My Holiday

So I woke up in Auguste because the Six Dragons insisted I take a vacation, which is just... unfathomable considering everything can still go haywire in the Sky Realm! Not only did they lock my powers, they even brought in (Captain)'s crew to lure me onto their ship! So here I am, vacationing on the Grandcypher. Oh, what nostalgia... I'm crying!

Orologia: My name is Orologia. I'm a wedge equal in standing to the Six Dragons, and I control causality and the flow of time.
Orologia: Given the myriad of places and timelines I exist in, my personality was forged by feedback from the Sky Realm almost right from the start.
Orologia: I think.
Orologia: Given how little I contributed to the skydwellers' victory in the War, I can't help but wonder if—
Orologia: Eh, never mind. I'll leave it at that. In any case, it's my duty to ensure the world's survival by stepping in to head off potential issues.
Orologia: Obviously that's easier said than done. Making the right call on the first try is a crapshoot, which is why I run simulations beforehand.
Orologia: I observe how things play out within an exact replica of the Sky Realm, and then tinker with reality based on those results.
Orologia: But it's not a one-off thing. I repeat that process again. And again. And again. Alone.
Orologia: In essence, I ultimately influence the paths available to the living based on my intervening choices.
Orologia: It goes without saying that some of those paths are more treacherous to traverse than others.
Orologia: Sometimes all I can do is turn a blind eye to those misfortunate few while others live on blissfully unaware.
Orologia: I know their plight is my fault. My sin.
Orologia: So when my personality was on the verge of collapsing under the weight of countless simulation data, I saw it as punishment for my one-sided deeds.
Orologia: After running repeated permutations and intervening wherever I saw fit, I would walk off into the sunset by my lonesome. Yep, that's how I thought it was to be.
Orologia: Emphasis on "was," (Captain).
Orologia: Nnh... Mm...
Wilnas: This is shocking. Just the sight of this makes my stomach churn!
Wamdus: I feel faint...
Galleon: Bafflement.
(This is certainly an unexpected development.)
Orologia: Unnh?
Fediel: Hm? Oh, glad you're finally awake, Orologia.
Orologia: Uh-huh... Where are we?
Lu Woh: Auguste, at what the children of man term a "resort." This establishment was meant to serve as the ideal refuge for your convalescence.
Wamdus: Except...
Orologia: Er...
Orologia: Nooo!
Orologia: What happened to the sea! There's not a drop of it left!
Galleon: Redress.
(We Six Dragons were about to use our powers to summon the water back.)
Wamdus: Who knew the children of man were capable of drying out an entire sea...
Wilnas: Hahaha! Flex that might, mortals!
Lu Woh: I don't know how you can laugh at a time like this. Nevertheless, the situation is manageable. The sea should refill swiftly so long as the tetra-elements cooperate.
Orologia: Or... I could've run simulations to prevent this whole unhappy scenario from ever unfolding...
Wamdus: Hold your horses, Logia.
Orologia: But this is what happens when I rein them in! Protecting the world gets dialed up to level impossible without my simulations! See? Seeee?
Galleon: Regression.
(We arrive back at this topic again...)
Ewiyar: Enough chatter! The sooner we fill this empty bowl back up with water, the better!
Galleon: Surprise.
(Oh? What a rare outburst of initiative coming from you, Ewiyar.)
Ewiyar: No one in their right mind would operate a seaside food stall without a sea! And I demand my delectables!
Lu Woh: Some things never change.
Wamdus: Okay, there's no point in dragging this out. Here I go.
Wilnas: Bravo! Everything is back to the way it used to be!
Fediel: Creatures of the depths and the children of man now have one less worry.
Galleon: Blessings.
(Blessed kisses to the life-nurturing sea and the primal that protects it.)
Orologia: All righty, everyone! Lend your undivided attention to Logia for a sec! It's now painfully clear that this is not the time for me to be taking a vacation!
Fediel: Must we sit through your tired objections again? Excuse me while I tune you out.
Orologia: This is too important to give me the cold shoulder! You have to listen to me!
Lu Woh: Orologia.
Lu Woh: It was decided you would go on a sabbatical, and that is final. That means no simulations either for the duration of your rest period.
Orologia: Ugggh... Come on...
Fediel: Sigh. We can make demands all we want, but that is the face of a wedge who's just waiting for the chance to meddle with time.
Wilnas: True. Such is the devotion of someone who will stop at nothing to accomplish their duty.
Wamdus: It doesn't pay to be a workaholic.
Galleon: Apprehension.
(Must we place a seal on Orologia's power then?)
Lu Woh: Although creating a complete seal does not seem possible, perhaps a partial one could still perform as a barricade.
Wamdus: And then if Logia tries anything funny, the barricade will push back, forcing Logia to stop and think.
Orologia: Whoa... Isn't that a tad much?
Wilnas: Perhaps, but unless anyone has a better idea to ensure you actually get some rest...
Orologia: I... I can't promise anything...
Lu Woh: Sigh... Then you leave us little choice.
Fediel: A seal it is.
Orologia: Eep...
The Six Dragons swarm Orologia, preventing the time wedge from using a door to escape.
Ewiyar: Would you stop squirming? You're worse than a mortal child throwing a hissy fit.
Orologia: Gyaaah! Save me!
Lu Woh: ...
Six Dragons: ...!
Orologia: Oh... dear...
Orologia: This can't be happening... It's like there's an invisible wall between me and the simulation world...
Wamdus: What did we say about taking it easy, Logia? You're making Wam angry.
Orologia: Ulp! S-sorry!
Galleon: Restless.
(That our concerns can't seem to reach you opens the door to heartache.)
Orologia: It's not... I mean... Sorry...
Lu Woh: ...
Wilnas: Moving on! Seeing as how we are back in the presence of pans and flame, we may as well cook up a storm!
Orologia: Good idea! Let's get this kitchen roaring. What's on the menu, Wil?
Fediel: Hmph, good luck trying to get this one to sit still.
Galleon: Diligence.
(The very definition of a workaholic.)
Wamdus: Count me in too then. That way I can steal some of Logia's workload.
Ewiyar: Talk about a one-track mind. It's a shame the time wedge isn't calm and composed like yours truly.
Lu Woh: Calm and composed? Hm...
Galleon: Premonition.
(Have you hit upon the next move, Lu Woh?)
Lu Woh: Yes, though it may subject the children of man to some consternation.
Wilnas: Oho! The aroma from this dish is astounding! One cannot argue with Orologia's talent for culinary arts!
Orologia: Hehehe. Big or small, I can do it all!
Wamdus: Wam helped too, you know! Those vegetables didn't cut themselves.
Galleon: Exquisite.
(Yes, they have been sliced perfectly. I should also expand my repertoire.)
Orologia: Hm? Say, where's Luo?
Fediel: Oh, he'll be—
Lu Woh: Right this way.
Orologia: Huh?
Lyria: Hi!
Vyrn: Heyo! Wow, all the Six Dragons really are here!
(Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn follow Lu Woh to Wil's Mess.
Orologia: Lyria? Vyrn? And you!
Orologia: Why did you bring them here, Lu Woh?
Lu Woh: We do what we must so that you may actually get some rest.
Fediel: Frankly, you will never put down your work as long as we're in each other's company.
Orologia: While that may very well be true, it's for a good reason! Who knows what untold doom will unfold if a wedge forgets their duty!
Wamdus: Yeah, that is a tough pill to swallow.
Galleon: Recuperation.
(However, your spirit is in tatters. It is imperative to be well-rested.)
Ewiyar: The world won't survive another episode from a malfunctioning time wedge!
Lu Woh: To avoid such a recurrence, a period of rejuvenation aboard the singularity's ship, one that has even accommodated Ewiyar, would do you well.
Wilnas: We apologize for dragging the children of man into our affairs, but could we ask your crew to take in Orologia?
Lyria: Onto our ship?
Lu Woh: Yes.
Lyria: I'm not sure if I understand the whole picture, but it sounds like you want us to help Orologia forget about work and focus on having fun.
Wilnas: Brilliantly summarized, Lyria. You hit it right on the head!
Vyrn: Sounds totally fine to me. All good, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods, drawing sighs of relief from the Six Dragons.
Wilnas: This isn't much in the way of thanks, but do gorge yourselves on this meal!
Lyria: Oooh! Looks yummy! You really don't mind?
Wamdus: Wil and I helped Logia make it. That's why it's not bitter lump of coal.
Lyria: How about that!
Orologia: Excuse me, aren't you forgetting something? Suddenly adding another mouth to feed to your crew is a logistical nightmare!
Vyrn: Nah, the Grandcypher's got cabins to spare. It's not a problem at all.
Vyrn: I guess if you're that worried about it, feel free to pitch in on a few small chores.
Orologia: Guh...
Orologia: (I wish I could come! I really do! I would love nothing more than to fly with you all!)
Orologia: (B-b-but I'm like (Captain)'s personal death flag! I'd only be putting the captain's life in danger if I mingled with this crew!)
Orologia: Well...
Sensing Orologia's reluctance, (Captain) cheerfully lays down the law.
  1. It's fine! Join us!

