkil's in for the ride of his life. He's a nice guy, which is why I think he'll have his work cut out for him.
Keralbarra: Come on, Brother. Why are you always so flippant!
Sevilbarra: What I'm trying to say is you don't have to worry about me.
Keralbarra: But...
Sevilbarra: Keralbarra. Our dear mother once said she named you after white clovers.
Keralbarra: Yeah.
Sevilbarra: Clovers are a symbol of good fortune.
Sevilbarra: So go grab that good fortune you deserve as your name implies. That's the best I have to offer as your older brother.
Keralbarra: Thank you!
Sevilbarra: Good fortune, huh?
Sevilbarra: ...
Sevilbarra: Hey, Keralbarra. Did you know there's another meaning behind white clovers?
Sevilbarra: It's quite different from fortune. And that would be...
Sevilbarra: Revenge.
A few words offered to a dearly departed sister are delivered on the updrafts stirred by the Grandcypher as it flies through the sky.
Sullen snow, innocent and pure, falls from sorrowful clouds of winter, paving the way to the future in white.
