The Dream Begins
Some time after Catura accepts (Captain)'s proposal, the couple goes to the Ox Shrine to tell her parents. They unhesitatingly give the couple their blessing, and the other residents of the island celebrate the happy event as well. The couple visits Zinkenstill, and starts thinking about what kind of ceremony they want to have.
In one of many futures, a certain young lady has fulfilled her dream.
With her final operation ending in success, she and her beloved embark on the path to their happily ever after...
On a certain auspicious day, (Captain) is at the Ox Shrine, bowing before Catura's parents.
Choose: Please allow me to marry your daughter!
Catura's Mom: My my... Just like how they say it in the illustrated stories!
Catura's Dad: Did you two plan this together? Catura told you that her mother would be over the moon if you said that, didn't she?
Catura: Oh dear... How did you know?
Catura's Dad: I know everything about you! I've been raising you since you were the size of a milk bottle, after all.
Catura's Dad: Needless to say, I knew that this day was coming, too.
Catura: Papa...
Catura's Mom: We hope that you'll take good care of her, (Captain).
Catura's Dad: I'm sure that we're leaving her in good hands.
When Catura's parents bow their heads, (Captain) rushes to bow even lower.
Choose: Phew...
Choose: Thank goodness...
That was nerve-wracking... Now that it's over, I feel incredibly tired, as if I'd spent all my energy keeping it together until now.
Catura: Moohoohoo... Good job, (Captain)...
Catura's Dad: Haha, that sure takes me back! I got super anxious too back when I was in your shoes!
Catura's Mom: You sure did... I had to hold your arm to keep you on your feet, just like what Catura's doing now...
Catura: Mama, Papa... We'll be sending you an invitation to our wedding ceremony, so look forward to it...
Catura's Dad: Ah, you're doing a ceremony! In that case, you can use Mama's—
Catura's Mom: Hold it right there, dear! What did we talk about?
Catura's Dad: Ah, right, I forgot about that.
Catura: ...?
Catura's Mom: Hehe, don't worry about it.
Catura's Mom: I hope that it turns out exactly how you two want it!
Catura's Dad: Oh, but don't let your imagination get away from you and ask for something (Captain) can't manage, Catura. You know, like having it on top of a cloud or in a castle.
Catura: Oh come on! I know that!
We leave the Ox Shrine and make our way toward the nearby village.
Moomoo & Milky: Moo!
...
...
Catura: You're right... I'm so glad that Papa and Mama were happy...
Vyrn: Yeah, we've been sayin' this over and over, but we're really happy too!
Vyrn: It feels like just yesterday that I was changing (Captain)'s diapers, and here we are getting ready for a wedding!
Lyria: This sure makes me remember a lot of things... Like when we met, and when Catura and I started having milk parties...
Lyria: But anyway! Congratulations, you two!
Choose: Thank you!
Choose: It's all thanks to everyone's support.
Catura: If one day... we ever make it to Estalucia...
Catura: I hope that I'll be able to meet your papa too...
I nod my head, fully confident that day will come.
We eventually arrive at the village to find a crowd of people gathered.
Villagers: Congratulations, Catura!
Catura: Everyone... How do you already know?
Village Chief: Haha, rumors get around faster in these parts than Milky on a paved road!
Villager 1: I'm so glad that this day has finally come!
Catura: Moohoohoo... Thank you all so much...
Villager 2: Take good care of Catura now, (Captain).
Villager 2: She's always had a habit of throwing her blanket away in her sleep, so make sure she doesn't catch cold on chilly nights.
Catura: You don't have to worry... (Captain) already knows about that and always makes sure I stay covered...
Villager 2: I see... Wait, you do, (Captain)?
Villager 3: Hehe, well that only makes sense, doesn't it? They're together, after all.
Feeling my face become flush, I lower my head.
Villager 3: This reminds me of when Catura's mother got married...
Catura: Mama's wedding?
Village Chief: Oh yes... The Ox Shrine was packed, and she looked so lovely in that dress...
Catura: I see... I wish I could have been there...
Catura: Oh yeah, we'll be inviting everyone to our wedding ceremony too.
Seeing the blissful look on Catura's face as she stands immersed in congratulations and rejoicing, I think about how glad I am that we came here.
Leaving Catura's birthplace behind, the Grandcypher turns its bow towards Zinkenstill, my home island.
When the villagers hear about our upcoming wedding, the quiet little place quickly becomes very busy as the residents gather to congratulate us.
Upon returning to the ship, Catura and I start going through a magazine about getting married.
Specifically, we're looking at a special feature on planning weddings.
Catura: Let's see... The popular wedding venues these days are resorts in Auguste, large churches...
Catura: Oh? It looks like you can have weddings at the Rat Shine wearing those rat ears...
