Of Storm Dragons and Food Festivals

Veldora and Ramiris approach the crew one day begging to explore some of what the Sky Realm has to offer—especially in the food department. After much deliberation, the crew, with Ewiyar now in tow, decides to take the offworlders to a curious event known as a "food festival."

One clear day, citizens of the Jura Tempest Federation dropped out of the sky and into the crew's lives.
The immense power that dragged them here threatened to throw the entirety of the Sky Realm into utter chaos.
(Captain) and the crew prevented the worst from happening, but now the visitors are stuck waiting for a chance to return to their world.
Veldora: Hmm...
Ramiris: Stop being such a scaredy-cat, Master! Go on, talk to them!
Veldora: V-very well! I'm going to do it! Here I go!
Vyrn: What are those guys up to now?
Lyria: I think they're discussing things to do to pass the time?
Vyrn: As long as they don't start talkin' about saving the world and stuff again!
Veldora: Hello there, (Captain)!
Vyrn: Wah! Take cover, they're comin' this way!
  1. What's up?

Choose: What's up?
Veldora: Um. Well, it's... we'd like to...
Ramiris: Be strong, Master!
Veldora: W-we'd like to go do some sightseeing!
Vyrn: Wh-what the heck!
Vyrn: Actually, wait, that's not that weird.
Lyria: Oh, th-that's lovely! Why were you acting so nervous, then?
Veldora: Well... I thought you'd turn us down if we asked you to come with us...
Vyrn: What the heck!
  1. You don't need to be that polite!

Choose: You don't need to be that polite!
Veldora: What kind of dragon do you take me for!
Ramiris: Sorry Master, I just thought it'd be funny...
Vyrn: Well, y'know, we could do... that.
The captain nods deeply in agreement, recalling the conversation the crew had with Rimuru a few days prior.
Lyria: You wanted to talk with us, Rimuru?
Rimuru: It won't take very long, promise—I wanted to talk with you about Veldora.
Rimuru: I shouldn't be saying this, but you'd better keep an extra close eye on him.
Vyrn: You worried about him while he's stuck here?
Rimuru: Exactly that. Usually I'd be able to keep tabs on him using my Universal Detect and Soul Corridor, but not in this world.
Rimuru: The way both of your souls are linked is very similar to mine and Veldora's.
Vyrn: Surely there's nothing to worry about then!
Rimuru: Well, no, there shouldn't be... But Veldora is practically made of curiosity.
Rimuru: He has a tendency to have unexpected events fall into his lap, too. I'm worried that something along those lines could also happen here.
Lyria: You're right, it was crazy to see him in action before! He was able to tinker with and fix machines that were broken beyond repair!
Rimuru: See! I mean, he's still an adult, so I don't want to be overbearing and stifle his freedom, but, even so...
Rimuru: I've been away from the Grandcypher doing this and that more and more as of late, and I'm starting to get concerned.
Rimuru: If you could just keep watch and gently guide him away from mischief, that'd be a huge relief! Think of it as watching a cat take a stroll around the neighborhood.
Veldora: A cat!
Lyria: So, you see... We can't really let you just wander off wherever you want...
Veldora: Ugh. If I were only my normal self, this wouldn't be an issue!
Veldora: Prepare yourselves, mortals! I promise you this—from now on, I'll be a whole new Storm Dragon!
Vyrn: A whole new dragon?
Ramiris: He means he's sorry.
Veldora: W-well, that's one way of putting it. If that keeps Rimuru off my back, so be it.
Veldora: I have decided to try and not be so selfish in my actions, so I've come to you now to ask for permission to go on a group excursion!
Vyrn: Well, you can't say he isn't honest.
  1. How humble of you!

