Fall of the Dragon - Opening

A young girl whose face is hidden beneath a hood leaves her island in order to save the life of her friend. She arrives in Torznizza and is shopping happily when Vyrn accidently bumps into her, causing the hood to fall and reveal her true identity.

On an island shrouded in thick mist, a young girl is saying goodbye to her friend.
Hooded Girl: All right! I'm ready to go!
Pink Dragon: Gyoo?
Hooded Girl: Don't worry. I'll be back before you know it! Be good, okay?
Pink Dragon: Gyoo!
Hooded Girl: Good! See you soon!
???: Wait.
Hooded Girl: ...!
???: Why are you so enamored with the outside world? Consider the position you're in. Do you intend to violate your own laws?
???: What could you possibly see in those vulgar creatures? Do you realize the hysteria you'll raise if they see you?
Hooded Girl: Yeah, yeah, I know! That's why I'm wearing this hood.
???: Don't be foolish! I'm begging you to reconsider!
Hooded Girl: Move it! If I don't go, Malinda might die!
???: Hey! Stop!
???: Ah, geez. Why won't she listen to me?
Meanwhile, the crew hears about Torznizza, a market island that sells many specialized goods.
Interested in the tales of the bazaar that never closes, the party decides to make a stopover.
Loud Shopkeep: Gather round! Gather round! Got all sorts of goods for sale today!
Hoarse Shopkeep: One for a hundred rupies! Scratch that. Thirty rupies! C'mon, what are ya waiting for?
Lyria: Wow! It sure is lively and exciting!
Rackam: You got that right. It feels like a festival!
Lyria: I can't wait to look at all these stalls! So where should we go first?
Vyrn: Can we go look for an apple stand? They say this island's famous for its apples!
Rackam: Oh, that's right. They say the apples here can't be found anywhere else.
Rackam: They're juicier than regular apples and full of nutrients to boot.
Vyrn: Ooh. I can't stop drooling.
Lyria: Heehee! Okay, let's head for the fruit market!
Vyrn: Hehe! I owe you one, Lyria! Apples beware—I'm coming for you!
Hooded Girl: So this is the outside world. It's so bright...
Hooded Girl: Look at all these people! And all the stuff you can buy!
Kindly Shopkeep: Why, hello there, young lady. Is this your first time to Torznizza?
Hooded Girl: Yep! I came here to buy all the fruits and vegetables I can carry!
Kindly Shopkeep: Are you on an errand? Hehe, that's so nice of you. Here, have some freebies!
Hooded Girl: Really? Heeheehee, thank you! Hmm, now what should I buy?
While the girl peruses the various fruits in the stall, an apple-craving dragon cruises down the street in high spirits.
Vyrn: Apples, apples, apples! Where are you hiding?
Rackam: Hold on a minute, Vyrn! Watch where you're going!
Vyrn flies straight into the girl who's still absorbed in her shopping.
Vyrn: Oof!
Hooded Girl: Aah!
The collision causes the girl's hood to fall back from her head.
Lyria: Now you've done it, Vyrn!
Vyrn: S-sorry! Are you okay?
Rackam: Geez, Vyrn, what's wrong with you? Are you all right, miss? Sorry about our little lizard here—
Rackam stops short when he notices the girl's head.
Rackam: Uh, you've got wings coming out of your head...
Hooded Girl: Gasp!
No longer hidden under the hood, her crimson wings reveal her true identity.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 1

The girl, who calls herself Vania, turns out to be a vampire, and that revelation causes panic to break out in the marketplace. (Captain) and company save Vania, who then tells the crew that she's trying to save the life of her friend, Malinda.

The locals are terrified at the sight of the crimson wings coming from the girl's head, and the market descends into chaos.
Terrified Customer: Why does she have those wings? Is she a beast?
Rackam: Um, just what are you?
Vania: You're all so rude! I, Vania, am not a beast!
Terrified Customer: Then what? A monster? She's a monster!
Vania: Wrong! I'm a vampire! We're totally different, you know!
Terrified Customer: Did you say vampire? As in, those things that suck people's blood you hear about in stories?
Calling herself a vampire only adds fuel to the fire; people scream in terror and scramble to get away.
Terrified Customer: Aaah! Someone get the guards!
Vania: W-why's everyone so afraid? I just came to buy some fruit...
Vania: Excuse me, ma'am? This fruit—
Kindly Shopkeep: Eek! I'm not selling you anything! Help! Guards!
Vania: But why? You have to sell me some fruit! If you don't, Malinda will...
Vania: Please! I need fruits and vegetables! I'm begging you!
Vampires are beings that suck people's blood using their sharp fangs.
Knowing only what they've heard from legends and tall tales, everyone is consumed by fear at the sight of the legendary being before them.
Kindly Shopkeep: Stop! Don't come any closer!
Despite the young girl's desperate pleas, the shopkeep runs away.
Visibly shaken guards march in, taking her place.
Terrified Customer: Ah, you've come! The vampire's over there!
Panicky Guard: C-come quietly, you monster!
Vania: Uunh... But I didn't do anything!
The guards draw their weapons and slowly inch towards the girl.
Lyria: Hey, (Captain)! Aren't you going to help that girl?
Rackam: Wait a minute! If she's really a vampire, you know what that means, right?
Lyria: But it looks like she's in big trouble! If we don't help her, the guards will...
Vyrn: Yeah... Besides, it was kinda my fault she got into this mess.
Rackam: Ergh. You've got a point. All right, let's go, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods and runs toward the girl.
Vania: Wah!
(Captain) grabs the girl's hand and runs through a gap in the crowd.
Panicky Guard: No! Don't let them get away!
Rackam: Yoohoo! Excuse us! Coming through!
Several guards try to block the way, but (Captain) and Rackam slither through.
Panicky Guard: No! After them! After them!
Vyrn: Phew, this should be far enough.
Lyria: Are you all right? You're not hurt, are you?
Vania: Yeah...
Vania: Um, why did you guys help me back there?
Rackam: First of all, you said your name was Vania?
Vania: Yeah...
Vyrn: We helped you because... well...
Vyrn: I bumped into you, and you got in trouble.
Vyrn: So Lyria and (Captain) said we should definitely help you out!
Vania: Why's that?
Rackam: (Captain) and Lyria are too nice to ignore someone in need.
Vania: Hmm. You're really kind.
Vania: Hey! You're good guys, right?
Vania: Um, the truth is, I'm in big trouble.
Vyrn: Oh really?
Vania: If I don't do anything, my friend Malinda might die!
Vyrn: Are you serious?

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 2

Vania is searching for nutritious fruits and vegetables to give to Malinda, but it's no longer safe for her to reenter the town. Her spirits are lifted when the crew offers to help.

(Captain) and company are trying to help a young vampire named Vania.
With a solemn face, she begins to tell her story to the crew.
Vania: My friend Malinda got sick, and I really wanted to make her feel better.
Vania: So I thought I'd go pick her favorite fruits and vegetables.
Vania: But nutritious fruits and vegetables are hard to find on my island.
Lyria: So you came here to buy them?
Vania: Yeah, but...
Vania looks back at the town where the sounds of hysteria can still be heard.
Rackam: Hrm, it's not going to be easy getting back into town. Looks like we can't shop anymore.
Vyrn: Wait, are you saying we can't buy any of those special apples?
Rackam: Hm? Well, yeah, I guess so.
Vyrn: No way...
Rackam: Jeez. What should we do now?
  1. Let's just pick them in the forest!
  2. Well, too bad for Malinda...

Choose: Let's just pick them in the forest!
Rackam: Of course! We'll just gather the fruits and vegetables instead.
Vyrn: Maybe I'll find those apples too!
Vania: Really? You guys are super kind! Heeheehee!
Vania: Oh, but wouldn't that be stealing? We can't take things that aren't ours.

Choose: Well, too bad for Malinda...
Lyria: You're joking, right, (Captain)?
Vania: Uunh, why are you being so mean!
Vyrn: Sorry, I'm sure (Captain) didn't mean it that way.
Lyria: I think everyone on this island just goes to the forest to gather their produce. Why don't we do the same?
Lyria: The apples you want should be there too, Vyrn!
Vyrn: Aha! Then we can look for the apples, and Vania can get her fruits and vegetables!
Vania: Doesn't that mean we're stealing? We can't take things that aren't ours.
Continue 1
Vyrn: Nah, it's not stealing. We're not going to take things grown by other people.
Vania: Oh? I see. Then I guess it's okay.
Rackam: Well, let's go check out the forest first. If it grows in the wild, then it should be fine.
Vyrn: Yep! Problem solved, so cheer up!
Vania: Yeah, you're right. I'm feeling better now!
Rackam: All right! Let's get a move on!
Vania: Yay! I'm gonna give it my all!
Vania: Thanks for the help, um, Lyria! And Rackam. You too, (Captain)!
Vania: Ah, I almost forgot Lizzie!
Vyrn: Oy, I ain't no lizard! My name is Vyrn. Get it right!
Vania: Got it, Vyrnie!
Vyrn: Vyrnie? Just call me Vyrn...
Vania: Humph. Lizzie or Vyrnie! What's it gonna be?
Vyrn: Grrr, I liked her better before she cheered up.
Rackam: Hahaha! I think it's fine, Vyrnie!
Vyrn: Not you too, Rackam! Don't call me that!
The party continues to enjoy their merry conversations as they head into the forest of Torznizza.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 3

While the crew is harvesting fruits and vegetables in the forest, they ask Vania about Malinda. She describes Malinda as lizard-like and compares her to Vyrn, which leaves him fuming.