However, no matter how many pages we turn, I don't see anything that stands out to me.
Catura: Ah... Are none of these really doing it for you?
Choose: Yeah...
Choose: How did you know?
Catura: Moohoohoo... I was feeling the same way...
Catura: Now that I think about it, I've only ever seen weddings in illustrated stories after all...
Catura smiles and points to something near the bottom of the page.
Catura: Do you want to try going to this?
Under her finger can be seen an advertisement for a bridal fair written in elegant letters.
The Dream Begins: Scene 2
(Captain) and Catura attend a bridal fair in order to learn more about what wedding's entail. Afterwards, they discuss what they want to do, and Catura comes up with the idea of having the wedding at the Ox Shrine's ranch.
A bridal fair is an event for couples to see a potential venue for their wedding in person and learn about what getting married there would entail.
(Captain) and Catura are attending one such fair now.
Staff: I would like to congratulate you on your upcoming marriage. I will be showing you around today.
It seems that each couple gets a guide assigned to them. I think I'm feeling nervous again...
Catura: Congratulations... Congratulations...
Meanwhile, Catura is quietly congratulating each couple we pass by.
After we fill out a form to let them know what we're interested in, our guide starts to show us around the venue.
Staff: This is our chapel. As you can see, the sunlight shining through the stained glass creates quite a romantic atmosphere!
Catura: Wow! It's so majestic... And the flowers are so beautiful too...
Catura: This is where (Captain) and I could...
This place looks like it came straight out of an illustrated story. Just being in here is making me a bit nervous.
Catura: It's like it came straight out of an illustrated story... Doesn't just being in here make you feel a bit nervous?
Fighting to not burst out laughing, I smile at Catura as I nod.
Staff: And here you can look at our collection of wedding dresses.
Catura: Look at all of these... There are so many choices!
Though all of the dresses are pure white, examining them closely reveals each one to be unique, differing in their design and ornamentation.
Catura: Which one do you think would look best on me, (Captain)?
Choose: All of them!
Choose: You look good in anything.
Catura: Oh, mooey... Why do you always say embarrassing things like that, (Captain)...
Staff: On the day of the wedding, we'll have one of our artists paint a portrait of you to commemorate the occasion.
Staff: We can arrange for it to be painted in the style of an illustrated story, so that might be perfect for Miss Catura.
Catura: Wow... That would make for a wonderful memory...
Staff: This is where we hold our receptions.
Catura: The reception... That's the party we have after the wedding to celebrate, right?
Filled to the brim with all kinds of lighting and flowers, the spacious room gives off quite the luxurious air.
Staff: Here, we'll be serving you the full course meal that we would be providing at the actual reception.
Choose: What!
Choose: You'll really do that for us?
Staff: There will be no charge, of course. Please, enjoy yourselves!
Upon returning to the Grandcypher, Catura and I reflect on what we learned.
Catura: Who could have guessed that they would serve us a full course meal... And we got to talk to the chef too, didn't we?
Our guide brought up the topic of deciding on a date to reserve the venue, but we decided not to sign anything yet.
Catura: There were so many things that you see in illustrated stories, weren't there...
The place was dazzlingly romantic, no question about it, but...
Catura: But... I couldn't be sure it was right...
As I thought, Catura feels hesitant about it.
We now understand the general idea of how the ceremony and reception goes, but...
Catura: In the first place... What exactly is the point of having a wedding?
Catura: Even without a ceremony... We can still be, you know... together forever...
Choose: To create a lasting memory?
Catura: A memory...
Catura's Dad: I'm sure that we're leaving her in good hands.
Catura's Mom: I hope that it turns out exactly how you two want it!
Villagers: Congratulations, Catura!
Catura: I get it now... Our wedding is for...
Catura: I want to create an unforgettable memory... Alongside all of the people who have helped us...
Catura: With you two, the villagers, all of our crewmates, and the people from (Captain)'s home island too...
Catura's desire to plan our wedding with all our friends in mind resonates with me as well.
My crewmates have always had my back on this journey, so I want them to share in some part of this joy that I've found.
Catura's Mom: My my... It seems like you've figured out how you want to make this wedding your own!
Catura's Dad: Now I'm looking forward to it even more! But anyway, what is it you wanted to ask us?
Catura: Well, you see... I thought that if we were going to do the wedding this way, we should do it in a place that's really right for us...
Catura: So... Can we have it here at the Ox Shrine?
Catura's parents turn to look at each other, their eyes widened in surprise.
Catura's Dad: Not work? We actually held our own wedding right here on the ranch too!
Catura: What? You did?
Catura's Mom: Hehe... We exchanged vows with all of the cows watching!