Choose: How humble of you!
Lyria: Exactly! Rimuru will be so pleased with you!
Ramiris: Did you hear that, Master?
Veldora: Indeed I did! I'm the epitome of maturity in dragon form!
Vyrn: Now you just gotta tell us what kinda places you wanna see the sights of!
Ramiris: Ooh, I know, I know! Somewhere full of people! And with lots of scrumptious food!
Veldora: Indeed! I must try the wonderful dishes you have here in this world!
Lyria: A place with lots of different kinds of food. Hmm... Oh! What are both of your favorites?
Veldora & Ramiris: Sweet things!
Ramiris: Cake, pudding, candy—anything with heaps of sugar!
Veldora: Of course, we'd like to try other things as well!
Lyria: Hmm... Somewhere with lots of people, piles of candy and desserts, but also a big variety of things to try...
Vyrn: And all of that while also counting as sightseeing?
The captain suggests a number of different ideas, and after intense debate, one seems to stand above the rest.
Vyrn: A food festival? Do they even do those?
Lyria: Yes, I remember they do! I think Sierokarte mentioned one not too long ago.
Lyria: She said it's packed with yummy food from every corner of the Sky Realm, all in one place!
Ramiris: Yummy food...
Veldora: In one place!
Lyria: Hehe, sounded like there'd also be plenty of sweet stuff there for you two to try!
Ramiris: Don't need to tell me twice! What are we waiting for, Master?
Ewiyar: Yes, indeed! Time is of the essence!
Ramiris: The dragon cat's right! If we don't hurry, all the good stuff'll be sold out!
Ramiris: W-wait... cat? When did you get there! Get off of Master!
Veldora: She's been sitting here the whole time we were talking, Ramiris.
Ramiris: I didn't even notice—she looks like she belongs there, even! I wish she'd stop treating you as her property!
Ewiyar: I haven't the foggiest idea what you mean! I merely go where I please—this was always meant to be my personal napping spot!
Ramiris: Excuse me! I think you'll find that Master is my place to perch!
Veldora: There's literally no need to squabble, you two. Last time I checked, I have more than one shoulder.
Veldora plucks Ramiris out of the air and plops her down opposite Ewiyar.
Ramiris: Hmph!
Lyria: Hehe, you three look so cute!
Vyrn: A Storm Dragon sandwiched between one of the six and a Demon Lord is cute?
Veldora: Now everyone, let's go see that festival! I will allow all of you to accompany me!
Thus, the captain and the crew set off to taste the Sky Realm's culinary delights, with their merry Storm Dragon and his passengers in tow.

Of Storm Dragons and Food Festivals: Scene 2

Disaster strikes as the food festival is cancelled due to a beast destroying the town where it was to be held—to Veldora's chagrin. As Ramiris and Ewiyar bicker over who can rebuild the festival fastest, the crew is tasked with obtaining new ingredients to put the festivities back on track.

Acquiescing to Veldora's and Ramiris's request to see some of the Sky Realm, the crew and their new companions are currently en route to an interisland food festival.
They eventually alight on the island where the festivities are due to be held.
Veldora: The place is falling apart!
Ramiris: Look at all of the people! They all look so down...
Veldora: You there, ancient human! What in the Central World has happened to this town?
Battered Old Man: I'm afraid a terrible monster attacked our town.
Battered Old Man: It wreaked so much havoc here that our famed food festival had to be canceled. And everyone was in such high spirits, too...
Ramiris: Of all the places to attack, why a simple food festival? Ooh, that beast is gonna have to answer to me!
Battered Old Man: The festival is an important source of tourism and revenue for this island, and everyone looks forward to it every year, but, alas...
Battered Old Man: I am the elder of this town, but even I'm not sure how to fix this.
Veldora: Have no fear, we shall mete justice upon this foul fiend! What did it look like?
Town Elder: Ah, no, it's not here anymore. But it was truly an awful beast—impossibly strong, striking without warning or remorse, and babbling away the whole time...
Veldora: Hm? It could talk?
Town Elder: I don't know why, but after a few days of rampage it quietened down and became all small and weak, until it was no different from your run-of-the-mill imp.
Ramiris: So it was talking, and then it wasn't?
Town Elder: Even then, it still cut through the town watch as if they were made of paper.
Town Elder: I wonder what in the skies it meant when it said it wants to make our country more interesting? Or the strange names it wanted us to call it...
Veldora: ...?
Ramiris: ...
Veldora and Ramiris exchange knowing glances.
Vyrn: Sounds like one of your clone guys made that monster all powerful and stuff...
Veldora: I've got it! We'll help you rebuild the town!
Vyrn: We will?
Veldora: Grah hah hah! Leave this to me! My awesome power will make short work of this little pile of rubble!
Ewiyar: Surely it would be less annoying for us if we just let the mortals take care of it themselves?
Veldora: Absolutely not! I want to do it!
Ewiyar: Wow, you really are fired up! What's gotten into you?
Town Elder: Sigh...
Ewiyar: Hm, I suppose it's similar to when Wilnas feels all responsible after he burns a town to the ground.
Veldora: Ah, I've had some moments like that, too... But, a-anyway!
Veldora: All of these gloomy faces about don't sit well with me! A festival is supposed to be a time for joy and celebration!
Veldora: At least, back in Tempest, everyone has a wail of a time when a party's on!
Town Elder: But I've already given the order to cancel the festivities...
Veldora: Then you'd better prepare to un-cancel it, my good man! We'll get everyone smiling again, I swear it!
Ewiyar: While I agree it's good to keep your chin up, I have to say that you might be biting off more than you can chew.
Veldora: Hmph, well, I intend to enjoy every last second of this festival, come what may! I am the maelstrom incarnate—lands have fallen to ruin beneath my gales!
Veldora: However, don't misunderstand me—don't think this comes from my desire to see all these people smile or anything!
Veldora: And definitely put away any ideas that this is the result of my awe at how Rimuru built up Tempest! This is entirely my own decision!
  1. You're so cool and amazing!
  2. Well then, let's help them out!

