The Path Toward True Strength

The crew meets Ryu through a fateful airship accident. Ryu has come to the Sky Realm in search of the primal beasts, beings of unimaginable power that he hopes to challenge to unarmed combat. (Captain) finds Ryu's unerring enthusiasm infectious and starts to become more motivated, too. The enthusiasm bug then spreads to the whole crew, who all gain strength from Ryu's presence.

(Captain) and crew are involved in an airship collision, and come across a martial artist called Ryu.
Ryu's quest is to find the best fighter in the world. The crew take him to their airship to take him to the Knickknack Shack.
Ryu: I felt a strange power coming off you, Lyria. What was that? Are you able to manipulate your Qi energy?
Lyria: Ah, erm… Well… I don't think I've heard of this "Chee" energy. The primal beasts lend me their strength…
Ryu: Primal beasts! Does that mean, you've met them?
Vyrn: Hmmm, well no one ever really "meets" them, but… Does this mean you're looking for the primal beasts, too?
Ryu: Yes! I came here after I heard that there were creatures with god-like strength!
Ryu: Do you know where I can find them? I have to see such power in person.
Vyrn: Well, about that, we don't really know where they are either.
Lyria: Hmm, yes. Well I can usually sense whether there is a primal beast on an island…
Ryu: Oh. So I guess you can't help me. It's just so tantalizing, the thought of fighting such a powerful foe…
Lyria: What? You can't mean…
Ryu: Yes. I intend to challenge this "god-like" primal beast in hand-to-hand combat.
Vyrn: Whoa, whoa. You wanna fight a primal beast? I've never heard anything so ridiculous.
  1. Sounds dangerous.
  2. You don't lack in confidence.

Choose: Sounds dangerous.

Ryu: Hah. If I die, then that's just the way it goes.
Lyria: What! H-how can you just say that so nonchalantly?
Ryu: Hmm? You know it's actually quite rare for someone to actually die in a fight…
Lyria: But still! Ryu, you can't do this! You should take more care of yourself!
Lyria: Erm, Ryu, you seem to have spent your life meeting people, engaging in fights, getting stronger.
Ryu:
Lyria: I'm… I'm not saying this right. What I mean is that your story is not so different to ours.
Lyria: Erm, so that's why I think you shouldn't be so flippant in throwing your life away.
Ryu:
Vyrn: C-come on guys, let's keep it light.
Ryu: I have no intention of losing, but a true martial artist must be prepared for any eventuality.
Ryu: As you say, over the years I've fought countless people in order to become this strong, and it's taught me something.
Ryu: The feeling you get when you fight someone for the second time and feel how much you've improved, it's the best.
Ryu: This quest is to fulfil a promise I made to an old friend. We've promised to meet again, so I have to survive until then.
Lyria: I see. Well, you've helped put my mind at ease.
Lyria: Heehee, a promise with a friend, how cute!
Vyrn: Erm, I don't think the reunion will be as romantic as you're imagining…
The usually reticent Ryu, normally hell-bent on fighting, has shown a different side.

Choose: You don't lack in confidence.

Ryu: I don't know about that. I suppose I don't lack in confidence, but I still feel like I have a lot to learn.
Vyrn: Really? I'd say you've learned enough. I mean, when was the last time you lost a bout?
Ryu: But I'm not yet at a point where you could call me a True Warrior.
Vyrn: What's a "True Warrior"?
Ryu: I don't know yet. But there is something I do know.
Ryu: When I ask myself after a battle, "am I a True Warrior?" the answer is always, "not yet."
Vyrn: Ugh, this is getting deep.
Ryu: Every person I fight teaches me more about what it means to be strong. Each person is a step towards becoming a True Warrior.
Vyrn: Hmm, forget about "True Warrior," this guy's closer to becoming a "True Bore"!
Lyria: Ahaha… Vyrn, that's a bit mean, don't you think?
The usually reticent Ryu, normally hell-bent on fighting, has shown a different side.

As the crew make their way back to the airship, the now thoroughly motivated (Captain) feels a new sense of purpose.
Ryu: What was that? An airplane? Are we near an airport?
Vyrn: Yeah! That's where our airship is!
Ryu: OK…
Saying this, Ryu clenched his jaw and slapped himself, as a kind of motivational ritual.
Ryu: OK! (Captain)! I have a favor to ask of you!
Vyrn: Wah! Don't you have an indoor voice? You don't need to get so excited over an airship.
Ryu: Haha… I have traveled far and wide, and seen many things, but everything in this country seems alien to me.
Ryu: I'm sure the people I'll find through the Knickknack Shack will be strong challengers.
Ryu: I wonder what kind of people I'll meet. Ha, this should be interesting!
And so Ryu, in his quest to become a "True Warrior," joins (Captain) and the crew of the airship.
The enthusiasm with which he pursues his dream to be the best is infectious, and the whole crew find themselves pushing harder.
