A storyteller who specializes in comedic stories. He somehow always ends up in trouble due to his love of drinking, gambling, and women—the so-called three pleasures of life. Rakusho claims, without much evidence, that his erratic way of life is a source of inspiration, and he is a strong proponent of laughter being the best medicine. Consequently, he takes rakugo—and rakugo alone—seriously. In spite of his incredibly hedonistic tendencies, he is a massively popular storyteller loved by every demographic. His two apprentices—the opener Rakko and trainee Makura—also give off an air of carelessness and foolery. Did the two pick their master due to their similarities, or are the similarities a result of his influence? To this day, it isn't clear which came first.
