Make Up and Go! - Opening

(Captain) is watching Cucouroux and Camieux help with Silva's rifle maintenance when Galadar bursts in to lay down the shocking message that the sisters' parents, Mama and Papa Gunsmith, are considering divorce.

On one fine, sunny day, (Captain) steps out onto the deck of the anchored Grandcypher.
Silva and Cucouroux are already up on deck working at some sort of task, an assortment of tools lined up before them.
Silva: Good morning, (Captain). Did you sleep well?
Silva: Oh? I'm glad to hear it.
Cucouroux: Yesterday's mission was no walk in the park. I'm hoping we can just kick back today.
Lyria: Mm-hm! We're taking a day off from assignments!
Silva: Well, that's a relief. Working too much just builds up fatigue and makes us more prone to errors.
Cucouroux: Hey, don't forget to take care of yourself either, Sis. You tend to work yourself pretty hard.
Silva: Mm... I'll try to keep that in mind.
Cucouroux is set to inherit a storied gun workshop that has existed since the time of the War.
Upon hearing about (Captain)'s lofty goal of reaching the ends of the skies, she decided to join in on the crew's adventures.
As an expert gunsmith skilled in both the development and maintenance of firearms of all kinds, her skills have proven invaluable to the crew.
Silva left her hometown to embark on sniper training and stayed at the gun workshop for some time.
She became fast friends with Cucouroux, daughter of the workshop's owner, and they grew to trust each other more than real siblings might.
With her hometown of Mephorash shut off by the Erste Empire, Silva joined (Captain)'s crew to help resist the imperial army.
Her impeccable aim as a deadeye makes her an irreplaceable member of the crew.
Vyrn: Hey, whatcha two doin'? Lemme guess... Those are gun parts you've got on the ground.
Cucouroux: Oh, I'm just doing maintenance work while making minor tweaks to Silva's rifle.
Cucouroux: It's a bit of a complex construction and uses cutting-edge technology, so I need to make sure I don't miss any details.
Lyria: Wow... I had no idea Silva's gun was made up of so many parts!
Lyria, Vyrn, and (Captain) look on with great curiosity.
Camieux: Cucouroux! I brought you a shiny new canister of grease!
Cucouroux: Thanks, Camieux! Can you put it over here?
Camieux: Sure thing!
Taken in by the owners of the gun workshop at a young age, Camieux is the object of endless doting affection from her foster sister Cucouroux.
Often startled by the smallest things, timid Camieux joined the crew to toughen herself up.
She's gained a sense of composure over the course of her many adventures with (Captain) and company.
Lyria: Hm? Where are you going, (Captain)?
Lyria: You're bringing your gun?
Lyria: Oh, you'll be doing maintenance on your piece too?
Cucouroux: Whoo! Yeah, let's do it together!
Silva: Good idea. We don't really get the chance to do a thorough cleanup on mission days.
Camieux: I'll help with the cleaning too!
(Captain) joins the sisters for gun maintenance.
Cucouroux: Phew! We're just about done!
Lyria: Nice work! You put the guns back together so fast—it's almost like magic!
Camieux: I don't really like squinting for all the small parts though. Hurts my eyes...
Silva: I'll bring you some eye drops.
???: Hrrumph! Blah!
As (Captain) clears the deck, grunts can be heard near the landing zone.
Lyria: That voice... It's Galadar!

Galadar: Pant... Wheeze... It's bullocks, I tell ye!
Cucouroux: Wow, you've really blown your cool, Galadar... What happened?
Cucouroux: You attended a Smiths' Guild meeting, where they had smithies from all over gather together, right?
Galadar: Aye, so ye knew...
Camieux: Here, Galadar! I brought you some water! Why don't you drink up!
Galadar: Thank ye, lassie!
Galadar: Glub, glub... Aaah!
Galadar: Cucouroux, Camieux. Ye two had best head back tae the gun workshop!
Camieux: Huh?
Cucouroux: Oh no... Did something happen to our parents?
Galadar: Don't ye know...
Galadar: Huff... Puff...
Galadar: Yer parents are talkin' aboot—
Galadar: Divorce!
Silva: Huh?
Camieux: Agh!
Cucouroux: You're kidding!
The gunsmith sisters raise shouts of surprise in response.
The rest of the crew, also acquainted with the owners of the gun workshop, are equally taken aback.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 1: Uncle Dan Goofs Around - Episode 1

After hearing Galadar's message, the party heads to the gun workshop that Cucouroux and Camieux call their family home. (Captain) and the others step in as an irate Mama Gunsmith is castigating Papa Gunsmith.

The crew is baffled at Galadar's shocking revelation.
Camieux: M-M-Mom and Dad are going to d-d-d-div—
Vyrn: Hey, calm down, Camieux! Your legs are going all wobbly!
Camieux: B-but I can't!
Silva: I can't believe they'd get divorced... That just doesn't seem likely...
Lyria: Yeah, they seem like such a loving couple... Something big must've happened...
Cucouroux: Well, going to pieces here won't do us any good! (Captain), we'll need some time off to see our parents!
Vyrn: Getting a ticket for a public airship is gonna take you too much time!
(Captain) nods in agreement and offers to take them there on the Grandcypher.
Cucouroux: Are you sure, (Captain)? I'm really sorry for getting in the way of the crew's vacation.
Cucouroux: But... thanks! I appreciate it tons! We'll owe you for this!
The airship takes off and makes haste to the gun workshop, home of the gunsmith sisters' parents.
The moment Cucouroux and Camieux are ready to knock on the door of their home, loud voices emerge from within.
Mama Gunsmith: Absolutely! Not!
Camieux: Eeep!
Silva: Isn't that... Mama Gunsmith?
Cucouroux: Yikes, she's peeved! Oh, the keys!
Papa Gunsmith: Can you please at least try to calm down first?
Mama Gunsmith: To hell with that! You're always such a—
Cucouroux: Stop fighting!
Cucouroux and Camieux jump in between their bickering parents.
Mama Gunsmith: Ah... Cucouroux? Camieux? You too, Silva? And the crew...
Galadar: Hope ye don't mind the intrusion.
Galadar: I figured yer daughters ought tae know aboot this latest incident.
Papa Gunsmith: Galadar...
Camieux: Mommy, Daddy, please don't get divorced... Sniff...
Camieux: Sob...
Mama Gunsmith: I'm so sorry. This must come as such a surprise to you, Camieux.
Galadar: Sorry aboot that... I was in such a panic I didnae get th' chance tae explain everything that happened...
Galadar: Maybe we can take this opportunity tae lay it all out...
Vyrn: Whatever family discussion's about to happen is probably too private for us to butt in on, so—
Papa Gunsmith: Actually, this ain't no easy problem to tackle.
Papa Gunsmith: Having a few friendly outsiders around might help to keep things civil.
Vyrn: Well, if you don't mind, then we sure don't mind sticking around either. Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) gathers around the table with the gunsmith family to hear the story from Galadar.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 1: Uncle Dan Goofs Around - Episode 2

Galadar explains that an increase to mineral prices at the hands of the Miners' Association has caused a great commotion. To assist negotiations with the association, the Smiths' Guild decides to establish an alloy foundry that will develop new metalworking technologies.

Galadar: The connection willnae be mighty obvious at first, but I'll start wae the conference arranged by the Smiths' Guild.
Lyria: A conference? You mean the one that you and Papa Gunsmith attended?
Lyria: But then what's this guild thing about?
Galadar: The Smith Guild's essentially a collective o' smithies lookin' tae make th' finest weapons around.
Galadar: Makin' a profit's all fine and dandy, but we've gottae keep in mind the weapons and armor we make can be a matter of life or death fer those who come buyin'.
Galadar: Which is why we convene regularly tae discuss how we can improve our craft.
Vyrn: Yeah, I hear ya... It's thanks to you guys we get to rock so much neato equipment!
Galadar: And then there's this other group callin' themselves the Miners' Association.
Cucouroux: Oh, them? They ensure the quality of the minerals that come out of each island and adjust prices accordingly, right?
Galadar: Aye. And this time, they got tae talkin' aboot raisin' the prices on minerals.
Camieux: What! Why that again?
Papa Gunsmith: They're saying it's to keep up with the rising cost of technology. I suppose they do have a point—my only problem's with the figure they've presented.
Galadar: Bigger workshops like this one can find a way tae manage...
Galadar: But th' smaller places are bound tae run intae fundin' difficulties simply buyin' the minimal amount of materials...
Silva: If that causes any of the smithing workshops to go bust...
Silva: The people living on those islands will have it worst.
Vyrn: We skyfarers can just hop on to our airship and find smithies on other islands...
Vyrn: But on islands where they don't have regular commercial flights, the locals'll have trouble getting equipped...
Papa Gunsmith: And if the island is crawling with monsters, it's literally life or death for them without a smithy in place.
Papa Gunsmith: Our guild can provide monetary relief in such cases, but there are simply too many smithies asking for aid this time...
Galadar: But that's nae reason to just comply wae the Miners' Association's askin' price!
Cucouroux: What's the status of the negotiations with them?
Galadar: That there's our problem. Them stuck-up bampots wae their take-it-or-leave-it shtick.
Galadar: We've gottae bring 'em out tae the negotiation table.
Galadar: And that's when our resident gunsmith came up with a mighty braw proposition.
Cucouroux: Dad thought of something?
Galadar: Yer father suggested a new type o' steel that th' guild could develop on its own, which would also be of interest tae th' Miners' Association.
Papa Gunsmith: You're talking me up way too much, Galadar.
Papa Gunsmith: Whenever we discussed our smithing techniques at the guild, the topic of improving the base materials came up every now and then.
Papa Gunsmith: You'd think they'd be interested in the composition ratio for a new alloy and the associated techniques...
Cucouroux: Research like that sounds like it'd be super beneficial to both sides!
Galadar: And that's how we came tae set up a specialized alloy foundry, wit' fundin' provided by th' guild and other interested parties.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 1: Uncle Dan Goofs Around - Episode 3

The spark that ignited the gunsmith parents' conflict is revealed to be Papa's decision to put the alloy workshop under the command of Uncle Dan, Mama's older brother. Cucouroux offers to allay Mama's concerns by watching over the unreliable uncle, which leads (Captain) and the others to temporarily guard the alloy workshop in cooperation.

