The Untrained Captain

(Captain) and the crew continue on their journey with the new member, Lecia, a former airship captain of the Crew of Enforcers. One morning the crew awakes to find Lecia swabbing the deck. She mentions that she's always enjoyed cleaning, and even did it for her old crew. She then leaves for the market, but is quickly followed by (Captain), Lyria and the others as they realize the way to the market takes her through a monster-infested wood.

(Captain) welcomed Lecia into the crew, and they all set off to continue their journey together.
One morning, after spending a night recuperating on an island, the crew awoke to find Lecia on the deck of the airship.
Lecia: Heeheeheeee!
Lecia: Oh! Good morning! (Captain), Vyrn, Lyria.
Lyria: Good morning! Lecia, this is a surprise.
Vyrn: Hey! Lecia, you're up! What are you doing out here on your own this early in the morning?
Lecia: I was swabbing the deck. I was also thinking I might head to the market while the day is still young.
Vyrn: Wow, you're being a real help, don't you agree, (Captain)? Thanks a bunch!
Lyria: Yes, thank you very much, Lecia!
Lecia: Oh, um… Well I just thought since I was new, I might as well make myself useful. There's no need to thank me.
Lecia: And actually, I like to clean. It's like I'm clearing my mind at the same time.
Lecia: I always used to clean for my old crew with the Enforcers.
Lecia: Monika used to try and stop me, though.
Lecia: She use to tell me, "You're the captain, start acting like it!" …Teehee, good times.
Lecia: But anyway! I need to be off!
Lecia: See you all later, I'm headed to the market.
Lecia: I'll take care of lunch for today, so just sit back, relax, and have some fun!
Lyria: Wow! I can't wait to see what kind of food Lecia's going to make for us!
Vyrn: But, do you think it's safe for her to go to the market alone?
Vyrn: Won't she have to go through that monster-filled forest?
Lyria: (Captain)! We have catch up to Lecia!

The Untrained Captain: Scene 2

The crew catch up with an apologetic Lecia. As they make their way to the market, they talk about how different she seems to when they first met. They then encounter a group of thugs shaking down a local store owner.

Lecia: I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to put you all through so much trouble.
Lecia: And now you're even carrying my things for me…
Lyria: Don't worry about it! It's not even heavy! OK, where to next?
Vyrn: But seriously, what were you thinking, just wandering off on your own? There are monsters all over this area!
Lecia: I am sorry, everyone…
The crew safely left the woods without encountering any monsters, and carried on to the market.
Vyrn: You know, when we first met I never thought you'd be this modest, Lecia.
Lyria: You're right, Vyrn. When we first met on Golonzo Island, I actually thought you were a bit scary.
Lecia: Oh, well, that was when I was trying my best to be more "captain-like."
Lyria: Heehee. Now that you put it that way…
Lyria: I did get the feeling that you were a bit… awkward back then.
Lecia: Oh… I was trying my best. Really, I was.
Lecia: I guess I was maybe trying a little too hard, now that I think about it.
Lecia: Wait! That's the last shop I need to go to. I hope they have all the vegetables I need.
Lecia: What!
???: Just shut up and listen to what I got to say!
Vyrn: What's this? A fight?
Lecia: (Captain), Lyria, you'd better get ready. I don't like the look of this guy.
Thug: If you keep lookin' at us like that, we're gonna mess this place up reeeal good, y'hear?
Thug: Well, we were gonna do it anyway, but now we got a reason to, ain't we?
Shopkeep: Please, have mercy! Leave my poor store alone!
Lecia: Some people just make it so easy to hate them.
Lecia: Let's put a stop to this, (Captain). Even if we have to get… physical!

The Untrained Captain: Scene 3

Lecia and (Captain) send the thugs running for the hills, and are congratulated by the townsfolk. The Crew of Enforcers spot Lecia, and come running towards the Grandcypher crew. Lecia, already flustered by the generous gifts from the townspeople, senses the incoming horde of thugs who are seeking revenge, and takes charge of the defense of the town.

