Paliuli Pararaiha - Opening
A small group gathers in secrecy to discuss their grievances over what's become of their village. The one who appears to be their leader is plotting an "auhuli."
On a night so still that not even the chirping of crickets can be heard, a shady group assembles in a dimly lit meeting room.
One among them shakes her fists as she raises her voice.
Masked Figure 1: Enough is enough! We cannot allow her tyranny to go on any longer!
Masked Figure 2: Her recent actions have been especially questionable. I cannot imagine why she would have us separate from our partners in war.
Masked Figure 1: It's time we took things into our own hands!
Masked Figure 3: But at the same time, we cannot deny that she's done much for the village, bringing us prosperity and wealth. What say we take a wait-and-see approach?
Masked Figure 1: She's done far more bad than good! Leaving her to her whims would be our downfall!
Masked Figure 1: I will not stand idly by and watch as this madness continues!
Masked Figure 1: Everything she's done has been an insult to our culture, heritage, and history! Tell me I'm wrong!
Leader-like Woman: Calm yourself.
Masked Figure 1: Yes... Forgive me.
Leader-like Woman: You've made your point.
Leader-like Woman: It goes without saying that there's only one appropriate course of action.
Masked Figures: ...!
Masked Figure 3: Wait, you don't mean auhuli?
Masked Figure 1: Even for you, that would be no easy feat.
Leader-like Woman: Worry not. Leave everything to me.
Paliuli Pararaiha - Chapter 1: Haere Mai ki Kahua - Episode 1
Nemone and Melleau inform (Captain) that they'll be returning to their home of Kahua to see their sister, who—according to a letter—has fallen. (Captain) is startled to hear that Kahuans are a barbaric, warmongering people, with no men among their ranks; (Captain) decides to go with them nonetheless.
(Captain) and company go up to the Grandcypher's deck at an appointed time.
They peek their heads out to find two girls waving at them.
Nemone is a crew member
Nemone: There you are! I waited so long, I could be a grandma by now!
Nemone not in crew
Nemone: There you are! I waited so long, I could be a grandma by now!
Happy-go-lucky Nemone.
The crew previously met her in their travels.
Nemone: Hey, long time no see! Look how big you've gotten! Wait... who are you?
Vyrn: Jeez, are you always this cozy with people you've never met?
Nemone: Oh, heehee, I get it.
Though (Captain) and company often find themselves at the mercy of her whimsical nature, they are also drawn to her mysterious charm.
She believes that traveling with (Captain) will help expedite her search for her little sister.
Nemone: Hello there, you must be quite the charismatic captain to bring all these people around you.
Nemone: We've met before, haven't we? Maybe this is fate, hm? I haven't made it very far all by my lonesome...
Nemone: That's why I should come with you! If I traveled on your ship I'm sure I'd find my dear little sister in no time!
Nemone: Well then, sounds like you've come to a decision! Can I come with you?
Vyrn: Jeez, you aren't afraid of influencing the decision are you? Sure, you can come.
And that is how Nemone came to join the crew.

The listless girl Melleau and her pet beast, Sachy.
The crew met her during their travels and learned she is Nemone's younger sister.
Melleau: Have you guys been checking me out?
Melleau: Is it love at first sight? Or are you more interested in Sachy? That's it, isn't it?
Sachy: ...
Vyrn: Wh-what is that thing?
Melleau: Whoa, the lizard can talk. A red lizard and a blue girl... How about that. Hey, you in the middle. What color are you supposed to be?
Melleau: Sniff, sniff... Not sure about your color, but you sure smell delicious...
While monkeying around with the crew, a monster suddenly attacks.
(Captain) fells the monster, saving her.
Melleau: I...
Melleau: I think I'm in love.
Charmed by (Captain)'s heroism, Melleau decides to join the crew.
Melleau: And that's that. Sachy and I look forward to traveling with you.

Nemone: I know it might not be obvious, but deep down Melleau loves me sooo—

Rackam: Haha... So what's up, you two? It's not often you call us out here for a meeting.
Nemone: Oh, right, right! We have a huge announcement to make today!
Lyria: You mean you have a surprise for us?
Melleau: Mm, you could say that.
Vyrn: C'mon now, stop keepin' us in suspense and get to the point already.
Nemone: Dun-dun-dah!
Lyria: Dun-dun-dah! I can't wait!
Nemone: ...

Rackam: Wait, what?
Melleau: We called you up here to say goodbye. This'll be our last day together.