The party finally reaches the forests of Torznizza, and they get to work harvesting food with Vania.
Vania: Hey, Lizzie!
Vyrn: I told you I ain't no lizard!
Vania: I don't sweat the little things.
Vyrn: Why you little—
Vania: Anyway, hey, you should try this vegetable I just found!
Vyrn: Whoa, never seen that one before. Is it edible?
Vania: That's why you're gonna taste it, Lizzie!
Vyrn: Oh, I see... Wait a sec! Hey, what's the big idea! I ain't no food taster!
Rackam: Haha, seems like you two are getting along nicely!
Vania: Heeheehee! I think it's because he and Malinda are so alike!
Vyrn: I am?
Lyria: What kind of lizard is Malinda?
Vyrn: Oy, Lyria...
Lyria: Oops! Sorry, it just slipped out.
Rackam: Hahaha! But I'm actually kinda interested too.
Vyrn: So, what's Malinda like, Vania?
Vania: Well, Malinda is Malinda!
Rackam: Er, could you be a little more specific? I mean, what does she look like?
Vania: What does she look like? Um, she's pink and chubby!
Rackam: Yeah, I'm not seeing it.
Vyrn: That doesn't sound anything like me!
Vania: Oh, she doesn't talk like Lizzie either. I guess that makes her a little different.
Vyrn: Only a little different? This is getting complicated.
Vania: C'mon, c'mon, break time's over! You need to keep looking for fruit, Lizzie!
Vyrn: Grrr!
Lyria: Now, now, Vania's just having fun, so let's keep looking!
Vyrn: Sigh... All right. Besides, I haven't found my apples yet, so I'm gonna triple my efforts!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 3: Scene 2

Rackam finally spots the apple tree Vyrn desperately seeks, but a monster blocks their path.

Rackam: Oh? Hey, guys, look over there!
(Captain) follows Rackam's gaze and sees an apple tree.
Vyrn: Apples! Just look at the size of those things. And that color... The rumors were true!
Vania: Yeah! They look super delicious!
Vyrn and Vania gleefully head for the tree.
Before they can get far, (Captain) notices something and stops them.
Vyrn: What are you doing? I found them first!
Vania: No! Let me pick those apples!
Monster: Groar!
Vania: Eeek!
Agitated by Vyrn's and Vania's bickering, a monster appears and leaps at Vania.
(Captain) draws their weapon and lands a heavy blow on the monster.
Monster: Grah!
Vania: You protected me from the monster...
(Captain) nods.
Vania: Heeheehee! Thanks!
Monster: Grrrr!
Rackam: Tch, this one's got moxie! Brace yourself, (Captain)!
Vyrn: Argh! Those apples are so close I can taste 'em! Let's finish this quickly!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 3: Scene 3

The party continues harvesting apples while Rackam wonders if there's any truth to the terrible stories told about vampires. Vania's ship is stuck in town, so the crew offers to escort her back to Medvecia in the Grandcypher.

Vyrn: Phew, that's the last of 'em.
Vania: Wow! You're really strong, (Captain)!
Vania: Heeheehee, thanks for protecting me!
Vyrn: C'mon, c'mon, let's get to apple picking!
Vania: Yay! Apples! Apples!
Vania: Help out us, (Captain)!
Lyria: Hehe, it looks like Vania's enjoying herself!
Rackam: Yep. But to think that the vampires of legend actually existed.
Lyria: Oh yeah, now that you mention it, could she really be a vampire?
Lyria: What are the vampires like in the stories?
Rackam: They look like humans or Erunes except they have sharp fangs and bat-like wings on their heads.
Rackam: Compared to humans they're way stronger. They can use magic, and they live for hundreds of years.
Rackam: But the biggest difference is they use their fangs to suck people's blood.
Lyria: No way!
Rackam: Plus when a person is bitten, they become the vampire's underling.
Rackam: Though, it might just be an exaggeration. No one's seen a real vampire, after all.
Lyria: But she has wings coming out of her head...
Rackam: Yeah, and if you look closely, you can see she has fangs.
Rackam: She doesn't look like a goblin or emdina, so she probably is a vampire.
Lyria: Does that mean she'll drink our blood if she gets hungry?
Rackam: I don't know. We're gathering fruits and vegetables for this unknown friend of hers, so who can say?
While Vyrn and (Captain) remain blissfully unaware of their precarious situation, Rackam and Lyria keep a watchful eye on Vania.
With the apples harvested, the party carries on searching the forest for other fruits and vegetables.
The harvest is a huge success, yielding a large bounty of natural goodness.
Lyria: Hehe, we picked so much!
Vania: Malinda's gonna get better in no time!
Vania: Thank you so much, everyone! I'll be going back now!
Rackam: Don't mention it! Have a safe trip!
Vania gathers up all the fruits and vegetables she can carry and turns away from the crew.
She takes a few steps before stopping dead in her tracks.
Vania: Actually, how am I supposed to get home?
Rackam: Huh? You don't know how to get back?
Vania: Well, I rode on an airship from Medvecia.
Vania: The ship's still in the port, but I can't go back into town, right?
Vania: There are regular patrols around my island too, so I had to sneak out to come here.
Vyrn: It'd be tough to go through that again.
Rackam: If that's the case, why don't we give you a lift?
Vyrn: Yeah! Our ship's docked somewhere else, so we won't have to head back into town!
Vania: Are you sure?
(Captain) nods at Vania.
Rackam: Well, we've already come this far. Might as well see it through to the end!
Vyrn: Plus I want to meet this friend of yours who's just like me!
Vania: Heeheehee! You guys are super nice. Thanks for taking me!
Lyria: Hehe, you're welcome! Okay, let's head back to our ship!
And so the crew sets off for Medvecia to bring Vania home.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 1: A Girl by the Name of Vania - Episode 4

When the Grandcypher lands on the eerie island of Medvecia, the crew is bathed in a beam of light for just an instant. Afterwards, they meet a boy in the forest who resembles Vania but bears intense hostility towards them.

The crew leads Vania back to the Grandcypher.
Her eyes light up with wonder when she sees the interior of the ship.
Vania: Wow! Amazing! I've never seen a ship this huge before!
Rackam: Heh, pretty impressive, ain't it? The Grandcypher's a ship you can be proud of!
Vania: You don't say! The view's really pretty too!
Vania: ...
Vania: Say, you guys...
Vania: Will you be my friends?
Lyria: Hehe, of course we'll be your friends!
Vania: Heeheehee! I've made so many new friends! This is great!
Vania: You guys aren't just kind. You're open-minded too.
Vania: It'd be great if all the other vampires were more open-minded...
Rackam: Hm? What was that?
Vania: Ah, nothing! Nothing at all! Oh, look! It's my island!
Rackam: Oh, you're right! I wonder what kind of—
Rackam looks at the mist-shrouded island that Vania is pointing to and frowns.
Rackam: Uh, Vania? That island looks seriously creepy. Are you sure that's the right one?
Vania: Yep! We're here! See, there's our beautiful castle!
Rackam: Castle?
The crew stares intently at the island until the silhouette of an ancient castle slowly breaks through the fog.
Lyria: Well, it's a pretty castle, but it's also kind of scary-looking.
Vyrn: There's no point in hanging around here and gabbing. Let's land already!
With a nod from (Captain), the Grandcypher prepares to land.
With the Grandcypher moored, Vania gathers up her fruits and nimbly leaps to the ground.
Vania: All right, follow me! I'll show you the way to Malinda!
Vania: Come on, everyone! Grab your fruits and let's go!
Vania laughs and takes off for the forest.
Rackam: Hey, wait a sec! Yeesh, she's fast. We've got to hurry and catch up to her!
Lyria: Oh... This island's even scarier now that we're down here.
Suddenly, they are bathed in a beam of light.
Vyrn: Ack, it's so bright! What's going on?
Lyria: ...!
In an instant, the beam of light emanating from the castle disappears just as suddenly as it appeared.
Lyria: That light...
Rackam: It came from one of the castle towers. I wonder if it was a searchlight.
Vyrn: What, are they trying to threaten us?
Rackam: Wait, I can't see Vania at all anymore! Lyria! Did you see where she went?
Lyria: Yes! Straight into the forest!
Rackam: Got it! After her, (Captain)!
The crew hurries into the forest and runs into Vania almost immediately.
Her mouth is pursed, cheeks puffing out; the look of displeasure is evident on her face.
Vania: Slowpokes! I was getting tired of waiting for you!
Vyrn: It's 'cause you took off!
Vania: Humph! I told you to follow me, didn't I?
As Vyrn and Vania continue to quarrel, a young boy appears from the shadow of a tree.
???: Is that you Vania? You're finally back—
???: Mortals!
Rackam: This guy's got wings too... So vampires really do exist.
???: Vania! Why did you bring mortals here? Get away from them at once!
Vyrn: Whoa!
Sensing the boy's bloodlust, (Captain) steps in front of Lyria and Vyrn to protect them.
The tense confrontation between (Captain) and the boy is on the verge of exploding.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 1

The hostile boy turns out to be Vania's younger brother, Veight, who dislikes mortals as much as all the other vampires. In deference to his older sister, he agrees to take the party to see Malinda.

Vania: What's your problem, you jerk!
???: Oof!
In an effort to diffuse the situation, Vania pounces on the boy and starts pinching his cheek with all her might.
???: Ow! Vania! Stop—
Vania: Don't be so rude to my friends!
???: Friends? Ow, stop pinching me!
Lyria: Um, I wonder what's going on...
Rackam: Don't ask me.
Rackam: Hey, Vania. Is this vampire a friend of yours too?
Vania: Huh? Can't you tell by looking at us?
Vania: This is my little brother, Veight.
Rackam: Little brother? Now that mention it, you two do kinda look alike. I guess.
Vania: Yeah, but I'm way cuter, of course!
Veight: Enough already! Let me go!
Vania: You're not going to be rude anymore, are you? These are my friends! Right, you guys?
Lyria: Yes! We're friends of Vania!
Veight: Have you lost your mind? They're mortals.
Vania: So what? Are you going to lecture me about the laws again?
Veight: You and I belong to a long line of vampires, proud and strong. We should respect the old ways and adhere to the laws.
Veight: We're in enough trouble as it is without your dangerous behavior making things worse!
Vania: I don't know what you're talking about.
Veight: Vania!
Vania: Let's go! Just ignore him!
Veight: Wait, where are you going now?
Vania: We're going to go see Malinda!
Veight: I see. Then allow me to guide you there. That way I can keep an eye on you.
Lyria: You want to keep an eye on us?
Veight: Your presence here is heresy to us vampires.
Veight: If you were to go into town, it would cause an uproar.
Veight: I'm sure you'd rather not be surrounded by vampires.
Rackam: Yeah, that's for sure.
Veight: Obviously, it would be better if you left this island altogether.
Veight: However, I'd rather not incur Vania's wrath again. I won't press the issue any further.
Veight: On the other hand, I can't have you people running around on your own either. Therefore, I will be your guide. Fair enough, Vania?
Vania: Humph, fine. Just don't get us lost!
Veight: Good grief.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 1: Scene 2

Vania realizes that Veight is guiding them down the wrong path. Veight declares he has no interest in babysitting weaklings and has led the crew into a den of enraged monsters.

