The Flutterby Princess
One day, (Captain) and the crew visit Narmaya, the famous swordmaster, to learn the secret of her training. She confides in (Captain) that no one has ever recognized her efforts, and the party raises her spirits by telling her how much they admire her skills. Ever since, Narmaya has been strangely attached to the party, fussing over them at every opportunity, eventually offering to accompany them on their journey.
Narmaya: Hey, (Captain)! Are you OK? You're not hungry, are you? Shall I go and get you some fruit?
Narmaya: Oh, (Captain)! Are you cold? Here, take my coat!
(Captain) and the crew are visiting a forest where the air is still and the distant sounds of birds can be heard. Then…
Narmaya: (Captain)! Lyria! Vyrn!
Narmaya, the katana-wielding Draph, has come to be very attached to (Captain).
Vyrn: Heheheh… What's up with her?
Lyria: Hmm… Who knows?
Vyrn: Was it something we did?
The crew wonder what could have happened to make Narmaya so attached to (Captain).
One day, before the crew meet Narmaya, they hear about a strange swordmaster who combines magic and swordplay…
Thinking that they could pick up some useful tips from such a unique fighter, the crew head to the savage forest where she dwells…
Vyrn: Hey, Lyria? Are we really gonna find a swordmaster here?
Lyria: If the information we received is correct, they should be here…
Lyria: Ah! There! There's someone over there!
The crew look over to where Lyria is pointing. A woman holding a katana is sitting there, meditating quietly.
Narmaya: ……
Vyrn: Ah! That's the swordmaster! But what is she doing?
Lyria: She's meditating, isn't she? Katalina said that samurai do that when they want to concentrate!
Vyrn: Whoa! So she's the real deal!
Narmaya: Zzzzzz…
Vyrn: Wait… She's sleeping!
Lyria: You're right…
Vyrn: She wasn't concentrating, just having a snooze… Maybe this isn't the swordmaster after all.
Lyria: Hmm… Shall we wake her up? It's dangerous to sleep outside in a place like this…
(Captain) nods, and approaches the sleeping girl, but at that moment…
Narmaya: ……
The girl flickers like smoke, and disappears in a cloud of butterflies.
Vyrn: Wha-? Butterflies? She's gone!
(Captain) and the crew notice a butterfly flying behind them and turn around to look at it. Suddenly the woman appears again.
Narmaya: Good day to you.
Lyria: Ah! Erm… Good day to you too!
Narmaya: What's going on? What are you children doing here? It's dangerous! Are you lost?
Vyrn: Wh-whoa! Is that one of those moves where you combine the sword with magic?
Narmaya: H-huh? I just moved normally…
Lyria: Wha-? You just moved normally? Just by moving you did that?
Vyrn: Whoa, she's really something. I guess that's why they call them "swordmasters"!
Narmaya: Huh? Swordmaster?
Narmaya seems confused, so (Captain) introduces the crew and explains why they've come to see her.
Narmaya: I see… I understand now why you came all this way, but you have me mistaken for someone else.
Vyrn: What? But we just saw you do a crazy move, Butterfly Girl!
Narmaya: I don't understand, I was just moving… And earlier, I tried to meditate, but then I just fell asleep. I'm so inexperienced…
Narmaya: And you keep calling me a "swordmaster," but I've only ever had normal training, just like anyone else!
Vyrn: Well, falling asleep while meditating is a bit bad…
Vyrn: But you're amazing! Being able to do that just by moving is crazy!
Vyrn: You must have done some kind of fancy training, Butterfly Girl! Can you show us?
Narmaya: Erm… OK… but it really is just normal training, you know…
The girl, still confused, takes out her sword. She taps a tree and causes hundreds of leaves to float down.
The sword begins to flicker and shift, forming into other weapons. In the blink of an eye the leaves are torn to shreds.
Lyria: Huh? Wh-what just happened?
Vyrn: Her katana flickered like it was made of smoke… Hey, what did you do?
Narmaya: Huh? What did I do? I just waved my sword… nothing special.
Vyrn: That's normal for you? Just waving your sword and then that happens?
(Captain), confused at Narmaya describing all her actions as "normal," tries to practice in the same way.
But as the leaves floated down, (Captain) can't cut a single one, instead they fan away from each swing.
Vyrn: (Captain) can't do it either, huh? I guess only a famous swordmaster could pull a stunt that crazy!
(Captain) and the crew are glowing with praise for Narmaya's abilities, but she hangs her head in sadness.
Narmaya: Please… stop teasing me. I'm not amazing… I'm not famous…
Narmaya: No one has ever recognized my skills… He won't recognize them…
Narmaya: If I was famous or skilled, he would have come to see me… I know he would…
Lyria: "He"?
Vyrn: Yeah… Hey, Butterfly Girl, you know we're not teasing you, right?
Narmaya: Huh?
Vyrn: Seriously, your skills are crazy awesome! None of us could even dream of doing that thing with the leaves!
Vyrn: We think you're super cool! Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods, and tells Narmaya that far from being unrecognized as a swordmaster, everyone admires her skills.
Narmaya: You… you think that about me?
Lyria: Of course! Your skills are amazing!
Narmaya: Heehee, you really think so?
Choose: It's embarrassing to admit, but…
Vyrn: Yeah, it's hard, isn't it! She can do impossible moves without breaking a sweat!
Vyrn: That's why you're amazing, Butterfly Girl!
(Captain) nods, and conveyed their appreciation for Narmaya again.

Narmaya: You remind me of someone I used to know…
The girl looks at the party with a smile on her face.
Narmaya: Thank you.
Vyrn: Hmm, when you think about it, the reason that she's so attached to (Captain), and all of us, is…
Lyria: It's because we praised her skill and encouraged her, isn't it!
Narmaya: (Captain)! Lyria! Vyrn! Are you OK? Is there anything I can do for you?
Vyrn: Erm… nope, not really… Anyway, we're heading home now, Butterfly Girl!
Narmaya: Oh! Are you going to be all right on your own? The road is dangerous, so I'd better go with you!
Narmaya: Actually, you could probably use my help on your journey! I'd be happy to come!
Lyria: Wha-? Really?
Narmaya: Of course! I can train anywhere, after all! And…
Narmaya: (…I feel like with you guys, I might be able to meet "him"…)
Lyria: And?
Narmaya: You wanted training tips from me, right? And it's nice to have someone around to help you!
Vyrn: True… You've convinced me! She can join the crew, right, (Captain)?
Narmaya: Heehee. I'm looking forward to travelling with you!
Narmaya: All right, shall we go back to the ship, (Captain)?
And so, the swordmaster Narmaya joins the crew on their journey.
The crew sometimes wonder why she fusses over them like a big sister, but they enjoy having her around as a companion.
