Armor and Soul

The Black Knight battles a vortex dragon and strikes it to the ground. Believing her foe defeated, she turns away, but Orchis notices the dragon preparing one last strike and attempts to protect the knight. Afterward, the Black Knight harshly scolds Orchis for her recklessness, but still helps the doll gently up when she trips. The knight then internally berates herself, swearing to control her emotions better in order to bring back the original Orchis.

Black Knight: Haaah!

Vortex Dragon: Grrooaar!

The Black Knight swings her blade, determined to cut down anything that stands in the way of her ultimate goal: to revive Orchis no matter the cost.

She strikes at the primal beast before her without hesitation.

The fighting is fierce, but the outcome has been clear from the beginning.

Black Knight: You've breathed your last.

Vortex Dragon: Grooar...

Black Knight: Hmph, I expected more of a fight.

Orchis: Apollo. Are you okay?

Black Knight: Of course. Did you think something that weak—

Vortex Dragon: Groooaaar!

The primal beast leaps up from behind the Black Knight and throws its remaining strength into one last charge.

Orchis: Apollo!

Orchis immediately attempts to shield the Black Knight from the underhanded attack.

But the Black Knight turns around in an instant and plunges her sword into the primal beast's chest.

Black Knight: That's enough!

Vortex Dragon: Groaar... Grr...

Black Knight: What a persistent one.
Orchis?

Orchis: I'm okay.

Orchis: ...

Black Knight: There doesn't seem to be any injuries on you at least.

Orchis: Yeah. Thank you. But I can do more if—

Black Knight: Were you trying to cover me when it attacked?

Orchis: Um... Well...

Sensing the undercurrent of irritation in the Black Knight's voice, Orchis meekly casts her eyes downward.

Black Knight: How many times have I told you not to get ahead of yourself?

Black Knight: Just listen to what I tell you to do.

Black Knight: Because if you don't and I lose you, I'll never get the true Orchis back.

Black Knight: Your actions and judgments will only jeopardize everything. Know your place.

Orchis: I'm... sorry...

Orchis turns away with her head bowed.

Black Knight: We have no more business here. Back to the ship.

Orchis: Wait, Apollo.

Orchis: Ah!

Orchis trips and falls to the hard ground as she tries to catch up.

Black Knight: ...

The Black Knight turns on her heels, kneels down, and extends a silent hand to her fallen companion.

Orchis: I'm... sorry...

Black Knight: ...
Tell me.

Orchis: Huh?

Black Knight: Tell me when you're tired. It's more troublesome if you don't and end up falling.

Orchis: ...

Orchis: Okay. Thank you, Apollo.

Black Knight: There's nothing to thank me for. Now let's go.

In contrast to her cold words, the knight helps Orchis to her feet and resumes her previous course.

Black Knight: ...

Black Knight: (She's not the Orchis I know. She's nothing more than a doll. There's no need to care for her. To know her.)

Black Knight: (Emotion is unnecessary. I won't be swayed. My heart is steeled, and no obstacle will stand in my way.)

Black Knight: (This is what I signed up for the day I swore that I would bring Orchis back no matter the cost.)

Black Knight: (Even if it means robbing someone else of their loved ones or throwing away who I am...)

Black Knight: (I won't be stopped.)

The Black Knight casts away emotion as she continues to walk a bitter, lonely path for the sake of one desperate wish.

Only burning conviction remains in the confines of her black armor. Where it will lead her and Orchis, only time will tell.
