Winter Duel Tournament - Opening

Beneath the cold winter sky, veteran skyfarers are gathered at the Jewel Resort Casino Liner for the opening of a special Christmas Eve duel. As Sierokarte and Ladiva introduce the event, Clarisse makes an explosive entrance, and things begin to heat up. Backstage, Rackam, Rosetta, Walder and the rest of the crew are raring to go.

Snowflakes dance faintly in the cold sky, and below, (Captain) and the crew are surrounded by a large crowd.
A ring of veteran skyfarers stand around the crew. As all eyes are fixed on them, Vyrn comments on the tense atmosphere.
Vyrn: Ugh… I wasn't expecting there to be so many people.
Rackam: Honestly, that Ladiva… What was he thinking, signing up for this thing?
Rosetta: Aw, it's fine, isn't it? The more eyes on us, the more exciting this is going to be, no?
Walder: Well said! Oh, and do you know what people call me when I'm wearing this special Christmas Eve costume?
Walder: That's right, the Ghillie Ranger! I, Walder?
Lyria: Oh, (Captain), look! It's starting!
Sierokarte: OK, everyone! Settle down!
Sierokarte: First of all, for this special Christmas Eve duel, we have two guest presenters taking over for Christina today!
Sierokarte: The lovely Sierokarte?that's me?aaaand…
Ladiva: Me, Ladiva, the Love Guru! Thank you so much for coming, my dears!
With the entrance of the star duelist, Ladiva, the crowd goes wild.
Lyria: Mr. Ladiva is so popular, isn't he?
Rackam: Wow, if he's this popular while he's taking a break, imagine how many fans he must have had at the peak of his career…
Sierokarte: OK, let's just talk a little about today's special duel, hosted by the Jewel Resort.
Ladiva: We've got one faaabulous explanation coming your way!
Sierokarte: In this special duel, rival teams of skyfarers will have to knock down a specific target to win points.
Sierokarte: And of course, the winning team will get a splendid trophy!
Ladiva: So if you want to witness the passionate clash of wills between rival duelists, you've come to the right place!
Ladiva: Take a peek, I promise you won't be disappointed, my darlings!
Sierokarte: OK, everyone! Take a look at the arena over to the right.
Snowman:
Sierokarte: And there it is, the target for today's duel?
???: Kaboom!
Sierokarte: What's this, everyone? The snowman target has exploded into a shower of snow!
???: Yoo-hoo!
???: Hee hee… This looks like quite the party you skyfarers are having.
Ladiva: Show yourself! I, the Love Guru, will show no mercy to those who dare interrupt this duel!
???: Heh… Bold words, Love Guru.
???: However! Your precious "love" will be blown away by the power of my alchemy!
Clarisse: There's only one person who deserves the trophy, one beautiful alchemist worthy of it, and that's me, Clarisse!
Sierokarte: Oh my, what's happening? The duel has been interrupted by an univited guest, declaring herself the winner!
Sierokarte: What will become of this special Christmas Eve duel?
Everyone: Woohoo!
With the opening ceremony for the Christmas Eve duel complete, (Captain) and the crew are celebrating a job well done.
Clarisse: How was I, (Captain)? Did I make a good villain?
Rosetta: Hee hee, you were adorable, my dear. Don't you agree, (Captain)?
Ladiva: Clarisse, darling, thank you so much. You did a fabulous job, and on such short notice, too. Were you nervous?
Clarisse: Not at all! In fact, I should be the one thanking you for this lovely outfit.
Ladiva: You're such a sweetheart. And with this, people are sure to be excited about the duel.
Sierokarte: The audience were really getting into it. Looks like this is going to be lots of fun for me, too.
Rackam: Well, we've worked up the crowd. Now it's our turn to get pumped and ready to go!
Walder: Hah! The Ghillie Ranger, at your service! I'm ready to spruce up this battlefield.
Vyrn: OK, it's now or never, (Captain). Let's show them what we're made of!
Lyria: Yeah, let's make this Christmas Eve count, (Captain)!

Winter Duel Tournament - Ending

With the Christmas Eve duel finished, (Captain) and the crew retire to an inn to celebrate. In high spirits, they discuss the day's events, and eventually set off home to the Grandcypher. Back at the ship, they find a pile of presents on the deck, and hear a jolly laugh as a red sleigh crosses the night sky.

