The primal beast of ideals, sealed away on Hitakami Island. Created to artificially manifest a particular legend, Elpis is capable of converting people's prayers and wishes into energy for the purpose of bringing about a miracle. In order to stabilize its abilities, unnecessary traits such as a physical body and ego have been cast off. As Elpis does not possess a core—which oftentimes becomes a weak point—it will not disappear as long as there is a vessel through which the primal beast can channel its power. Recognizing this as a potential danger, Hippolytus had installed a virus within Elpis as a way to control it; however, this was detected and nullified by the primal beast. After that, with the help of Hippolytus, Achillea had embedded himself into Elpis as a deterrence measure, completing the virus and passing the control over to Lyria, who was then able to subjugate Elpis's power. When Elpis first came across Rei Ayanami's ideal, it had tried to exercise its power across dimensions. However, because it did not possess enough power to reconstruct the reality of another world, Elpis used its abilities to reconstruct and interfere with the Sky Realm instead, creating divergent existences born from Astral power to manifest the same ideal in the skies.