Choose: You're so cool and amazing!
Veldora: Heheh!
Vyrn: He's so easily pleased...
Vyrn: But hey, he's right that helpin' to rebuild the town would be a pretty good idea!
Lyria: I think so too!

Choose: Well then, let's help them out!
Veldora: Hm, I think I'd have more than enough power to do this by myself...
Veldora: But the more the merrier!
Continue 1
Lyria: We'll have this place up and running again in no time! Right?
Everyone: Right!
Wilnas: Right!
Ewiyar: Wha!
Veldora: I know that voice! You're Wilnas, correct? The... vermillion one?
Ramiris: Why's another one of those Six Dragon guys here? Are he and the cat both on vacations or something?
Wilnas: Hahaha! How bold of you to assume I get any vacation time!
Wilnas: No, I'm actually here due to just how devastating this attack was. I'm trying to find ways I can help those in need.
Ramiris: That's super noble of you! But... isn't your power fire? That's not really the most helpful thing after a disaster...
Wilnas: You'd think so, wouldn't you! True, I may not be able to rebuild fortifications or purify polluted water...
Wilnas: But I'm learning how to whip up some delicious rations! If it can be cooked, I'm bringing the heat!
Ewiyar: Just a novice, and yet so full of get-up-and-go!
Veldora: You cook, do you? That's makes you just the fellow the food festival needs right now!
Veldora: Listen up, mortals! We'll help rebuild this town and take care of everything you need to get the festivities on the rails again!
Town Elder: We'd be eternally in your debt if you would. However, before anything else can be done, we must clear away all the rubble from the streets.
Town Elder: The area we'd originally slated to be the site of the main event has been reduced to ruins. I'm not sure if we can clear it in time...
Lyria: We only set out to get here for the start of the festival, so we don't have much time to put everything right...
Ramiris: Having somewhere to even hold the thing is a good start though, isn't it? Leave it to me!
Ramiris asks the townsfolk to lead her to the intended site for the festival.
Ramiris: Small World!
At her command, the pixie conjures a gargantuan door in the middle of the square, cloaked in soft golden light.
Town Elder: What in the skies?
The sudden apparition perturbs the town elder, and yet, Ramiris is as bubbly as ever.
Ramiris: Oh, that? That's the gateway to our festival, of course! You know I just had to make it extra flashy!
Upon opening the door, the elder sees a vast, ornate space yawn out before him, and his expression immediately changes.
Town Elder: How splendid! The ground's even nice and flat, so all we have to do is spruce it up and cart the stalls inside and we'll be ready!
Ramiris: And what's more, I can change the decorations to be whatever you like!
Lyria: That's amazing, Ramiris! You solved the space problem without even batting an eye!
Vyrn: I thought a "Demon Lord" was some kinda team mascot schtick, but you're packing some real power there!
Ramiris: You're the one calling me a mascot?
Veldora: Gah hah hah! Fine work there, Ramiris!
  1. You're crazy powerful!

