When the World Finds Peace
Seofon has prepared various attractions, such as an archery game using replicas of the Two-Crown Bow, die-cutting based on his sword spirits, and whack-a-mole with monsters. With the assistance of (Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn, the Eternal is determined to entertain the next day's festivalgoers.
The crew arrives at a house Seofon says he's borrowing for the duration of the festival.
Seofon: So this is our base of operations! Make yourselves at home! Who's up for some tea?
Vyrn: I'm gettin' deja vu here... We just talked about needing to start prep work, remember?
Seofon: Oh, right... My mistake. I got carried away.
Seofon: Everyone coming together to prep for the festival just has me so pumped.
Seofon: Hanging out at a friend's house, sipping tea, munching on snacks, all while working towards a singular goal...
Seofon: It's just... nice! No?
Lyria: I know what you mean! Coming together like this gets me excited too!
Seofon: That's the spirit, Lyria! You get it!
Vyrn: Stop spoilin' him! We've got work to do!
Seofon: Oh, Vyrn, the surprisingly responsible adult...
Seofon: Well then, let me explain what exactly we'll be doing.
Seofon: Today's job is to set up the stall. That includes inspecting the prizes and getting them all in order. Then we'll need to make sure the mechanisms for the games are working as intended.
Seofon: I'll transport the prizes and doodads to the venue later this evening.
Seofon: As for the main event tomorrow, I'll need help running the stall.
Lyria: So the stall has to be up and ready to go by tonight... We'll have to work quick.
Vyrn: That's what I've been tryin' to say all along. Let's get to it!
Seofon: Love the enthusiasm, Vyrn! Here, come with me!
Seofon: Behold, the Eternals-Approved Unmissable Archery Challenge!
Seofon: The prizes are special sweets from Stardust Town, sent by Feower and Tien!
Lyria: Ooh... They look delicious!
Vyrn: An archery challenge... So we're usin' bows instead of guns for the attraction?
Seofon: That's right! Using the traditional rubber bullet guns would've worked too...
Seofon: But this kind of opportunity doesn't come every day, so I went the extra mile with bows!
Vyrn: So these are the bows we're—
Vyrn: Wait a sec!
Lyria: Wow! The box is full of Two-Crown Bows!
Seofon: They look just like the real thing, huh. I asked a craftsman skilled in detailed handiwork to make them.
Seofon: They should be light enough for even Lyria to hold.
Lyria: You're right! If it were a real bow, I definitely wouldn't be able to lift it.
Lyria: But this still feels a bit heavy for me... Shooting it might not be so easy.
Seofon: No worries there either. We have both adult and child versions. This smaller one's the latter.
Vyrn: Whoa, even I can hold this! Hehe, how do I look? Pretty cool, yeah?
(Captain) applauds Vyrn, who poses confidently with the bow.
Seofon: You're free to take one for yourselves. Consider it a souvenir.
Vyrn: Hmm, even if they do look like Two-Crown Bows, we'll be shootin' rubber suction cup arrows... Kinda lacks impact.
Lyria: Then again, making them too close to the real thing could be dangerous. I'd say this is just right!
Vyrn: Fair enough. So whaddya need help with here? I mean, the bows and arrows seem ready to go...
Seofon: Truth is, I got so distracted with the bows that I completely forgot about the targets.
Vyrn: Wha? How do ya expect people to hit a target that doesn't exist?
Seofon: Exactly... Which is why I need your help making the targets.
Seofon: Just stick the numbered papers on the small items in that box.
Vyrn: Sounds like something me or Lyria could handle.
Seofon: Could I ask you to take care of that, Vyrn? I have other tasks in mind for (Captain) and Lyria.
Vyrn: So there's more stuff to do... Wait, are we gonna have more than one stall?
Leaving Vyrn to his task, (Captain) and Lyria follow Seofon.
Seofon: Next up... Die-cutting blocks, based on the finer samples from my collection of sword spirits!
Seofon: Take a look at the Seven-Star Sword one. The blend of gravitas and brilliance in the colors... Is it amazing or what?
Lyria: It looks like the real thing... Even the details on the sword's hilt are accurate!
Lyria: Did you also find an artisan for these, like with the Two-Crown Bows earlier?
Seofon: Exactly! It was a real struggle just to locate a suitable manufacturer.
Seofon: And when I finally found someone, they said it was impossible to meet the deadline without a pricey rush order fee...
Seofon: In the end, I'm just really hyped that I was able to get these made!
Lyria: Considering how much it must've cost, I can imagine.
Seofon: Yeah, because even though they rushed it, these only arrived this morning.
