The Unexpected Wedding
Korwa and the crew visit her design studio while on a delivery request. There, the daughter of her friend shows up unannounced and asks Korwa to make a wedding dress. The young girl explains that her mother opposes spending money on a belated ceremony that the father wants, and that showing her mother a dress might convince her. Korwa suggests learning the mother's true feelings first.
Girl: Please, Korwa!
Girl: I want you to make me a wedding dress!
Korwa: Wha...
Korwa: What'd you say!
Startled by the sudden request, Korwa's shocked voice echoes out from her workroom in the tailor shop.
The situation began when (Captain) accepted a delivery job from Siero.
Vyrn: Huh? I think I've heard of the island these goods are goin' to.
Lyria: Ah! Look, Vyrn, that's the island with the tailor shop Korwa works at!
Korwa: Wow, what are the chances!
No version of Korwa in crew
Korwa is a popular dress designer. She's always looking for inspiration for new designs...
So she rents out a room aboard the Grandcypher to work on ideas as she travels the skies with the crew.
Korwa: Y'know, I haven't been back to my studio at the shop in a long time.
Korwa: (Captain), think I could come on that assignment with you?
Korwa: After so long, I wanna clean it up and patch a few open ends.
Vyrn: Sure! That's no prob at all, right (Captain)?
The captain agrees and welcomes Korwa along for the ride.
Korwa: Thanks, Captain! You're a lifesaver!
Korwa: Oh hey, I bet I can guess what you're delivering. Is there any cloth or thread? Maybe some gemstones even?
Vyrn: Whoa, you're pretty sharp! There's a bunch of kinds of cloth in the cargo.
Korwa: Ah, I knew it! That island has whole streets full of tailors.
Korwa: Needles, cloth, thread... There's so many tool and supply stores, the competition is fierce.
Lyria: That's right, isn't it! Heehee, I'm excited just to see them all!
Korwa: If you find any fabric you like, bring it over to the shop, and I'll make some clothes for you.
Korwa: A whole outfit might be a tad much, but you can't go wrong with hair ornaments or cloth accessories.
Lyria: Wow, I really can't wait now! Once the job's finished, let's do some shopping together, (Captain)!
Shopping plans decided, the captain sets course to deliver the cargo.
The job goes without a hitch, so (Captain) and company head toward the tailor shop where Korwa works.
Lyria: Oooh! There's a store that only sells ribbon! And this shop sells buttons and nothing but!
Vyrn: Plus there's not just one or two specialty stores—the whole street's lined with 'em.
Vyrn: You weren't kiddin' when you said the competition's fierce. I totally get why they need to bring cloth in from other islands!
Korwa: Hehe, awesome, right? You can kill a whole day just browsing.
Lyria: You really could. I bet hours and hours wouldn't be enough to see it all.
Choose: Shall we head to Korwa's workshop first?
Lyria: Good idea! We still need to tidy up her studio.
Korwa: Oh, I can handle that alone. You guys should look around. Go, have fun!
Though appreciative of her kind offer, (Captain) insists the window-shopping will be much more fun with everyone together.
Korwa: Aw, thanks. Then let's clean up super quick and hit the shopping scene!
Korwa: Hm, I guess it's been longer than I thought. Look at all this dust...
Lyria: I'll open the window, Korwa!
Korwa: Oh, thanks!
The crew divides up cleaning duties and swiftly makes the work area spotless, just in time for lunch.
Vyrn: There! That about does it!
Korwa: Thanks so much for the help, guys!
Korwa: As thanks, how about I take you to my fav cafe near here? My treat.
Lyria: Yaaay! Thank you, Korwa!
Everyone gathers their things, and as they're about to leave the shop...
Lyria: Oh, a customer—
Girl: I'm so glad you're here!
Korwa: Hm? Is that...
Girl: Please, Korwa!
Girl: I want you to make me a wedding dress!
Korwa: Wha...
Korwa: What'd you say!
Vyrn: A wedding dress... Like, for you to wear?
Girl: No! Not for me. I need it for my mama...
Girl: Oh! I'm sorry, it's rude not to say hi. Um, hello...
Lyria: Nice to meet you! I'm Lyria, and this is Vyrn and (Captain)!
Korwa: I've been friends with this girl's mom since I first came to the island. Right?
Girl: Yep! You have to come play at our house again.
Girl: But first, the wedding dress!
Korwa: ...
Girl: Korwa?
Korwa: It's just, I've been asked to a few times, but I've never made a wedding dress before...
Girl: What! But why?
Korwa: Wedding dresses are kinda... personal for me. But anyway...
Korwa: You said it's for your mom. You gotta tell me what's going on. Did something happen?
Korwa: W-wait, don't say it... Did things not end well with her husband? But they were such a cute couple!
Girl: Huh? No! They still love each other a lot!
Korwa: Ah, good... That's a load off my mind.
Girl: But Papa was talking, and he's really sad they didn't get to have a ceremony when they got married.
Girl: So he's been saving money little by little, all 'cause he's always wanted to give her a proper wedding.
Girl: And now he's finally saved up enough. That's when he told me everything!
Vyrn: Aw, what a touching story!
Korwa: I get it... After hearing that, I'd really love to accept your order, but...
Girl: But?
Korwa: But, like, why didn't your dad just come ask me himself? Is there something else you're not telling me?
Girl: Oops...
Girl: There's no outsmarting you, Korwa.
Korwa: Heh heh! I am pretty clever!
Korwa: So lay it on me!
Girl: Well... You see...
Girl: Mama made a real big fuss about it to Papa... She said, "don't you dare waste all that hard-earned money!"
Korwa: Mhm, mhm...
Girl: Papa got real sad after that... But I wanna see Mama look pretty in a nice dress too.
Girl: That's why I thought if you made the best dress ever, then Mama would have to agree...
Korwa: Ummm...
Korwa: Weddings are a really special thing, where two people promise in front of everyone to share their lives together...
Korwa: They get married and have a ceremony 'cause they share the same feelings. You see?
Girl: I guess...
Korwa: So if your mom is against it, having a dress made behind her back isn't going to make her feel too happy.
Girl: Aww...
Girl: I know, you're right, Korwa...
Girl: B-but I just can't stand when my papa looks sad. I feel so bad for him!
Korwa: Yeah, that makes me feel pretty bad too. So I propose...
Korwa: First we find out how your mom really feels. Sound good?
Girl: ...!
Vyrn: Good point! Your mom might be worried about somethin' besides money.
Korwa: I know, right? And if we solve that problem, dad, mom, and daughter might all get to share in a wonderful day together.
Girl: But my mama... You think she'll tell us the truth?
Korwa: You just leave that to me! I think I've got an idea.
Korwa: I'm gonna give this family of yours the perfect happily ever after!
As she says this, Korwa looks at the rest of the crew and winks.
Willing to do anything for the happiness of others, she knows just what to use in this situation.