Thug: You ain't gonna get away with this! You'll see!
Shopkeep: Oh, thank you so much, kind travelers!
Shopkeep: What ever brought you along this way? Anyway, I think you all deserve a reward for helping me out there!
Lecia: Please, we didn't help you for a reward.
Enforcer 1: Are we late? We heard that there was a disturbance in this? Oh!
Lecia: You guys are…
Enforcer 2: Captain Lecia! I never expected to see you again! And in a place such as this!
Lecia: That's former captain. Anyway, what are you doing here?
Enforcer 1: We've been hired to protect this town, if you can believe it.
The Crew of Enforcers had taken the job to protect the small town, and dispatched a small crew of skyfarers.
Townsperson 1: Whaaat! This little girl is the captain of the Crew of Enforcers?
Townsperson 2: Then we owe you even more than we thought! The Crew of Enforcers have helped out this town more than we thought possible!
Lecia: Ah… err… um… Well, it's actually former captain…
Townsperson 1: Potato, potahto, you still deserve a bit of praise!
Lecia: Oh dear! P-please, it's not like that at all! I'm actually part of a different crew now.
The visibly flustered Lecia managed to escape the throng of excited townsfolk surrounding her.
Enforcer 1: Heh, Captain Lecia's not changed one bit.
Vyrn: You mean she was always like this? Even when she was your captain?
Enforcer 1: Yes. She used to try to act the way she thought a captain should…
Enforcer 2: But that's how she really was underneath, always flustered about one thing or other.
Vyrn: Hmm? How can you follow someone like that? She'd hardly instill you with confidence.
Enforcer 1: Not at all! She was the best choice out of everyone in the crew.
Vyrn: Really?
Shopkeep: Please, take this! Oh, and this, too!
Lecia: Er… I mean, I'm pleased as punch that you're safe, but I don't think we'll get through all this before it spoils.
Lyria: We'll try our best! Don't worry, we'll eat it.
Lecia: Lyria!
Townsperson 1: Ho ho ho! That's the spirit! Here, you should take this as well!
Lyria: Oh, thank you!
Lecia: What are we going to do, (Captain)?
Lecia: Forget about eating it all, I don't think we'll even be able to carry it all to the ship!
Lecia: Oh no!
Lecia: Sir, please, get your family together and leave this place.
Shopkeep: What?
Lecia: Everybody should do the same! You all need to gather your family, and leave as soon as you can!
Townsperson 2: What? Why are you saying this all of a sudden…
Lecia: Crew of Enforcers, and anyone able to fight, ready yourselves! Wait for my command!
Lecia: Anyone not staying to fight should leave. Find somewhere safe!
Enforcer 1: Aye aye, captain!
Lecia: Former captain…
Lecia: There are about 30 of them, and they'll be coming from the main road… Quick, to your positions!
Thug: Ugh, it's those pesky kids again…
Thug: They got the upper hand earlier, but let's see how well they do against all of us.
Chubby Thug: O-oi! What's goin' on!
Thug: Hey, keep up, will ya? This ain't the time to be slackin' off!
Chubby Thug: I wasn't! I'm tryin' my best!
Chubby Thug: It's just, it looks like they knew we was comin'. Look at how many people they got!
Thug: What!
Lecia: Do not be fooled by their wild and brutish demeanor. They aim to scare you, but do not give them the satisfaction.
Lecia: Even if they push us back, we shall rally together and push back even harder.
Lecia: We shall not run, shall not surrender. From today, you are all Enforcers!

The Untrained Captain: Scene 4

The party fight back the thugs, and the Crew of Enforcers capture those left behind. With the fighting over, Lecia returns to her usual, nervous self. Saying farewell once again to her former crew, Lecia continues on her shopping trip with the crew of the Grandcypher.

With the help of the Crew of Enforcers, (Captain) and crew fought the unruly horde of thugs.
The arrogance of the thugs was unfounded, and they were soon beaten and captured.
Lecia: I'm sorry. I'm not a captain any more. I had no right taking charge like that.
Enforcer 1: What are you talking about? You know that we'll always follow you, captain Lecia.
Lecia: How many times do I have to tell you? It's former captain…
Vyrn: I get it now. Lecia is a ball of nerves most of the time…
Vyrn: But when it's crunch time, she really steps up!
Enforcer 2: Now you see why we follow her? We can't think of a better leader.
Enforcer 2: (Captain), you feel the same way, right?
  1. Of course.
  2. Not really…

Choose: Of course.
Enforcer 2: I knew it. You're still young, but I see a lot of what I respect about the captain in you.
Enforcer 2: Lecia is a great captain, but she still needs to grow into herself, if you get my meaning.
Go to "Continue 1"

Choose: Not really…
Enforcer 2: Hahaha! You've been talking to Monika, haven't you?
Enforcer 2: I think you should be proud of her. Monika can be pretty tough on people, so take what she says with a pinch of salt.
Continue 1
The Crew of Enforcers took the captive bandits, and left the market.
Lecia: Well then, I think we've had enough shopping for one day. Let's get back to the ship.
Lecia: I'm sure everyone will be hungry by now.
Lecia: Look at that, it's almost noon! Come on, we have to get back!
Lyria: Ugh… Sooo hungry…
Vyrn: I haven't eaten anything aaall day. I'm seeing stars…
Lecia: Let's hurry back to the ship, and I'll have something ready in a jiffy!
Lecia: Come on (Captain), let's get back to the Grandcypher!
Lecia took (Captain) by the hand, and they hurried back to the airship.
Though she seemed as flustered as ever, there was a twinkle in Lecia's eye that wasn't there previously.