Camieux: Um... Galadar?
Galadar: Aye, lassie?
Camieux: I understood the part about negotiating with the Miners' Association and the part about making an alloy foundry, but...
Camieux: I don't see how that made Mommy and Daddy fight.
Cucouroux: That's right... Mom, are you against the alloy foundry?
Mama Gunsmith: Of course not! I think it's a wonderful idea—for both the guild and us.
Mama Gunsmith: What I can't forgive is your father recommending your uncle as the boss of the alloy foundry!
Cucouroux: Hm? You mean Uncle Dan?
Papa Gunsmith: That's right, Uncle Dan... He was originally supposed to take over as the successor of the gun workshop after all.
Papa Gunsmith: And he's got what it takes to do the job. I figured it was a good call, but...
Mama Gunsmith: Oh, please! You ever wonder why he ended up not inheriting the gun workshop?
Papa Gunsmith: That's... Well...
Mama Gunsmith: I don't trust that slimeball! He'll find a way to fudge it all up for sure! And you want him as the boss? Absolutely not!
Vyrn: Erm... Is this Uncle Dan person such a bad guy?
Cucouroux: Well... As Dad was saying, he definitely knows his craft. But...
???: Yawn... Quite the crowd we've got.
Camieux: Ah, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: Heya, Camieux! It's been a while.
Uncle Dan: Man, am I starving. You guys have any good eats?
Mama Gunsmith: Ugh! It's way past lunchtime if you haven't noticed!
Mama Gunsmith: Don't walk into a room yawning where there could be customers around! How much of a slob can you be?
Uncle Dan: Ah... My bad, my bad. If you've got customers, I can eat out instead.
Mama Gunsmith: Sigh...
Vyrn: Umm... Was that the Uncle Dan everyone mentioned? He sure seems like a carefree fellow...
Mama Gunsmith: Don't give him the time of day, Vyrn. I wouldn't call him carefree; I'd call him a shmuck.
Camieux: B-but Uncle Dan is so nice! He can seem like a bit of a mess though...
Mama Gunsmith: You know, Camieux... It's easy to think he's a great guy 'cept for one little flaw, but that one flaw is exactly what makes him so terrible.
Mama Gunsmith: As his sister, I'll never be able to live it down if you set him up as boss of the new place and let him fubar everything.
Mama Gunsmith: I'd have to take responsibility by leaving the gun business for good...
Silva: Mama Gunsmith... Please calm down... Can we at least try to give Uncle Dan a chance?
Mama Gunsmith: Nuh-uh! He wouldn't be Uncle Dan if he didn't turn the whole situation into a massive snafu!
Papa Gunsmith: Oh, gimme a break! Your brother's been in the biz long enough! You just need to put him in a position where he can prove his worth.
Mama Gunsmith: Humph, you just don't—
Cucouroux: Wait, wait, Mom!
Cucouroux: I just had an idea! Why don't you just try leaving the foundry to him for the time being?
Cucouroux: And put me there too to watch how he does his job.
Cucouroux: I'll see if Uncle Dan is up to snuff and report back to you on it.
Mama Gunsmith: What are you saying, Cucouroux! You're a member of (Captain)'s crew now.
Mama Gunsmith: You should be focusing your efforts on helping them.
Mama Gunsmith: I don't remember raising you to be someone who casts off her responsibilities!
Cucouroux: Rgh... That's...
Galadar: How aboot we have th' guild hire (Captain)'s crew?
Galadar: That way, Cucouroux can keep an eye on Dan while daein' her part as a crew member.
Mama Gunsmith: Hire the crew... What for?
Galadar: If ye ask me, the guild really ought tae hire bodyguards for the foundry anyway.
Galadar: But it takes time tae find someone who can stay for the long term. Consider it a temporary solution till then.
Mama Gunsmith: Well... It'd certainly be a tremendous relief if (Captain) and everyone else would be willing...
Galadar: How 'boot it, (Captain)? Yer employer will be th' guild, so nae need tae worry aboot payment.
Vyrn: If we get to help out Cucouroux and her family in the process, I say we've got nothin' to lose, (Captain).
(Captain) agrees, responding that it will be no problem.
Galadar: Och! Thanks a bunch! How aboot it, Mama Gunsmith?
Galadar: We'll just have tae set a time frame for the protection job... and also for Cucouroux's job.
Mama Gunsmith: Hm...
Papa Gunsmith: Please, dearie. When I first started coming to this workshop back in the day, Dan helped me big-time.
Papa Gunsmith: Not to mention it's always felt like I robbed him of his rightful place in the workshop... As if I'm some kinda heartless ingrate.
Papa Gunsmith: I think he totally deserves a position of power. It'd give him a chance to prove his sense of responsibility.
Camieux: Mommy... I believe in Uncle Dan too.
Camieux: I'll work with Cucouroux to help out Uncle Dan!
Mama Gunsmith: ...
Mama Gunsmith: Sigh... Fine. Consider this an exception.
Cucouroux: Thanks, Mom! Rest assured I'll be keeping a close watch on Uncle Dan!
Mama Gunsmith: I'm counting on it, Cucouroux.
Mama Gunsmith: And I'm sorry for dragging you all into this.
Lyria: It'll be okay, Mama Gunsmith! We'll be sure to do our part as bodyguards! Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods in full agreement, helping to relieve the proprietress.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 1: Uncle Dan Goofs Around - Episode 4

Cucouroux and company seek out Uncle Dan to inform him he's been appointed head of the alloy foundry, and they find him swilling suds in a local eating house. Dan reluctantly accepts upon learning that his younger sister is vowing to walk out on her family if Dan can't carry out his duties.

Around the time discussions wrap up at the gun workshop, Dan is enjoying a meal at the cafeteria.
Uncle Dan: Mm, I love me some fried rice. It's a bit burnt—just the way I like it. I could use a drink to go with it though.
Uncle Dan: Hey, miss! Can I get some beer here—
???: Ooh, no you don't!
Uncle Dan: Hm?
Uncle Dan: Whoa, you're scaring me, Cucouroux.
Cucouroux: Absolutely no drinking in the afternoon!
Uncle Dan: Eh? Why not? I'm not exactly on duty today, you know?
Camieux: Uncle Dan, we need to talk! Please hold back on the alcohol and listen to Cucouroux!
Uncle Dan: Hm? Ah, Camieux? Didn't notice ya since you're still small as a babe.
Uncle Dan: I'm impressed with how mature you're acting. It's a far cry from your weeping days. Going on that adventure must've done the trick!
Camieux: O-oh really? I seem all mature now?
Uncle Dan: Yeah, I almost thought you were someone else for a sec. You still look smol though. You sure you've been eating right?
Uncle Dan: Wanna have lunch with your Uncle Dan while you're here?
Silva: You haven't changed at all, Dan.
Cucouroux: Sigh... The discussion seems to go all over the place every time I try to talk to you, Uncle Dan.
Cucouroux: Ooh, Uncle Dan! Did you know that your new job's been decided?
Uncle Dan: My new job? Did you find me some big shot client or something?
Uncle Dan: Your mom's always been a real go-getter. With her handling the business side of things, us smiths'll always have a job.
Cucouroux: Uncle Dan, you've been appointed as boss of the guild's new alloy foundry.
Uncle Dan: Wha? Me? That's a pretty good joke...
Uncle Dan: Not exactly my cup of tea, you know. One look at me should give it away. Why don't you try asking one of the younger guys?
Cucouroux: Dad was adamant that you take this on.
Uncle Dan: Eh... He's being way too nice...
Camieux: Me and Cucouroux will do everything we can to help you until you get used to the job!
Camieux: So let's give it our all, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: I dunno...
Cucouroux: Oh, you're definitely doing this! There's no way I'm gonna let my parents get divorced over this!
Uncle Dan: Huh? What's me taking charge of some foundry gotta do with them getting a divorce?
Camieux: It's a long story...
Uncle Dan: Meh, spare me the details then.
Silva: Mama Gunsmith says she'll take collective responsibility and leave the business for good if things don't pan out with you at the foundry.
Uncle Dan: What the... She really said that?
Uncle Dan: Bummer... There's no way I can let that happen. Guess I ought to give it a shot at least...
Uncle Dan: Sigh... I won't lie about having my doubts though...
Cucouroux: ...
Looking at her dispirited uncle fills Cucouroux with anxiety.
But they've made some progress at least. All the crew can do now is wait and see.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 2: To the Alloy Foundry - Episode 1

Several days later, (Captain), Uncle Dan, and the others set off for Valtz to see the alloy foundry building and then furnish it with a variety of equipment, including a safe from the Knickknack Shop. Dan steps in to relieve Silva of the weighty safe, which prompts Cucouroux to remark with a sigh that her uncle's impossible to hate, and to give him some gentle encouragement.

Days later the crew is gathered by the landing zone, ready to take off for the alloy foundry.
Mama and Papa Gunsmith are also present to see (Captain) and company off.
Papa Gunsmith: All right, Dan. The alloy foundry's livelihood depends on you now.
Uncle Dan: I hear ya...
Mama Gunsmith: I trust you'll keep everyone safe, (Captain).
Mama Gunsmith: Cucouroux, Camieux, keep a close watch on Uncle Dan, okay?
Cucouroux: Yeah, we'll take care of it. No need to worry so much, Mom.
Cucouroux: Uncle Dan knows his stuff. I'm sure everything'll work out!
Mama Gunsmith: I hope you're right...
Although a tinge of concern still lingers in her voice, the Grandcypher takes off.
Lyria: Phew, here we are!
Vyrn: Why'd they build the foundry in Valtz of all places anyway? Wouldn't it have been more convenient near the gun workshop?
Cucouroux: True, but the Archduke of Valtz just seemed so excited about the idea when it was presented to him.
Cucouroux: He's not too fond of the Miners' Association jacking up prices either.
Cucouroux: Which is why he lent us the real estate for the alloy foundry.
Vyrn: What a swell guy!
Uncle Dan: Wait, the archduke is involved too? I'm really feeling out of my element now...
Camieux: Hey, let's try to think positive, Uncle Dan!
Silva: The foundry should be straight up this road. Let's get moving.
Lyria: Okay!
Cucouroux: Here it is... the alloy foundry!
Lyria: What a fancy-looking building! There must be so many rooms inside!
Cucouroux: Yeah, we really need to go thank the archduke personally later.
Uncle Dan: Seems pretty vacant inside. Please tell me they've got some beds for us at least...
Camieux: If they don't...
Camieux: Does that mean we get to buy new beds?
Silva: Haha, I guess so. We'll need all sorts of furniture and tools.
Cucouroux: The guild reps said we can just buy whatever we need to start out.
Cucouroux: Of course, that includes a furnace for processing metals and a desk for laying out design blueprints! We'll get to pick out whatever we like, Cammy!
Camieux: A furnace? And a desk?
Camieux: Wow! I can't wait!
Uncle Dan: Meh, what a hassle... But I'm cool with it as long as you kids are having fun.
Lyria: We can't forget the simpler things like bed sheets or pans and pots either.
Lyria: Why don't we take a trip to the Knickknack Shack?
Cucouroux: Sure, but in a bit!
Cucouroux explains that it would be more efficient to first make a list of what they'll need to purchase.
Camieux: I'll take a look around inside in the meantime!
Camieux wants to check inside to see what furnishings and tools are already present. (Captain) gives an understanding nod.
Lyria: Sounds like fun! Let's check out the place with her, (Captain)!
The crew splits up, each member scoping out a different part of the building.
Cucouroux makes her list based on everyone's findings.
Cucouroux: Okay, I'm ready! Let's go find ourselves some knickknacks, (Captain)! You too, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: Wha? I gotta go too? I think it's better if you just pick out whatever suits your tastes...
Cucouroux: Rgh! You need to keep track of what we'll be bringing in!
Camieux: Mm-hm! Because you're responsible for the foundry, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: Sigh... Fine, fine. Let's go already.
Uncle Dan: I wonder if I'm gonna be handling the account books too...
Unable to resist his nieces, Dan accompanies (Captain) and company for the excursion.
Lyria: Hello, Siero!
Sierokarte: Why, hello there! Good to see you, everyone!
Sierokarte: I heard everything from the Smiths' Guild already.
Sierokarte: The chambers of commerce are keeping a close eye on the movements of the Miners' Association. I'm rooting for you guys and your work with the alloy foundry.
Camieux: Thank you for the support!
Sierokarte: I'm sure you'll need lots of supplies, so feel free to order away! Siero Express will get you everything you need in a speedy manner!
Silva: That's really reassuring to know.
Cucouroux: Yeah, there's nothing we can't get our hands on if we just ask Siero!
Sierokarte: Oho, you say that again and I'll have to work doubly, triply hard to live up to your expectations!
Sierokarte: So what should we start with?
Cucouroux: Mom suggested we get a safe first to store rupies and important documents.
Sierokarte: In that case, I recommend this one!
Vyrn: Whoa, I can tell that thing's built to last!
Sierokarte: Mm-hm! Foolhardy is the skyfarer who forgoes a hardy safe!
Sierokarte: You can't really go wrong with this one! It's used by shopkeepers all over!
Cucouroux: Does that include you, Siero?
Sierokarte: Well, not for all my savings. But these are super handy in a pinch when I need to store some extra profit!
Cucouroux: Hm... If even you use it, then I'm sure it'll work for us too!
Cucouroux: Uncle Dan, is it okay if we go with this safe?
Uncle Dan: Hm? Sure, fine with me either way.
Cucouroux: You could try to show some enthusiasm, you know... Siero, we'll take it!
Sierokarte: One hardy safe sold! Appreciate the patronage!
Sierokarte: Will you be looking at other items today? Should I deliver everything together to the foundry?
Cucouroux: We'll just bring the safe back for now. The guild gave us a hefty amount of rupies. I'd feel safer knowing that it's all secure.
Sierokarte: I see! I'll lend you a handcart to help with that!
Camieux: Thanks, Siero!
As Sierokarte prepares the handcart, the crew pick out other items they'll need.
Sierokarte: Here you go!
Silva: Appreciate it, Siero. Well then...
Uncle Dan: Wait, wait, Silva! I'll load it onto the cart.
Silva: Huh?
Uncle Dan: Hrrgh... Whew, sure is heavy!
Uncle Dan: Ow, I might've sprained my back... This thing must weigh a ton!
Silva: Sorry about that, Dan. Think you'll be okay?
Uncle Dan: Oh, don't worry about me. I wasn't gonna let you kids do the heavy lifting for me... Yeowch.
Lyria: Haha, Dan's just really kind at heart.
Uncle Dan: Hey, I've never been one for compliments! Keep that up, and you're gonna give me a heart attack!
Uncle Dan: I'll head on back to the foundry with this and leave the rest to you, Cucouroux.
No sooner does he speak these words than he leaves dragging the pushcart behind him.
Vyrn: I wonder if he was feeling bashful.
Camieux: Uh-huh. Uncle Dan's really nice, but he doesn't like being told that.
Cucouroux: That part of him is why I can never despise Uncle Dan.
Cucouroux: Now if we can just get him to take his work seriously...

