A Gentle Soul

(Captain) and company had come to a town in hopes of some respite. There, they found that the traveling priest Hazen had won over the residents. After learning the reason behind (Captain)’s journey, Hazen offered to support (Captain) and company from the shadows as they continued their challenging journey, and they accepted.

Hazen is a crew member

During his travels with (Captain), Hazen felt that there were very few good instructors in the world.
Hazen decided that he would help people in jeopardy, and travel as a member of the Order so that he could enlighten others.
Vyrn: Hey, (Captain). Let’s take a break here!
Hazen not in crew

On their long journey, (Captain) and company stopped by an island in hopes of some respite.
They visited the island’s largest city to do some sightseeing.
Vyrn: Hm? Oh? Look at that crowd...
Vyrn was looking over at the plaza, where tons of people had gathered.
At the center of the crowd was a large man with a jovial smile.
Townswoman: Thank you. Once again, we owe it all to you, Hazen!
Hazen: No, it wasn’t me. All I did was encourage you.
Hazen: You accomplished it all on your own. There’s no need to thank me.
Child 1: Hey! Hey! Guess what, Mr. Hazen! My teacher said something nice about me today!
Hazen: Haha! Oh, I see! You’re very smart, aren’t you?
Child 2: Hey! Let’s play, Mr. Hazen!
Child 1: Hey! That’s no fair! I wanna play too!
Hazen: Hahaha! All right, all right. Why don’t we all play together?
Vyrn: Oh? That priest guy is SUPER popular!
Lyria: Yes! It’s incredible just how much the townspeople trust in him!
Hazen: Hmm? I haven’t seen you lot before, have I? Are you tourists, perhaps?
Hazen: I’m Hazen, a priest. I’m on a journey to spread the teachings of the God of Wind.
Hazen: Nice to meet you.
Hazen introduced himself amiably, and our heroes did the same in return.
Vyrn: Hey, this Hazen guy is crazy popular, huh?
Townswoman: Yes, of course! Hazen has saved so many of us...!
Hazen: Hey now, stop that. All I’ve done is give people the encouragement they need to set them on the paths they’re meant to take.
Townswoman: But Hazen... Your very presence here has breathed new life into our town.
Townswoman: Anyway... Priest Hazen is every bit as wonderful as the rumors say!
Hazen: Hey now... Haha... Aw, shucks...
Vyrn: This is incredible... Hazen is practically a celebrity.
Hazen: I spend my days traveling the world, touching the lives of so many people... Where does the time go?
Vyrn: Ah, I see.
Vyrn: I didn’t know priests go on journeys. I assumed you all locked yourselves up in temples or whatever!
Hazen: Hmm... Who can say? Maybe we do, hmm?
Vyrn: What the...c’mon! You ARE a priest, aren’t you? Why can’t you give me a definite answer?!
Hazen: Hahaha! Aww, don’t be mad. I certainly serve a god and spread its teachings, but... Originally, I served in the--
Child 1: Hey Mr. Hazen! Are you done talking yeeet?
Child 2: Hehe. Let’s play already!
Hazen: Hold on, hold on! I promise, I’ll play with you later. Can you wait until then?
Child 2: Hmmm... Okay! I’ll wait!
Hazen: Good, good. You’re a good kid.
Child 1: Hahaha! Well, I’ll be at the park, Dad!
Lyria: Wha?!
Child 1: Oh no! Ummm... I- I messed up again... Sorry, Mr. Hazen.
Vyrn: Come on! For a second there I thought that was your child, Hazen...
Hazen: Ahaha! Even I forget that I’m not really their father sometimes!
Vyrn: ...Wait, what?! Seriously?!
Vyrn: Good grief... He seems like he’s hiding something...
Lyria: ...
Vyrn: Mmm? What's wrong, Lyria?
Lyria: Oh, um... I was just thinking that Mr. Hazen really does seem fatherly...
Hazen: ...Lyria...
Hazen smiled jovially and patted Lyria on the head.
Hazen: If you ever need a helping hand, come see me any time.
Hazen: I’ll always be on your side.
Lyria: ...! Thanks, Dad!
Lyria: Whoa! It just slipped out... Ehehe...
Hazen: Hahaha! I don’t mind.
Hazen: I must say... You’re very brave, (Captain).
Hazen: Leading an Order at your age... I imagine that’s not something you agree to on a whim. What led to a decision like that?
Hazen looked concerned, so (Captain) gave him a simple rundown of the journey so far.
Hazen: Oho... Children like yourselves, braving such a dangerous journey alone...
Vyrn: Heheh! Who knows how many times we’ve escaped from the jaws of death...
Hazen: Hey now. That’s nothing to be proud of.
Vyrn: What? Wh- why not? What’s the harm in it?
Hazen: Children shouldn’t be flirting with death. What you think is brave, might actually just be reckless. So you must never let your guard down.
Hazen: There’s nothing wrong with having pride, but... Parading it around like that is, at best, a sign of being conceited.
Vyrn: Tch! I guess you’re right, but...
Hazen: But... you’ve all worked very hard to get this far. You truly have.
With a jovial smile, Hazen gently patted both (Captain) and Vyrn on the head.
Vyrn: Hehe! You know, you really are like a dad, Hazen!
Hazen: Speaking of fathers... You started your journey after receiving a letter from your father, right?
(Captain) nodded yes, and began describing to Hazen in detail the letter he received from his father.
Hazen: Hmm... Ah, I see. He put you through trials in order to raise a bolder child.
Hazen: Whatever the case, your father certainly seems to have much confidence in you.
Hazen: But that doesn’t mean that anything has been forgiven. He is putting his child in danger as ever.
Hazen: Hm...
Hazen: Are you truly ready to make it to Estalucia?
With evident determination, (Captain) nodded in agreement with Hazen.
Hazen: Hmmm. Is that so... Then I will help you out.
Lyria: Truly?!
Vyrn: But Hazen... Will it be okay for you to travel?
Hazen: I have traveled around to many different countries. I'm taking a break right now.
Hazen: And it would be good to help those trouble while traveling through the skies with you all.
Hazen: And there is something I would like to say to your father.
Hazen: At any rate. I’m counting on you!
  1. All right!
  2. Eh...