Vania: Hey, Veight! You're totally lost, aren't you?
Veight: No, this is the right way.
Vania: Nuh-uh, this is definitely wrong! All the scary monsters live out here.
Veight: Mm-hmm, that's right. That's why we came here.
Rackam: What did you say?
Veight: I know what I said back there, but I'm afraid I can't allow our laws to be broken.
Veight: If you can't defeat the monsters of this island, then you have no business being here.
Veight: I won't be protecting you either. Prove to me that you can survive on your own.
Rackam: You liar! This was your plan from the beginning!
Veight: Humph, I wouldn't mind if the monsters devoured you right here though.
Veight: Farewell. Perhaps we shall meet again.
Monster: Grrr!
Vyrn: Darn it! We've got no choice! Let's do it, (Captain)!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 1: Scene 3

Vania reprimands Veight for his mistreatment of her friends, but he claims to be simply following the laws of the vampires. With the crew's strength proven, Veight leads them to the cave where Malinda resides.

Vania: Veight! Why did you do such a mean thing!
Veight: The laws must be abided by, and our customs must be followed. If they wish to enter this island, they will need to show their ability to survive.
Vania: That's your excuse for being so mean to my friends?
Veight: It's clearly decreed in our laws. If we concern ourselves with those without power, we could endanger ourselves.
Veight: This is for their sake as well as ours, Vania.
Vania: Uunh... But...
Rackam: Hey! You can't get rid of us that easily, kid!
Vania: You made it! I'm so sorry. I never meant for this to happen.
Veight: Oho.
Vania: That's enough, Veight! If you don't show us the right way, then I'm never speaking to you again!
Rackam: Well, I think I can see where he's coming from, somehow.
Rackam: But isn't Vania's friend Malinda in danger? Let us help her friend out.
Lyria: That's right! Won't you please show us the way to Malinda?
Veight: You've demonstrated your strength as the law requires. Very well, follow me.
Lyria: Are you really going to show us the right way this time?
Veight: Yes, of course. I swear by my blood.
Rackam: Sheesh. This guy's a real weirdo.
Vania: I know, right? Veight's such a dummy!
Veight: Good grief.
The party still has doubts about Veight's sincerity, but follows him anyway.
Before long, they arrive at the entrance of a gloomy cave.
Vyrn: I knew it. He's brought us to another monster den.
Vania: Nope! We're here! Malinda's just inside!
Rackam: Wait, Vania! I said wait!
With a feeling of dread in their hearts, the party follows Vania into the cave.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 2

Vania is determined to leave the island again to gather more food for Malinda, but Veight tries to get her to reconsider. As the two siblings quarrel, an imposing vampire appears before them.

The party continues through the dark cave until they reach an area lit by lanterns.
They see a pink dragon lying in a wide clearing next to a beautiful spring.
Vania: Malinda! I'm home!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania: Hey, don't move around so much! You're still sick, remember?
Malinda: Gyooo...
Lyria: That's Malinda?
Rackam: I gotta say it does look like Vyrn.
Vyrn: Really? I don't have such a goofy look on my face!
Vyrn: Still, I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like we have some kind of connection.
Vania: Look, Malinda, look! We brought tons of fruits and vegetables for you!
Malinda: Gyoo? Gyoo!
Lyria: Hm, I guess it's happy?
Vania: Yep! She's super happy! Right, Malinda?
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania: Wah!
Malinda lets out a squeal and wraps her long tongue around the pile of fruits and vegetables.
Malinda: Slurp.
With one pull of her tongue, the pile of food disappears into her mouth.
Malinda: Gulp.
Malinda: G-gyoo? Gyooyoo...
Vania: What's wrong? Are you okay?
Veight: If I swallowed that much food all at once, I'd have trouble breathing too.
Vania: Huh? Oh no, what should I do? Veight, help!
Veight: Must I do everything? Give her water from the spring!
The crew hurriedly draws water from the spring and makes Malinda drink it.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Vania: Thank goodness! Looks like her throat's all cleared now!
Vania: How is it, Malinda? Feeling better?
Malinda: Gyoo. Gyoo, gyoo...
Rackam: She's still not completely better, it seems.
Vania: But why? It's not fair! Why does she have to be in so much pain?
Vyrn: Say, I don't think she's sick. I think we just gotta wait for her to digest it all.
Rackam: That makes sense. That was a pretty big meal just now.
Malinda: Gyoo. Burp.
Vyrn: See? Her stomach's getting smaller!
Vania: Whoa, that's amazing! Can you understand what Malinda's saying, Lizzie?
Vyrn: Hm? Not really, it's just a feeling I get.
Veight: Well, they're both reptiles, so they probably think along the same lines.
Vyrn: Ugh! I ain't no reptile!
Rackam: Calm down, let's save it for later. Do you think she'll recover if we fill her up?
Vania: That's it! Then we'd better go back and pick some more!
Veight: Hold it, Vania. Do you still plan on traveling to the outside world?
Vania: Why? You gonna stop me? I'm definitely not going to listen to you!
Veight: Forget about that thing already! Do you have any idea what kind of problems we have on this island?
Veight: It fills everyone with anxiety when they see you flouting the laws so freely!
Vania: I don't know anything about that! Malinda is more important to me than this island or anyone else!
Veight: How can you say that, Vania?
Vania: Your shouting doesn't scare me! Stupid Veight!
Vyrn: Sigh. They're gonna start beating each other up if we don't do something.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Lyria: Veight said this island has problems. I wonder what he meant by that.
Rackam: Who knows? First, we'd better pull these two apart before they hurt themselves.
While the party steps in to break up the quarreling siblings, (Captain) senses a presence behind them.
Turning around, the crew sees a grey-haired man with a stern countenance.
???: I had a feeling today would bring trouble. What's the meaning of this?
With a sharp glint in his eye, his authoritative voice instantly cuts through the tension.
Veight: W-what are you doing here?
???: Before you ask me that, would you mind telling me why there are mortals here?
Veight: Please forgive me!
Vyrn: Huh? What's so great about this old guy?
Veight: Silence! How dare you speak in such a uncouth manner! This is—
???: It doesn't matter. Tell me the situation. Now.
Veight: Yes, sir!
Vania: You need to hear my side of the story too!
Vania and Veight explain the events leading up to the current situation.
As the man listens to their explanation, the chill in the air seems to grow colder, and the crew's anxiety continues to build.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 3

The vampire introduces himself as Feldrac, ruler of Medvecia. He allows Vania to leave the island in order to keep her away from the other vampires, and he commands Veight to keep an eye on the crew.

The authoritative man stands before the party. Veight and Vania explain the chain of events that brought the crew to the island.
After the two finish their explanation, the man gives a firm nod.
???: I see. In other words, these mortals saved Vania from other mortals, helped her with the harvest, and then brought her back to Medvecia.
???: Is that correct?
Vania: Yep, that's right! They were really kind to me!
???: Hmm, these are certainly eccentric mortals to come to the aid of our brethren.
???: Mortals.
Rackam: What is it?
???: There's no need to raise your guard. I'm not going to eat you.
Feldrac: My name is Feldrac. I am the ruler of Medvecia.
Vyrn: So that makes you the king of the vampires?
Feldrac: Strictly speaking, that's incorrect, but you may think of me as such if you wish.
Vania: He's also our father!
Lyria: What? Is that so?
Feldrac: I simply look after them. We aren't related by blood.
Feldrac: But let us return to the matter at hand.
Feldrac: Mortals. Although you are viewed as aberrations, you came to the aid of one of our own. That is commendable.
With an air of dignity, Feldrac brings his right hand up to the left side of his chest.
Veight: Feldrac! Think about what you're doing! These are mortals you're addressing!
Lyria: ...?
Veight: How can you, as the head of the vampires, even consider doing such a thing?
Feldrac: I see your point.
He slowly lowers his right arm back to his side.
Vania: ...
Rackam: Huh? What was that all about?
Feldrac: You need not concern yourself with such matters. Now, I will tell you why I came here.
Feldrac: I came to check on Malinda's condition. It would be troublesome if something were to happen to her.
Veight: It'd be better if you just forgot about her. Her very existence goes against our laws.
Malinda: Groo...
Feldrac: Indeed. However, Malinda's life is in Vania's hands.
Feldrac: To banish her now, after all this time, would be to turn our backs on our word.
Veight: Yes, but what about the laws...
Feldrac: Hmm...
Vania: Oh yeah! Hey, Feldrac!
Vania: I've been trying to help Malinda, you know.
Vania: I went through all this trouble to gather up all these fruits and vegetables.
Vania: But then Veight keeps getting in my way! You should yell at him!
Veight: What! That's because you have no respect for our laws, and you're trying to leave for the outside world again!
Veight: Not to mention you brought mortals to our very island!
Feldrac: Cease this prattling, both of you!
Veight: Ugh.
Vania: Nyah.
Feldrac: Why do you still need to harvest more food?
Rackam: Ah, it seems this dragon still hasn't gotten her fill yet.
Lyria: We planned to go with Vania to help her get more fruit.
Feldrac: Oho, despite the differences between us, you're still concerned about Vania.
Feldrac: Very well. Vania, I give you permission to return to the outside world.
Veight: What? How could you take her side?
Feldrac: However, you must act together with these mortals at all times.
Vania: Okay, got it! Thanks, Feldrac!
Vyrn: Hehe! This old guy sure is understanding!
Vania: That's right! If only a certain someone could be more like that, hmm?
Veight: Grrr...
Veight: Feldrac! Why are you allowing this?
Feldrac: Veight, step outside.
Feldrac: Vania, it's time for you and the mortals to leave.
Feldrac: Take care not to let anyone see you on your way out.
Vania: Okay!
Satisfied with her answer, Feldrac and Veight leave the cave.
Rackam: Phew. Feldrac's a scary looking guy, but he's surprisingly nice.
Vania: Mm-hmm! Feldrac's got a scary face, but he's really just a big softie!
Vania: Everyone, including Veight, wanted to chase Malinda away.
Vania: Only Feldrac agreed with me and let her stay in secret. Right, Malinda?
Malinda: Grooo!
Vyrn: I see! Just like people, you can't judge a vampire by their looks either!
Vyrn: All right! Let's go get more stuff for Malinda!
Vania: We'll be back with lots of good stuff for you to eat as soon as we can!
Malinda: Gururu... Groo!
Vyrn: Hehe! See you soon, Malinda!
Vania: We'll be back before you know it!
Malinda plods over to the entrance of the cave and waves goodbye to the party.
Feldrac: Veight, I assume you're familiar with the current state of Medvecia.
Veight: Yes, I understand the situation. I'm also aware that emotions are running high.
Feldrac: Then I shall speak frankly. I let Vania leave because I wanted to avoid confrontation.
Feldrac: Sheltering Malinda and flouting our laws only serve to fan the flames of unrest among the citizens.
Veight: I see. By letting her leave the island...
Feldrac: Correct. Until I can settle this tumult, I want her to appear before the subjects as little as possible.
Veight: Still, I think it's dangerous to leave Vania with those mortals.
Feldrac: That's where you come in. You shall travel with the mortals and watch their every move.
Feldrac: If they bring any harm to Vania, you may take appropriate measures against them.
Veight: Understood. I will follow your orders.
Feldrac: Veight. I have one last thing to say.
Veight: What is it?
Feldrac: The outside world is vast. If there's anything that catches your eye, I give you permission to seek it out.
Veight: I'm grateful for your consideration. However, my life belongs to Medvecia, and it is here where it shall end.
Veight: Therefore, knowledge of matters pertaining to the outside world is unnecessary. I need only focus on the task at hand.
Feldrac: I see. I leave it to you then.
With his orders given, Feldrac turns and leaves.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 4