Seofon: I haven't had a chance to open the packages yet. They should be fine, but I could really use help inspecting them.
Seofon: I wouldn't want our visitors to end up with anything that looks or feels off.
Lyria: Leave this to me! I'm good at spotting tiny details!
Seofon: Now we're talking! All right, Lyria, I'm counting on you!
Seofon: And as for you, (Captain), I've got a more physical task in mind. Come along.
Following Seofon to the back entrance, (Captain) sees a completed stall.
Seofon: This is the Eternals Whack-a-Mole station that I built during late nights atop Terra.
Seofon: It's a fun little whack-a-mole game. Nothing too fancy here.
Seofon moves to the opposite side to operate the controls.
Small monster figures pop out of the corresponding holes in the machine.
Seofon: The twist is that I control the popping monsters, making it more challenging.
Flashing a sly smile, Seofon intensifies his focus.
The monster faces begin bursting forth at such alarming speed that even (Captain) has difficulty tracking their movements.
Seofon: I need your help adjusting the difficulty level of this game.
Seofon: When I was testing it on Terra, Seox lent a hand, but, well... You know how he is, right?
Choose: I might even surpass Seox.
Seofon: Ooh! Bold statement! If you're gonna talk big, you'd better have the chops to match!
Choose: Don't expect me to hold back.
Seofon: I was hoping you'd say that—
Seofon: Uh, (Captain)? Maybe you don't need to grip the hammer so tightly...
Seofon: These things took a lot of effort to create... So try to go easier on them...
Continue 1
A quiet yet fierce clash between the captain and the Eternal commences.
Seofon: Huff... Huff... I didn't expect you take it this far, (Captain)...
Choose: I-I can't raise my arms...
Lyria: (Captain), Seofon! We finished our tasks, but...
Vyrn: Why are you two so exhausted?
Seofon: Haha... We might've gotten a bit carried away...
Seofon: I learned a lot from the session though. Now I've got a better grasp of how it should work.
Seofon: Thanks, you guys. I think we're all set for the main event!
Lyria: You're welcome! Besides, the real fun starts tomorrow!
Vyrn: Yeah, all this prep work's got me psyched for the big day!
Seofon: Nice to see you're getting into the festive spirit too, Vyrn! I'll be counting on you to keep up the good work!
Vyrn: You got it!
Vyrn: Anyhoo, what stall were you two workin' on all this time?
Lyria: Oh, it's a whack-a-mole game! See, press this and they pop up!
Vyrn: So you guys were whackin' moles for hours? No wonder you're so tired...
Lyria: Haha, I can see how it might be addictive. It's so fun to just to see them bounce up and down!
Lyria: Vyrn, why don't we try it too? It'll be good practice for tomorrow!
Vyrn: Sure, but... isn't this a bit unfair for me— whether I'm whackin' or controllin' the monsters?
Lyria: Don't worry, Vyrn; you can do it!
Vyrn: Well... Okay, I guess I can give it a shot.
Lyria and Vyrn become fully engrossed in a game of whack-a-mole.
(Captain) watches the two with a warm smile.
Seofon: (I'm glad they're enjoying it. I think we really made something good here. Now, it's up to me to shine tomorrow!)
The sight of their revelry fills Seofon with further resolve.
When the World Finds Peace: Scene 2
Seofon's stalls prove very popular. One family expresses gratitude, noting that this may be the island's first and last such festival, given monster attacks. Though Seofon assures them he will return, he takes their words to heart—and notices how (Captain)'s gaze lingers on the family as they depart.
The following night, the festival venue is buzzing with excitement, undiminished by the quaintness of the small island.
Lyria: Get your die-cutting blocks here! There's no waiting time right now!
Vyrn: Hey, (Captain)! Help me hand out the prizes over here!
Seofon: All right, sixty points! Now head over to that little red dragon for your prize!
Choose: It's getting busy fast!
Seofon's stalls are a resounding success, entertaining a constant stream of visitors right from the beginning of the festival.
Boy's Voice: Dad! Look, it's the die-cutting game! Can I try it? Please?
Father's Voice: You think you can do it? It's not as easy as it looks, you know.
Lyria: Not to worry—we have simple ones available too!
Mother: Really? Are there designs that even younger children can manage?
Girl: I'm not a little kid! I can do it better than my brother! He's just clumsy!
Boy: Hey! Take that back!
Father: Now, now, no fighting in front of the nice lady... Sorry for the trouble.
Lyria: Oh, no, no... It's really no problem at all!
Lyria: What kind of designs would you two like?
Boy: Something cool!
Girl: Something pretty!