Lyria: Why! Why do we have to say goodbye?
Nemone: Oh, right. We haven't exactly explained ourselves, have we.
Melleau: Here, this should give you all the answers you need.
Melleau hands over a letter from an unknown sender.
The others open it up to find a very brief message.
Letter: "Queen Felluca has fallen. Please return at once."
Vyrn: Felluca? Who's that?
Melleau: Lulu is Lulu. She's our big sis.
The mention of Felluca has (Captain) recalling the moment that the sisters were first reunited.
Melleau acts coldly toward Nemone despite their long-awaited reunion.
Curiosity piqued, (Captain) asks Melleau about it.
She reveals something that had gone down in their village.
Melleau: Well, you see... Nemone did something that no one should ever do.
Nemone: Oh! Y-you still remember that?
Melleau: Sigh. Lulu would cry if she was here. Oh, Lulu...
Left behind in the conversation, (Captain) asks for more details.
Nemone gladly obliges.
She tells of a tournament held in their homeland, the winner of which is declared queen.
Melleau and Nemone were both to take part in the tournament. But Nemone chose not to participate, thus giving up her chance for the throne.
Melleau went on to win the tournament and became queen.
Melleau: But I quit pretty much right after that... I just wasn't cut out for all that queen business. Lulu ended up taking my place.
Nemone: Lulu's our big sister! Her real name's Felula Palu Rangluca.
Melleau: Don't believe a word of that, (Captain). Her name's Felluca. Lulu for short. Pretty cute name, right?
The two continue on.
Melleau explains that their relationship fell apart because Nemone quietly plotted for Felluca to become queen.
Melleau considered Felluca to be weak and could not understand why Nemone would prop her up.
But Nemone asserts that Felluca is in fact very strong.
Melleau: Oh. You mean like the time she fainted at the sight of Sachy? Or maybe when she burst into tears because she slipped and fell? Yeah, real tough.
Nemone: I see you have your doubts, little sister, but realize this: strength can come in many forms.
Nemone explains that Lulu, serving as the previous queen's advisor, was able to put an end to war.
Believing that Felluca could bring peace to the village, Nemone took steps to ensure her position as queen.
Vyrn: Oh yeah. There were three of you.
Nemone: That's right! We have a precious big sister!
Melleau: We wanted to set out right away, but figured it wouldn't be right to leave without saying goodbye first.
Rackam: The letter about your sister having fallen sounds pretty serious.
Rackam: I get the rush, but does it really call for this?
Lyria: Yeah! There's no reason to say goodbye!
Lyria: Because we can go see your sister together!
Melleau: Hm. Hmmm...
Nemone: Er... I'm not sure that's the best idea.
Rackam: Stop waltzing around. Just tell us what the deal is.
Nemone: You see, our homeland...
Nemone: It's called Kahua, by the way...
Lyria: Ka-hu-a?
Rackam: Kahua, Kahua...
Rackam: Ah!
Rackam: I thought I'd heard of that place before!
Vyrn: You know something, Rackam?
Rackam: Just rumors. But it was all so far-fetched that I brushed it off as idle gossip.
Rackam: But if it is true, we've got a dicey situation on our hands.
Nemone: Um... Ahaha...
Lyria: Rackam, what do those rumors say?
Rackam: For starters, Kahua's a village on an island far to the south.
Rackam: Only women live there. Or rather, women are the only ones to be born there.
Lyria: A village with women only? Hm, that does sound strange.
Vyrn: Weird, maybe. But I don't see how that's dicey.
Rackam: There's more. I'm just getting to the juicy part.
Rackam: Every one of Kahua's women is a savage brute, possessing unparalleled strength.
Rackam: They love to pillage and murder, constantly clamoring for war and indiscriminately attacking neighboring island nations.
Lyria: Pillage and murder other nations? That sounds really awful...
Rackam: They hang their bloodstained weapons and the heads of enemy soldiers in the village for all to see.
Lyria: Eep...
Rackam: They're a warmongering tribe that rides around on carnivorous beasts.
Vyrn: Carnivorous beasts used for war? I don't like the sound of that!
Rackam: Like I said, just rumors.
Melleau: You know, that's actually really spot-on.
Rackam: Tell me you're kidding...
Melleau: Except the part about carnivorous beasts.
Melleau: Our war mounts are called kahua taika. Cute name, don't you think?
Melleau: They're friends of me and Sachy. Isn't that right, Sachy?
Sachy: ...
Melleau is a crew member
(Captain) recalls their first encounter with Melleau.
Melleau: That said, I actually came from a clan known more for gutting people than greeting them.
(Captain) speaks up.
Choose: Yeah, you did mention that...
Melleau: Aw, you remembered. Haha, how sweet.
Vyrn: I can't believe you two come from such a crazy place!
Melleau: Hey, calling our home crazy is just rude.
Vyrn: Er, sorry, didn't mean it that way. I'm still tryin' to take this all in...
Nemone: Anyone would be surprised. I'd be too if I wasn't from there.
Rackam: Explains why you've kept quiet about it this whole time. Then again, not like you had a reason to open up about it.
Melleau: Now you know why you shouldn't come with us. You could lose a hand or two.
Choose: Nope, we're coming along.
Nemone: No way, you can't be serious. Did you hear a word my best bud Racky said?
Nemone: Hey, that's the first time I've ever called someone my best bud! Or Racky!
Rackam: Our happy-go-lucky friend's right. I hate to say this in front of them, but Kahua's a place we're better off not setting foot in.
Rackam: It's far too risky just to pay a visit.
Choose: Nemone and Melleau don't scare me a bit.
Lyria: Yeah, just look at how kind and gentle the two of them are!
Nemone: Oho, so you noticed we wouldn't harm a hair on anyone's head... How observant.
Melleau: We could be hiding it, you know? Meow, prepare to be eaten.
Nemone: Let me do it too! Meow!
Rackam: Yeah, these two couldn't be further from the rumors. But is it really safe to assume it's the same for everyone else in the village?
Rackam: It pays to be cautious, (Captain). We'd better think this through.
(Captain) smiles, asserting that Nemone and Melleau will protect them should anything happen.
Nemone: Wow. That's an overwhelming amount of trust in us...
Choose: Nemone and Melleau will keep us safe.
Vyrn: Yeah, I suppose we'll be safe as long as we stick to 'em like glue...
Vyrn: Right, ladies?
Nemone: Even someone as impossibly wise as me can't give you a guarantee...
Nemone: But I promise we won't betray your overwhelming trust in us, (Captain)!