Returning back to town, Feldrac receives word that another vampire has been attacked, which adds to the unease of the citizens. Meanwhile, in the forest of Torznizza, Veight reveals that Vania—much to her displeasure—is the princess of Medvecia.

Vampire: Feldrac! Where have you been?
Feldrac: That's none of your concern. What's the matter?
Vampire: It's happened again. One of our brethren has been...
A wounded vampire lies motionless near the grieving vampire.
Feldrac: Another one. Who would do such a thing?
Vampire: Honestly! Why are the laws constantly being ignored?
Vampire: Where is Vania? Don't tell me she's with that accursed dragon again.
Feldrac: Yes. Once that accursed dragon has fully recuperated, it will be released back into the wild as I've promised.
Feldrac: Until then she has my permission to care for it.
Vampire: How could you permit such heresy? Taking care of that thing at a time like this...
Vampire: It makes one wonder if Veight weren't more fit to rule.
Vampire: And to think, our troubles started when that detestable dragon hatched, and Vania decided to care for it.
Feldrac: I'll not suffer this ridiculous gossip, you fool! Know that you're speaking ill of Vania, the princess of this country.
Feldrac: Your words will be taken as an insult.
Vampire: My deepest apologies, Feldrac.
Shriek: Aaaah!
Feldrac: ...!
Vampire: No, not again!
Meanwhile, Vania and the crew arrive once more at Torznizza Forest.
Vania: Hmm... I think Malinda's already tried everything here.
Rackam: Hm? Are you saying we can't pick the same stuff as before?
Vania: Yep! You'd want to try out new things too, wouldn't you, Rackam?
Rackam: You've got that right! All righty then! Let's find some new fruits to pick!
Vania: Okay! Here we go!
Veight: ...
Vania: Why did you follow us all the way here? Were you feeling lonely?
Veight: Humph. This isn't a social visit, Vania.
Veight: I'm only here on Feldrac's orders to keep an eye on these mortals.
Vania: Boo! That Feldrac! If only he'd command you to help us out.
Vyrn: Hey, so how come you two act so differently with Feldrac?
Vania: Different? Veight's just too formal, that's all.
Veight: Please, it's just that you're too relaxed, Vania.
Rackam: Well, you think of him as a father figure, right? I don't think you need to speak so formally to him if that's the case.
Veight: It's only natural to pay respect to one's father. That too is set out in vampire law.
Vania: Laws, laws, laws! You're just as thick-headed as everyone else, Veight!
Veight: And all you do is violate them. Don't you understand your position?
Lyria: Her position?
Veight: Vania is the princess of Medvecia.
Vyrn: Whoa! That's the first I've heard of it!
Rackam: Then what's Feldrac's role in all this? He said he isn't the king.
Veight: Since Vania's still too young to take the throne, he's governing the country in her stead.
Rackam: I see. Why didn't you tell us you're a princess, Vania?
Vania: I just didn't want to.
Lyria: But why?
Vania: I refuse to be the princess of a country like this!
Veight: Vania!
Vania: Wah! Don't yell at me! I'm gonna ignore you and go look for more fruits!
Vyrn: Ack! Okay, I'm coming! Let go of my tail!
Veight: Sigh. Does she not understand the crisis befalling our island?
Rackam: Hey, Veight, can I ask you something?
Veight: Okay.
Rackam: You keep mentioning these problems with the island.
Rackam: Just what exactly is happening on Medvecia?
Veight: I have no obligation to tell you mortals. What would that accomplish?
Rackam: Yeah, you're right. For a minute there I forgot who I was talking to.
Veight: Humph.
Vania: Hey, you guys! Just ignore Veight and come help me look for food!
Veight: Look, she's calling for you. You don't want to keep her waiting.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 2: Tangled Doubts - Episode 4: Scene 2

The crew mentions that they'd seen a bright light when they first landed on Medvecia, but Vania and Veight reassure them that no bright lights exist on the island. Back at Medvecia, another victim has been found, and witnesses catch a glimpse of what looks like (Captain).

The party makes its way into the heart of the forest while defeating monsters that block its path.
Before long, they come across an area with no signs of monsters and begin their search.
After a short while, (Captain) discovers a wide patch of various fruits.
Vania: Wow! This is awesome! You've got a real knack for fruit-finding!
Vania: (Captain) is strong, kind, and a master at sniffing out fruits!
Vania: Say, (Captain), won't you become my bloodkin? C'mon, you'll do it, won't you?
Vyrn: What's a bloodkin?
Vania: Well, it's someone who always listens to a request, no matter what!
Vania: You see, when a vampire bites a person, they become their bloodkin and have to do whatever the vampire says!
Vania: So when you become my bloodkin, you'll belong to me!
Lyria: Oh, so that's how it works.
Lyria: Ah, no wait! We can't let that happen! Run away, (Captain)!
Vania: Heehee, don't be afraid! It's just a little sting!
  1. Bring it on!
  2. Help me!

Choose: Bring it on!
(Captain) nods enthusiastically and bares their neck.
Vania: Wow, how daring! All right, here come the fangs!
Lyria: Aaah! Stop, stop, stop! Get away from (Captain)!
Rackam: You idiot! Put up more of a fight, (Captain)!

Choose: Help me!
Vania: Heh heh heh. Yes, beg for your life! These fangs are coming for you!
Rackam: Isn't (Captain) begging already? Just stop it! Leave (Captain) alone!
Lyria: Eeek! Please get away from (Captain)!
Continue 1
Vania: Grrr. Don't get in my way! Otherwise...
Vania: I'll make you all my bloodkin! Roar!
Vyrn: Ack! No, please!
Veight: What's with all the yelling and screaming?
Vania: Oh, wanna join in too, Veight?
Veight: Who's joining who? You do know that increasing the number of bloodkin is prohibited by law.
Rackam: Are you all right? You look a bit pale.
Veight: It seems I still need some time to get used to the sunlight in the outside world.
Lyria: Is it tough to be in the sun?
Veight: It's not just sunlight that we're weak against; any intense light will suffice.
Vyrn: But Vania seems fine.
Veight: That's because she's odd.
Vania: Hey! You know what happens when you say mean things like that? Pinches!
Veight: S-stop! I don't have the strength to put up a fight—ow!
Vyrn: I really can't tell if they get along or not.
Rackam: Hold on. You said vampires don't do well in strong light.
Rackam: Then what's with the searchlight coming from the castle tower?
Vania: Searchlight? I don't think we have anything like that in our castle.
Veight: Yes, there are no searchlights in any of the towers.
Vyrn: But the last time we landed on the island, we got hit by this super bright light. Remember, Lyria?
Lyria: ...
Lyria: Are you really not going to tell us what's happening in Medvecia, Veight?
Veight: Why?
Lyria: Well, I thought it was just my imagination.
Lyria: But something you said makes me wonder if it wasn't.
Veight: Get to the point. What are you trying to say?
Lyria: When we were hit by that light, it was only for an instant, but I felt the presence of a primal beast.
Rackam: Are you serious? Why did you keep something that important to yourself?
Lyria: I'm sorry. The presence disappeared as soon as the light disappeared, so I thought I was mistaken.
Vania: What's a primal beast?
Veight: They're beings from legends and fairy tales, though I fail to see what this has to do with us.
Lyria: If there's a primal beast on Medvecia, that could be the source of your problems. We can help you.
Rackam: I guess you could say we've got business with these primals.
Vania: Hmm? What're you guys talking about? Ooh, I hate difficult topics like this!
(Captain) gives Vania and Veight a brief summary of their journey and explains Lyria's power.
Veight: I see. You possess the power to stop primal beasts.
Veight: Of course, you could be lying. Well, fine, I'll tell you. I can't rule out the possibility that you're telling the truth.
Veight: Our brethren are being killed right now on Medvecia.
Rackam: This guy's rather tense.
Veight: No one has seen it clearly, but the perpetrator appears to use bats and strikes from the shadows.
Veight: I don't know if you're aware of this, but only vampires live on Medvecia.
Veight: Naturally, that led us to believe that the perpetrator was a vampire, and the whole island was searched.
Lyria: So that's the problem...
Veight: According to our laws and customs, simply harming one of our own—let alone killing one—is a serious offense!
Veight: Because of these repeated incidents, the people are afraid and have come to distrust one another.
Veight: What you're saying is hard to believe, but I would much rather these be the deeds of a primal beast.
Veight: Maybe then the anxiety of the citizens would dissipate, even if just a little.
Vyrn: I never would've guessed that your island would have such a big problem.
Vania: Um, are you guys done talking about serious stuff? Let's get back to looking for fruits and vegetables already.
Veight: Vania, this conversation concerns you too.
Vania: I'm not listening to any of that.
Vyrn: Ah, hey! Wait, Vania!
Veight: Let's hurry, before we lose sight of her.
Lyria: Right!
Vampire: Are you all right? Say something!
Feldrac: Enough. We're too late.
Vampire: Why? Why are they doing this to us? Damn it all!
Feldrac: Don't offer up your resentment. Pray for this soul to find peace.
Vampire: I understand. My brethren, may you rest peacefully—
Vampire: Wait, Feldrac! This one's wound is different from the others!
Feldrac: What?
Feldrac: Yes, you're right. There's no way a vampire could inflict such a wound.
Feldrac and the vampire continue examining the wound when they hear the suspicious sound of footsteps.
Vampire: Who's there?
???: ...
Vampire: Huh? Are those mortals? Wait!
Feldrac: It can't be! Why are those people here?

