Realizing Her Potential

Word of Yggdrasil's rescue—and subsequent makeover—at La Coiffe's hands spreads among the female members of the crew. Days later, Chloe and Kolulu ask the organic stylist to give them a makeover too.

Days after the incident with Yggdrasil, the crew stops by an island to resupply.
Seeing that there is some time before the Grandcypher takes off, La Coiffe takes a stroll in the nearby forest to check for any injured plants.
La Coiffe: Poisonous trees here too? Where'd the poison even come from?
La Coiffe: Is it a means of self-defense? Because people keep cutting them down?
La Coiffe: If we could all just be more loving of nature, it wouldn't come to this...
Under the moonlight, La Coiffe speaks with some of the trees while she goes about trimming.
La Coiffe: You could use a bit of a retouch over here. I might as well add some gradation too. It'll make you more pleasing to the eye.
La Coiffe applies her makeup technique to the discolored parts of various foliage, all while thinking back to Yggdrasil's beaming face from the other day.
Yggdrasil: ...!
Lyria: Wow! You look beautiful, Yggdrasil!
La Coiffe: It really made my day as an organic stylist to see her so happy!
La Coiffe: Not to mention Lyria seemed interested in makeup too.
La Coiffe: But that aside...
A slight grin on her face, La Coiffe recalls an earlier conversation with Rosetta.
Rosetta: Haha, did you know you're the talk of all the ladies in the crew?
Rosetta: They want to ask you for a cute makeover.
La Coiffe: I'd be more than glad to make their dream come true if I could.
La Coiffe: But... I'm not so sure I'm the right person for the job.
La Coiffe: It worked with Yggdrasil because she has so much in common with plants.
La Coiffe: Hm... If I could just somehow get a creative jolt like I did with her...
La Coiffe has only plied her trade on plants up until recently.
It was mere days ago that she learned her treatments work even on primal beasts. Perhaps she can try it on fellow crew members next.
La Coiffe: Hm, it feels like I'm losing sight of what's important.
La Coiffe: Ahh! This might be too much for my brain to think about!
La Coiffe contemplates to herself while gazing at the rosebuds by her feet.
The next day, La Coiffe is performing maintenance on her massive pair of scissors.
Chloe and Kolulu, having heard rumors of what the organic stylist is capable of, drop by for a visit.
Chloe: Morning, Coiffie! We, like, totally need to talk! I've got a favor to ask!
༼ つ ◕ω◕ ༽つ
La Coiffe: Morning! What's with the giant grin on your face?
Chloe: So I heard Yggy is totes adorbz now thanks to you! Think you can work your magic on me?
Chloe: Oh, and on Kolulu too, 'kay?
ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Kolulu: Golly... I'll be happy if I can just see Chloe transform into an even more wonderful lady!
Chloe: Mm-hm. Kolulu gets real hype when it comes to ladies doing the lady thing.
La Coiffe: Teehee, it's nice to be interested in fashion.
La Coiffe: But truth be told, I've never worked on a person before as an organic stylist...
Chloe: Word? lol

You totally nailed it with Yggy though. Like, I'm sure you're up to the challenge.

(/・ω・)/
La Coiffe: (I really wish I could help, but...)
La Coiffe: ...!
Chloe's gleaming smile leads to an epiphany for La Coiffe.
La Coiffe: (I just got an idea... like with Yggdrasil!)
La Coiffe: (I might be able to change things up and give her a new look!)
With a new vision of success in mind, the hesitation in La Coiffe's heart turns to determination.
La Coiffe: All right! I'm ready to do this!
Chloe: Woo-hoo! In Coiffie we trust!
(∩´∀`)∩
La Coiffe: Okie-dokie!
Spewing out more beauty jargon, La Coiffe lifts her giant scissors and begins to work on Chloe.

Realizing Her Potential: Scene 2

After a brilliant makeover completed on both Chloe and Kolulu, Veight happens to walk by lugging shopping bags. Chloe spots cute clothes inside them and suggests the idea of revamping Veight's appearance as well.