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 2: To the Alloy Foundry - Episode 2

Once the supplies have been procured, (Captain) and the others clean the alloy workshop well into the evening, at which time they realize that Uncle Dan has taken off as he is wont to do. Silva lets Cucouroux know that she's going off to hunt for him.

Having returned from the Knickknack Shack, the crew begins cleaning up the alloy foundry.
Cucouroux slips into something more comfortable and leads the cleanup operation.
After an initial swab of the floors, Sierokarte's delivery staff arrives with the other goods (Captain) and company ordered.
Cucouroux: Hrm, the bed can go in the back room on the second floor.
Camieux: Cucouroux! Where should I put the books they brought over?
Cucouroux: Ah! I forgot to order a bookshelf!
Uncle Dan: I suppose you can stack 'em on the floor here for now. Not like the space is being used anyway.
Camieux: Okay! Got it!
Vyrn: I'm done wiping the windows in this room! Which curtains did we say we were gonna use again?
Cucouroux: Oh, just give me a second!
You can go with the curtains in this box.
Silva: Watch out, Lyria! You'll knock over that basin!
Lyria: Aiiee!
Lyria trips over a heavy basin filled with water, but (Captain) is quick to help Lyria keep balance.
Lyria: Thanks, (Captain)! That was too close...
Working in great haste, they finish tidying up the place by evening.
Cucouroux: (Captain), Lyria, Vyrn, sorry for having you guys help out. But now we've got a comfy place to sleep at least!
Vyrn: Oh, it was nothing!
Her garments soiled from the cleanup, Silva puts on a fresh change of clothing and returns with a tray containing a teapot and teacups.
Silva: I made tea if anyone would like some.
Camieux: Thank you, Silva!
Silva: Hm? There's a leftover cup... Meaning...
Cucouroux: Ah! Uncle Dan's not here!
Lyria: Huh? Since when? I was just talking to him a moment ago!
Vyrn: Weren't you putting together the beds with him, (Captain)?
Cucouroux: Ugh... Why does he always go off like that?
Lyria: Should we go look for him, Cucouroux?
Cucouroux: But we're already done cleaning for the day... I don't want to get on his case too hard after all...
Cucouroux: Ah, I just remembered we need to make dinner soon. I hope he'll be back in time to eat at least...
Silva: Okay, I'll leave kitchen duty to you while I go look for Dan.
Silva: It might take a while. If we're not back by the time dinner's ready, you guys should eat up before the food gets cold.
Cucouroux: Sorry, Silva...
Silva: Nothing to apologize for. Off I go then.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 2: To the Alloy Foundry - Episode 3

Uncle Dan walks the streets of Valtz alone, attempting to reconcile his desire to leave the workshop with his sense of obligation to Cucouroux. Back at the alloy workshop, the family members have a dinnertime discussion about how Uncle Dan was always kind to Camieux and could get along with Mama Gunsmith if only he were more serious about work.

Uncle Dan: So this is where the fun stuff happens in town.
Dan walks around the crowded streets of Valtz.
Uncle Dan: Whoa!
Braggart: Ouch! How 'bout you watch where the hell you're goin', you old git!
Uncle Dan: Whoops, sorry about that! That was my bad.
Braggart: Ugh, you need to grow a pair of eyes! Damn geezer!
Uncle Dan: That was a close one... I'm just glad it didn't come to fists.
Uncle Dan: Yep, it's true. Nothing good comes from a fight...
Uncle Dan: I ought to know that, but...
Uncle Dan: Aw man, Cucouroux must be pissed at me. What a bummer... Yeah, I'm not ready to go back yet...
Vyrn: Whoa! I didn't think a candle could brighten up a room this much!
Vyrn: Now we can see what we're eating without a lamp!
Camieux: I'm sorry I completely forgot to set up some lamps...
Camieux: I know we have them on the Grandcypher, but it's docked a bit far from the foundry...
Lyria: Don't worry, Camieux! Using candles is kind of fun in its own way! Right, (Captain)?
Cucouroux: I'm glad you feel that way.
Cucouroux: The grilled cheese sandwiches are ready! Eat up while they're hot.
Lyria: Yum! That looks so good! Thanks, Cucouroux!
Relying on the dim light of the candles, (Captain) and company begin feasting on their dinner.
Vyrn: Hey, Camieux. Has your Uncle Dan always been like that?
Vyrn: He's your mom's brother, right? They're nearly polar opposites in terms of personality...
Camieux: As far back as I can remember, Uncle Dan's always been the way he is. He often just walks off without a word...
Camieux: But he definitely knows what he's doing as a gunsmith, and he's really nice to boot!
Camieux: When I was really small and Cucouroux was busy training at the gun workshop...
Camieux: I was all alone and so sad... But Uncle Dan would come cheer me up all the time!
Camieux: He even went out to buy me candy when he saw how upset I was.
Lyria: I guess your mom and Uncle Dan are alike in that they're both really kind then!
Camieux: Mm-hm! That's right!
Cucouroux: (Come to think of it, the candy that Uncle Dan used to bring us...)
Cucouroux: (Was probably bought using money earned from gambling...)
Cucouroux: (But the fact that he'd use that money to buy us candy shows he's not such a bad guy.)
Cucouroux: (If only he'd just take his work more seriously...)
Cucouroux: (He'd get along with my parents just fine...)

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 2: To the Alloy Foundry - Episode 4

Silva finds Uncle Dan in a tavern and challenges him to a drinking competition with the condition that if she wins, Dan has to treat his job as head of the alloy foundry seriously. Silva powers through to victory, and Dan vows to do his all in the service of family and foundry.

(Captain) and company are still enjoying their grilled cheese sandwiches.
Dan is at a tavern, ready to enjoy the local variety of drinks and snacks to go with them.
Uncle Dan: Let's see how they like their beer in Valtz...
Before he's able to put his mouth to the glass, a voice calls out from behind.
Uncle Dan: Hm? That you, Silva? What's up?
Uncle Dan: I thought I'd help myself to a drink. Care to join me?
Silva: ...
Silva: Okay... But on one condition.
Uncle Dan: Whoa, why you gotta make taking a sip so complicated?
Silva: I want you to engage me in a drinking contest.
Uncle Dan: A drinking contest? Well, that's a surprise coming from your serious, no-nonsense self.
Silva: If I win, I want you to take full responsibility and faithfully carry out your duties as the boss of the alloy foundry.
Uncle Dan: I didn't see that one comin'...
Silva: If you win, I promise we'll leave you alone about this whole matter.
Silva: Do we have an agreement?
While Dan is still at a loss for words, Silva gets seated and asks for a pitcher of beer and a glass.
Silva: Glug...
Uncle Dan: Holy moly, you have any idea how strong this is? Silva, I didn't take you for a drinker!
Silva: Dan, I...
Silva lets the beer gush down her throat before placing the glass back on the table.
Silva: I love Cucouroux and Camieux as if they were my real sisters...
Silva: And I respect Papa and Mama Gunsmith enough to see them as my second set of parents.
Uncle Dan: Y-yeah, I know that, but...
Though Dan hesitates, seeing him grab his glass is enough to send Silva chugging down another mouthful.
Silva: That's not all, Dan. You've helped us so much.
Silva: I learned how to take apart and reassemble all sorts of guns—not just sniper rifles—from you.
Silva: When I accidentally cracked open the sight one time, I was so nervous about going home with it like that. But you reassured me that everything would be okay.
Uncle Dan: That happened?
Ah, it's all coming back now...
Uncle Dan: But when I saw how sorry and afraid you were of going back...
Uncle Dan: All I did was tell you that the family wouldn't get angry over such a little thing...
Silva: You're a lot kinder than you give yourself credit for, Dan.
Uncle Dan: Eh, I don't know about that...
Silva: I...
Silva: I just want everyone from the gun workshop to be happy...
Silva: So please...
Silva: Don't run away this time... Face your responsibilities...
Uncle Dan: ...
Silva: For all of us...
Silva: ...
Uncle Dan: Urgh...
Uncle Dan: I don't think I can take another sip...
Silva: Well then...
Uncle Dan: All right, I lost.
Uncle Dan: ...
I suppose I can give it a shot.
Uncle Dan: You won fair and square after all.
Silva: ...
Uncle Dan: Hey, Silva. Oy... What am I gonna do with Silva asleep...
Dan is unsure of what to do with Silva, who is passed out with her face on the table.
His indecisive self may seem rather unreliable, but he made a promise to Silva.
And he intends to keep it.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 3: Opening the Safe - Episode 1

The next day, Galadar stops by the alloy foundry during breakfast to ask for the assistance of Silva, who consents with alacrity. Hearing the other members' impassioned discussion about alloys, Dan realizes that it's time to man up, but he still lacks confidence.

Cucouroux: Breakfast is ready! Wash your faces and get over here, everyone!
It is the morning after Silva and Dan's drinking competition.
The crew sits down to a breakfast Cucouroux has made for them.
Vyrn: Yawn... G'morning, Miss Gunsmith...
Cucouroux: Morning! Ahaha, you and (Captain) have bedsheet marks all over your face!
Lyria: Wow! Haha, you're twins!
Silva: Sorry I'm late...
Camieux: Silva, is everything okay? You don't look too hot...
Silva: I'm all good... Probably...
Camieux: Hm... Somehow I don't believe you...
Cucouroux: Is Uncle Dan still asleep? The bacon's gonna get cold—we'd better wake him up.
Uncle Dan: Hrrgh...
Camieux: Ah! Uncle Dan, good morning!
Uncle Dan: Yeah, morning.
Yawn...
Cucouroux: Good timing! I was just thinking we should get you while the food's still warm!
Uncle Dan: What's the word... Responsibility? Yeah, that's it. Figured I can start proving I've got what it takes by waking up early. Right, Silva?
Silva: Hehe... Yeah.
Cucouroux: Okay, let's dig in, everyone!
Vyrn: Chow time!
By the time they clear the table and start discussing the tasks for the day, a knock can be heard from the entrance.
Galadar: Rise and shine, mateys!
Cucouroux: Ah, Galadar! Welcome to the foundry!
Galadar: Oi, is Silva around by any chance?
Yeowie, I can hardly believe my eyes—dinnae think I've ever seen ye dazed like that.
Silva: Ah, sorry. I had a few things to take care of last night.
Silva: You were looking for me?
Galadar: Aye, the ol' guild's got a request tae make of ye.
Galadar: (Captain), I hate tae intrude on yer protection assignment, but is it all right if I borrow Silva?
(Captain) turns to Lyria.
Lyria: Erm, well... If Silva's fine with it, I don't see why not... What do you think, (Captain)?
Seeing (Captain) nod, Galadar's expression is one of relief.
Galadar: Goodie! Off we go, Silva!
Silva: Okay. I hope you don't mind taking care of my sisters, (Captain).
Camieux: We'll be okay, Silva!
Cucouroux: Okay then... Let's get to work, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: Right... But take it easy on me, will ya?
The gun experts lay out pertinent documents on the table and begin discussing alloy production.
Cucouroux: It's gotta be more than tough—it's gotta be pliable too.
Camieux: Weapons need to be able to absorb shock.
Vyrn: And a gun's gotta withstand gunpowder going off.
Cucouroux: You got that right. We make the alloy too stiff, and it's not gonna be very practical.
Uncle Dan: But let's not forget the metal composition we use nowadays was developed over a long period of time.
Uncle Dan: With that in mind, I doubt we're gonna be able to come up with something viable for mass production in a day or two.
Cucouroux: Hm... You're right... We need to start negotiations with the Miners' Association soon.
Cucouroux: We don't exactly have the luxury to take it slow with trial and error...
Cucouroux: Thinking outside the box might be key here...
Camieux: Hrm...
Uncle Dan: Well... One thing we could try is the high-grade route.
Camieux: High-grade?
Uncle Dan: You won't need that much alloy. Just a small bit would be enough to improve the specs of the equipment.
Uncle Dan: Oh, don't mind me. I'm just running off ideas as they come to me.
Cucouroux: No, that just might work!
Cucouroux: High-grade, eh... Use a tiny bit and presto...
Cucouroux: How about a material that makes it easier to enchant armaments with magic?
Cucouroux: Metal that has good affinity with magic goes for a high price and is usually tough to handle.
Camieux: Yeah! And if we combine it with another magic-friendly metal, we might be able to do some really cool stuff!
Uncle Dan: Whoa, hold it with the magical bam-bam talk. We all know how hard it is to get magic and metals to play nice.
Uncle Dan: If we're gonna go that direction, we'll need to think about the furnace too.
Cucouroux: Yeah, our funds from the guild aren't exactly unlimited.
Cucouroux: We need a furnace that can handle trace amounts of metal for experimentation without a hitch...
Camieux: But smaller furnaces can be really pricey.
Cucouroux: Using only trace amounts of metal makes the end result very unpredictable.
Uncle Dan: And if we're gonna talk about making special adjustments to the furnace, I think magic-oriented smiths would just build the furnace themselves.
Vyrn: Hm, you think so?
Uncle Dan: Uh-huh. Metal's gotta be melted down before it can be worked.
Uncle Dan: That's just what usually happens though. Metals that play nice with magic are melted at a crazy-high temperature.
Uncle Dan: But when it gets that hot, the material that the furnace is made of doesn't last.
Lyria: Ah, so that's why you need to cast a protection spell to prevent the furnace from breaking.
Uncle Dan: That's right. Furnaces infused with temperature-stabilizing magic would be hella convenient.
Cucouroux: The more convenient they are, the bigger the price tag...
Vyrn: Well... That's a given.
Lyria: It can't be easy with so many things to consider!
Cucouroux: Ahaha, sorry to bore you with all that smithing talk.
Lyria: Oh, not at all! It was interesting trying to learn all these new facts!
Lyria: I'm sure you all have your worries about how to make this work, but it sounds kind of fun.
Cucouroux: Ooh! I always knew you were a sharp one, Lyria!
Cucouroux: You're right! Brainstorming's always such a blast!
Camieux: There's so many metals we want to try playing with!
Uncle Dan: I'd rather do things the easy way...
Uncle Dan: (But as long as they're having fun...)
Cucouroux: Hm?
Uncle Dan: (My sis and her hubby love these girls so much, yet they left them with me...)
Uncle Dan: (I can't forget about that promise with Silva either... I've gotta man up and prove I'm up to the task...)
Uncle Dan: (Can't say I'm feeling confident though...)