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 3: Light, Shine! Shadow, Creep! - Episode 1

As the party continues through the woods, the vampires explain the symbolism behind the gesture Feldrac showed them in the cave. Once again, they get into a fight, but Veight's mood suddenly changes.

The party heads deeper into the forest to continue collecting fruits and vegetables.
Veight and Vania don't say a single word, which creates a tense atmosphere.
Rackam is unable to bear the silence any longer and has to say something.
Rackam: By the way, what was that thing your old man did in the cave? You know, that arm thing?
Lyria: Y-yeah, after he thanked us, he put his hand to his chest.
Rackam: Right, right. And then Veight told him to stop it
Veight: ...
Vania: Oh, that? I think it's like a greeting or something.
Rackam: Just a greeting? Why would Veight try so hard to stop a greeting?
Veight: You mortals would only misconstrue our gestures as vulgarities.
Vania: Hmm, I don't really know much about it.
Vania: Isn't it something we do to be polite? And lowering your head makes it extra polite!
Veight: Even among fellow vampires, we must only bow to our superiors. It's another tenet of the old ways.
Vania: Sigh. You really love the old laws and customs, don't you? Don't you ever get tired of them?
Veight: Listen, Vania. The only one that breaks laws and doesn't follow the old ways is you.
Vania: Grrr...
Lyria: Uh, hey, take a look over there!
Lyria: There are a lot of delicious-looking fruits growing over there!
Vyrn: Whoa! They do look delicious! And there are so many of them!
Vania: Yay! C'mon, let's get going!
Veight: ...
Lyria: Veight, won't you come with us?
Veight: Humph, I'm not here to make friends. I'm simply here to keep watch.
Veight: Speaking of which, I suggest you be more vigilant of your surroundings.
(Captain) suddenly notices the monsters gathering around them.
Veight: Hey, mortals. Ready your weapons.
Veight: You'll have to answer to me if you let anything happen to Vania!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 3: Light, Shine! Shadow, Creep! - Episode 1: Scene 2

Vania is tired of seeing her brethren become victims and vows to take out the primal beast that may be the culprit. They need to enter Medvecia's castle to be sure, but entry is strictly forbidden.

With the monsters defeated, the party gathers up what it can and prepares to return to Medvecia.
Vania: Heeheehee! Look at how much we picked!
Rackam: Oh boy, we grabbed so much that even the Grandcypher might have trouble carrying it all.
Veight: This should be more than enough to fill up Malinda.
Vania: What are you looking so proud of yourself for? In the end, you didn't lift a finger!
Veight: I was given orders by Feldrac, and I don't go against orders. That's also a law, is it not?
Vania: There you go again! You're the worst, Veight! Why don't you go somewhere else!
Veight: Sigh.
Veight, with a clouded look on his face, moves away from the group.
Vyrn: Hmm... that was one heavy sigh.
Rackam: Looks like these laws and customs are really important to vampires.
Vania: What a dummy. I'm really starting to hate him.
Rackam: Now, now, can't you try to understand his side a little?
Vania: Oh, so you want to perish too, Rackam?
Rackam: W-what? Where did you get that from?
Vania: I'm a vampire, and vampires drink blood. Isn't that what they say about us?
Lyria: That's what it seems like, but you don't plan on drinking (Captain)'s blood and making (Captain) your bloodkin, do you Vania?
Vania: ...?
Vania: I haven't bitten (Captain) yet, but (Captain)'s already my bloodkin.
Lyria: Huh? Is that true, (Captain)?
Rackam: Don't worry, Lyria. The princess is just being stubborn.
Vania: Ooh, just you wait! I'm definitely going to drink (Captain)'s blood someday and make (Captain) a proper bloodkin!
Rackam: I got it, I got it. So, why do vampires drink blood anyway?
Vania: Uh, actually we've stopped drinking blood.
Lyria: Why did you stop drinking blood?
Vania: Well, a king from a long time ago said our powers were too strong.
Vania: Whenever we met other people, we'd always attack them, even over the little things.
Vania: That's when we chose to hide from the outside world.
Vania: So we confined ourselves to Medvecia. It seems we decided to slowly let ourselves die out.
Vania: Those with power spend their lives just worrying about dying with pride and honor.
Rackam: I see. Compared to us, vampires have completely different values.
Vania: Right? It's totally strange, isn't it? There's no way I'll perish like that!
Vyrn: What's up with that? So those guys live for the sake of pride.
Rackam: You know, I can see why you hate the vampire ways but...
Vyrn: Do you really not care about what happens to the island? You're the princess, aren't you?
Vania: Uunh...
Vania: Honestly, though, I really want to do something to help.
Vania: They're a bunch of stubborn old vampires who are obsessed with laws and customs.
Vania: But even so, I don't hate Veight or Feldrac or any of the others.
Lyria: Vania...
Lyria: In that case, let's work together!
Vania: Hm? But what should we do?
Rackam: It might be that the problems in Medvecia are being caused by a primal beast.
Vania: Aha! Then all we need to do is take care of this primal beast!
Rackam: Oh, you're one step ahead of us, Vania! Let's take out the primal beast!
Vyrn: When we were hit by that light from the tower, that's when you felt it, right?
Lyria: Yes, if we go to the castle, I'm sure we can confirm—
Veight: Wait. There's no way you're thinking about heading into the castle.
Vania: Why not? We need to take out the primal beast in order to save everyone!
Veight: Absolutely not! Even among vampires, that's a sacred building that only a select few may enter!
Veight: Mortals may never be allowed to enter, no matter what the circumstances may be!
Rackam: All right, all right. You don't have to yell like that.
Veight: It simply can't be allowed. Under no circumstances, Vania.
Vania: No fair!
With the mood soured by another fight between Veight and Vania, the party boards the Grandcypher to return to Medvecia.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 3: Light, Shine! Shadow, Creep! - Episode 2

Arriving back at Medvecia, Veight suddenly runs from the Grandcypher. Supposing that another attack has occurred, Vania runs after him, followed by the crew. As they run off, they are spotted by a vampire.

The Grandcypher soon arrives back in Medvecia, and the crew gets busy unloading cargo.
Veight: ...!
Rackam: Hm? What is it, Veight?
Veight, clearly agitated, dashes off without answering.
Vania: Whatever! Come on, let's get back to Malinda!
Vyrn: Uh, are you sure this is okay?
Vyrn: There's something attacking vampires on this island. If Veight ran off like that, maybe it means something bad happened...
Vania: ...
Lyria: Ah! Please wait, Vania!
The crew takes off after her.
Unbeknownst to them, they are spotted by a vampire.
Vampire: Is that Vania with mortals?

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 3: Light, Shine! Shadow, Creep! - Episode 3

Veight arrives at the scene of the crime where (Captain) and company are said to have been seen. After he explains that the cause of the incidents may be due to a primal beast, a bright light can be seen shining from the castle tower.

Veight eventually arrives in town where the citizenry are in an uproar.
Veight: What's wrong? What happened?
Vampire: It's happened again.
Veight: No!
Feldrac: That's not the only problem.
Vampire: The mortals! The mortals have turned their blades on us!
Veight: What?
Feldrac: I saw them with my own eyes as well. The figure that fled resembled those people.
Veight: But I've been keeping watch over them this entire time!
Veight: Not only that, but we only just arrived back on the island!
Feldrac: It's as you say, which makes this all the more perplexing.
Veight: ...
Veight: Feldrac, while I was keeping watch over these mortals, they said something that may help explain these incidents.
Feldrac: Oh? Report.
Veight: The blue-haired girl said there may be a primal beast on this island.
Feldrac: Hmm. The creations of the Astrals? And it's here on Medvecia?
Veight: Yes. According to the mortals, it may be the cause of these incidents.
Veight: They claim to have the power to defeat primal beasts.
Vampire: That's what they say, but it all sounds too convenient.
Vampire: It's just like mortals to come up with fairy tales. I see no reason to believe them.
Feldrac: There's truth in your words.
Feldrac: However, we can't discount the possibility. To the mortals, we are merely the beings of legends. Yet here we stand.
Feldrac: Primal beasts exist in our legends as well. It's entirely possible that such a beast now resides on this island.
Vampire: However, if we allow the mortals to defeat the primal beast, who's to say they won't turn on us?
Feldrac: Hmm. We need to treat these matters delicately. First, we should listen to what the mortals have to say—
Stroking his chin thoughtfully, Feldrac mutters to himself when something from the ancient castle catches his attention.
A bright light shines from one of its towers.
Feldrac: What is that?
Veight: That must be the light they were talking about!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 3: Light, Shine! Shadow, Creep! - Episode 4

Vania and the crew finish feeding Malinda when they notice a light coming from outside the cave. They exit the cave to find a huge stone golem growing from the shadow cast by the light.