Choose: You're crazy powerful!
Ramiris: Heh, well, I try my best!
Puffed up with pride, Ramiris deftly hops up onto Veldora's head and sits there, content.
Ewiyar: Hmph.
Ramiris: Aw, what's wrong, puddytat? You jealous of how flawlessly I pulled that off?
Ewiyar: Ha! Pat yourself on the back all you want, but it will take more than a gnat's little sleight of hand to ruffle my feathers.
Ramiris: A gnat! Who are you to address the Fairy Queen so insolently, cat!
Ewiyar: A gnat is a gnat is a gnat. They all buzz around my head instead of buzzing off like they should.
Ramiris: Masteeer! The cat's being mean to meee!
Veldora: Play nice, you two! A little bit of friendly bite is all well and good, Ewiyar, but remember: everything has its limit!
Ewiyar: Hmph, well, if you insist. I'll allow her her little victory, I guess.
Ewiyar: However, I will prove that I am in an entirely different league from this insect! I'll show her how to really fix a town!
Ewiyar: Or at the very least, make the people here bask in how wonderful, omnipotent, and incomparably pretty I am!
Ramiris: Of all the pompous, purring windbags! This isn't over, kitty!
Ramiris: I'll make the coolest, most unbeatable buildings you've ever seen! This festival's going to be the best ever!
Ramiris: Then you'll come slinking back, groveling for forgiveness and praising me for being the coolest fairy ever!
Vyrn: And off they go.
Lyria: Are you sure we shouldn't follow them?
Veldora: Absolutely no need! They both have ample power in their own right, as you just saw!
Wilnas: Hear, hear! When Ewiyar's in the mood for it, she can really work miracles!
Veldora: Well then, my wizened friend, what do you need help with next?
Town Elder: Me? Hmm... Probably the actual ingredients for the festival. The monster made short work of our stockpiles.
Wilnas: I'm sure we can rustle up some fine foodstuffs for you!
Veldora: Hold the fort for us, good sir—this will be a walk in the park! Come, (Captain)—no time like the present!
Veldora rushes off, a spring in his step, as a harried (Captain) desperately tries to keep pace behind him.
The crew chase after them, heading off to hopefully gather the necessary supplies to make the festival go off without a hitch.

Of Storm Dragons and Food Festivals: Scene 3

Hunting through the forest in search of the finest foodstuffs, the crew stumbles upon a treasure trove of goodies—yet Veldora is desperate to find a bite of something not of his world. His wish is granted by a sudden horde of rare monsters, apparently willed into existence by him. Successful in their quest, the crew heads back to town.

The crew have traveled away from the ravaged town in order to procure ingredients for the food festival.
Confronted with a large forest nearby, Veldora spurs them into venturing inside, confident their treasure lies within.
Veldora: I took down a critter over here! We can eat this one, right?
Lyria: That's one of the biggest boars I've ever seen! They'd absolutely be able to turn this into loads of pork chops, or maybe a hearty stew!
Veldora: What about these mushrooms?
Vyrn: Whoa! There's a couple of poisonous ones mixed up in there, but most of them are totally safe to eat!
Wilnas: All hands on deck! I've found a gold mine of wild vegetables growing out here!
Lyria: Ooh, just look at them all!
Their baskets are fit to bursting in almost no time, with the mission appearing to be an immense success.
However, despite everyone else's excitement, Veldora seems somewhat dissatisfied.
Veldora: Hmm.
Wilnas: What's up with you? Look at these radishes—they're thicker than my arm!
Veldora: I see carrots, parsnips, yams, taro... A treasure trove of tubers... Sigh.
Wilnas: I've never known anyone to sigh when they discover piles of fresh vegetables! Something troubling you, Veldora?
Veldora: No, not really. It's just...
Veldora: All of this food is so... normal. I thought there'd at least be something different to our world.
Lyria: You have vegetables like this in your world too?
Veldora: Vegetables, mushrooms, game... It's all the same here.
Vyrn: But doesn't that mean you'll like all the food we make here too? Isn't that a good thing?
Veldora: I guess you're right...
Veldora: But I'd expect something a little less boring after traveling all the way to another realm!
Vyrn: B-boring's a bit strong...
Veldora: Can't we find some more exciting ingredients? You know, ones that really scream "transported to lands unknown."
  1. Such as?

