Monstrous creatures with white bodies and blank faces, created by the primal beast Elpis and born from the mud of Hitakami Island. Nepsis serve as guards for the Evangelions hidden across the island, ensuring that no skydweller lays a hand on them. They also keep a close watch on NERV, serving as conductors that amplify Elpis's power when needed. Generally, nepsis do not attack when no hostile behavior is detected. They have been an endemic species of Hitakami since ages ago, long before NERV existed on the island, and residents know them as pale and mysterious creatures that roam the island.