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 3: Opening the Safe - Episode 2

Several days after (Captain) arrives at the alloy workshop, Dan shows no sign of slacking and all is peaceful. Cucouroux departs for the Knickknack Shack to purchase a furnace and, incidentally, check out Siero's dazzling selection of minerals.

Days have passed since (Captain) and company made the alloy foundry their home.
Although they still lack sufficient tools and ideas, every day manages to be a fulfilling one.
Cucouroux: Hehe...
Cucouroux: Hm? What's that, (Captain)? You caught me grinning?
Cucouroux: Ahaha, I had a lot to worry about before arriving in Valtz. But I'm a lot more laid-back now.
Cucouroux: Of course, I mean that in a good way! Just look at how Uncle Dan's gotten into the groove.
Cucouroux: Hm? He's been sneaking out at night for drinks?
Cucouroux: Ahaha, nothing wrong with blowing off some steam. He's earned it.
Fortunately Dan doesn't seem to be as consumed with sloth as Cucouroux's mother had feared.
Though he does wander off to nearby taverns rather frequently as (Captain) points out.
Lyria: Ah, Dan! Are you heading out now?
Uncle Dan: Yeah, I could go for a drink...
Uncle Dan: Wanna come along, (Captain)?
Lyria: Nuh-uh! (Captain)'s not of age yet!
Uncle Dan: Relax! I won't make the kid drink!
Uncle Dan: It's just lonely at the tavern all by myself, you know? But they do have soft drinks and snacks, if that's more your thing.
Uncle Dan: When it's lights-out for me, I'm gonna need someone to haul me back here after all.
Vyrn: So that's what you're really asking!
Vyrn: Then again, we're supposed to be protecting you, but it feels like we've been freeloading...
Vyrn: It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that we'd be protecting Dan on his way back.
Uncle Dan: Hey, don't think too hard about it. Good grub's waitin' on us.
(Captain) ends up accompanying Dan regularly on his trips to the tavern.
Vyrn: Dan must be a real social butterfly if he doesn't want to go out alone!
Lyria: Hehe, I'm sure there's more to it than that. He's probably trying to give us some protecting to do so we don't get bored.
Vyrn: You think so? We do have a lil' too much time to kill...
Lyria: Yes, I'm sure that's it! Especially considering how nice Dan is! Don't you think so too, (Captain)?
Vyrn: Well, if you two say so!
The halcyon days continue.
Lyria: ...?
Lyria: Ah, (Captain)! Good morning.
Lyria: There was someone peeking in the window just now. I thought I'd go say hello, but they disappeared.
Lyria: I wonder what that was about...
Cucouroux: Morning, (Captain), Lyria. Breakfast is ready.
Lyria: Good morning, Cucouroux!
Lyria: I'll be right there!
Cucouroux: (Captain), Uncle Dan. I'm gonna go take a little trip to the Knickknack Shack.
Uncle Dan: Ah, that's right. You mentioned placing an order for the furnace today.
Cucouroux: Mm-hm! Also gives me the chance to pick up some other supplies we'll need.
Uncle Dan: Yeah, you got this, Cucouroux. In the meantime, I'll...
Vyrn: Heheh! "Look after the foundry," right, Dan?
Uncle Dan: Heh, sounds like you've gotten to know me pretty well.
Uncle Dan: (Captain), I know you're here to protect us. But it's been pretty obvious that no one's out to get us. Maybe you can go help Cucouroux lug some of the new stuff back here?
Vyrn: All righty. Leave it to us!
(Captain) makes for the Knickknack Shack alongside Cucouroux and Camieux.
Sierokarte: Why, hello! I've been waiting for you two to show up!
Camieux: Hm? Was there something we left behind last time?
Sierokarte: Oh, no, this is something else entirely! Here, take this...
Cucouroux: What's this box...
Cucouroux: Whoa! It's a lot heavier than I thought it'd be!
(Captain) helps Cucouroux get the box open.
Camieux: Wow! I can't believe it!
Vyrn: What are these smooth metal thingamajigs? Are these coins?
Cucouroux: These are ingots! They're all cast into the same shape to make them easier to handle.
Sierokarte: I figured you'd want to try making different sorts of alloys, so I gathered all sorts of rare minerals to help you get started!
Sierokarte: I had to go through a secret supply route outside of the Miners' Association's reach, so I could only score a few of each.
Cucouroux: Every little bit helps! Could these be from Eureka Island?
Camieux: Huh? Didn't they shut down their mines a long time ago?
Cucouroux: Yeah, they did! Wow, this is the first time I've seen ingots from Eureka Island!
Cucouroux: Thanks a million, Siero! We'll see what we can do with this!
Sierokarte: Hehehe. My merchant senses are tingling already!

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 3: Opening the Safe - Episode 3

While Dan is alone in the foundry, a number of men burst in and announce that they've come to squelch operations before they begin in earnest, going so far as to threaten Cucouroux and sisters as leverage. In order to protect his three beloved nieces, Dan gives the men the guild funds contained in the safe.

Uncle Dan: Hrghh... A nice day like this is just perfect for sleeping in...
Uncle Dan: But I've really gotta get my act together... Guess I can start with the account books.
Something unexpected happens as Dan reaches for the foundry's safe.
Uncle Dan: Wh-what's that sound?
The door into the foundry has been pried open. A motley crowd of men come flooding in.
Cockeyed Man: Comin' in.
Uncle Dan: Who the heck are you guys? Get the hell out!
Uncle Dan: Urgh!
Cockeyed Man: Tch, next time you're decidin' who gets to house-sit, make it the girls!
The cockeyed man kicks Dan in the knee, sending him plunging to the ground as the others gather around.
Uncle Dan: Urgh... The hell is your problem?
Cockeyed Man: Some big shot's hired us to bust up your l'il joint before it can get goin'.
Cockeyed Man: Says you runts would just get in the way of business.
Uncle Dan: ...!
Damned Miners'—
Uncle Dan: Ow, ow, ow!
Cockeyed Man: All right. Sounds like ya get the big picture.
Cockeyed Man: If ya know what's good for ya, then you're gonna pack yer bags and hightail it outta here!
Uncle Dan: Ergh!
Uncle Dan: (Aw crap... Some big shot, he says... These guys already scare the bejeezus outta me!)
Uncle Dan: (I've gotta make a run for it somehow... No, wait, I scram and this foundry's done for...)
Uncle Dan: (Gah... Damn it!)
Uncle Dan: (Not to mention I'd never be able to live with myself if I let Cucouroux, Camieux, and Silva down! They're all depending on me!)
Cockeyed Man: Pssh, what's with that look in yer eyes? Ya got any idea the situation you're in?
Cockeyed Man: Maybe we need to bruise those girls up a bit for this chum to be more cooperative.
Uncle Dan: Urgh!
Cockeyed Man: Maybe take a finger or two... Any smith worth their salt is gonna need those...
Uncle Dan: No, stop! My nieces are all good kids!
Uncle Dan: If you're gonna do anything, do it to me!
Uncle Dan: Leave my nieces out of it!
Cockeyed Man: Know yer place, ya piece of junk!
Uncle Dan: P-please! My nieces deserve so much better!
Cockeyed Man: Yer in no position to be makin' demands.
Cockeyed Man: Though I suppose ya could start by showin' us some damn respect!
Uncle Dan: I...
Uncle Dan: I can pay you! Enough to make it worth your while!
Uncle Dan: I'll give you more than whatever that big shot's paying you!
Cockeyed Man: Heh... Now yer talkin' our language.
Uncle Dan: Then—
Cockeyed Man: Don't be gettin' yer hopes up yet! Bring out the cash, then we'll talk!
Uncle Dan: Rgh...
Dan slowly makes his way toward the safe in the back.
Uncle Dan: (I know... I know this money's from the guild and not for personal use, but...)
Uncle Dan: (If this'll keep Cucouroux and Camieux safe, I'll take whatever blame comes my way later!)
Uncle Dan: ...!
He forcefully opens the safe and hands the cash over to the intruders.
Uncle Dan: Just take it and go already!
Cockeyed Man: Hahah! Attaboy.
Cockeyed Man: We're done here, fellas!
The cockeyed man snatches the money from Dan's hands and leads his men out.
Left all alone now, Dan crumples to his knees.
Uncle Dan: I've done it...
I've really done it!
Uncle Dan: But I... had no other choice!
Cockeyed Man: One, two, three... Whew, sure worked up a sweat.
Feckless Man: You sure it's gonna be cool, what with us ditchin' our assignment like that?
Cockeyed Man: No one's ditchin' any assignment—get that through yer head. Ya wouldn't want good money to go to waste, would ya?
Cockeyed Man: We'll finish up the job. Just wanted to collect on some pocket change while we were at it! Hahah!
Feckless Man: Y-you sure that ain't gonna be a problem?
Cockeyed Man: It'll be fine! We've got the boss of the Miners' Association on our side!
Cockeyed Man: Get that fire started! Time to wipe this stinkin' foundry off the island!
Uncle Dan: ...
Camieux: Uncle Dan! We're back!
Vyrn: Huh? Whatcha doin' sulking on the ground, Dan? Something got you down?
Uncle Dan: Oh, it's nothing... You guys buy everything you needed?
Cucouroux: Yep, we got it all! We bought freshly baked bread from the bakery too!
Cucouroux: You must be starving, Uncle Dan, since it's past our usual lunchtime! Let's set the table right away!
Uncle Dan: R-right...
Uncle Dan: ...

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 3: Opening the Safe - Episode 4

Cucouroux has returned from the Knickknack Shack and is preparing the evening meal when Vyrn realizes that the outer wall of the alloy foundry is aflame. Although the occupants are able to extinguish the fire, some of the men who took money from Uncle Dan soon reappear to finish destroying the workshop as they were ordered. A battle ensues between (Captain)'s party and the men.

