Etymology
- Longinus is a legendary name in Christian history given to the Roman soldier who pierced Jesus in his side upon the crucifix with a lance. The lance is referred to as the "Holy Lance", the "Spear of Destiny", the "Lance of Longinus" or simply "Longinus".