Clarisse: Phew, I'm beat… Great job, everyone!
With the Christmas Eve duel finished, (Captain) and the crew retire to an inn to celebrate.
Clarisse: Between the giant and the dragon, things got a bit hairy back there, but we made it!
Ladiva: That's right! And Christina will be delighted with all the business we brought in.
Rackam: I feel like Christmas Eve should be something to enjoy quietly…
Rackam: But I guess in the end, this wasn't a bad way to spend the holiday.
Rosetta: Joy comes in many forms. As long as you're having a good time, that's the only thing that matters.
Rosetta: It's a special day, after all. It would be a waste to take things too seriously and forget to have fun.
Walder: Ah, but the greatest gift this Christmas Eve was surely the unforgettable sight of this gallant Ghillie Ranger!
Walder: Ooh, I've got an idea! From this day forth, I shall be known as… the Festive Ranger! Yes, Walder the?
Clarisse: Hey, (Captain)! You had fun too, right?
  1. I had a great time
  2. It was over too soon

Choose: I had a great time
Clarisse: You did? Aww, I'm so glad!
Clarisse: To be honest, I was worrying a little about whether you enjoyed it.

Choose: It was over too soon
Clarisse: Aww, really? But I tried so hard to put on a great show…
Ladiva: Don't worry, sweetie!
Ladiva: (Captain) just means it was so fun, they never wanted it to end, right?
Continue 1
Vyrn: Ha ha! Well, it sounds like you enjoyed yourself, (Captain).
Lyria: Oh, it was so much fun, wasn't it? I had a good time, too!
Ladiva: Well, the audience enjoyed themselves, and so did all of you. Truly, this has been a fabulous Christmas Eve!
With the celebrations over and the crew in high spirits, they set off back to the Grandcypher.
Lyria: Doesn't the night sky look wonderful?
Clarisse: Hey, do you think we'll see Santa Claus flying past tonight?
Clarisse: I'd really love to take a ride in that flying sleigh someday…
Vyrn: It would be nice, but what are the chances of that happening?
The crew gaze up into the night sky. As the atmosphere grows sombre, Ladiva suddenly speaks up.
Ladiva: Clarisse, sweetie? Thank you so much for your help with the duel. I really, truly appreciate everything you did.
Clarisse: Hmm? It was no trouble at all. What's wrong? You've turned serious all of a sudden.
Ladiva: Oh, well, actually…
Ladiva explains that the children from the orphanage he grew up in had come to see the duel.
Ladiva: Those kids really had a fabulous time. I'm so glad we could give them such a wonderful present…
Clarisse: Aw, come on, don't get all weepy on me.
Clarisse: Besides, you put on a great show yourself! It was your hard work that put those smiles on their faces.
Clarisse: And the rest of you, too! It may be cold, but we all came together and put on a red-hot show!
Clarisse: In fact, after all that work, I think we all deserve presents!
Ladiva: Tee hee, you're right! The Love Guru shouldn't be crying on a night like this.
Ladiva: But if you'll let me get one last word in before I stop gabbing… Thank you, everyone. Thank you so much.
While talking, (Captain) and the crew arrive back at the Grandcypher.
As they do, they spot a strange heap of parcels on the deck.
Vyrn: Huh? What's all this? Hey, who left all this stuff here?
Lyria: I don't know, but it looks like… presents?
Clarisse: Presents? Hey, do you think maybe it was…
Without thinking, the crew look up and spot a tiny shadow crossing the sky, leaving a glittering trail in its wake.
Ladiva: Hee hee, I think you're right, darling.
The red, reindeer-led sleigh slowly crosses the twinkling night sky.
At that moment, the crew hear Santa Claus' jolly laughter ring out across the sky.

Winter Duel Tournament - Preparations

Rosetta: Today is the opening round of a very special dueling event. Are you properly prepared?
Rosetta: You can't afford to neglect your preparations. In anything you do, preparation and practice are key.
Rosetta: If you panic in the heat of battle, you'll disappoint both your opponent and yourself.
Rosetta: A single moment happens only once. The same opportunity will never come again, so you must treat every occasion as the last.
Rosetta: Please, let me help you get ready. Once you're prepared, let us begin our battle.

