Together We Waltz
(Captain) and company watch as Shushuku and Baihu engage in battle. The back and forth between the two resembles a beautiful dance, and it is through this exchange that Shushuku finally accepts the childhood of hardship she had to endure. Reinvigorated, she prepares to finish Baihu off.
In order to observe Shushuku's battle with Baihu, the crew heads over to Western Solitary at the crack of dawn.
Baihu: ...!
The cardinal beast bares its fangs, snapping at Shushuku as if to signify that it had been awaiting her arrival.
Shushuku: (Captain), you guys wait over there and watch.
The captain heeds her words, standing down to give Shushuku some space.
Shushuku: Baihu... I don't know why, but I think I understand what's going through your mind.
Shushuku: My body feels incredibly hot, like something in there's about to bubble over...
Shushuku: I'm sure it's the same for you. We've both been holding it in for far too long.
Taking a moment to tighten the grip on her family's sword, Shushuku faces Baihu.
Shushuku: Now I'm in the mood for a fight! Face me, Baihu—right here, right now!
Baihu: ...!
Shushuku: Volleying Blade!
Shushuku: Next up, Piercing Blade!
Shushuku: Striking Blade!
Shushuku unleashes a flurry of attacks, her body perfectly remembering the techniques she had practiced hundreds, if not thousands, of times as a child.
Shushuku: ...
The two exchange blows in a battle reminiscent of a captivating waltz.
Lyria: Whoa... It's almost like Shushuku and Baihu are dancing!
Baihu: ...!
Baihu slams its paws into a massive boulder, crushing it and causing a slew of rock shards to rain down on the nearby crew.
Shushuku: ...
In an instant, Shushuku leaps in front of the others and protects them from the falling debris with a twirl of her blade.
Vyrn: Nice save! Thanks!
Shushuku: H-huh? My body just moved on its own...
Young Shushuku: Sniffle... Volleying Blade... One, two, three!
Shushuku: Oh... This must be from all the training the old me did...
Shushuku: Yeah, that's right! I am who I am today thanks to everything I've gone through so far!
Young Shushuku: ...!
Shushuku: Heh...
Grinning ever so slightly, Shushuku once again readies her weapon.
Shushuku: We're not done yet... I'm only getting started!
Shushuku: Volleying Blade! This time, I'm going all out!
Baihu: ...!
Shushuku's once graceful movements grow increasingly irregular, and she slashes at Baihu from every direction.
Lyria: Wow... I can barely even see her!
Shushuku: Ahahaha! I gotta say, this is pretty fun!
Baihu: ...!
In response to Shushuku's incredible fervor, Baihu lets out a ferocious roar, and the two thrust themselves into battle once more.
Together We Waltz: Scene 2
Having finally bested Baihu, Shushuku nearly breaks out into tears. While preparing to perform a wake, she notices that Baihu appears dejected and decides against it. Immediately thereafter, she collapses from exhaustion, so the crew brings her aboard the Grandcypher.
Shushuku: Take this! Hragh!
Baihu: ...!
Shushuku: Ahahaha! Say, Baihu! Are you having fun too?
Vyrn: Uh... They're supposed to be fightin', right?
Lyria: Hm... It feels more like they're playing around though.
Shushuku: Grrragh!
Baihu: ...
Shushuku shouts at the top of her lungs as she finishes Baihu off, after which the defeated cardinal beast slowly fades away.
Lyria: You did it, Shushuku!
Vyrn: Yeah, we saw everything!
Shushuku: I did it... I won!
Shushuku: Thanks, (Captain)! Vyrn, Lyria—you too! Thank you so much!
Seeing Shushuku on the verge of tears, (Captain) shoots her a smile to lighten her mood.
Shushuku: Haha... Ahahaha...
After gathering themselves, the crewmates notice another beautiful pendant lying where Baihu had fallen mere moments ago.
Shushuku: This must be proof that I've bested Baihu—I'm sure of it.
As Shushuku picks the pendant up, it begins to resonate with the one in (Captain)'s hand, merging to form a single, shining yupei.
Shushuku: Um... I think I'm supposed to perform a wake on this as a Cardinal Saint or something...
Shushuku: Hm? Where am I?
Baihu: ...
Shushuku: Oh, it's you. Why do you look so sad?
Shushuku: Wait, I know! Were you feeling lonely after I left you?
Shushuku: Ahahaha! You're a lot more adorable than you let yourself on to be!
Shushuku: Don't worry. I'll be back again soon. We'll have even more fun next time, got it?
Baihu: ...!
Lyria: Shushuku! Are you okay?
Shushuku: Yeah! I don't think I'll be performing a wake though!
Vyrn: Are you allowed to do that? I thought your little handbook said it was part of your duties or whatever.
Shushuku: I'm not sure—at all, actually! But I get the feeling that it's better this way.
Shushuku: Phew... Finally, I can—
Lyria: Eep! Are you sure you're okay, Shushuku?
Shushuku: Need... water...
Lyria: Ah, right! I'll go get you some!
Vyrn: I dunno, this is Shushuku we're talkin' about here. She might start askin' for milk like last time.
Vyrn: We thought you'd ask, so we grabbed some on the way back. It's not from the Ox Temple, but it's still fresh milk.
Shushuku: Actually, on second thought... I'd like some juice... A mix of watermelon, grape, and strawberry, please...
Vyrn: Hey! Ever heard of "beggars can't be choosers?"
Lyria: I'm sorry, Shushuku, but we really don't have any fruit juice around...
Suddenly, a loud rumbling fills the air, and the ground beneath the crew begins to shake violently.
Vyrn: The island's movin' again! If it gets to the Grim Basin, we're done for!
Lyria: Shushuku, wake up! We gotta get out of here!
Shushuku: I can't move... I'm exhausted from going all out earlier...
Lyria: No way...
Shushuku: I'm gonna take a nap... The rest of you can go on ahead without me...
Vyrn: Sheesh... What should we do with her, (Captain)?
Choose: Drag her aboard the Grandcypher.
Vyrn: Yeah, seems pretty dangerous out here...
Lyria: I'd rather not leave her by herself either...
Shushuku: Hrgh... Carry me, (Captain)...
Vyrn: I saw you open your eyes. We still have the option of leavin' ya here, y'know!
Vyrn: I guess you're right. Some self-reflection wouldn't hurt. We all know she needs it.
Shushuku: ...

(Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn exchange glances before walking off on their own.
Shushuku: ...
Shushuku: Urgh...
Shushuku: Fine, do whatever you want! But I have one thing to say!
Shushuku: I'm gonna feel really lonely if you just abandon me!
Vyrn: Ya should've led with that! We're not mind readers, y'know...
Although Shushuku hems and haws, the crew ultimately decides to welcome her aboard the Grandcypher.