Feckless Man: We have the material to start a fire on the ready...
Feckless Man: We really gonna go through with this?
Cockeyed Man: The hell are ya sayin'?
Weak-Willed Man: I mean, we got our money already... Now that the girls are back, if their faces got burned, it could scar them for life...
Cockeyed Man: They oughta count their blessings just for bein' alive! Now cut the crap and get movin'!
The cockeyed man strikes a flint, setting the fire that will soon engulf the entire foundry.
Meanwhile Cucouroux is making soup in the kitchen.
Cucouroux: La-di-da!
Vyrn: Mm, get a whiff of that...
Vyrn: Hm?
Camieux: What's wrong?
Vyrn: Is it just me or is something burning?
Cucouroux: Uh-oh! Don't tell me I've just ruined our new pot!
Vyrn: Nah, the smell's coming from the window actually...
Vyrn follows the odor to the window, takes a look outside, and lets out a terrified shriek.
Vyrn: Oh, crud! A fire's started along the outside wall!
Camieux: Fire?
Camieux: Th-th-there's a fire?
Yikes! What are we supposed to do?
Cucouroux: Water! Form a bucket brigade to the water tank on the double!
Lyria: O-okay!
Cucouroux: Ready!
Uncle Dan: Give it here!
Vyrn: Gotcha!
Camieux: I got you!
Lyria: Take it, (Captain)!
The window wide open, (Captain) grabs each bucket handed to him and pours it over the fire.
Fortunately the flames have not spread too far yet and quickly wither away after a few bucketfuls of water.
Cucouroux: All righty! Fire's gone. Nice job, everyone!
Camieux: Phew... Lucky us!
Lyria: Vyrn, give me five!
Vyrn: Hehe, now's not the time!
Vyrn: How'd a fire start outside anyhow?
Cucouroux: Maybe that bottle lying over there acted like a lens, concentrating sunlight...
Uncle Dan: ...
Oh no, it can't be...
Cockeyed Man: Whatever yer guessin' just might be on the mark.
Camieux: Hey!
Camieux: Wh-who do you think you are, you shmuck!
Cockeyed Man: Big talk from a little girl, eh? We're just a few guys lookin' to make a quick rupie by smashin' yer foundry.
Cucouroux: You're after our foundry?
Cucouroux: You set the fire?
Cockeyed Man: Figured that'd be enough to scare ya ladies off... But we might just have to take the gloves off now.
Cockeyed Man: I guess campfires work better at night.
Incensed at the man's words, (Captain) readies a weapon.
Cockeyed Man: Humph... Not gonna back off, I see. Heck, if they got a runt like you protectin' it, this place is a bigger joke than I thought.
Vyrn: You're gonna be sorry when (Captain) mops the floor with you!
Camieux: (Captain), let's turn 'em into swiss cheese together!
Camieux: No one sets fire to our foundry and gets away with it!
Cockeyed Man: Hahah! This is startin' to feel like a kid's squabble!
Cockeyed Man: I'll show you how a grown-up roughs it out!
Cucouroux: Heh, your faces'll be rougher than the pavement by the time we're done with you! C'mon, (Captain)!

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 4: Can't Say We Trust You - Episode 1

With the others' help, (Captain) turns over the men to the guards, and at the guard station Uncle Dan provides an account of the burglary. Having heard the news, a worried Mama Gunsmith rushes to the alloy foundry only to discover that the safe has been emptied.

After overpowering the thugs who set fire to the foundry...
(Captain) and company tie them up to hand over to the local authorities.
Cockeyed Man: Tch...
Uncle Dan: Why, you—
Camieux: You doofy doofuses have some real nerve pulling this off!
Cucouroux: This is why Galadar suggested that we have protection... Thank you, (Captain).
Lyria: I'm just glad we're all okay!
Uncle Dan: (Captain), I never imagined you to be so strong...
Vyrn: I guess that's the first time you caught (Captain) in action, huh?
Vyrn: Heheh, with (Captain) around, these third-rate thugs don't stand a chance!
The crew turns the knaves over to the local authorities, who arrive promptly.
Camieux: Shouldn't we have dressed them down to find out why they came after us?
Cucouroux: The guards who just took them away probably have more experience doing that. Best to just leave it to them.
Cucouroux: We need to focus on relaying what went down here to the guild and the archduke.
Camieux: Aye, aye! Roger that!
Uncle Dan: ...
Camieux: Uncle Dan? You don't look too well. Why not rest up in your room?
Uncle Dan: Ah... I, um, I think I'll be fine.
Uncle Dan: The burns on the wall call for a repaint job. I'll ask this carpenter I know from the tavern.
Cucouroux: Thanks, Uncle Dan! That'll be a big help!
The crew gets to contacting the concerned parties.
Mama Gunsmith, also having caught word of the incident, comes by to check on her daughters.
Mama Gunsmith: Cucouroux, Camieux! Everyone... I'm so glad you're all okay!
Camieux: Mommy! You came to see us!
Mama Gunsmith: Of course. I knew I had to come when I heard what happened. Besides, I'm sure there are things I can help out with.
Mama Gunsmith: ...
So where's the boss of this place? I sure don't see him anywhere...
Cucouroux: Uncle Dan's at the guard station! They had more questions for him about the fire.
Mama Gunsmith: Oh, I see...
Mama Gunsmith: I just hope he's doing his job.
Camieux: Mm-hm! Uncle Dan's been working real hard ever since we got here!
Vyrn: Yeah, he even wakes up early to get a head start on things! Have to admit he looks half-asleep sometimes though.
Cucouroux: Ahaha, I noticed that too. But he still gets the job done either way.
Wanting to get a complete picture of Dan's work ethic, Mama Gunsmith asks the others as well and is relieved by what she hears.
Mama Gunsmith: Ah, I almost forgot I packed lunches. I figured you'd be too swamped to make your own food.
Camieux: Yay! I was starting to miss Mommy's cooking!
Cucouroux: You're the best, Mom! I've been on kitchen duty lately, so I can doubly appreciate the effort that goes into making a good meal!
Mama Gunsmith: Dig right in! Can't very well work on an empty stomach, y'know!
Lyria: Thank you, Mama Gunsmith!
Vyrn: Nom, nom...
Mama Gunsmith: Hm, there must be something I can do while you're all eating.
Cucouroux: Well... Let's see...
Cucouroux: Yeah! There is!
Cucouroux: Mom, can you take a look at the ledger?
Cucouroux: I already double-checked it with Uncle Dan, but it wouldn't hurt to have another look from a trained pair of eyes.
Mama Gunsmith: Sure thing. Account-checking can be a real time sink if you're not used to it after all.
Cucouroux takes a break from her meal to lead Mama Gunsmith to the safe.
Cucouroux: Okay, here we go...
Cucouroux: Hm?
Mama Gunsmith: What's wrong, Cucouroux?
Cucouroux: Wait a minute...
Uncle Dan: I'm back!
Camieux: Ah! Uncle Dan, welcome home! Did the guards say anything?
Uncle Dan: Nah, nothing in particular...
Mama Gunsmith: You!
Camieux: Eeep! I-I'm so sorry!
Mama Gunsmith: What have you done!
Uncle Dan: Aiie!
Vyrn: Whoa, we need to cool it, Mama Gunsmith! What's gotten you so riled up?
Mama Gunsmith: This is unforgivable!
A pale-faced Cucouroux follows behind Mama Gunsmith, who is ready to explode.
Cucouroux: ...
Camieux: Cucouroux? What happened? You don't look well...
Cucouroux: Erm, well...
Cucouroux: The money we got from the guild... isn't in the safe.
Mama Gunsmith: ...

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 4: Can't Say We Trust You - Episode 2

At the foundry Mama Gunsmith directs a barrage of questions toward Uncle Dan, and despite Cucouroux's attempt to restrain her, the overwhelmed Uncle Dan rushes out. When Mama Gunsmith says that Uncle Dan is a screw-up through and through, Cucouroux is at a loss to respond.

Camieux: Th-the money's gone? H-how is that possible...
Uncle Dan: ...
Mama Gunsmith: It's you! Do you have any idea what you've done!
Uncle Dan: ...!
Mama Gunsmith: That was not just any money! The future of every smithy associated with the guild was riding on that cash!
Camieux: W-wait, Mommy! Can we get the facts straight first?
Camieux: Uncle Dan isn't the type of person to take all that money for himself!
Cucouroux: That's right, Mom... Ah, there's gotta be a reason for this...
Cucouroux: Like, maybe one of those thugs who started the fire snuck away and made off with the money while we were fighting them!
Mama Gunsmith: But there's no damage to the safe! This was obviously opened by someone with the key—
Mama Gunsmith: In other words... You!
Uncle Dan: ...!
Lyria: Ah! Dan, wait!
Cucouroux: Uncle... Why...
Cucouroux: Why are you trying to get away?
A heavy silence fills the room. Cucouroux sinks to the ground.
Mama Gunsmith: Humph, running off again when the going gets tough, huh?
Camieux: I'm sure it was just Uncle Dan getting scared because you were so angry with him! He'll be back...
Mama Gunsmith: Sigh...
"Oh, Uncle Dan? He's a cool guy, if not the most reliable," is what you're thinking, right?
Mama Gunsmith: I'd tell myself the same thing back in the day.
Mama Gunsmith: But no... Uncle Dan is just messed up through and through.
Cucouroux: Mom...
Mama Gunsmith: You know, your grandfather and great grandfather had high hopes for Dan.
Mama Gunsmith: But around the time your father started showing talent, Dan sort of stopped caring.
Mama Gunsmith: He didn't even bother to come back when your grandfather had that accident.
Cucouroux: Accident? You don't mean...
Mama Gunsmith: That's exactly what I'm talking about. Can you believe Uncle Dan didn't even show his face at the funeral?
Mama Gunsmith: Disgusting, isn't it?
Mama Gunsmith: I mean, Dan wasn't exactly on the best terms with everyone in the family from the point he started goofing around...
Mama Gunsmith: But it's still messed up, you know?
Cucouroux: Mom...
Camieux: ...

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 4: Can't Say We Trust You - Episode 3

(Captain) and crew leave the crestfallen Mama Gunsmith to Cucouroux and go to search for Uncle Dan. One of the men who attacked the foundry returns a share of his spoils, whereby (Captain) and the rest learn that Dan handed over the money to protect his nieces. The hunt for Uncle Dan carries on.

Mama Gunsmith: ...
Mama Gunsmith: Sorry you had to hear all that, (Captain).
Vyrn: Nah, it's cool...
Mama Gunsmith: Cucouroux, what are we going to do about payment to (Captain)'s crew?
Cucouroux: Ah, I spoke to the guild about that. They said they'll pay (Captain) directly when the mission's over, so it'll be fine.
Mama Gunsmith: Glad to hear that. We should get your father here too to help figure out the financial situation.
Mama Gunsmith and Cucouroux head toward the back room to make sure they didn't miss anything with the safe.
Camieux: Uncle Dan...
Camieux: ...
Camieux: (Captain)! I'll go look for Uncle Dan!
Camieux: I don't think it's fair to him if we don't listen to his side of the story too. So...
Vyrn: Good point! Let's go look for him together, (Captain)!
Lyria: Yeah, let's! It's possible a thief might've snuck in after all!
Being in full agreement, they all decide to look for Dan as a group.
Cucouroux: Ah... Camieux, you're gonna look for Uncle Dan?
Camieux: Uh-huh! We can't just leave things like this!
Cucouroux: Hm, I guess you're right.
Cucouroux: I'd like to come along too, but...
Cucouroux: Mom really needs the moral support right now, so...
Lyria: It's okay, Cucouroux. Please stay with your mom.
Lyria: You can count on us to find Uncle Dan!
Cucouroux: Thanks, Lyria, (Captain)...
Having alleviated Cucouroux's concerns somewhat, the crew heads for town.
Camieux: Dan! Uncle Dan, where are you!
Vyrn: C'mon out, Dan! The foundry's waitin' for ya!
(Captain) and company run around town, hoping their search will turn up something.
Lyria: Where could he have gone...
Vyrn: The usual tavern he hits up isn't open yet.
Camieux: Where could he be off to without an umbrella in this rain!
They discuss going separate ways to expand the perimeter of their search when a voice calls out.
???: Um...
Camieux: Eep! A-are you some kinda creep!
Weak-Willed Man: Sorry if I startled you... You're with the alloy foundry, right?
Camieux: Uh-uh, I'm the one who's sorry. I get scared so easily...
Camieux: Who are you people anyway?
Feckless Man: Erm... Ahem, well... You know how some punks set fire to the foundry? Well, we're kind of with them...
Vyrn: Ergh!
Vyrn: So there were more of you! We'll just have to round you up—
Weak-Willed Man: S-sorry, sorry, sorry!
Feckless Man: It wasn't us! Promise! We dropped out when we saw what messed up stuff they were doing!
Feckless Man: The two of us are from a poor mining town and were forced to help with the crap they pulled! You didn't see us when the fight started, right?
Vyrn: Yeah, this is the first I'm seeing of you guys. Still though...
Vyrn: Wait... If you didn't clash with us, who is it that roughed you up so bad then?
Feckless Man: A beatdown was kinda part of the deal when we said we'd be breaking away from them...
Feckless Man: We were told we'd be collecting money. But when it came to setting fires and getting into brawls, I knew I couldn't be a part of it anymore.
Weak-Willed Man: I couldn't stand it either... I'll just have to go job-hunting farther from home in the future.
Weak-Willed Man: So, um... This isn't all of it, but can you please give this back to that old fellow at the foundry?
Lyria: Hm? Doesn't that symbol on the bag belong to the Smiths' Guild?
Camieux: Mm-hm, mm-hm! That means this money...
Feckless Man: The foundry fella offered us money if we promised not to hurt any of you ladies.
Camieux: Then Uncle Dan...
Weak-Willed Man: Sorry for the intrusion. We'll be on our way now...
Camieux: Uncle Dan... was only trying to protect us...
Lyria: He was worried about what they might do to his precious nieces...
Lyria: They're a dangerous enough group to start a fire after all...
Vyrn: Darn it!
Vyrn: Dan shoulda just told us outright!
Vyrn: If only he knew that (Captain) could easily kick their booties back to wherever they came from!
Vyrn: Why couldn't you have a little more faith in us, Dan!
Camieux: Uncle Dan...
Camieux: ...
Lyria: Ah! Wait, Camieux!
Lyria: C'mon, we need to catch up, (Captain)!