When the party arrives at the cave, Malinda is already at the entrance ready to greet them.
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania: We're back! Look, Malinda! We got so many fruits!
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoo!
Malinda seems pleased and follows the crew into the cave.
Malinda struggles onto her bed and gleefully eats the fruit that the party brought her.
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo.
Vyrn: She's full! She's going to be okay!
Vania: Really? That's great news! Your pain's all gone!
Malinda: Gyoo... gyoo...
Vania: Wah! What's wrong, Malinda?
Malinda: Snore...
Lyria: She fell asleep.
Vyrn: I'd be sleeping too if I ate that much.
Rackam: Haha, so when she's hungry she acts as if she's ill, and when she's full, she falls asleep! She just does as she pleases, huh?
Vania: Hehe, that's what makes Malinda so cute!
The party enjoys the peaceful moment, when suddenly a dim light appears from the cave entrance.
Lyria: ...!
The light quickly grows in intensity.
Lyria: I can feel it! That light has to be coming from a primal beast!
Rackam: You serious? Hurry up, (Captain), let's go!
Vania: Ah, wait up! I'm coming too!
Vania: You wait here, Malinda!
Malinda: Snore...
The party exits the cave to see if the light is coming from the castle.
Rackam: It's just as we thought. It must be inside the castle!
Lyria: Yes! I can feel a huge power coming from the castle...
Vyrn: Lyria, what's wrong?
Lyria's words trail off as she watches the light hit a huge rock and cast a long shadow.
The shadow seems to come to life, undulating and bubbling as it gradually takes form.
Rackam: What is that thing? A shadow monster?
Vania: I don't know. I've never seen anything like it!
The light goes out, and the shadow sprouts giant arms and legs.
???: ...!
Lyria: Eek!
Vania: Eww! Stay away from us! Shoo, shoo!
Rackam: I don't think we can talk our way out of this one. There's only one thing to do: brace yourself, (Captain)!
???: ...!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 4: Awakening - Episode 1

While (Captain) and company are busy dealing with the shadow, Veight and the other vampires discuss the possibility of a primal beast residing on the island. Suddenly, Vania appears and stabs Veight before running off.

As the earthen giant crumbles into dust, the shadow melts away.
Vania: Ha! That was easy! I wouldn't expect any less of my bloodkin!
Vyrn: Ugh, easy, she says. I wouldn't call that easy.
Rackam: What was that thing?
Lyria: The primal beast that made that shadow felt so angry.
Lyria: It must've realized we're searching for it.
Rackam: So it was trying to cut us off?
Vyrn: But that means there's definitely a primal beast here!
Lyria: The presence has disappeared again, but that was definitely a primal beast! I'm sure of it!
Rackam: In that case, wherever that light's coming from, that's where the primal's gotta be.
Feldrac: That light...
Veight: If these mortals are correct, that was the primal beast.
Feldrac: I see. We must discuss this with the mortals at once.
???: ...
Vampire 1: Vania? Where have you been all this time?
Veight: Perfect timing. We were just about to go talk to the mortals. They should be with you, right?
???: ...
Veight: Vania?
Seeing that she hasn't said a word, Veight approaches her out of concern.
Veight: What's wrong? Why won't you say anything?
Veight: Huh?
A blade pierces through Veight's body. He looks down and sees his older sister grasping the hilt tightly. He can hardly believe his eyes.
Veight: Aagh...
Feldrac: Veight!
Veight: Vania... Why?
Vampire 1: S-stop!
Feldrac: Veight! Show me your wound!
Veight: I'm fine. Vania...
Vampire 1: Yes! Chase after the sinner!
Feldrac: Sinner? Do you realize what you're saying?
Vampire 1: Open your eyes! She's no longer our princess!
Vampire 1: She didn't just attack a fellow vampire; she stabbed her own brother!
Feldrac: ...!
Vampire 2: I saw Vania enter the forest with some mortals not long ago.
Vampire 2: Maybe those mortals forced her to do this in order to sow the seeds of discord among us.
Vampire 1: I knew that talk about primal beasts was nonsense! It was far too convenient!
Veight: Don't say such foolish—
Vampire 1: First she shelters that accursed dragon, and now she and those mortals have us trapped!
Vampire 2: Enough is enough! Gather everyone on the island and hunt those criminals down! We'll bring judgment down on their heads!
Veight: Wait!
Feldrac: No, let them go. Dispatch everyone to search for Vania and those people.
Veight: ...!
Feldrac: However, they are only to be captured. You shall not pass down your own judgment upon them. Do you understand?
Vampire 2: Yes! We understand!
Feldrac: Veight, I know there are many things on your mind right now.
Feldrac: But your wound is proof enough.
Veight: No, it can't be...
Feldrac: The wound is shallow but try not to move.
Feldrac: For now, Vania and the mortals must be restrained in order to ascertain the truth. Do you understand?
Veight: Yes.
With the injury taking its toll on his body, all Veight can do is nod weakly.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 4: Awakening - Episode 2

Lyria is convinced there's a primal beast in Medvecia castle, and the crew now sets their sights on finding a way in.

Vania: Hey, guys, are you really going to the castle?
Vyrn: You bet! Now that we know there's a primal here, we can't just leave it alone!
Vania: Will our problems go away if we stop the primal beast, Lyria?
Lyria: Well, I don't think it's a coincidence that the island has problems while a primal beast is here.
Rackam: Those shadows created by that light are the cause of all this.
Rackam: Next, we need to make sure there's a connection between that light and the primal beast.
Rackam: I'm almost certain there is though. This fits the actions of a primal beast gone crazy.
Vania: I see.
Vania: Okay, I'm coming too! Let's go find the link between the light and the primal beast!
Vania: And then once we know for sure, we'll beat it up!
Rackam: Still, Veight was pretty firm about not letting us enter the castle. Is it okay for us to go in without permission?
Vania: It should be fine if we sneak in without Veight knowing!
Lyria: I'm not sure it's okay, but we don't have much of a choice.
Lyria: Let's go, (Captain)!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 4: Awakening - Episode 2: Scene 2

An angry vampire mob comes discovers Vania and accuse of her of attacking her brother. The party flees in confusion, but a strange vampire heads them off, forcing them to fight.

Vampire: There she is. And the mortals too!
Vampire: I've found the sinners!
Hearing the alarm, a horde of vampires appear and rush toward the party.
Vyrn: Whoa! What's their problem?
Vampire: You're not taking anymore of our lives! Restrain them!
Vampire: Don't let that sinner Vania escape!
Vania: What? I haven't done anything!
Vampire: Silence, sinner! You attacked your own brother! What do you have to say for yourself?
Vampire: You've always struggled with our ideology, but I never thought you'd commit such a sin!
Vania: What are you talking about? I really have no idea what you mean!
Rackam: I'm not sure what's going on here, but I think it's time we beat a hasty retreat!
The confused party turns back and manages to lose the horde of vampires.
Lyria: What was that all about?
Vania: And I didn't do anything wrong either.
???: ...
Rackam: Crud! We're surrounded!
???: Need more... strong soldiers...
Vania: W-what are you? Stop! Don't come any closer!
Vampire's Voice: Argh! Where did they go? Spread out!
Vyrn: It's no good! We'll be spotted if we go back!
???: Need more... strong soldiers, strong soldiers!
Rackam: Tch. Fine! Charge in and cut a path through!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 4: Awakening - Episode 3

Faced with continuous attacks from the primal beast and an unrelenting vampire mob, the party decides to retreat to the Grandcypher. They head to the cave to pick up Malinda, but Feldrac is already there waiting for them.

???: ...
When the party defeats the strange vampire, it disappears into thin air like the giant shadow creature from before.
Vyrn: Ack! This guy too!
Lyria: It's another shadow created by the primal beast, just like the giant shadow from before!
Rackam: That means it's targeting us again!
Rackam: Well that's just perfect! We've got a primal beast gunning for us, and a horde of vampires breathing down our necks! What else could go wrong?
Vania: Ooh, someone tell me what's going on! I don't understand this at all!
Rackam: Maybe we should head back to the Grandcypher for now.
Rackam: As long as we stay here, they're going to corner us before we can get to the castle.
Vania: If we do that, then let's go get Malinda too!
Vania: I can't leave her in a scary situation like this!
Rackam: You're right. Okay, let's go get Malinda!
Vania: Yeah! Thanks, Rackam!
The party remains vigilant as they cautiously make their way through the forest to Malinda's cave.
However, Feldrac and a group of vampires are already in the cave, lying in wait.
Feldrac: I knew you would come here, Vania.
Vania: Feldrac? Even you?

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 4: Awakening - Episode 4

(Captain) and company are interrogated about the recent attacks on the vampires.

Malinda: Gyoo! Gyooo!
Vampire 1: Stop struggling!
Vania: Stop! What are you doing? Leave Malinda alone!
Feldrac: We can't do that.
Vania: Why not?
Feldrac: Restrain them.
Several vampires step forward and restrain the party.
Lyria: Eek!
Vania: Owie, that hurts! Let go of me!
Rackam: Hey! Leave them alone! They're just kids!
Feldrac: There's no need to struggle. We just want to talk.
Rackam: Hah! If that's the case, then why're you being so rough, huh?
Vampire 1: Quiet, heretic! You're lucky we're following Feldrac's orders.
Vampire 1: Otherwise you'd be experiencing something far worse!
Vania: Tell me why you're doing this!
Feldrac: In due time. First, we have some questions for you, Vania.
Feldrac: Veight, come here.
Veight: Yes sir.
Vania: Veight? What happened to you? You're hurt!
Veight: ...
Vampire 1: Don't feign ignorance! You're the one that did this!
Vania: Are you stupid? I'd never do something like that to Veight!
Feldrac: Silence, both of you!
Vania: ...!
Feldrac: Vania, I witnessed your attack on Veight with my own eyes.
Vania: That's impossible! I didn't do it!
Feldrac: Then let's ask Veight himself. Veight, who did this to you?
Veight: It was Vania.
Veight: I've been with my sister ever since I was born. There's no way I could be mistaken.
Vania: ...!
Vampire 1: So it was her, just like we thought.
Vampire 2: I saw her attack Veight as well.
Rackam: Now hold on a minute. Don't you think this is weird? Vania's been with us the whole time!
Feldrac: Silence.
Rackam: No! I won't sit quietly and watch you make false accusations against this kid!
Vampire 1: Oh? In that case, you wouldn't mind if the same fate befalls this child of yours, would you?
At the vampire's signal, the restraint around Lyria's neck tightens.
Lyria: Agh!
Rackam: Tch. Fine, I get it.
Feldrac: Vania. Did you inflict this wound on Veight?
Vania: I told you already! I didn't do it!
Feldrac: I see. Next, I have some questions for the mortals.
Feldrac: You stand accused of attacking one of our own.
Feldrac: Do you have any recollection of this?
Feldrac's gaze makes (Captain)'s blood run cold.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 5: To Medvecia Castle - Episode 1

Vania and the crew climb onto Malinda's back and fly off toward the castle. Veight realizes that the laws and customs he had followed for so long are endangering his sister's life.