Choose: It's fine! Join us!

Orologia: Deal!
Lu Woh: Then it's settled.
Orologia: Oh, wait, whoops... Me and my big mouth...
Lyria: Not to be rude, but I do think you're looking a little drained, Orologia.
Vyrn: Gotta be the fatigue settin' in. Let's get you comfortable on the ship.
Orologia: Lyria... Vyrn... Thank you.
Orologia: (Th-this'll work out fine, right? Right?)
Lu Woh: Well, then, Singularity. We leave Orologia in your custody.
Fediel: On the honor of the Six Dragons, we promise to repay this debt to you.
Vyrn: Haha! A promise from the Six Dragons, huh? Why does that sound scary for some reason?
Lyria: Heehee, well I think we got a good deal!
After finishing an entertaining impromptu lunch with the Six Dragons, (Captain) and the others return to the ship with Orologia.
Vyrn: Boy, I wish I could open up fast-travel doors like you guys can. Zoom!
Lyria: I know, right?
Lyria: Here we are, Orologia! Welcome aboard our ship!
Orologia: ...
Orologia: Pardon my... intrusion.
Orologia: (Oh, Grandcypher! It's really you!)
Orologia: (Ah, memories...)
Vyrn: Right then. We'd better get a room made for Orologia!
Lyria: Yeah! Come on, you can pick out whichever one you like.
Orologia: Okay. Thanks, Lyria. Vyrn. Um... Captain.
Orologia: ...
Here aboard the Grandcypher, the crew will attempt to get Orologia to unwind and relax.
And here aboard the Grandcypher, Orologia will have plenty of time to reminisce about some of the fonder memories once created in a simulated world.