Sympathizing with Chloe's desire to enhance her cuteness factor, La Coiffe gets to work.
The process goes swimmingly.
La Coiffe: Now for the finishing touch. A slightly rosy blush to your cheeks should accentuate your glowing complexion. There, that completes the easygoing-and-mature Chloe look!
Chloe: ...!
Kolulu: ...!
S-so this is what they call a mature look... She's practically shining!
La Coiffe: Mirror's for you, Chloe.
Chloe: Thanks!
Chloe gasps at the sight of herself in the mirror.
Chloe: O... M... G...

Coiffie, I can't even...
I'm looking at, like, the cutest Chloe in the history of Chloe!

(*´з`)
La Coiffe: Ahaha, I'm glad you like your new look so much.
La Coiffe: I think I'm starting to get the hang of this.
Chloe: Hey, Coiffie? When you get to work on Kolulu, remember that her fuzzy brows are, like, seriously a total gold mine!
La Coiffe: (Another flash of inspiration! I'm on a roll!)
La Coiffe: To borrow a phrase from Chloe, I'm going to make you the cutest Kolulu in the history of Kolulu!
Kolulu: Hehe... Maybe I'll get to impress Io with a new ladylike look.
La Coiffe: Here I go!
La Coiffe raises her massive scissors once more, this time to work on Kolulu.
Perhaps because of the organic stylist's experience with Chloe, she is able to proceed in full confidence.
The result turns out to be quite the spectacle.
La Coiffe: Now to highlight your brows to really match the shape of your face.
La Coiffe: The damage in your wild hair just won't do. But a slathering of essential oils will make it shine like never before!
Kolulu: ...!
Kolulu, too, gasps at the sight of herself in the mirror upon accepting it from La Coiffe.
Chloe: She's on fleek... We seriously hit the mother lode with Kolulu. lolz
Kolulu: Um... It's like I'm not myself anymore! I see a lady in the mirror!
La Coiffe: I tried to keep your age in mind for this look, Kolulu. Do you like it?
Kolulu: Indeed, I very much do! Thank you, La Coiffe!
While Chloe and Kolulu are showering La Coiffe with praise...
An agitated Veight, lugging shopping bags in both hands, returns to the Grandcypher.
Veight: Ugh, when did I become the errand boy of this crew?
La Coiffe: Veight, that's a lot of stuff you're carrying... I'm guessing you went shopping?
Veight: Mm-hm. I accompanied Drusilla on a trip to town to study the purchasing habits of mortals.
Veight: The moment she handed me her bags, she immediately went off to the next bargain sale... I couldn't take it anymore and came back ahead of her.
La Coiffe: Haha. For girls, shopping districts can easily turn into a war zone. I'm glad you survived.
Chloe: So, like, what kinda clothes did you buy?
Chloe peeks into Veight's shopping bags with profound interest.
When she spots a particularly charming outfit, her attention turns to Veight.
Chloe: Ooh! This one's perfect!
(¬‿¬)
Chloe: Hehehe! Coiffie, think you can turn on Veight's fleek factor next?
La Coiffe: I've never worked on a man before, but my experience with you and Kolulu should come in handy.
La Coiffe: I'm starting to get a fairly good grasp of people's anterior and posterior hairlines!
La Coiffe: So if you don't mind, Veight, I'd love to give it a try on you... Pretty please!
Chloe: Let's pump this ship up together, Veight!
Veight: What... are you two even saying?
Chloe: Coiffie's gonna give you a stylish makeover! So just give in and let her turn you into a total hottie!
Veight: Sigh... There's no need for me to change my outfit. I'm perfectly fine with the way I look.
Veight rejects the proposal and prepares to walk off, but Kolulu stands in his way.
Kolulu: Are you sure? I'd like to see you with a new look too, so that makes three of us.
Veight: Please, move out of the way. I'm already exhausted from shopping. I'm going back to my room.
Chloe: Ugh, gag me with a spoon. What kind of a guy turns down three gals like us? Can't you consider it a playdate?
┏(^0^)┛
Veight: Ngh...
La Coiffe: C'mon, be a good sport! It'll be over in a jiffy! Please, please, pretty please, Veight!
The girls plead earnestly, hoping to earn the vampire's consent.
Veight: Back off! Leave me alone already!
La Coiffe: Just say yes, Veight!
Veight: Rgh! Stop it!