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 4: Can't Say We Trust You - Episode 4

(Captain) and compatriots find the rain-drenched Uncle Dan on the outskirts of town. Dan insists that he acted like a thief no matter what reason he might've had; Camieux, however, rebuts that Dan's refusal to explain would mean he doesn't trust his nieces and implores him to stop running away. The message seems to get through.

Uncle Dan: ...
Dan seats himself on a rock near the outskirts of town.
Uncle Dan: Why do I always fudge things up...
Camieux: Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: ...!
Cam...
Uncle Dan: Urgh!
Camieux: You big dummy!
Camieux leaps into Uncle Dan's arms as if she were trying to headbutt him.
Camieux: If you've got your reasons, then just come out with 'em!
Camieux: Do you know how worried we were when you just went off without telling us anything?
Uncle Dan: Camieux, you...
Vyrn: We just met a few of the guys who threatened you and heard what happened.
Uncle Dan: I see...
Uncle Dan: Still though, any excuse I give doesn't change the fact that I stole money. And I don't have a way to return it either—that makes me a thief.
Camieux: But running away like you did is an absolute no-no!
Camieux: You didn't tell us a thing... That just shows you don't really trust us!
Camieux: How could we not suspect you when you go off without a word!
Camieux: We wanted so hard to believe you had your reasons, but we couldn't... Do you know hard that was on us?
Uncle Dan: Camieux...
Camieux: When I was first started training as an apprentice gunpowder mixer, the smallest crackle or pop would make me go super nervous...
Camieux: I was a wreck really, but I stood my ground and earned everyone's respect over time.
Camieux: But that was possible only because of Daddy and Cucouroux's faith in me! The other smiths trusted them.
Camieux: And so they trusted me. It was like a circle of trust.
Uncle Dan: Yeah, I remember that. You worked your butt off. There's no denying that...
Uncle Dan: But my situation—
Camieux: See! You're trying to run again! Stop! Doing! That!
Camieux: Trust has to be built up from the ground, and that has to start somewhere... So...
Camieux: So...
Camieux: Stop running... from me, from (Captain), and from Mommy!
Camieux: Don't be a quitter! Be a winner!
Dan chews on Camieux's words.
Uncle Dan: A winner, eh...
Dan's barely audible murmur is drowned out by the sound of the rain.
But a change is beginning to take shape in his heart.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 5: Looking Past the Rain - Episode 1

While on assignment to research the islands, Silva hears news from Galadar about the attack on the alloy foundry. Her investigation indicates the assault was likely instigated by avaricious radicals in the Miners' Association, and in an attempt to reign them in, she decides to talk with a certain someone.

By Galadar's request, Silva accepted a guild assignment requiring her to traverse various islands.
She has returned to report her findings to Galadar and learns of the trouble at the alloy foundry.
Silva: Please tell me everyone's okay!
Galadar: Aye, all's well. (Captain) and them learned o' the fire soon enough, and they can definitely hold their own against a few thugs.
Silva: Well, that's certainly a relief.
Silva: As for who would target the foundry, my bet's on the radical faction of the Miners' Association.
Galadar: Aye, sounds aboot right... The foundry's nothin' but a constant pain in th' neck for them.
Galadar: Makes sense they'd want tae blow th' guild's ace in th' hole tae gain th' upper hand in negotiations.
Silva: Seems pretty heavy-handed. They must really want to strengthen whatever foothold they already have.
Galadar: Did yer investigation turn up anything?
Silva: Yes. It all began with a change in the coal mines on Sidheros Island owned by the Epice Trading Federation.
Galadar: Ain't that where they send convicts tae slave away in the mines? Least that's how th' rich merchant families dish oot punishment.
Silva: The government of Epice caught wind of the corruption and launched an investigation. Work at roughly half the mines has been temporarily suspended.
Silva: As a result the power balance within the Miners' Association has shifted.
Galadar: I jalouse th' bad apples among them tae be the ones leadin' the radical faction.
Silva: Their leader has been amassing capital, using it in unscrupulous ways to shut out the other members of the association.
Galadar: Makes me sick tae the stomach just hearin' aboot it. Could never stand 'em rotten profiteers.
Galadar: Ye've gotta help everyone involved if ye want the business tae last. They dinnae seem tae get that.
Silva: (Captain) and I can take out any more thugs they send our way.
Silva: But... that won't solve the problem. If anything, that'd worsen our cause.
Galadar: Goin' after th' alloy foundry is one thing, but who kens what else they might go after, eh...
Galadar: How easy it'd be if we could just smack 'em silly an' call it a day, eh? But like ye said, wouldn't be much of a solution.
Galadar: So how d'we move forward, ye think?
Silva: I have an idea.
Silva: If it goes well, it just might be the key to resolving this whole ordeal.
Galadar: Why, I'll kiss me bearded hammer if that's true!
Silva: There's someone I need to talk to about it first.
Silva: Even they should be concerned about how things might pan out. Let's hope I'm right.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 5: Looking Past the Rain - Episode 2

Once Uncle Dan is accounted for, (Captain) and the others choose to have him hide in the ship. Cucouroux had been blaming herself for this series of incidents, but after her parents encourage her, she's able to approach her work with a new sense of enthusiasm.

Camieux: I'm back, Cucouroux!
Cucouroux: Heya, Cammy!
Cucouroux: Where are (Captain) and the others?
Camieux: They figured Dan could use a break before coming back here and went to the airship.
Cucouroux: Oh...
Cucouroux: That sounds like a good idea. Thanks, Cammy! I'm glad you found Uncle Dan.
Camieux: Where's Mom by the way?
Cucouroux: She went to the Knickknack Shack to get help calling for Dad to come here.
Cucouroux: Ah, Cammy. Come here, you're all wet! I'll wipe you down real good!
Camieux: Okay! Thanks, Sis!
The crew spends the night aboard the Grandcypher with Dan.
In the afternoon of the following day, Papa Gunsmith arrives at the alloy foundry.
Papa Gunsmith: Good work, Coux. It can't have been easy...
Cucouroux: It's okay, Dad... I'm the one who asked to come out here after all. If only I'd handled things better...
Papa Gunsmith: Coux. It's time to stop kicking yourself for what happened.
Papa Gunsmith: We all have our regrets. That goes just as much for me as it does for Dan.
Papa Gunsmith: But no matter how much we cry over spilt milk, the only thing we can do is move on!
Cucouroux: Dad...
Cucouroux: Mm... You're right! I have to look forward, not backward!
Papa Gunsmith: Mm-hm! We should just be thankful the fire died before it could get any bigger.
Papa Gunsmith: Imagine how much money it would've cost if the entire foundry went up in flames! What did end up happening was a million times better!
Cucouroux: That's for sure! Ahaha, thank goodness we were able to douse the fire so fast.
Cucouroux: We'll have to stand our ground if we're to show the Smiths' Guild that we can be trusted!
Cucouroux: I've got this, Dad!

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 5: Looking Past the Rain - Episode 3

When Galadar visits the alloy foundry, Cucouroux apologizes for the loss of the guild funds and vows to recover them. He replies that when one fails, one must choose whether to turn away or face failure head-on. Hearing this, Cucouroux turns her thoughts to Uncle Dan.

Galadar: Oi, comin' in!
Papa Gunsmith: Galadar! I'm so sorry for—
Galadar: Aye, nae need for that. I'm just glad everyone's safe.
Galadar: Them miners sure dinnae play fair. And we willnae stand for it!
Papa Gunsmith: So those thugs were hired by the Miners' Association after all...
Papa Gunsmith: Hoo boy, it's not gonna be good for business if their relationship with the guild continues to go down the drain.
Galadar: Well, I'm sure there's more than a few in their organization who dinnae like th' way they're handlin' things.
Papa Gunsmith: I hope you're right...
Cucouroux: Dad, we need to talk...
Cucouroux: Ah, Galadar!
Cucouroux: I can't apologize enough for everything that's happened!
Galadar: Nae, it's quite all right—
Cucouroux: But! This is all the more reason for us to keep our research going!
Cucouroux: Uncle Dan's got so many ideas! And we have so many minerals from the Knickknack Shack to experiment with!
Cucouroux: That's why...
Galadar: Dahahaha!
Galadar: I thought ye'd be down in the dumps, but I suppose nae daughter o' Papa Gunsmith stays down for long! Go get 'em, lassie.
Galadar: The guild'll be pickin' out a few able workers tae send oor way too.
Galadar: Hope ye can tide things over till then, Cucouroux.
Cucouroux: Heh, now you've got me all fired up.
Cucouroux: You still believe in me after what happened, Galadar?
Galadar: Dahahaha! Ye bet yer socks I do!
Galadar: Failure's a part o' life. Whether ye turn away or face it head-on...
Galadar: Is what'll define ye in the long run.
Galadar: As for ye, Cucouroux, ye've certainly taken a firm stand.
Galadar: Dahahahaha!
Galadar lets out a hearty chuckle as he gives Cucouroux a strong pat on the back.
Cucouroux: (Running from failure or confronting it...)
Cucouroux: (Which will Dan choose?)
Cucouroux: (I just pray he'll own up to his responsibilities...)
Cucouroux: (I want to place my faith in him, but...)
Cucouroux: (It's not just me at stake here...)
Cucouroux: (If things don't pan out, too many people would be affected... I...)
Mama Gunsmith: The tea's ready. Here you go, Galadar.
Galadar: Why, thank ye!
Mama Gunsmith: Cucouroux, what's wrong? Is there something on my face?
Cucouroux: Ah, it's nothing! Don't mind me!
Cucouroux: (Was this how Mom felt every time?)
Cucouroux: (I'm putting all my chips on you, Uncle Dan... Don't let us down!)

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 5: Looking Past the Rain - Episode 4

One day while he's hiding aboard the ship, Uncle Dan asks (Captain) and shipmates to shuttle him to other islands. While en route Dan confesses that, following his father's accidental death, he was unable to show himself and ceded control of the gun workshop to Papa Gunsmith. (Captain) agrees to support Uncle Dan's attempt to make amends.

