Having once fought alongside Gintoki and his comrades in the Joui Wars, he founded the Kaientai in an attempt to reconcile the relationship between Earthlings and the Amanto through the power of trade. His strong sense of moral justice plus his ability to not sweat the small things has helped him recruit many people to the cause. Despite being a skilled pilot, he suffers from severe airsickness. Because of this, much of his time spent in the Sky Realm consisted of vomiting while piloting Katsura's airship.