Realizing Her Potential: Scene 3

La Coiffe completes another brilliant beautification job, this time on Veight. She bumps into Lennah that night and confides to her the internal struggle she feels in the difference between giving people, as opposed to plants, a makeover. The talk gives the organic stylist a fresh, new perspective on what it means to help plants and people coexist in harmony.

Veight: Huff, huff... Ngh! Fine, I'll do as you say. Geez, talk about a bad day.
Overwhelmed by the trio of ladies, Veight has no choice but to give in.
La Coiffe: (Yay, it hit me again!)
Elated to have another go at it, La Coiffe swings her giant scissors.
La Coiffe: Let's straighten out the length and go in for some thinning! Based on your hairline, I'd say a normcore style would suit you best!
La Coiffe: We want to take full advantage of your naturally coquettish charms.
Chloe and Kolulu are captivated as La Coiffe works her magic on Veight, wielding her outsized scissors with all the grace of a dancer.
Chloe: She's done it again. La Coiffe might as well be a beauty goddess. Yay, I'm BFFs with a goddess!
ヾ(≧w≦)ノ"
Kolulu: Sniff... Tears start pouring out of my eyes for some reason when I watch her in action.
La Coiffe: There, all done. How does it feel, Veight?
Veight: ...!
All it takes is one look in the mirror for Veight to begin trembling.
Veight: Wha!
Ack...
Chloe: Whee! Now's our chance!
Chloe strikes while Veight remains too bewildered to act, giving him a swift change of clothes.
The cute-loving trio is instantly entranced by Veight's new, almost divine appearance.
Chloe: Beyond lit...
Kolulu: Aah...
La Coiffe: Nice. Real nice.
Veight: Gaaah! Wh-what have you done to me!
Chloe: You don't know how good you look, Veight. I'd say you're totes ready to represent all fashionista gals! You oughta, like, try walking a runway next.
ヾ(≧w≦)ノ"
Veight: Rgh... I'll be going back now!
Deeply touched by Veight's transformed appearance, La Coiffe and company watch with warmth in their hearts as the blushing vampire takes off in a flurry.
That night...
La Coiffe reflects on the events of the day while taking in the view of nearby flowers, their beauty accentuated by the moonlight.
La Coiffe: A lot happened today, but it sure was fun. The others had a really good time too.
La Coiffe: Haha, Veight turned out exceptionally well. He sure surpassed my expectations.
La Coiffe: But I can't forget my roots as an organic stylist... Or can I?
La Coiffe: Hm, this puts me at a crossroads... I can't exactly have my cake and eat it too...
As she clutches her head in frustration, Lennah, who appears to be admiring the greenery, pops into view.
La Coiffe: Oh... Lennah, good evening. What brings you here?
Lennah: Why, hello there. I thought I'd try getting lost in the forest. And then I found something really wonderful.
Lennah turns to a grove of wildflowers nearby.
La Coiffe: Ah, the cresceres still have their buds attached.
Lennah: Oh my, I'm impressed! There aren't many people who know the name of this flower.
Lennah: They symbolize "growth." Just the flowers for you right now, don't you think?
La Coiffe: Huh?
Lennah: Teehee, it's written all over your face: you're even more lost than I am.
La Coiffe: Haha, I guess there's no hiding it from you, Lennah.
Seeing the corners of Lennah's lips pull back into a gentle smile, La Coiffe decides to divulge her worries.
La Coiffe: The trimming technique I use came about from restoring plants that had turned poisonous as a result of resisting people encroaching on their natural habitat.
Lennah: I see. The gardener who created the technique must have worked really hard so people can be at peace with nature. It's a wonderful skill you've inherited.
La Coiffe: If I could somehow spread this trimming technique across the world, there'd be fewer trees getting chopped down, and more of nature's beauty could be preserved...