Choose: All right!
Hazen: I’ve got your back!
Vyrn: That is reassuring!

Vyrn: Hey! What do you mean by that?!
Vyrn: What? Hazen is scary when he’s angry?
Vyrn: So that’s what’s troubling you about having Hazen as a friend?
(Captain) nodded in agreement to what Vyrn was saying.
Vyrn: Whahaha! What a childish reason!
Lyria: Hey! Someone that kindly isn’t scary!
Hazen: Ahaha! For sure, I get kind of scary when I’m angry! I put everything I’ve got into beatdowns!
Hazen: And if you are good kids, I won’t beat you up or anything, so don’t fear me.
Lyria: Yes! Vyrn, (Captain), and myself are good kids, so we’ll be all right!
Hazen: Ahaha! Sounds like you’re going to be safe from me! So don’t you worry!

Vyrn: Then let’s hurry back to the airship!
Hazen: Can you wait just a little while longer?
Hazen: You promised to play with the children, did you. Let’s head out after you’re done with that.
Hazen: Yes. Why don’t you go play with them, too?
Lyria: Yes! If it’s okay with all of this, for sure!
The party agreed, and together with Hazen played with the children until evening.
Afterwards, while listening to the laments of the townsfolk he was leaving, Hazen set off with the party on their journey to the sky.

Hazen: Hrm? That voice... Oh! Lyria! (Captain)! What’s more... Vyrn!
With a jovial smile, Hazen waved his hand.
In response to this, (Captain) walked close to him.
Hazen: It’s been a long time, hasn’t it... I’m happy to be able to get back together with you.
Lyria: Yes! Me too! I can’t believe I’m with you again...
Vyrn: Yeah! Hey, you are crazy popular, aren’t you Hazen?

Lyria: ...
Vyrn: Mmm? What's wrong, Lyria?
Lyria: Oh, um... I was just thinking that Mr. Hazen really does seem fatherly...

Hazen: Nevertheless, (Captain). You have grown strong while we were apart. You look gallant.

Hazen: And if you are good kids, I won’t beat you up or anything.