Malinda: ...
Vania: Is that you, Malinda?
Malinda: ...
Vania: Wah!
Malinda gently grabs Vania's clothing in her mouth and skillfully tosses the vampire onto her back.
Vampire 1: What is she—
(Captain) and Rackam feel their restraints slacken for just an instant.
Rackam: Rah!
Vampire 1: Oof!
Free of their bindings, (Captain) and Rackam help Vyrn and Lyria out of theirs.
Then the crew climbs up onto Malinda's back.
Vampire 2: No! They're getting away!
Malinda: Graaawr!
Malinda lets loose another roar that stops the vampires again.
In that brief opening, she flaps her wings and flies out of the cave.
Feldrac: ...
Vampire 2: They got away! After them!
Vampire 1: They're heading for the castle! Stop them at all costs!
Veight: Wait... please...
Veight's words are drowned out as the vampires stream out of the cave in great haste.
Veight: Feldrac! You have to stop them!
Feldrac: ...
Veight: Feldrac!
Feldrac: Even if I tried to stop them, they wouldn't listen to me.
Feldrac: All their pent up fear and anxiety has become hatred. Right now, it's all directed at Vania.
Veight: But the mortals and Vania were telling the truth!
Veight: Ugh. You know as well as I do, don't you?
Feldrac: I know. I know it's true, but we can't reach them now. They're blinded by their need to keep to the laws and stamp out heresy.
Veight: ...!
Vania: Laws, laws, laws! You're just as thick-headed as everyone else, Veight!
Vania: There you go again! You're the worst, Veight! Why don't you go somewhere else!
Vania: But it's always laws, laws, laws! Or heresy, heresy, heresy! The only heresy is your way of thinking!
Veight: Vania. I finally understand your sorrow.
Feldrac: ...
Veight: Our laws and customs—the things we protected and took so much pride in—I thought they would protect Vania.
Veight: But this is the result of that pride. If it serves only to threaten her life, then I will throw away my pride.
Veight ignores the pain running throughout his body and makes his way for the exit.
Feldrac: Please wait, Veight!
Veight: ...?
Veight stops when he hears the wavering in Feldrac's voice.
He looks back and sees not the figure of an imposing ruler, but that of a vampire in anguish.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 5: To Medvecia Castle - Episode 2

An exhausted Malinda falls from the sky, but just before she hits the ground, she turns back into her original, pink self. Left with no other choice, the party begins walking toward the castle.

The party sits atop Malinda's back as she soars into the sky.
Vania: Woo-hoo! We're flying so high! And you've gotten so big too!
Lyria: Yeah... I can't believe how big you are.
Malinda: Groar...
Vania: Grrr! I'm so angry right now! What's their problem?
Rackam: Tch. They treated us like criminals.
Lyria: Even if we defeat the primal beast, will things really calm down?
Rackam: I don't know, but we need proof that we're innocent in all this.
Rackam: And to find that, we need to go see if the primal beast really is in the castle tower.
Vania: Ohh! I'm gonna send those vampire dummies flying too after this is all over!
Malinda: Groar...
Vania: See? Malinda agrees with me too!
Vyrn: Uh, nah, she says she's tired.
Rackam: Huh? But that means—
Malinda gradually loses speed and falls toward the forest below.
Just as they are about to hit the ground, Malinda transforms back into her lovable, pink self.
Vania: Eeek!
Rackam: Ow, ow, ow. Hey, everyone all right?
Lyria: Yes. Somehow.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Vyrn: It's only temporary? And I was just getting used to it.
Vania: Aww, I was hoping we'd be able to fly all the way up to the castle.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Rackam: No need to apologize! You really saved our hides back there!
Vania: Yeah! That's right! Thank you, Malinda!
Vania: We'll just have to tough it out from here! Isn't that right, bloodkin?
And so the party carries on through the forest towards the castle.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 5: To Medvecia Castle - Episode 2: Scene 2

The party runs into another shadow, and they deduce that it's the shadow that impersonated Vania and attacked Veight.

As the party continues through the forest, (Captain) senses danger and holds the others back.
Vampire's Shadow: Strong soldiers!
Rackam: One of these things must've been what attacked Veight!
Vania: Grrr. It's all your fault that everyone's being so mean to me!
Vania: Let's make it pay! Go, bloodkin!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 5: To Medvecia Castle - Episode 3

The vampires have the castle surrounded in anticipation of the crew's arrival. Veight helps the party sneak in through the back entrance where they meet Feldrac.

The party defeats the shadow vampire and arrives at the castle.
Vampire 1: They're definitely coming this way! Search the castle perimeter!
Vampire 2: Remain vigilant! We'll find them for sure!
Rackam: Wonderful. There's no way we're getting in undetected.
Vania: Oh, I know! We can get in from the back gate! Over here!
Vania takes them around the castle to the backside.
However, there are vampires covering the back gate as well.
Vania: Oh no... What do we do?
Vampire's Voice: I've found the sinners!
Vyrn: Ack! We've been spotted!
Vampire's Voice: Everyone report to the main gate now!
Vampire 2: Did you hear that? They're at the main gate!
Vania: Huh? They're heading for the main gate?
Vania: I'm not sure what's going on, but now's our chance!
Malinda: Gyoo!
As the party approaches the gate, it starts to open on its own.
Veight: Hurry, get in!
Vania: Veight!
Veight: Don't worry. This isn't a trap. Hurry!
Vyrn: But...
Vania: No, it's fine. Veight isn't lying. Come on.
Vyrn: How do you know that?
Vania: Big sisters always know. Now get a move on!
Lyria: We're inside the castle... I feel nervous just being here.
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoo...
Vyrn: Malinda's never been here either. This place is incredible.
???: Indeed. It's a place that even we vampires are restricted from entering.
A man with a cold glint in his eyes appears from the darkness.
Feldrac: The vampires of this island who honor the old ways would never dare set foot in these halls.
Rackam: Feldrac!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 5: To Medvecia Castle - Episode 4

Two eggs washed ashore a long time ago; one belonged to Malinda, and the other disappeared. Feldrac claims responsibility for the island's problems because he was unable to make a decision between siding with Vania, or embracing the old ways.

The party is on high alert, but Feldrac shakes his head.
Feldrac: Veight and I are the only ones here. We're not going to do anything to you.
Feldrac: Veight, please don't stop me from what I'm about to do.
Feldrac faces the party squarely and lowers his head.
Veight: Feldrac...
Rackam: Hah! It's a bit late for apologies, isn't it? After what you put us, Malinda, and even Vania through—
Vania: Wait, Rackam.
Vania: I'm listening.
Feldrac: Thank you, Vania.
Feldrac: The blame for all this turmoil lies with me.
Vyrn: Huh? What do you mean by that?
Feldrac: From now on, I shall only speak the truth and bare my crimes.
Feldrac: Our clan has always respected the laws and customs of old; we've rejected connections from outside our society, deciding our end for ourselves.
Rackam: Yeah, we heard about it from Vania. It was decreed by some king from long ago, if I'm not mistaken.
Feldrac: Correct. These customs that stretch back thousands of years are a source of pride for us.
Feldrac: For that reason, we tend to abhor those that come to the island, even those brought by stray winds.
Feldrac: When Vania expressed doubt in our ideology, I was finally not alone.
Lyria: You mean you doubted them too, Feldrac?
Feldrac: Yes. I constantly wondered whether our way of life was truly bringing us happiness.
Feldrac: I couldn't express my doubts publicly; as their leader, this would only cause disorder to ripple through the community.
Feldrac: But I understood Vania's feelings. Because of that, I felt that I couldn't put a stop to her actions.
Rackam: That's a tough situation to be in.
Rackam: Are you saying if you'd been more strict with Vania, the townsfolk wouldn't bear so much resentment toward her?
Feldrac: That's right. On the other hand, I'd placed my hopes in Vania.
Feldrac: Frankly speaking, I thought Vania was a gust of wind that could blow away the old and bring in the new. She was different.
Feldrac: But I remained troubled. I didn't know whether to trust Vania and espouse her ideology...
Feldrac: Or side with the old guard and accept our eventual demise.
Feldrac: Then one day two mysterious eggs washed ashore from the outside world.
Vyrn: One of those eggs must've been—
Malinda: Gyoo?
Feldrac: Yes. One of them was you, Malinda. There other was an egg of deep crimson.
Feldrac: The others were repulsed by the eggs, and they immediately suggested they be disposed of. Once again, I was unsure what to do.
Feldrac: Lost in my indecisiveness, the crimson egg vanished, and only Malinda's egg remained.
Vania: I didn't know that.
Vyrn: Then what happened to the other egg? Do you think a monster ate it?
Feldrac: I'd thought so too. But then you mentioned the primal beast, and I began to change my mind.
Feldrac: Perhaps this primal beast hatched from that missing egg.
Feldrac: The citizens think that Malinda's birth was the cause of the disaster we now face, but—
Rackam: But what if the disappearance of the crimson egg was the real cause?
Feldrac: Yes. If that's the truth, then none of you can be blamed for this mess.
Feldrac: The blame is mine alone, because I wasn't able to make a firm judgment!
Feldrac once again lowers his head to the party.
Feldrac: I'm truly sorry!
Vania: Feldrac, you sure think and worry a lot.
Vania: I don't understand complicated stuff, but it sounds like you were just looking out for everyone, right?
Feldrac: Yes, of course.
Vania: Then everything's fine! I forgive you! Well, I'm still a little mad though.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Rackam: That's a lot to take in, but you can raise your head. I can see where you were coming from.
Feldrac: I'm sorry. Truly.
Feldrac: Veight, I have failed you as well, and I've only continued to put you in harm's way.
Feldrac: I didn't chastise Vania for her actions, but I treated you too harshly. Forgive me.
Feldrac: I'm unfit to be a ruler, or your guardian.
Veight: Feldrac...
Feldrac: The least I can do to atone for my inaction is to guide you to where the primal beast might be.
Feldrac: I also wish to see it with my own eyes, so that I may prove your innocence
Rackam: Then we leave it to you. Everyone'll have to believe your words.
Feldrac: Come. This way.
Lyria: ...!
Lyria: The primal beast's presence is suddenly getting stronger!
At that moment, a huge burst of light floods in from the castle windows.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 6: The Beginning of the End - Episode 1

More shadows have been created, and they're attacking the vampires outside the castle. Feldrac rushes off to try to stop the fighting.