Catura's Dad: We invited everyone I knew back home and all my crewmates and made a huge event of it!
Catura: You did? I never knew that...
Catura's Dad: Well, we didn't get any paintings or anything made for it after all. Only thing left from back then is the dress—
Catura's Dad: Whoops!
Catura: A dress! Do you mean Mama's wedding dress?
Catura's Dad: I'm sorry, honey. It just slipped out.
Catura's Mom: Hehe, don't worry about it. It's not like we were actually trying to keep it a secret forever.
Catura's mother smiles and closes her eyes in recollection.
Catura's Mom: The truth is, I've kept my dress all of these years.
Catura's Mom: It's an unforgettable part of your Mama and Papa's history...
Catura: An unforgettable... wedding dress...
Choose: Why were you keeping it a secret?
Catura's Mom: Well... As soon as she heard about it, Catura would decide that she wants to wear it no matter what, wouldn't she?
Catura: I wouldn't... Well, I might do that...
Catura's Mom: I wanted her to be able to choose her own path to happiness.
Catura: ...
Catura: Mama... I think I really do want to wear that dress.
Catura's Mom: ...!
Catura: Don't worry... That really is my own choice...
Catura: You're the person I respect most, and my dream has always been to be like you when I get married...
Catura: So as part of having our wedding our way... I want to do it wearing your wedding dress...
Catura's Mom: Catura...
Catura's Dad: You've always quietly gotten up in the middle of the night about once a week to keep it in good condition, haven't you?
Catura's Mom: Dear! You knew about that?
Catura's Dad: We'll get to have our precious memory become a memory for Catura too. What is there to be unsure of?
Catura's Mom: I suppose... If that's what Catura's decided...
Catura's Mom: Alright then! I'm sure the dress will be happy to be worn again!
Catura: Thank you, Mama!
Catura's mom takes her daughter to the storage room to see the dress.
That night, Catura and (Captain) decide to sleep at her house.
(Captain) gets out of bed to use the toilet, but hears voices coming from the living room downstairs.
Catura's Mom: Ah, did we wake you up, (Captain)?
Catura's Dad: When we pulled out the dress we found a bunch of things we hadn't seen in a while, so we've just been reminiscing.
On top of the table is a hodgepodge assortment of objects, including journals, illustrated stories, old toys, and portraits.
Catura's Mom: Look at this book... Isn't the spine in terrible shape? This was Catura's favorite illustrated story.
Catura's Mom: And this glass shoe here caused quite the commotion, hehe...
"I think I've heard about this... Didn't Catura get her foot stuck in it and the whole village had to work together to get it out or something?"
Catura's Dad: Yeah, that's right! She really has always been obsessed with the world of illustrated stories...
I feel a spark of pride in my heart at the thought that Catura has always been proactive in making her dreams reality.
Catura's Mom: What about you, (Captain)? What were you like as a child?
Choose: Hm?
Choose: You're interested in that?
Catura's Dad: Yeah, we'd love to hear about it! Would you be willing to share some stories with us?
Choose: Well then, let's see...
I tell them about how I grew up in Zinkenstill, how I loved playing tag... Just mundane bits of my childhood.
Catura's parents smile as they listen to my old stories, and I notice that something about this situation strikes me as significant.
Catura's Mom: Hehe... I wonder how your relationship would have developed if you and Catura were childhood friends?
Catura's Dad: Haha! Here we go with Mama's "childhood friend" daydreaming!
Catura's Dad: Don't pay it any mind, (Captain), she just really likes that type of story!
Catura's Mom: My, how rude! You like illustrated stories about childhood friends too, don't you (Captain)?
As I listen to the homely conversation, it suddenly hits me.
It's not just Catura... These two are going to become my family as well.
After a lull in the conversation, Catura's mother looks me straight in the eyes.
Catura's Mom: Please... Live a long, happy life with her.
Choose: You've got it!
Choose: Understood.
Without hesitation, I speak those words to my newfound parents.
The Dream Begins: Scene 3
On the day of their wedding, (Captain) and Catura pledge their eternal love to each other with their friends and family as witness. After much rejoicing on Grandcypher during the reception, the newlyweds stand on the now quiet deck and talk of the beginning of their new journey.
As it turns out, having a wedding is a lot of work.
You need to prepare the venue, send invitations, get catering, develop and test a timetable... Fortunately, we were able to accomplish all of that with the help of friends and family.
And now, the big day has arrived.
Many guests have gathered at the Ox Temple's ranch to celebrate Catura and (Captain)'s marriage.
Lyria: It's finally time!
Vyrn: And look at that clear blue sky! What a great day for a wedding!
The well-wishers have taken their seats and are waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Villager 1: Oh? I see where the altar is, but where's the priest?