Lyria: Hrm...
Lyria: (Captain)... Shouldn't we send Dan back to the foundry soon?
Lyria: If he stays on the ship for days, it'll only be harder for him to face everyone later.
Vyrn: Good point... We ought to persuade him to—
Uncle Dan: Hey.
Lyria: Eep!
Lyria: Ah... It's you, Dan!
Uncle Dan: Erm, I just wanna say thanks. For letting me stay here and all.
Uncle Dan: And well, this is hard for me to ask, but...
Uncle Dan: Is there any chance you can use this ship to fly me to another island?
Vyrn: Hm?
Vyrn: Whoa, what's gotten into your head, buddy? Don't tell me you're gonna make a break for it!
Uncle Dan: No, no, that's not it! Relax, I won't do what my old man did...
Lyria: Your old man? He was the previous chief of the gun workshop, right?
Uncle Dan: Yep. He was one heck of a scary geezer. You couldn't kill him off if you tried.
Uncle Dan: That's why it was such a shocker when he had some sorta accident and just bought the farm.
Vyrn: And when it came time for the funeral...
Uncle Dan: So you heard, eh? It's true. I wasn't there to say goodbye.
Uncle Dan: Some part of me couldn't accept that it'd be the last I see of my old man.
Uncle Dan: I was always told I'd take over as chief of the gun workshop someday, but it never felt right.
Uncle Dan: My lil' sister's really got her act together. I figured she'd make a much better fit than me.
Uncle Dan: And then there was Cucouroux and Camieux's dad, who came into the picture as the latest apprentice. His skills in the craft really showed.
Uncle Dan: He got along with my sis real well, and the elders were pushing for them to take over the gun workshop.
Uncle Dan: But telling me my whole life that the workshop would be mine one day, only to suddenly pull the rug from under me probably didn't sit right with them.
Uncle Dan: Wasn't easy being in the middle of it all...
Uncle Dan: So when I heard my old man had an accident, this idea just sprung up, you know?
Uncle Dan: Figured the elders and other smiths would be more comfortable choosing my sis and his hubby over a damn ingrate.
Lyria: So you didn't go home?
Uncle Dan: Yeah... I was a moron—I'll admit it. There are so many ways I could've handled things better...
Uncle Dan: But back then, it was the only way out I could see...
Uncle Dan: By the time I did get back, my old man was gone.
Uncle Dan: Who'd have thought that hard-ass could actually kick the bucket... I couldn't believe it at first, but the raging look in my sister's eyes told me everything.
Vyrn: Dan... It's obvious you're a super nice guy...
Vyrn: But you're also really whacked-out in other ways!
Vyrn: Why you gotta go and mess up the good parts of yourself?
Uncle Dan: First Camieux, now you... I'm a hopeless nutjob, aren't I?
Uncle Dan: If I was just gonna fight with my sis all the time, I might as well have made my departure from the workshop permanent...
Uncle Dan: Heck, I couldn't bear to do that either. I ended up just half-assing it the whole way.
Uncle Dan: Geez, what a flaming scumbag I must be, right? And then there was that whole money-from-the-safe incident.
Lyria: Dan...
Uncle Dan: But this time... things'll be different. I'm gonna take back what's ours.
Uncle Dan: It might be too late already, but I've gotta give it a shot at least...
Vyrn: Yeah, I see what you're saying, Dan.
Whaddya say, (Captain)?
Vyrn: If he's willing to put up a fight, I say we give him a hand.
  1. Let's see this through together!
  2. You sure Mama Gunsmith'll be cool with it?

Choose: Let's see this through together!
Vyrn: Yep! We'll stick to you like gum on a shoe. You try to pull anything funny...
Vyrn: And we'll knock you to your senses with a good boot to the booty!
Uncle Dan: Heheh... Glad you're with me.

Choose: You sure Mama Gunsmith'll be cool with it?
Uncle Dan: Eh, I'm not too worried about that. I don't expect her to forgive me actually.
Uncle Dan: It's probably too late to be making amends, but I've still gotta do what I can.
Lyria: That resolve you feel is what counts.
Lyria: As long as you have that...
Lyria: We'll do what we can do to help out, Dan!
Uncle Dan: Appreciate it.
Continue 1
(Captain) willingly transports Dan to the island of his choice.
Uncle Dan: Thanks a bunch, (Captain), Vyrn, Lyria.
Uncle Dan: I hope I'll be able to see this one through to the end...
Vyrn: "Hope"? Nuh-uh! You will kick butt to the end!
Lyria: Dan simply doesn't want to tell a lie. I know how he feels.
Vyrn: Better than selling yourself short, I guess... Then again, that's why people don't get him...
Dan gives an awkward smile.
The streaks of pouring rain visible outside the Grandcypher's windows begin to lighten up.
But whether the heavy fog cast over the crew will clear up is anyone's guess.

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 6: A Brighter Tomorrow - Episode 1

At Uncle Dan's request, (Captain) and ship are bound for islands affiliated with the Miners' Association. Dan hopes to find an ally within the more pacifist wing of the Association but is rebuffed everywhere he goes. Nonetheless he resists his impulse to flee and continues barnstorming through the islands.

The crew has transported Dan to his destination.
Its location on the map suggests an island with coal mines.
Vyrn: All these coal mines in the area can only mean this island's part of the Miners' Association.
Vyrn: In other words, enemy territory. Now why would Dan bring us out to a place like this?
Lyria: I know he said he's just gonna have a talk at some office, but I'm still worried...
Vyrn: Considering they sent a bunch of toughs to the alloy foundry, I know what you mean.
Lyria: Ah! Dan, you're back!
Uncle Dan: Sorry to keep you waiting.
Lyria: Eep! What happened to your cheek, Dan?
Lyria: It's all swollen and pale... We need to get that iced right away!
Uncle Dan: Nah, I'm good. You should've seen my bruises when my old man used to smack me around. I'm used to this kinda thing.
Vyrn: You're used to it? Man, what kind of a life have you been living? We should've gone with you!
Uncle Dan: Nuh-uh, that wouldn't work. The fact that they see me as harmless is what counts.
Vyrn: Whaddya mean?
Vyrn: I thought our job was to protect you. Hope you have an explanation, buster!
Vyrn: You keep going off and doing your own thing without telling us what's up! I know you're just trying to keep us from getting dragged into the mess, but...
Uncle Dan: Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a downer or anything... I went to ask members of the Miners' Association if they'd like to get in on what we're doing at the alloy foundry.
Lyria: Huh?
Lyria: Didn't the whole foundry idea come about so that we could better negotiate with them?
Uncle Dan: Yeah, that's true, but... Suppose we come up with some crazy new alloy.
Uncle Dan: That would be a new business opportunity for the association.
Uncle Dan: And if it were the alloy foundry, funded by the Smiths' Guild, which created that opportunity, they'd have a real deal on their hands.
Lyria: Ah... That's a good point! I didn't even think of it!
Uncle Dan: I think the baddies who ordered the hit on our foundry are thinking the same.
Uncle Dan: They've gotta be part of some faction that would lose out if the whole association got friendly with the guild.
Vyrn: Hm... I guess they're not exactly a united front, huh.
Uncle Dan: You got that right. Being buddy-buddy with everyone takes a back seat whenever profits are involved.
Uncle Dan: The Miners' Association has got people of all types and circumstances.
Uncle Dan: And not every single one of them wants to rub shoulders with the Smiths' Guild.
Uncle Dan: Of course, there's also more than a few who'd jump at the chance to reconcile.
Uncle Dan: Thing is, I don't have much of a social network here. I have no clue who'd be willing to partner up with us.
Vyrn: So that's why you went around asking in person?
Uncle Dan: Hehe... Bingo. 'Cept all I did here was send the local mining chief into a rage.
Uncle Dan: Told me not to stir up any more trouble in the Miners' Association.
Uncle Dan: We'll keep doing this until we find what we're after.
Dan gives (Captain) a nod before boarding the Grandcyper.
Lyria: Ah! Dan, we get that, but your wounds still need tending to!
The crew goes on a tour of islands affiliated with the Miners' Association while keeping watch over Dan.
Mining Chief: Yeah, I hear ya. But I've got a situation of my own.
Mining Chief: I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. I owe the head of the radicals a few favors; I can't just go negotiating with you folks.
Coal Mine Manager: Please, just go... If a smaller place like ours opposes the radicals, who knows what they'll do to us...
Uncle Dan: Sigh... We're not making much headway here...
Uncle Dan: I'm missing home already...
Uncle Dan: But...
Vyrn: Dan! We're almost at the next island!
Uncle Dan: Thanks for letting me know! I'll get my things ready!
Uncle Dan: (I've gotta pull through!)

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 6: A Brighter Tomorrow - Episode 2

After the latest snag on his island tour, Uncle Dan steps away from (Captain) and company in search of a place where he can smoke, only to be jumped by one of the radicals and beaten unconscious. The next moment, Silva steps in to defeat his assailants before they even notice her.

Dan goes island-hopping, discussing matters with the chiefs of various coal mines affiliated with the Miners' Association.
But he encounters the same problem in each one. They are too afraid of the radicals—who now hold power—to go against them.
Vyrn: Tch! Least they could do is hear us out before shooing us away!
Uncle Dan: Hm, this coal mine's pretty big. They seem pretty influential in the association too.
Uncle Dan: Maybe that's why they turned us away. Anyhoo, let's head on to the next island.
Lyria: Let's hope we fare better there!
Uncle Dan: Man, I could really go for a smoke right now...
Uncle Dan: Wouldn't wanna ash all over the ship; lemme go find an ashtray. You guys go on ahead in the meantime.
Vyrn: Gotcha! We'll be making preparations for takeoff!
Uncle Dan: Thanks, I'll leave you to it!
Dan looks for a suitable place to light a cigarette.
Uncle Dan: I guess I could hit up a tavern, but then I'd be tempted to drink...
Scowling Man: Oi, you there.
Uncle Dan: Hm? Me? What's up?
Uncle Dan: Urgh!
Uncle Dan: Wh-what the heck are you doing?
Scowling Man: What do you mean? You hafta know what a dangerous line you're walking, chump.
Uncle Dan: Huh?
Scowling Man: Stick your head out where it don't belong, and you're just asking for trouble, mate.
Scowling Man: Get him, boys!
Dan is quickly surrounded by a group of thugs.
Uncle Dan: Eep! Wh-what are you gonna do to me?
Scowling Man: How about...
Scowling Man: This for starters?
Uncle Dan: Ngh!
Uncle Dan: Gyaah!
Scowling Man: Hope you don't take it personal. I'm just doing my job.
Uncle Dan: Ngh!
Uncle Dan: (Cripes... I'm seeing stars...)
Uncle Dan: (Damn it... I should've stayed with (Captain) and the crew...)
Uncle Dan: (Guess I couldn't do much of anything after all...)
Uncle Dan: ...
Scowling Man: Blimey! What is it now?
Scowling Man: Gwah!
Uncle Dan: What the...
Nearly unconscious, Dan manages to pry open his eyelids.
Uncle Dan: Hm?
He wobbles to his feet, only to find his assailants lying collapsed on the ground.
Uncle Dan: How... What just happened?
Silva: Heh.
Silva: I'm surprised to find you and (Captain) on this island.
Silva, conducting her own investigation on the Miners' Association, just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Silva: Looks like (Captain) and the crew noticed the commotion and came back this way.
Silva: I have my own job to do... I suppose I'll just leave this to (Captain) and go meet up with her.
Silva: Take care of Dan, (Captain)...

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 6: A Brighter Tomorrow - Episode 3

(Captain) and the others return to the alloy foundry in order to tend to Uncle Dan's wounds. The gunsmith parents are moved to tears upon learning that Dan—despite all his injuries—attempted to win allies in the Miners' Association, and Mama Gunsmith finally accepts Uncle Dan as a brother again.