The bright light shining in the castle stops soon after it starts.
Suddenly, screams and yells can be heard from outside.
Vampire's Voice: Stop it! What do you think you're—
Vampire's Voice: Argh!
Feldrac: What's happening?
Feldrac rushes over to a window, and his eyes widen with shock at the scene outside.
Feldrac: What's the meaning of this? They're all attacking each other!
Rackam: It can't be! More shadows created by the primal?
Feldrac: Did it take advantage of everyone gathering by the main gate?
Feldrac: Ngh. How could I have been so foolish!
Feldrac clenches his fists tightly and rushes off into the darkness.
Rackam: Hey, wait! Where are you going?
Feldrac: This is also my responsibility. I must do something to quell the chaos!
Vania: You can't! You'll just be putting yourself in danger!
Feldrac: Vania, Veight, and you mortals. I apologize once more.
Feldrac: I leave the primal beast in your hands!
Vania: Wait!
Vania tries to chase after him, but Veight catches her arm.
Veight: Let's go.
Vania: Okay.
Veight: It's this way. We must hurry.

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 6: The Beginning of the End - Episode 2

Vania raises concerns over Veight's injuries as he guides the crew through the castle. They are approaching the tower when more shadows appear before them.

Vania: Hey, Veight. How's your wound?
Veight: Don't underestimate me. It's practically all healed up.
Rackam: You sure? You're not just acting tough for us, are you?
Veight: We vampires heal faster than you mortals.
Veight: If you've got time to worry about me, then I suggest you also focus on the task at hand.
Rackam: Heh, I guess you are feeling fine. The primal beast should've noticed us getting closer by now.
Veight: Make sure you're ready to face it. We don't know anything about it.
Veight: Over there. Once you climb those stairs, you'll be at the tower.
Vyrn: Gotcha! Let's get fired up!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Veight: Wait! Something's coming!
???: ...
Rackam: These guys again? They just keep coming like a swarm of bugs!
Veight: Are these the shadows you were talking about? I know they're fake, but even I can't tell the difference.
Vania: Yep! They're the ones wrecking the island!
Rackam: Let's deal with them quickly and press on!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 6: The Beginning of the End - Episode 3

The shadows are defeated, but copies of (Captain) and Vania now face the party. Veight is enraged by the sight of the shadow that's impersonating his sister.

???: Aagh...
Vyrn: Hah! Serves you right!
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo!
Vania: All right! The way's clear! Let's go get that primal beast!
???: ...
Veight: Of course it wouldn't be that easy. Prepare yourselves.
Vyrn: What? How many times are these things going to keep coming? We keep beating them, but...
???: ...
Rackam: Who are they? Vania and (Captain)?
Veight: I see. You're the human shadow that attacked my brethren.
Veight: And you're the one who—you're the fake Vania!
???: ...
Vania: How dare you! Why did you do bad stuff disguised as me and (Captain), huh?
???: Strong soldiers... Need more...
Veight: Is that all? Is that why you've brought pandemonium to our island?
Veight: It was the Astrals who created the primal beasts.
Veight: And now one of those primals is creating these abominations! It makes me sick!
Veight: (Captain). Destroy them. Leave no trace of them behind!

Fall of the Dragon - Chapter 6: The Beginning of the End - Episode 4

When the party steps into the tower, they find a crimson egg on the floor that transforms into the primal beast. It plans to create an army in order to continue fighting the War, but (Captain) and company are determined to put a stop to its machinations.

???: ...
Veight: Your only purpose is to create more soldiers? That's why you've been tormenting us?
Veight: Augh!
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo!
Malinda rushes over to Veight. He's clutching his bleeding stomach and breathing heavily.
Vania: Veight! Your wound hasn't healed yet!
Rackam: You were fighting in that condition? How could you be so reckless?
Veight: Shut up. In Feldrac's absence, I had to see the primal beast with my own eyes.
Veight: And with my own eyes, I will be the proof you and Vania need to clear your names.
Lyria: Veight...
Vania: You're such a dummy.
Vania: Well, we can't do much about it right now. Here, lean on my shoulder.
Veight: Thanks, Vania.
Vania: Of course. I'm your big sister.
Vania: Okay, let's go! That primal beast is goin' down for sure!
Lyria: Yeah! Let's go!
With Malinda and Vania holding up Veight, the party opens the stately door and enters the tower.
A huge, crimson orb that distinctly resembles an egg is rolling on the ground.
Rackam: What's that?
Lyria: It's faint, but the presence of the primal beast is coming from it!
Veight: Then that's the egg of the primal beast...
Veight: Feldrac's guess was correct.
Veight: With this, we can prove everyone's innocence, including you, Malinda.
Malinda: Gyoo!
Veight: I'm really sorry, Malinda.
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo!
Vyrn: Hehe, we did it!
Vania: What are you relaxing for? This isn't over yet!
Vania: Let's kick that egg off this island!
The crimson orb, as if sensing their hostility, begins to pulsate. It emits an intense light and fills the room with a thick miasma.
???: ...!
The party freezes for a moment at the sight of the primal beast's true, grotesque form.
???: ...!
Taking advantage of the brief opening, it shoots out a dazzling flash of light.
Rackam: Watch out!
Lyria: Aah!
(Captain) grabs Lyria, and together with Rackam, they manage to dive out of the way.
However, because they're supporting Veight on their shoulders, Malinda and Vania are unable to escape.
Veight: Tch, we won't make it!
Veight pushes Vania and Malinda out of the way at the last second before he's engulfed in light.
Vania: Aah!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Veight: Ngh! Aaah!
A shadow steps out from the light enveloping Veight.
It's the spitting image of Veight, squirming and wiggling as if it were alive.
???: ...
Rackam: We were right. That light creates these shadows. And the primal beast is the one that controls that light!
Vania: Veight!
Veight: Forget about me! I'll deal with this myself! You must defeat the primal beast!
Vyrn: But your injury!
???: ...
Veight tries to take a swing at the shadow, but the pain from his injury is too much to bear.
Veight: Aagh! What injury?
Veight: I am a proud vampire! I will never lose to an inferior copy!
???: ...
Vania: But, but!
Veight: Please, Vania! Go!
Vyrn: C'mon, Vania! If we beat the primal, the shadows should disappear too!
Rackam: If you want to help Veight, then come help us deal with this thing!
???: ...
Vania: You're... you're the worst!
???: More. More!
Rackam: It can talk?
???: More soldiers. Raise army. The war. For the war. Must win war!
Rackam: The War? You mean the one that was waged across the skies? That ended ages ago!
Vania: Are you kidding me? You did this to everyone over a war that's already ended?
Vania: I'm going to make you pay! I'll show you no mercy!
Malinda: Gyooo!
Vania: Bloodkin! Blast it into the sky!

Fall of the Dragon - Ending

The primal beast is defeated along with the shadows, but the vampires continue to punish each other in accordance with their laws. Vania gives a hearfelt plea that finally ends the fighting, once and for all.

???: ...!
Rackam: Now, Lyria!
Lyria: Got it!
???: ...
???: ...
Veight: They're gone...
Feldrac: Haa... Haa... The shadows have disappeared!
Feldrac: They did it! They actually did it!
Shriek: Aaaugh!
Feldrac: More screaming? But why?
Vania: Why? Why's everyone still fighting? We got rid of the shadows, didn't we?
Veight: It can't be! Are they punishing each other in accordance with the laws?
Vyrn: Huh? What do you mean?
Veight: Harming a fellow vampire is a capital offense. Even if one were to mistakenly strike another in the chaos, that would be grounds for death!
Rackam: Now just wait a second! There's no way they'd be that ridiculous!
Veight: Those unbelievable fools! Even now they cling to the laws and customs! Ergh...
Vania: Veight!
Feldrac: Stop! The enemy we should be hating is gone! The shadows that wrought this destruction are gone!
Vampire 1: Argh! No! You're wrong! I was going to take your life!
Vampire 1: Someone—anyone—please bring down on me the justice I deserve!
The main gate of the castle is like a scene from a nightmare—screams of pain and anguish fill the air.
Bound by their pride to adhere to the laws, the vampires mete out punishment upon one another for their perceived sins.
Shriek: Graaah!
Feldrac: Cease this at once! Laws and customs be damned!
Feldrac: Please, stop!
Veight: It's as if we want to be destroyed. I'd thought we'd leave this world gracefully and full of pride.
Veight: But where is the pride and grace in this?
Vania: No, not like this. Make it stop!
Malinda: ...!
Malinda: Groar...
Malinda transforms and smashes through the castle window.
Vyrn: What're you doing, Malinda?
Malinda: Groar.
Vyrn: Cover our ears? You can't be serious! Quick, everyone, cover your ears!
The party follows Vyrn's orders.
Malinda fills her belly with air, and she points her head at the sky.
Malinda: Groaaawr!
Vampires: ...!
Malinda's roar shakes the entire island.
The ground trembles, the trees waver, and the hearts of the vampires are shaken to the core.
Malinda: ...
Malinda: Gyoo.
Malinda returns to her original form and says something to Vania.
Vania: Yeah. I understand.
Vania stops outside the front gate of the castle and glares at the vampires.
Vania: You're all really, really stupid!
Vania: Do you really think the old ways are worth throwing away your lives for?
Vania: If that's what you think, then hurry up and destroy each other! I've had enough!
Vania: But you know what? I'd hate it if you weren't here!
Vania: I don't want you to die! If you all left me, it'd be too painful to go on!
Vampire 2: Vania...
Vampire 2: You still speak like a petulant child.
Feldrac: But this child's words, blunt as they may be, have really moved us.
Feldrac: Has my voiced finally reached you, my brethren? Even you can understand Vania's feelings, can you not?
Feldrac: Then stop. Let's end this senseless quarrel.
Touched by Vania's sentiments, the vampires heed Feldrac's words.
The senseless fighting comes to an end.
As the last vestiges of violence subside, the strange occurrences on Medvecia are resolved.