Village Chief: Catura and (Captain) have decided to hold what's called a "community ceremony."
Village Chief: Instead of a priest, all of us will serve as witnesses to their vows.
Villager 2: We will? Well isn't that a nice idea!
Cow: Moo!
Villager 3: The cow mooed... It must be about time to start.
The cow's majestic voice signals the happy couple to appear.
Catura: Moohoohoo...
Choose: (One step at a time...)
Choose: (Do not trip...)
The two of them walk down the aisle over a homemade hay carpet.
Lyria: Congratulations!
Villager 3: Why, if that isn't her mother's dress... It looks very good on you, Catura!
Each smile I see seems to take a weight off of my shoulders, and I make sure to smile back to everyone.
Moomoo: Moo!
Moomoo is walking ahead of them, throwing flower petals in their path as they walk to the altar.
Catura: Everyone... We're so happy that you've all gathered to see us wedded today...
Catura: (Captain) and I spent a lot of time thinking about what we wanted our wedding to be like...
Catura: We decided that we wanted to swear our eternal love for each other to you... All of you who care so much for us...
Catura: But... As for how we're going to swear it... We still want to say those classic lines...
I turn to face Catura and we gaze into each other's eyes.
Continue 1
Catura: (Captain)... Do you vow to cherish me from this day forward, in sickness and in health?
"Do you vow to love me from this day forward, in sickness and in health?"
Catura: Yes... I absolutely do...
Catura: (Captain)... Do you vow to cherish me from this day forward, in sickness and in health?
Do you vow to love me from this day forward, in sickness and in health?
Catura: Yes... I absolutely do...
Continue 2
Cow: Moo!
As I pull her into my arms and we embrace, the makeshift pews erupt into thunderous applause.
Our reception is being hosted on the Grandcypher, which we'd left anchored nearby.
We've set up tables on the deck, and the crew cooked all kinds of dishes to fill them with.
Milky: ...!
After taking a moment to change, we show up at the party riding Milky.
Catura: Did everyone enjoy the milk? It came straight from the Ox Shrine's cows...
Catura: We're now ready to start the reception... I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces!
We announce the start of the party from the newlyweds' table, which has been extravagantly decorated with hay.
Choose: Everyone sure looks happy.
Catura: Yeah... This is just what I wanted to see...
Vyrn: Alright ya two, one ginormous cake coming up!
Choose: Then let's get cutting!
I unsheathe my trusty old sword.
Needless to say, I thoroughly cleaned and disinfected it before the ceremony.
Lyria: What! You're going to use your sword?
Vyrn: Sounds good to me! It's been with ya through thick and thin, after all!
Catura grasps the hilt with me as we turn to face the giant cake.
Catura: Moohoohoo... Our first task as a married couple...
Catura: One... Two... Three!
At the end of the hectic day, the Grandcypher has been returned to its usual state.
Catura and (Captain) gaze at the deserted deck, thinking back on the hustle and bustle that's now come to an end.
Catura: Moohoohoo... It's all over now, huh...
Choose: It feels like it all happened so fast.
Choose: That sure was fun, wasn't it?
Catura: I got to see everyone's smiling faces...
"Your par—I mean our parents were bawling when you read that handwritten letter."
Catura: Hehe, you know... That letter was actually blank...
Catura: It wasn't blank at first, but I spilled milk on it and all the writing got smudged...
Catura: So I had to ad-lib it...
Classic Catura... I feel like I'm going to remember that every time I think of this day.
Catura: Mama and Papa told me that it was a great ceremony... and they're proud of how we made it our own...
Catura: I'm really... so happy it all went well...
As our fingers interweave, Catura and I look up to the starry sky.
Catura: Do you remember... the first time we went to look at the stars together?
Catura: My heart was beating so fast, and it almost felt like I was dreaming...
Catura: Just looking you in the eyes made my heart moo...
At some point, Catura and I had turned our gazes from the sky to each other.
Catura: But now... it makes me feel relaxed, like sleeping on my favorite hay bed...
Catura: Though so much has changed now... I don't really know how to put this, but...
Catura: This isn't the end... It's just the beginning, isn't it?
Choose: Let's get started, together.
Catura: Yeah... We have our whole lives ahead of us...
Overflowing with emotion, Catura's lips break into a beautiful smile.
As we stand under the night sky, the stars glisten above our heads, just as they did on that day so long ago.
Catura: My name is Catura... I'm (Captain)'s bride, the only one you'll find throughout all of the skies...
Catura: As I continue living my life, growing up and growing old, I'm sure that I'll become capable of doing things I couldn't before and lose the ability to do things I once could...
Catura: But... I now have someone to live through it all with me...
Catura: Moohoohoo... And I'm happier than any illustrated story's heroine has ever been!