Lyria: Okay! Let's go pick out some designs together over there!
Lyria: If you need any help, just ask me, okay?
Boy & Girl: Okay!
Boy: I... I did it!
Lyria: Wow, great job!
Girl: You kept messing up though.
Boy: Sh-shut up! Mine looks cooler than yours anyway!
Girl: At least mine looks prettier than yours!
Lyria: Haha... If you'd like, why not check out some of our other attractions too?
Girl: Really?
Boy: Awesome! I wanna try that archery game!
Girl: Do you even know how to use a bow?
Boy: How hard could it be? Just watch me!
Boy: Rgh!
Vyrn: Hey, maybe the big bow is still a bit too much for ya?
Lyria: We have smaller, easier-to-use bows for children too. You can even move a bit closer...
Boy: No, I can do this! I'll hit it next time!
Seofon: Ah, that's the spirit! Kids should be full of energy!
Vyrn: Seofon! What about the whack-a-mole game?
Seofon: Oh, seeing (Captain)'s interest earlier, I left that in the captain's very capable hands. Now then...
Seofon notices the boy struggling and flashes a wide grin.
Seofon: Hey there, young man! Having a tough time, huh?
Boy: Uh, who are you, old man?
Seofon: O-old?
Seofon: I'm the sprightly young guy running this stall—just a festival enthusiast!
Girl: You sound fishy...
Seofon: Ouch...
Seofon: Well, listen up. Shooting a bow isn't about using sheer force.
Seofon: You need to relax, then pour all your energy into the shot at the final moment. Try loosening your shoulders first.
Boy: Like this?
Woah!
Woah!
The boy does as Seofon instructed, only to lose his balance from the bow's weight.
Fortunately the Eternal is there to catch him.
Seofon: Careful there. See, it's important to use equipment that matches your size and strength.
Boy: Okay...
Seofon: Now try using this smaller bow and move a bit closer.
Boy: I-I'm gonna do it from this spot!
Seofon: Sure... True, it's no good to give up on something before trying.
Lyria: Here's your bow. Good luck!
Boy: Thank you, miss!
Seofon: Why does Lyria get so much more of a warm reception...
With a deep breath, the boy carefully draws back the bowstring and releases the arrow.
Lyria: Great job! That's five points!
Boy: I-I did it!
Seofon: Well done! You've got skill!
Boy: I'm gonna try the other targets too!
Feeling energized, the boy hits another five-point target and exchanges his ten points for a prize.
Boy: See? I'm awesome!
Girl: I want a prize too!
Seofon: Well then, why don't you try the whack-a-mole game? Right now, (Captain) is running it, so this might be your chance!
Boy: Chance? What do you mean?
Seofon: Between me and that stallkeeper, who looks stronger?
Girl: That's a tough question...
Boy: Never mind the old man; let's just do it!
Seofon: Hey, wait a sec! Call me the festival enthusiast, okay!
Vyrn: Normally I'd be rootin' for (Captain), but let's cheer the kids on this time around!
Lyria: Haha! Yes, let's!
Seofon watches them head to the whack-a-mole game, slightly deflated.
Seofon: Good luck, guys...
The parents approach Seofon, looking apologetic.
Father: Sorry about earlier. The kids are just really excited since it's their first festival.
Mother: And thank you so much for your kindness. We really appreciate it.
Seofon: No worries at all. We're having lots of fun too.
Father: Glad to hear it. By the way, would you happen to be a friend of the village chief?
Seofon: Well, sort of... More like a friend of a friend.
Father: I see... We heard that this festival was made possible through an old friend of the village chief's.
Mother: We've been wanting to thank him as well.
Father: This is such a wonderful event for our small island. It's likely the last of its kind we'll ever see.
Seofon: Hey, never say never. I, at least, do plan on coming back someday.
Father: Haha, we appreciate that. Times are tough, but we can always hope.
Mother: We had quite a scare with monsters recently.
Mother: That's probably why our son is so eager to use a bow.
Seofon: I see...
Father: But it's no use dwelling on the negative. This is a celebration after all.
Mother: Thank you for listening and making this a special night.
Seofon: Not at all—it's important to let off some steam every now and then. Otherwise you'd be gloomy all the time, right?
Girl: Mom! Dad! I got a prize!
Boy: We got so many treats!
Mother: How wonderful! Why don't we enjoy them while watching the fireworks?
Father: Let's find a spot to enjoy the view first. We shouldn't bother the nice people here any longer.
Boy: Thanks, ol—mister!
Seofon: You're welcome. Glad you kids enjoyed yourselves!