Choose: Such as?
Veldora: Such as... hmm...
Veldora: Something exceedingly rare... that really gets the blood pumping, maybe.
Vyrn: You don't even know what you're looking for, do you?
Lyria: Something that gets the blood pumping... So you want to hunt more?
Vyrn: It's kinda hard for us to know what seems super other worldly to you. Y'know, 'cause we live here.
Lyria: We don't really know much about your world either, Veldora. Do you know what would be rare over there?
The crew's pondering is broken by a series of rustles emanating from some nearby bushes.
Veldora: Oh, another pig?
Veldora: ...?
Lyria: Wow, I never thought I'd see deepflight oysters this far out!
Vyrn: Maybe the townspeople brought them over for the festival, and they got out when the town got ransacked.
Wilnas: Oh, that's perfect! If we bring them in, they'll become the crown jewel of the whole festival!
Veldora: What the heck was that!
  1. Deepflight oysters!

Choose: Deepflight oysters!
Lyria: They're a delicacy from an island called Auguste—and famous the sky over! Fried, roasted—they're delicious no matter how you slice them!
Veldora: N-none of you even batted an eye... Are they really that common in this world?
Vyrn: Well, you don't see them every day...
  1. Do you not have them in your world?

Choose: Do you not have them in your world?
Veldora: I've never seen one before in my life!
Veldora: We have flying fish, yes, but a skyfaring bivalve? The very idea is absurd!
Veldora: I must have it! I need a taste!
Vyrn: Oh for the love of... Let's follow him, guys!
Veldora's Voice: Waaaaargh!
Lyria: Veldora!
The whole crew rush towards the source of the screams, bursting through a thicket to find their draconic companion.
Monster: ...
Veldora: What is this thing!
The dragon is rooted to the spot, gazing with sheer unbridled joy at the sweet, sugar-scented, cocoa-colored monster before him.
Wilnas: Oh, this is perfect! This beast will make fine candy for the people back in town!
Lyria: Ooh yes, I can practically taste the chocolate now!
Veldora: Oho, so this one is turned into confectionary? I believe I've seen something similar in one of my sacred texts...
  1. Let's get 'em!

Choose: Let's get 'em!
Veldora: Indeed!
Veldora: Grahahaha! Now this! This is the fantasy adventure I've always dreamed about!
Monster: ...!
Veldora: Over here!
Deepflight Oyster: ...?
Veldora: I don't even know what you are, but you're mine!
Custos Citrullus: ...!
Treemendous Jelly: ?
Veldora bounds this way and that, wielding fearsome might as he hunts down each of the tasty creatures.
Lyria: Wow... We've got so many different rare ingredients here!
Vyrn: This feels too good to be true... There's no good reason why so many of these guys would even be here!
Wilnas: Hmm... It's like our new friend's desire to see them is making them appear.
Lyria: Is that what Rimuru meant by him causing unexpected events?
Wilnas: I believe so. It's a very uncanny power—very similar to the singularity's, in fact.
Wilnas: Seems like he has the inherent power to keep winning big, even when the odds are vanishingly, infinitesimally small.
Vyrn: Man, wish we had that all the time... Well, at least we have it now, I guess.
Lyria: Yup! Without it, we'd probably be heading to the festival empty-handed!
Veldora: What are you all doing over there? Come and help me out!
(Captain) snaps to attention and sprints over to the dragon's aid. Soon, the crew have gathered so much food that they struggle to carry it all as they head back to town.

Of Storm Dragons and Food Festivals: Scene 4

Veldora channels his sacred teachings about cookery and becomes the star of the festival, helping the event become a resounding success. The crew finds Ewiyar and Ramiris fast asleep after all of their own hard work, and Veldora prepares a thank-you dish for them both.

Veldora: We're baaack! And do we have some food for you!
Town Elder: Goodness! Look, everyone! We should be more than able to hold the festival with all this!
Street Food Hawker: What fine pickings you've brought in! Why, there's so many kinds, everyone could make their own dishes, no problem!
Local Chef: This is fantastic! Are you really sure we can use all this rare stuff? Don't you want to sell it?
Veldora: No, my good fellow—it's yours! I impose but one condition: use it to make the best food you've ever made!
Local Chef: Th-thank you so, so much!
Vyrn: Forget the food, look at all this! We were only gone for a little bit, but this place has been entirely rebuilt!
Town Elder: Ramiris made the stalls for us exactly how we wanted them—and they're a breeze to use, too!
Town Elder: Give us just a little bit longer, and we should be ready for customers—I'll go greet them at the entrance!
Lyria: Good luck!
Veldora: Hm, strange for Ramiris to not be around when someone is singing her praises.
Vyrn: I also haven't seen Ewiyar anywhere. Wonder where they've both got to?
Vyrn: Huh? Can you smell burning?
Lyria: Oh no, is there a fire!
  1. It's coming from that cart there!

