The Old Soldier's Meddling
To fix up the broken Grandcypher, the company was forced to stop. (Captain) and company enjoy a brief moment of peace, but Eugen then forced them to venture into the forest.
(Captain) and company were forced to stop to fix the malfunctioning Grandcypher.
In the meanwhile, (Captain) and company were enjoying a peaceful moment without any fighting.
Lyria: Mmm! The weather is so nice today!
Katalina: Haha. Yes, it is... Perhaps we should go for a walk.
Rackam: I can’t even fix it without the right parts...
Rackam: According to Siero, it’ll take 2 or 3 days for it to arrive. I think I’ll go take a nap...
Vyrn: Yawn! That sounds like a great idea. With the weather so nice, I’m getting sleepy, too.
Io: Geez... What’s with everyone...? Hey, lizard. I want to sleep too, so be my pillow.
Vyrn: Hmm? Oh, it’s fine! (Captain), you should take it easy, too.
Io: W-What if... What if (Captain) said that you couldn’t sleep alone... I-I don’t mind sleeping next to you...
Eugen: Hey, you guys... You got a minute?
Katalina: Hmm? What's the matter, Eugen? Are you planning on going somewhere, too?
Eugen: Yeah. I’m heading to the forest. Yeah, so that’s why you guys are coming with me.
Vyrn: What?! B-But my nap...
Eugen: Of course! You want to leave an old man by himself in the forest?
Eugen: Here! Get ready and we’re moving!
The Old Soldier's Meddling: Scene 2
Eugen was after the wine made by the forest-dwelling Erune, said to be the best in Phantagrande. He wanted to enjoy the best wine there is since they’ve come this far. As the party heads to the Erune village, monsters appear before them.
Vyrn: Wine made by the Erune?! I was brought out here for this?!
Eugen: Come on... The wine made by the Erune of this forest is said to be super rare.
Eugen: There’s no way I don’t try it out after coming this far.
Katalina: You’re right. The wine made by the Erune is said to be the best in Phantagrande.
Rackam: Well, we’re here anyway. Let’s have a drink before going back to the ship.
Vyrn: Still... I want to go to sleep, so can you carry me there, (Captain)? Snooze...
Lyria: Don’t sleep, Vyrn! The monsters are coming!
The Old Soldier's Meddling: Scene 3
Eugen and the others continue to anticipate the taste of the wine. When they were close to the Erune village, monsters attacked.
Vyrn: Hah! H-Huh?! Where’s my mountain of apples...?
Eugen: Hey, don’t sleep. There are monsters in this forest.
Katalina: We can’t get it unless we go this deep into the forest...? It must be that good of a wine.
Eugen: Yeah... But I’m sure it’ll be worth coming here.
Lyria: That really interests me. I’m starting to look really forward to it!
Eugen: Uh oh. You don’t get any, little lady. Wine is not a drink for kids.
Eugen: But don't worry about it. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like.
Eugen: Look. There’s the Erune village. It’s only a little more!
The Old Soldier's Meddling: Scene 4
In the end, he couldn’t drink the wine he wanted, but Eugen was satisfied anyway. He said that he brought everyone to the Erune village deep in the mountains because everyone was getting lazy. Eugen laughed grandly as he gulped down his cup.
Vyrn: What?! You don’t have any?! We came all the way here...
Erune Man: I’m sorry... During this season, we’re only making the preparations so we don’t have any that’s ready to drink.
Lyria: Is that so...? What should we do?
Eugen: We got no choice then... Here, (Captain)! Let’s go back!
Vyrn: Ugh... Why is Eugen so cheerful?
Lyria: I don’t know... But we should keep up!
Eugen: Wow! This is good! Now that’s what I call wine!
Vyrn: Hey, Eugen! What’s the meaning of this?!
Eugen: What? I told you so! Wine isn’t for kids.
Eugen: The kiddy lizard should just drink milk.
Vyrn: That’s not it! And I keep telling you I’m not a lizard!
Vyrn: We could drink the wine at the Knickknack Shack! We didn’t have to go all the way into the mountains!
Vyrn: Eugen... You knew about this, didn’t you?
Eugen: Of course! Besides, the Erune know how to brew wine, but they leave the distribution and sales completely to others.
Vyrn: Then why did you take us to the mountains?
Eugen: That’s because you all have been getting lazy recently.
Eugen: So I thought it’d be nice to get you to train by fighting some monsters. It was good exercise, wasn’t it?
Vyrn: Good exercise... Then you should have just told us!
Eugen: Hahahaha! If I said it ahead of time, it wouldn’t be any fun!
Eugen: Listen. Battles can happen at any time.
Eugen: That’s why ambushes are ideal for training.
Katalina: Eugen does have a point.
Eugen: If you people ever get lazy again, I’ll put you through training again! So you better not let your guard down!
After laughing it off, the old soldier gulps down his drink.
The number of training plans the old soldier comes up with provide just the right amount of stimulation for (Captain).