Girl: It was super fun! Let's do it again sometime!
Lyria: Yes! Definitely!
Vyrn: See ya!
The family waves goodbye and disappears into the crowd.
(Captain) continues waving until they are out of sight.
Seofon: ...
When the World Finds Peace: Scene 3
As the festival nears its end, Seofon expresses his wish for a world where peaceful times could be the everyday norm. While (Captain) and Seofon share each other's dreams of peace in the skies, they quickly get to talking about stall plans for the following year's festival.
As the festival draws to a close, the crowds begin to thin.
People head toward the concert stage for the night's finale.
Lyria: Niyon's performance against a backdrop of fireworks... I can't wait!
Vyrn: Let's finish cleaning up so we can go check it out too!
Seofon: No need for that. Feel free to take off and enjoy the festival.
Seofon: You guys have already done so much; leave the cleanup to me.
Vyrn: Aw, don't be a stranger! We're helpin' out till the end!
Lyria: Exactly! It'll go much faster if we all pitch in anyway!
Seofon: That may be true, but still...
Choose: Can you two go get us refreshments?
Vyrn: So while Lyria and I are shoppin', you and Seofon are gonna clean up?
Seofon: No, no! Really, I've got this, (Captain)—
Vyrn: I think (Captain)'s mind is already made up on this, Seofon. You might as well accept it.
Lyria: Ahaha... Then let's hurry and get some snacks!
Vyrn: Right! Candy apples, yakisoba—we'll grab everything we see!
(Captain) nods with an encouraging smile as the two leave.
Seofon: Really appreciate you going the extra mile to help me out, (Captain).
Seofon: Well then, let's get to work so we can enjoy Niyon's performance and the fireworks later.
The two begin packing up.
While (Captain) carefully puts away the targets and replica bows used for the archery game...
Seofon disassembles the stalls.
Seofon: ...
Seofon: Oh... Sorry! I got a bit sentimental.
Seofon: Today's been an absolute blast, and now that it's ending... I'm feeling kinda lonely.
Seofon: Festivals aren't an everyday thing.
Seofon: But imagine living in a world where this festive atmosphere is a regular thing.
Seofon stops to look up at the sky.
Seofon: In such a world, the Eternals wouldn't be needed.
Seofon: You wouldn't be called the singularity either.
Seofon: You'd have your parents by your side, maybe siblings too.
Seofon: The other Eternals have changed so much since I first met them...
Seofon: Of course it's a shame that everyone's schedules didn't align, but I was actually glad in a way.
Seofon: It feels like we've all been able to enjoy more peaceful times lately... Things really have changed for the better.
Seofon: But when I saw the look on your face as you bid that family farewell earlier...
(Captain) recalls the scene.
The captain had sent them off with a smile. However, in that instant...
(Captain), too, might have felt a twinge of longing for such cherished family moments.
Choose: Every day is fun for me.
Seofon: (Captain)... You're really strong of heart, you know.
Choose: I like the world as it is now.
Seofon: Yeah. You always were the kind of person to say such a thing with conviction.
Continue 1
Seofon: Even so, as your elder, I hope you get to enjoy those heartfelt moments too.
Seofon: Once you've reached Estalucia, reunited with your father, resolved everything...
Seofon: Maybe I can be the quirky stallkeeper for when your family visits the festival.
Seofon: Big Brother Seofon's always here for you, (Captain). Let me know if you ever need anything.
Seofon: Both as an individual and as the leader of the Eternals, I want to do what I can to solve your issues.
Seofon: It'd be for the benefit of the skies as well.
Seofon: Whoa, it sure is embarrassing being thanked so frankly like that!
Seofon: Aw, we haven't made much progress with the cleanup... Let's speed things up!
The two quickly get back to packing.
Suddenly, a question crosses the captain's mind.
Choose: What do you want to do, Seofon?
Seofon: Huh?
Choose: If the world becomes peaceful...
Seofon: ...
Seofon: Good question...
Seofon: I think I'd like to run this kind of festival stall—ideally with you by my side.
Choose: Next year, let's make yakisoba.
Seofon: Next year?
Seofon: Sounds good. I'll let Anre know too.
Seofon: If I can get at least one of the Eternals to help, that'll be perfect! I'd better double-check their schedules early!
Seofon: Oh, and let's decide on the type of yakisoba too.
Seofon: I think we can give it a unique touch with the ingredients we use.
Seofon: We could even have the noodles overseen by an expert... This is getting exciting!
Seofon and (Captain) discuss the following year's festival plans with great enthusiasm.
For it to come true, the Eternal is determined to keep striving forward.