Choose: It's coming from that cart there!
(Captain) sprints over to the food cart and peeks inside.
Wilnas: Hmm... No, that's still not right at all...
There stands a downcast Wilnas in front of the remains of a thoroughly charred deepflight oyster.
Vyrn: Come on! You burned another one?
Wilnas: Truly unfortunate... I thought the shell would be thick enough that it wouldn't burn, but it seems I was wrong...
Wilnas: It gave its life to nourish another, and yet, all I could do is waste its gift. Truly unforgiveable...
Veldora: These deepflight oysters are quite the mighty mollusks, but even they can burn, you know.
Veldora: Why aren't you at least using a grill to cook them? Surely putting them directly on the fire is just asking for them to combust!
Wilnas: What's that? You don't just heat them up?
Veldora: All of the stalls come equipped with grills and hot plates! Come, watch me closely!
Veldora: First: you must keep the heat constant! Cooking larger food depends less on the temperature and more on the time it takes to cook!
Wilnas: Like this? I never would've thought such a tiny flame could cook much of anything!
Veldora: Your flames are much too powerful! When the recipe calls for high heat, you should be thinking of the tiniest flame you can muster.
Veldora: Now, just wait a little. See here? It's opened up a little bit. That's your signal that it's done!
Wilnas: Oh, what an absolutely wonderful smell!
Veldora: All you have to do now is slip a knife in the opening here, and... voila!
Lyria: Wooow! Cooked to perfection!
The deepflight oysters are cooked through, yet their flesh is still tender and moist.
  1. You're pretty good at this cooking thing.
  2. Those look great!