La Coiffe: I consider it my duty... Yet recently, I've been focusing too much attention on people instead of plant life...
Lennah: Haha. Yes, I heard about how you gave a few girls in the crew a makeover.
La Coiffe: Everything I've done, I did with a clear conscience. And seeing others happy puts a smile on my face. But still...
La Coiffe: There's a part of me that says the time I spend working on people could be better spent communicating with plants and spreading knowledge of trimming techniques.
Lennah: I see your point. But you really enjoy spiffing people up too, don't you?
La Coiffe: Well, yes... I definitely had fun, and part of me wants to keep at it.
Lennah: The solution seems simple enough. Have you considered doing both? You can continue sprucing up plants and people.
La Coiffe: Both?
Lennah: Well, why not? You suggested yourself that both excite you.
Lennah: Hm... I wonder if there's some sort of connection between this and everything you've done up until now.
La Coiffe: A connection, you say? Hrm...
Lennah: Haha... I'm sure there's something. A commonality shared between people and plants.
La Coiffe: You think so?
La Coiffe: Actually...
Lennah: Ring a bell yet?
La Coiffe: Yeah! I had a flash of inspiration with every makeover I gave the girls!
La Coiffe: Ideas on how I could pretty them up and really make them shine just came to me!
La Coiffe: It's a lot like the ideas I get on how to trim plants!
Lennah: Lovely... Perhaps all the time you've spent gazing at nature's beauty has enhanced your sensibilities in such matters.
La Coiffe: People and plants are completely different though.
Lennah: Is that how you feel? I mean, just look at me. I'm a person, but I'm also part plant.
La Coiffe: Huh? Wh-what do you mean?
Lennah: I'd say, ultimately, there's little difference between the two. In a way, each is a part of nature.
Lennah: If you think of it that way, it seems perfectly natural to want both plants and people to bloom in the most beautiful way possible.
La Coiffe: People... can bloom too?
Lennah: Of course, dear. Every person and every plant possesses an inherent wish to look more charming. It's only natural.
Lennah: Haha. I wouldn't be surprised if plants lose their toxicity precisely because they're so happy with your treatment.
La Coiffe: You think plants have feelings like that too?
La Coiffe: Ah! It's like how they say plants grow faster if you talk to them!
Lennah: That's right. Doesn't matter if it's a person or a plant—you can wield your scissors with equal purpose either way.
La Coiffe: You might be on to something... If you can cleanse them by prettying them up...
Lennah: Haha... Maybe they'll all retract their poison and put down their axes if you can make them look good enough.
La Coiffe: Then poisonous plants will stop being so when they're able to bloom in full beauty.
La Coiffe: Which would lessen the anger and hatred people might harbor for plant life. And the next time they come across a poisonous tree, they'd be less likely to want to just chop down the whole thing!
La Coiffe: I think we've come full circle! This is definitely one way to go about promoting the coexistence of nature and people.
Lennah: That smile really suits you. I hope I was able to provide you with sound advice, La Coiffe.
La Coiffe: I was feeling a bit down, but I'm all better now!
La Coiffe: Instead of siding with only plants, I'll help both plants and people live together in harmony.
Lennah: Oh my, it's almost like you've leveled up! I think you'll make a fine ambassador, bridging the gap between plants and people.
La Coiffe: (An ambassador, huh...)
With a new goal in sight after spilling her heart out to Lennah, La Coiffe whispers to the maturing crescere by her feet.
La Coiffe: From now on I'll work even harder so that we can all get along, okay?
As if responding to her soft murmur, the crescere's bud opens up, blooming into a beautiful flower.
