The objective of this page is to cover the terms and liabilities for user guides hosted on gbf.wiki. This page will not cover how to make a guide (i.e., teaching wiki syntax, utilizing wiki templates, etc). For a short overview on guide making, see User:Midokuni/Notepad/GuideMaking.

Understanding "Main Wiki Space" vs. "User Space"

Main wiki space guides

These are official guides "by the wiki" even if they usually have a maintainer. As the guide may have to be maintained if the original maintainer leaves, the topics they cover should keep this in mind and collaborative editing of the page should be encouraged. A good sample of what we mean with a "main wiki space guide" is the Bonus Damage page.

These pages must use "Neutral point of view" (wiki voice) and follow the general style of the rest of the wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view

Only use templates from the Templates namespace.

Maintainers are generally free to produce these pages but have no ownership of the page. Thus, the content produced can be freely edited and transformed by other users and may come under scrutiny by the admins.

User space guides

These are user guides by a specific user. This means they're the sole maintainer and in general others should ask for permission before editing the guide unless it's to fix an error or a minor mistake. The user has final say over the content of the guide.

User guides are allowed cover any GBF related topic (within the gbf.wiki rules) and can have personal opinions, biases, and so on but must still live up to the ideal of the wiki to be a positive place where people can learn and improve.

User templates are allowed in these guides and encouraged. Good user templates may be converted to official templates.

If a template from the Template namespace is used and it breaks, ideally the user or other users will edit the guide to fix.

Disagreeing with advice provided elsewhere is fine, but should be done in a positive and constructive manner.

Derogatory content is strictly forbidden.

User Guide Guidelines

Adding your guide to the index

Instructions and explanation of parameters are found in Template:Guide. Please place the template at the top or bottom of your page. Note that your guide should be considered "complete" before adding the template.

Other users should not add Template:Guide to pages unless the author gives permission. Guides is intended to be opt-in only.

Search Filter

Note that the guide search filter will not automatically handle interchangeable terms. For example, if "omega" is entered as a search term, it will not display guides that only use the term "magna". To ensure that your guide can be properly found with the filter, your |description= argument should take into account both official and unofficial terminology.

Images for user pages

You may upload images to use in your guide, but should be done under the following rules:

  • You may not reupload fanart onto the wiki unless the artist explicitly allows redistribution. Any artist redistribution terms must be explicitly displayed.
  • NSFW images are not allowed.
  • Uploading official Granblue Fantasy art is allowed whether it is edited or unedited. However, if it is edited, please see #File names for user pages
  • You may use images that are used by main wiki pages on your own page, such as icons and art.

File names for user pages

  • File names should not conflict with files used on the main wiki space. Additionally, user files should never overwrite existing main wiki files.
  • When uploading files for your user page, your username must be prefixed in the file name.
    • For example, fire_grid.png has a high probability of having a naming conflict. To avoid potential conflicts, upload the file as USERNAME_fire_grid.png.
    • Prefixing your username to the file also easily attributes who the file belongs to.

User templates

  • The "User" namespace allows user pages to be utilized as Templates without needing it to be created in the Template namespace.
    • For example, User:YourUserName/Template:WeaponGrid can be called with standard Template syntax and arguments. {{User:YourUserName/Template:WeaponGrid}}
  • If you want to create a template that is intended to be used outside of your own user space, then you may create the template in the Template namespace directly.

External guides

This refers to both user guides and guides not hosted on the wiki, such as Google Docs, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

External guides must follow the same guidelines as guides hosted on the wiki unless there are explicit exceptions.

Linking to social media

Linking to personal social media accounts (e.g., Twitter, Reddit, etc.) is allowed on user pages, including user guides. However, admins reserve the right to remove social media links if they promote derogatory content.

Soliciting for money

Soliciting for money, such as through the premise of "donations", is not allowed on user pages and user guides hosted on this wiki. You may do so on any external site you can link to (e.g., social media), but you may not solicit on any wiki-hosted pages.

FAQ

What kind of pages are allowed on Guides?

If the guide is relevant to Granblue Fantasy, then it is generally allowed. This includes gameplay guides, lore, and miscellaneous archives.

What kind of pages are not allowed on Guides?

This list is non-exhaustive.

  • Pages with intentionally misleading information
  • Incomplete guides
  • Pages that are still in a "draft" or "outline" stage of writing
  • Pages that contain offensive, derogatory, and/or disparaging content
  • Plagiarized content (Reminder: Provide sources and citations when applicable)

Can users who are not the author add a page to Guides?

In general, other people should not add Template:Guide to pages unless the author gives explicit consent. Guides is intended to be opt-in only.

Guide authors may request help from admins or others if they are having trouble adding Template:Guide to their page.

What happens to outdated guides?

If a guide is considered "outdated" by community standards, then it will be removed from the Guides index until it is updated. The guide itself will not be deleted, but a disclaimer may be placed at the top of the guide stating that it is outdated.

Can other people edit my guide?

Guide collaborators are allowed. If special page protections are needed, please contact a wiki admin.

Where can other users leave comments on my guide?

All pages on the wiki, including User pages, have a "Discussion" tab located at the top of the page. You may direct users to these pages or your own user talk page located at User_talk:YOURUSERNAME.

All users are expected to be civil when communicating with each other on discussion pages. If another user is not civil, please report it to wiki admins.

My guide has multiple pages. Do I put Template:Guide on every page?

No. If a guide utilizes multiple pages for the same topic, then Template:Guide should only go on the "main" or "first" page of the guide.

However, if you have multiple guides that cover different topics, then each page would warrant their own Template:Guide with their own respective description.