Winter Duel Tournament - Preparations: Scene 2

Rosetta: When you think of Christmas, you think of presents, right? Is there something you would like, (Captain)?
Rosetta: Hmm? Can't you make up your mind? Or is it more that nothing comes to mind at all?
Rosetta: Well, I've already made up my mind what I want.
Rosetta: So then, will you accept this present from me at least?
Rosetta: Hee hee, you look so happy. (Captain), your happy face is the best present I could ever wish for.
The present from Rosetta glimmers a brilliant red. It is a broach in the shape of a rose.

Walder: …Except the thing is, the town was really crowded with people cos it's Christmas eve…
Walder: So in the end, I wasn't really able to get you anything great… I wonder if it'll do anyway?

Ladiva: But of course, darling! Here you go!
Clarisse: Thanks! You really do make the best coffee around.
Ladiva: Well, I do add a little secret ingredient to help with relaxation. A sprinkle of cinnamon works wonders in coffee!
Ladiva: Oh, speaking of cinnamon, I brought some homemade cinnamon cookies along! They should help pep you sweeties right up!
Ladiva: By the way, don't you have to fight some kind of giant soon, as well as a bunch of snowmen? Be sure to rest up properly, my dears.
Clarisse: Hm? Oh, is that the play the Jewel Resort Casino Liner is putting on?
Ladiva: I don't think so, honey. Christina doesn't seem to know anything about it, at least.
Ladiva: Anyway, you be careful, (Captain). And you too, Clarisse, sweetie!
Clarisse: I'll be just fine, don't you worry! I'm ready for anything they can throw at me!

Winter Duel Tournament - Holiday Tidings

Clarisse: Oh! But I have prepared a present for you actually!
Clarisse: Here ya go! Please, take it!
Clarisse: I guess today I'll just be Santa Clarisse for you, (Captain).
The present from Clarisse is one of her favorite picture books.

Winter Duel Tournament - Straight Path, Wavering Resolution

Rackam: I wasn't sure at first, but now it's started, this event ain't half bad!
Rackam: Guess I oughta thank Ladiva for the invite.
Rackam: What? Why was I shakin' like a leaf before the event started?
Rackam: Hey, can it, buddy! Ain't no need to bring that up!
Rackam: Hm? I'm blushing? Seriously, cut it with the commentary! C'mon, let's start already, before you say anythin' else embarrassing.

Rackam: Here, take it. And don't tell the others, got it?
Rackam: This is something I prepared specially for you, captain.
Rackam: Even though you're still a kid, you've been working hard as captain. I guess it won't hurt to treat you this once.

Winter Duel Tournament - A Friend's Farewell

Ladiva: We're nearing the climax of the event! Isn't that exciting, darlings? Still, it's sad that such a fabulous thing has to end.
Ladiva: But I suppose with every ending comes a new beginning to look forward to!
Ladiva: So I won't be saying goodbye to my dear customers after the event. No, it'll just be "see you again soon!" as always.
Ladiva: That way, we can all look forward to meeting again at the next big event!
Ladiva: As long as my darling customers know that I'll be thinking of them even after the event finishes, that's all that matters!
Ladiva: Anyway, (Captain). You make sure to give your all right up to the very end, 'K sweetie? I'll be rooting for you!

Winter Duel Tournament - A Friend's Farewell: Scene 2

Ladiva: Tee hee… Everyone should feel fabulous on Christmas Eve!

Ladiva: That's why everyone gets together and enjoys eating delicious food together at Christmas.
Ladiva: Tee hee, are you hungry, my dear? Just hold on a little longer. I've got something really scrumptious ready for you!
Ladiva: But, before we eat… Here, have this, sweetie!
Ladiva: This is a Christmas present from me… to you! My, my, you don't need to thank me now.
Ladiva: Oh, picking out presents for the fabulous people around me is so much fun. Really, it's me who should be thanking you!
The present from Ladiva is a homemade cookie, filled with love.

Winter Duel Tournament - To the Duels!

Sierokarte: Welcome one and all to the last day of this wonderful event! I hope you're all as excited as I am!
Ladiva: All these lovely spectators are expecting a simply fabulous show, so it would be just dreadful to disappoint them!

Walder: Hah! Well, get ready to have your minds blown, folks! The great ghillie ranger, Walder, is here to steal the show!
Clarisse: All right, time for the big finale! I'm going to light the whole place up. Time to raise the roof!

Vyrn: Looks like there's even gonna be dragons on top of all those weird giants! Still, there's nothing we can't handle, right?
Rackam: Heh, you got that right! Time to get this party started!
Vyrn: Let's go, (Captain)!