Choose: You're pretty good at this cooking thing.
Choose: Those look great!
Veldora: Naturally—cooking was the subject of many of Rimuru's sacred texts!
Veldora: I read countless tomes night after night, even forgoing sleep—and now dishes like these are child's play to me!
Lyria: These sacred texts... Are they really so interesting?
Veldora: Indeed! Enchanting writings borne with Rimuru from another world!
Lyria: I see! You must be quite the well-read dragon!
Vyrn: Huh, never thought you'd be the brainy type. Guess I underestimated ya!
Veldora: Gwah hah hah! Don't worry, I can understand why!
Said "sacred texts" are really various manga and comic books Rimuru had read before being reincarnated as a slime.
Since no one is present to point out that fact, the assertion of Veldora's profound reading material goes by unchallenged.
Veldora: Now, let's get the rest of these cooked up! Nothing makes a good festival quite like freshly fried food!
Wilnas: Yessir! Leave the grilling to me!
Lyria: This place is starting to fill up! Let's give them tons of yummy treats to eat!
Famished Customer: Sniff, sniff... Ooh, that delicious smell is a gut-punch and a half!
Lyria: We've taken the rarest ingredients, cooked them to absolute perfection, and created food that's to die for—just for you!
Famished Customer: Munch... Damn, that's good! No sauces or nothing, yet just a hint of salt, and it's smooth like butter... It's like drinking a milky sea!
Soon a large crowd is drawn to the stall, lured in by the smell and glowing word-of-mouth.
Veldora: This here is an... electric eal, was it? Usually you'd have these butterflied and broiled.
Wilnas: Exactly! I went through that fancy portal door over to Auguste and learned how to make the perfect sauce for them!
Veldora: Bravo! Gahaha, the smell of these will draw even more people in, no doubt!
Vyrn: Drool... Don't mind if I do!
Gourmand Guest: H-how in the world did they bring such authentic broiled eal all the way to our local festival?
Vyrn: Check it out! There's gotta be a hundred people here!
Veldora: Gah! Keep those eals coming as fast as you can!
Wilnas: Got it! Let's turn up the heat!
Lyria: I-I want to help out, too!
The stall is a blur of business as Veldora and Wilnas work at blistering speed to satisfy customer demand.
Finally, the tide of clamoring foodies begins to abate.
Rimuru: Oh, so this is where you got to! How're things going, Veldora?
Veldora: If it isn't my best of friends, Rimuru! You really came to see our stall!
Rimuru: Ewiyar-san invited me, actually. I thought I'd drop by and see how you all were handling things.
Shion: And we wanted to come, too!
Shuna: So many new and exciting foods... I want to memorize all of them for when we go back.
Milim: Bestie! Check out this awesome candy this stall has! It's totally scrumptious!
Benimaru: This stuff really is amazing! You've got to try some of these later, Rimuru—I'll get you some!
Ranga: This stall has meat so fresh it's basically dripping, Master! They seem to have exceptional cuts, especially for non-wolves!
Rimuru: I'm struggling to hear myself think.
Rimuru: How about you give us your finest dish, Veldora? Your stall seems to be the talk of the festival, after all, and I'm excited to try what you've managed to whip up.
Veldora: Absolutely! In fact, here's some hot off the grill, just for you! I've got more than enough for everyone!
Rimuru and the other off-worlders are soon each brandishing their own skewers, their eyes agog at the sheer deliciousness before them.
Rimuru: Whoa, how did you make this! The meat is tender and juicy; everything's been cooked to perfection—I've never tasted anything this good before!
Milim: Mm-mm-mmm! So goood! That crispy-crunchy outside and that perfectly juicy inside... Mwah!
Veldora: Grahahah! My grilling skills and Wilnas's flames make a formidable culinary pair!
Rimuru: I'll admit, when I heard you were making the food instead of just eating it, I had my doubts.
Rimuru: But you really seem to have gotten the hang of this!
Veldora: Indeed! We're friends to the end, aren't we? This is the least I could do for you!
Soei: L-Lord Rimuru.
Rimuru: Hm? Is something the matter? Do you want seconds, Soei-san?
Hakurou: You've got to stop her... Shion's out of control!
Looking back, Rimuru sees that Soei now has the divine fighter restrained as she brandishes a cleaver about wildly.
Shion: Lemme cook! I wanna make something awesome too! I'll make something that'll blow your mind too!
Rimuru: Shion-san, we've talked about this! Deep breaths, deeeep breaths!
As the day goes on, the festival proves to be a smash hit, with a little danger thrown in for some added spice.
Veldora and the crew's rescue of both the town and the festival is a triumph.
The night closes in, and soon the party is in full swing.
  1. Haven't we forgotten something?

Choose: Haven't we forgotten something?
Veldora: Hm? Now that you mention it, something does feel lacking...
As the dragon ponders, he spies a crowd gathered a short distance away.
Veldora: What's going on over there? Is there a new cart?
Lyria: Let's go take a look! Looks like it's pretty popular already—I wonder what yummy stuff they're making!
Parting the crowd, the crew discover that the source is, in fact, not a stall at all.
Ramiris: Snrr... Zzz...
Ewiyar: Snrk... snore...
There lie Ramiris and Ewiyar, both fast asleep and looking very snug as they curl up in one corner of a rest area.
Vyrn: H-how the heck did they manage to pass out there?
Gourmand Guest: Those two were running about like crazy people trying to outdo each other until just a little while ago... Seems like they zonked out.
Famished Customer: No wonder! They were going this way and that, building stalls, calling customers, and setting up all the cooking stuff!
Veldora: Yes, that sounds like the two of them, all right.
Gourmand Guest: Heh, look at them—snug as a bug in a rug.
The festivalgoers look on at their resting heroes, smiling and quietly expressing their appreciation for the pair's hard work.
Veldora: Looks like their bout ended in a draw, hm?
Veldora: No matter the victor, they've definitely reinvigorated the people's spirit! A flawless victory if ever I saw one.
Lyria: Right! Hehe, I could watch them be all snuggly and cute forever.
Veldora: Alas, we must return to our own stall!
Veldora: We will treat them to some eal as thanks for all their hard work when they both awake!
The festival draws to a close exactly how Veldora hoped it would—delicious smells, contented smiles, and full bellies.
When Ramiris and Ewiyar wake up later on, they immediately start a whole new contest: who can eat the most of their reward.
But that's a story for another time.
