The Crew of Enforcers raids a banquet attended by members of a criminal syndicate and arrests everyone involved. Later, McCoy is praised for his efforts in taking down the syndicate and offered a promotion, which he turns down in favor of a long-overdue vacation.
At a certain late-night salon...
Some guests drown themselves in fine liquor, others gorge on lavish food, and still others lose themselves in dance.
All across the venue, talk that never reaches the surface world drifts about.
In the heart of that revelry, a man and woman dance together in perfect step.
Noblewoman: Haha... How lovely. You really can do anything, can't you?
Emilios: You honor me with your praise. But your steps are equally impeccable, my lady.
Noblewoman: Among all the women you've danced with, how would you rank me?
Emilios: Making such comparisons would be bad form.
Emilios: Let's just say I can't think of another woman who can match my steps so flawlessly.
Noblewoman: So... In your eyes, I'm the finest woman of all?
Emilios: No.
Emilios: You are the finest woman of all not just to me, but to men everywhere.
Noblewoman: Heehee. Thank you.
Emilios: Hahaha. But do keep it from your husband, won't you?
Emilios: It wouldn't do for a mere secretary—newly hired, no less—to be your dance partner.
Noblewoman: Of course I understand. I wouldn't be free of consequences myself.
Noblewoman: Ah... If only this night could last forever...
Emilios: No, my lady. It is this very moment that is eternal.
Noblewoman: Emilios...
Emilios: My lady...
Enforcer: Nobody move! We're the Crew of Enforcers!
Enforcer: We've uncovered evidence of criminal trafficking! Everyone present is to be taken into custody!
Noblewoman: The Crew of Enforcers?
Bourgeois: What nonsense! This is my private residence! You're the suspicious intruders trespassing here!
Enforcer: We have government authorization. And we also have proof that you are an underworld organization engaged in organ trafficking.
Noblewoman: ...!
Bourgeois: Grk! So the government plans to cut us loose, does it?
Bourgeois: Guards! Drive these fools out!
Guard: Raaaagh!
Enforcer: Hah!
Guard: Ugh!
Enforcer: Resistance is futile. We'd prefer to resolve this peacefully.
Bourgeois: What are you useless guards standing around for! Secure our escape route!
Enforcer: ...
Shouts thunder and screams echo through the hall. The shadowed syndicate offers fierce resistance, met blow for blow by the Crew of Enforcers.
Smoke and shattered dishes fill the air, the once-elegant salon becoming a crucible of chaos...
Yet one by one, the Enforcers manage to seize all present.
Bourgeois: Damn it! Let go of me!
Bourgeois: You bastards! Who the hell leaked the ledger?
Noblewoman: Emilios! Where are you, Emilios!
Noblewoman: Emilioooos—
McCoy: Seriously? You were gonna stick me with prison rations too?
Arriet: I'm sorry. There was a mix-up, and the message never got to you. Not exactly leader material for the intelligence unit, am I.
McCoy: No need to beat yourself up... but when the boss doesn't keep things in order, it causes trouble.
McCoy: Ahh, ow, ow, ow... I held the act together till the end so as not to blow my cover, but...
McCoy: That investigation team doesn't pull its punches, huh. I didn't even resist, and they still beat me to a pulp.
Arriet: I'm really sorry, I mean it. They said they want to meet you properly and offer a formal apology.
Arriet: You brought in evidence of that syndicate we've been tracking—an organ-trafficking ledger—in just three months.
McCoy: Hard pass. A spy can't get involved with anyone in the organization. Can't reveal my position—not even to our own.
McCoy: Of course, there are exceptions.
Arriet: Huh. You really are uncompromising about that.
Arriet: ...
Arriet: Hey, McCoy. About that thing Monika mentioned—
McCoy: No.
Arriet: Why not?
McCoy: I'm a field man, you see. Retiring to train others is simply not for me.
Arriet: But your skills are exactly what the younger spies need. You're first-rate at everything.
McCoy: Skills aren't something you're taught. You watch and make them your own.
Arriet: Except you refuse to pair up with anyone in the unit. How are they supposed to learn if you won't let them watch you?
McCoy: Heh...
McCoy: You overestimate me, Ettie. I'm just a scavenger from the slums. I'm no mentor for the young.
Arriet: Is that so? You stack excuse upon excuse—field work, slum scavenger, this and that.
Arriet: Which means you're lying. What's the real reason? Why do you refuse to teach what you know?
McCoy: Wow...
McCoy: Guess there's no pulling the wool over your crystal-clear eyes, huh.
McCoy: Then answer me this. In this organ-trafficking case... how do you think I stole the ledger?
Arriet: Um...
McCoy: Wrong.
Arriet: What? I haven't even answered yet!
McCoy: You don't know. And to be fair, I can't explain it either.
McCoy: If I told you, as my superior officer, you'd have no choice but to discipline me.
Arriet: ...
McCoy: To be honest, my methods aren't much different from the criminal underworld's. The young must not follow in my footsteps.
Arriet: And you can't even explain why you go that far?
McCoy: Being a spy is my life itself. I forgot any other way of living a long time ago.
McCoy: Now then... Can I stop playing inmate and get back outside?
McCoy: I've got a vacation planned for the first time in a while. By this hour tomorrow, I'll be on the beaches of Auguste.
McCoy: Hehe... It's not prime season, but there'll still be plenty of women—
Spy Enforcer: McCoy! Sorry, but could you come right away?
McCoy: Huh?
McCoy, spy of the Enforcers, rarely shows his true feelings and so is shrouded in mystery. However...
His sense of duty toward his missions and his willingness to stake his life on them are undeniably genuine.
What urgent new assignment calls him back, just as his long-awaited vacation is about to begin?