Radicals' Chief: The hell is wrong with you?
Radicals' Chief: You come back to me with screwup after screwup...
Radicals' Chief: Heck, you're not even worth your damn paycheck!
Cockeyed Man: Geez, how many times ya gonna make me apologize? Ever consider that the lackeys ya send my way might not be up to snuff?
Radicals' Chief: Oh, don't gimme that crap! Making good use of them is your job!
Radicals' Chief: Look, we're at a crucial stage now!
Radicals' Chief: If we can take control of the association, Epice's profits will be ours...
Radicals' Chief: And I'm not gonna let some damn guild get in the way!
Radicals' Chief: You mess up again, and I'll send you straight back to the prison I freed you from!
Cockeyed Man: Heh, I know I still owe ya for gettin' me outta the clink.
Cockeyed Man: And I also owe that crew payback for the thrashin' earlier!
Dan is still bruised up from a scuffle with men hired by the chief of the Miners' Association's radical faction.
(Captain) and company urge him to return to the foundry for now to see to his injuries.
Uncle Dan: But I haven't even done anything yet...
Lyria: There's a limit to what we can do for you on the Grandcypher!
Vyrn: Yeah, they got you pretty bad! Especially that injury on your head!
Uncle Dan: Whoa!
Uncle Dan: Hey, put me down, (Captain)! Yeah, yeah, I hear ya! I'll go!
Dan ends up being dragged back to the foundry.
Cucouroux: Mm-hm, who is it?
Ah!
Camieux: (Captain)! Lyria, Vyrn... and Uncle Dan!
Cucouroux: Welcome back, everyone!
Lyria: Good to see you again, Cucouroux, Camieux!
Uncle Dan: ...
Vyrn: What are you still standing out there for, Dan? Come on in already!
Uncle Dan: B-but...
Papa Gunsmith: Dan! What's with those injuries?
Mama Gunsmith: ...
Uncle Dan: Oh, it's just a scratch... Anyway...
Uncle Dan: Erm...
(Captain) prods Dan to keep him talking.
Uncle Dan: So I spoke to some guys from the Miners' Association... Didn't exactly go too well though...
Cucouroux: The Miners' Association! Is that why you're all bruised up?
Camieux: Now they've really done it!
Uncle Dan: Hey, calm down. Hm, how should I put this... I figured maybe we could make a few friends outside...
Uncle Dan: If we had a few friendly faces in the Miners' Association, maybe they'd stop the attacks...
Uncle Dan: If that didn't pan out, then we could try the airship factory in Golonzo. I'm sure they'd be interested in a new type of alloy.
Mama Gunsmith: And?
Uncle Dan: I mean, the more allies we have, the safer we are, right?
Uncle Dan: Let's not forget Sphiria either. They collect rare documents and tomes from all over, right? Maybe we could interest them in books about alloy production.
Uncle Dan: And then there's...
Papa Gunsmith: Dan...
Uncle Dan: Sorry if I simply ended up getting in the way instead. I tend to do that even when I don't mean to...
Papa Gunsmith: I'm just glad you're back, Dan.
Papa Gunsmith: It's been too many years since I last saw you like this...
Uncle Dan: You mean...
Papa Gunsmith: The look in your eyes says it all. This is the real you, Dan. You see it too, don't you, dear?
Mama Gunsmith: ...
Uncle Dan: Er...
Mama Gunsmith: Sigh...
Mama Gunsmith: Let's bring the chitchat inside, everyone. Come on in.
Mama Gunsmith: You must be starving at this hour. I'll go fix something up. Be sure to wash your hands!
Lyria: Okay!
Mama Gunsmith urges them to enter the foundry.
Uncle Dan: Erm...
Mama Gunsmith: Get in here already before I lock the door!
Mama Gunsmith: Dan!
Uncle Dan: ...!
Coming!

Make Up and Go! - Chapter 6: A Brighter Tomorrow - Episode 4

On the night that Uncle Dan returns to the alloy foundry, Lyria is awakened by the vibration of a heavy-duty mining excavator driven by one of the radicals. (Captain) and the others take up arms to stop the excavator before it can make impact with the building.

After a lively dinner, (Captain) and company retreat to their rooms to rest up.
Dan has also returned from a quick checkup at the local hospital. All get ready to catch up on sleep.
Cucouroux: Zzz...
Camieux: Mng... Sis...
Cucouroux: Mm-hm... Yeah, Coux?
Lyria: Snore...
Lyria: Hm?
Lyria: Yawn... Is it shaking?
Half-asleep but concerned enough about what feels like a minor tremor, Lyria gets up and approaches the window.
Lyria: Is it an earthquake?
She rubs her eyelids, gently pushes aside the curtains, and opens her eyes wide in the next moment.
Lyria: Eek! What is that?
Vyrn: Huh?
Lyria, whatcha doin' up?
Lyria: Yikes! There's some really big machine coming toward the foundry!
Cucouroux: Hm? Big machine?
Stirred by Lyria's words, the rest of the crew takes a peek at the window.
Cockeyed Man: Hahah!
Camieux: Eeeep! Wh-wh-what even is that?
Camieux: It's sending the roadside trees flying and overturning the cobblestone!
Cucouroux: Oh no! That's a heavy-duty mining excavator! It can tear up the thickest bedrock like nothing!
Lyria: Huh? Why would they bring that here?
Vyrn: A heavy-duty mining what?
Vyrn: Actually, scratch that. Whatever it is, we've gotta take care of it fast! The thing's headed straight for us!
Camieux: Agh! After all we did to repair the burns, now we'll have a massive hole in the wall to worry about!
Cucouroux: This whole building's gonna go kerplunk if we don't act fast! We have to wake up everyone!
The crew wakes the others and rushes out the door with them.
Uncle Dan: That's one heck of machine they've brought out!
Cockeyed Man: Tch, ya just had to go and notice me, didn't ya? Ruined my chance to bury ya in the rubble!
Cockeyed Man: Hahah! Or would ya prefer to meet the business end of my drill!
Vyrn: Him again!
Cucouroux: Don't think you're getting away this time! You're going down for good!
Camieux: Yeah, yeah! Time to take out the trash!
(Captain) nods at the sisters, weapon at the ready to stop the heavy-duty mining excavator by force.
Cockeyed Man: Humph... Give it yer best shot! Let's see which one of us has got more stomach for this!
Cockeyed Man: It's showtime, hahah!

Make Up and Go! - Ending

(Captain) and associates succeed at toppling the heavy-duty mining excavator and protecting the alloy foundry. Tweyen of the Eternals pays a visit to the head of the radical miners, which helps restore peace between the Miners' Association and the Smiths' Guild. Even after (Captain) and the others complete their mission, Dan continues to work with dedication at the foundry.

Cucouroux: You're...
Cucouroux: Finished!
While the rest of the crew is attacking, Cucouroux and Camieux turn the vehicle topsy-turvy with explosives.
Cockeyed Man: Crap!
Vyrn: Ah! He's getting away!
Silhouettes from the roadside close in on the cockeyed man.
Lyria: Huh? Who are they?
Cockeyed Man: You two!
Feckless Man: How the heck did you get outta prison so fast? Wait, I don't wanna know!
Weak-Willed Man: Give it up already!
Vyrn: Oh! It's those guys who gave us back the money from the safe!
Uncle Dan: What are you—
Feckless Man: Well, we just couldn't live with the guilt. Figured we had to make amends somehow.
Weak-Willed Man: That big shot of the Miners' Association has been taking advantage of us for way too long... I guess you can consider this our payback!
Cockeyed Man: Lemme go, damn it!
Feckless Man: Doggone it, shut your piehole for once! Geez!
Uncle Dan: Ha, haha...
Weak-Willed Man: I'm so sorry about that fire again... We should've stood up to him...
Uncle Dan: Nah, I know what it's like being forced to fall in line...
Uncle Dan: You sure you're gonna be okay doing this though? Weren't you hired by the Miners' Association?
Feckless Man: We figured we weren't really cut out for that anyway. We'll just have to find work elsewhere.
Uncle Dan: Yeah? How about helping out at the foundry?
Uncle Dan: What do you think about that?
Papa Gunsmith: They're pretty fit for one thing. Maybe we can ask them to be our bodyguards.
Papa Gunsmith: You there, I'm guessing you grew up in a mining town. You look like a guy who can tell his silver from steel...
Weak-Willed Man: Th-that's right! I suppose I do know a thing or two...
Mama Gunsmith: Ugh, you forgive too easily, Dan.
Uncle Dan: You don't think it'd work out?
Mama Gunsmith: I guess you could talk to the guild about it. And see if those two would be willing.
Mama Gunsmith: Just keep in mind that if you do hire them, they'll be your responsibility.
Uncle Dan: Yeah, that's a good point—
Uncle Dan: Wait, I'll be responsible?
Mama Gunsmith: Did anyone say anything about you getting fired? No! You're still in charge! Geez, get a grip, Dan...
Cucouroux: Anyhow, we wouldn't want this kook who came attacking us to be let out of prison again.
Cucouroux: Let's hand them over to the guild instead of the local authorities this time!
Vyrn: Good idea!
Cucouroux: We need to get word to Siero straight away. C'mon, Cammy!
Camieux: ...
Cucouroux: Cammy?
Camieux: ...!
Lyria: Um, is there something wrong with the heavy-duty mining... ex-car... vay-tor?
Camieux: It's too cool!
Vyrn: Wha? Camieux, you're into this kinda stuff?
Camieux: Mm-hm! I wanna go for a ride!
Cucouroux: Okay, Camieux, but we can do that later. We need to go!
Meanwhile, the chief of the Miners' Association's radical faction is engaging in his own discussions.
Radicals' Chief: Shoot... You folks again!
Tweyen: A price spike for metals wouldn't affect just smithies; you'd be redefining the status quo.
Tweyen: Ultimately jeopardizing the safety of people all over. We Eternals suppress conflict before it can take hold. And we won't let this pass.
Feared as the mightiest force in all the skies, the Eternals possess unparalleled strength.
They see themselves as a deterrent, using their powers to stop those who would start wars.
The bow-wielding Tweyen has come with a preemptive warning for the Miners' Association.
Tweyen: I promise you this: any who would dare to start a war while under our watch will meet a swift and painful end by the full extent of our powers.
Radicals' Chief: Eep!
Tweyen: I've prepared someone to take your place in the Miners' Association. Either revert the prices back to what they were, or let your successor replace you. The choice is yours.
Tweyen: I won't ask again. Will you revert the prices?
Shaken by Tweyen's piercing gaze, the chief of the radicals can do nothing but nod.
Tweyen: I thank you for your cooperation. I trust you'll continue to keep the peace of the skies in mind.
Radicals' Chief: Aaiieess!
Content with his answer, Tweyen quietly leaves the room.
Tweyen: Phew.
Silva: Thank you, Tweyen. I couldn't have done this without you.
Tweyen: No worries. This is all in a day's work for an Eternal.
Tweyen: Anre was looking into the Miners' Association before you came to me.
Tweyen: We were bound to intervene sooner or later either way.
Silva: I see...
Silva: In any case, we're glad for the help. Thank you for your sound judgment in this matter.
Tweyen: Hehe, you're welcome.
Tweyen: Silva, can I ask you a favor?
Silva: Of course. Anything for you.
Tweyen: Can you keep what I did here a secret from Cucouroux and Camieux?
Tweyen: I wouldn't want them to think I go around threatening people with my bow like that. They'd be terrified of me!
Silva: Pff... Haha! You're worried about that?
Tweyen: Hey, I'm being serious here! Please, Silva.
Silva: Okay, it's a promise. I won't tell them about the scary voice you used back there either.
Silva: Anyway, I should be getting back to the foundry. Care to join me? We can have tea with everyone.
Tweyen: That sounds fun! Count me in. You know, I heard about this really nice cafe in Valtz the other day. Maybe we...
Intervention by the Eternals proves to be an embarrassment for the entirety of the Miners' Association.
When the Smiths' Guild uses the captive cockeyed man to smooth along negotiations, the association willingly accepts all terms.
Dan taking initiative to speak with many of the mining chiefs earlier certainly helped matters.
With a sincere, official apology in place, the Miners' Association and Smiths' Guild vow to work closer together than ever before.
And then...
Vyrn: I guess that's the end of our job, huh... Boy, I'm gonna miss this place!
Lyria: Yeah...
I'm missing it already.
The end date for the crew's protection assignment has come to pass.
They get ready to board the Grandcypher to embark on their next adventure.
Uncle Dan: Hey, come again, y'hear? I could always use some company when I'm downing a few.
Cucouroux: Why not just go with some of those fellow smiths the guild sent over?
Uncle Dan: Oh... Yeah, I suppose I could with so many people here now.
Vyrn: Good luck with your job as the chief of this place, Dan! We'll be rooting for ya!
Uncle Dan: Heh... I'm not feeling too confident. The new guys all seem super talented though, so I'm sure they'll be a big help.
Uncle Dan: Not to mention all the great ideas that Cucouroux and Camieux gave me. Thanks for the head start, you two.
Camieux: No problem, Uncle Dan! Keep that research going with your new smithing friends!
Uncle Dan: Yeah, I'll try to be a good boss and divvy up the work accordingly.
Cucouroux: Good! They're all counting on you, Uncle Dan! And so are we.
Cucouroux: I'm so happy you've proven yourself to be reliable...
Vyrn: Well, it's about time for us to take off!
Lyria: Yeah... Please take care, Dan!
Uncle Dan: All right, you too! Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay happy, guys! Oh, and—
Uncle Dan: Eh, never mind... Just watch out for yourselves out there, okay?
Camieux: Will do!
Dan waves back to the departing crew standing on deck as their vessel takes off.
Even as the Grandcypher sails out of view and into the puffy white clouds beyond, Dan's eyes remain focused on the blue skies above.
Uncle Dan: Great weather today...
Uncle Dan: I could really go for a walk...
Uncle Dan: ...
Uncle Dan: But, nuh-uh, work's gotta come first. I can relax once I've done my job.
Dan mutters to himself and treads the path back to the alloy foundry.
Some things change. Some things don't.
Come what may, the blue sky accepts all and continues to shine bright.
The End