Melleau: Nemone's the strongest in Kahua. No one's going to give us trouble if she's with us. Probably.
Nemone: Now, now, what're you praising me for? You're the one who was once called a child prodigy, Miss Former Queen!
Melleau: Sachy.
Nemone: Sorry!
Nemone: All right, that settles it! You're gonna be safe no matter what happens!
Nemone: Cause Melleau will protect you!
Melleau: Sachy.
Sachy: ...
Nemone: Sorry! Ow, Sachy! I think your claws are digging into my ribs!
Nemone: I get the point, okay? I-I'll be sure to keep you all safe too!
Rackam: Looks like your mind's made up, (Captain)... Guess I might as well prepare myself for the worst.

Rackam: Still doesn't make me feel any safer though! My life could be in danger!
Nemone: You're gonna have to disguise yourself as a girl!

Paliuli Pararaiha - Chapter 1: Haere Mai ki Kahua - Episode 2
On the way to Kahua, (Captain) learns about traditional Kahuan things like the haere mai greeting and the pungent miraka kikini recipe. The captain also learns about Felluca, older sister to Nemone and Melleau; she is rather timid and tends to cry a lot, qualities considered rare among Kahuans.
The crew sets a course for Kahua, with Melleau and Nemone leading the way.
During the flight there, Nemone, feeling bored, starts pestering her little sister.
Nemone: Hey, little Sis! How about we do that special thing we do in Kahua? C'mon, I'm ready for you!
Melleau: Meh.
Nemone: Sniff... I'm getting dangerously accustomed to your ruthless coldheartedness...
Nemone: Just imagine how sad Lulu would be if she knew.
Melleau: I'd do it with Lulu, but not you.
Nemone: Waaah! (Captain)! Melleau's given me so many cold shoulders today that I feel like a polar bear in a freezer!
Nemone: I'll just have to do it to (Captain) instead!
Choose: Do what?
Nemone: This!
Nemone: Haere mai!
Choose: Urk!
(Captain) lets out a squeal as Nemone presses the tip of her nose against the captain's.
Rackam: Pfft! What's goin' on here!
Lyria: Huh? N-Nemone!
Melleau: My turn. Here, (Captain).
Melleau, not wanting to be left out, does the same to (Captain)'s nose.
Lyria: You too, Melleau? What's going on!
Nemone: Nyehehe! No need to be so surprised! Haere mai to you too, Lyria!
Lyria: Eep!
Vyrn: How 'bout you explain yourselves before you do any more nose-bumping!
Melleau: Ahaha, it's a traditional greeting back in Kahua.
Lyria: A greeting? So that's what it is...
Vyrn: Strange. I've never seen you two do it before.
Nemone: We didn't want to shock you right off the bat, y'know?
Vyrn: Fair enough...
Nemone: Besides, it's more of a village thing! I hope you'll be ready for lots of nose-bumping when we touch down.
Melleau: Best get used to it now.
Nemone: You want to try too, Racky? C'mon, it'll be so much fun!
Rackam: Er! Ah, ahem! I think I'll pass!
Vyrn: Ahaha. Didn't think you were the bashful type, Rackam.
Rackam: Bashful? Pretty sure most people would respond the same way!
Nemone: Aw, what an adorable reaction. Reminds me of Lulu when she was still a kid.
Melleau: She was so shy, she used to balk at doing this greeting.
Rackam: Yeah? And here I thought everyone in Kahua was a bona fide lover of nose-bumping.
Nemone: Actually, only Lulu was like that.
Lyria: Oh really?
Nemone: She's a bit different from the average Kahuan—from her personal values to the way she thinks.
Melleau: She's awfully timid and can be a real crybaby despite being Kahuan herself.
Melleau: She'd come over for a hug while crying. Some days she'd be griping about stuff while crying. Other days she'd be running off somewhere while crying.
Vyrn: That's a lot of cryin'.
Nemone: You could almost say she's made of half-sweetheart and half-crybaby.
Nemone: It got really bad the first time we all got together to eat some miraka kikini.
Vyrn: Mira-what? It's some kinda food, I take it?
Melleau: It's a traditional Kahuan stew, made from the milk of our mounts—kahua taika.
Lyria: Did you say stew? I love stew!
Nemone: Nyehehe. Think you can handle it, Lyria?
Lyria: Huh? What do you mean?
Melleau: You'd be surprised. Lulu was knocked out cold after a single sip the first time she tried it.
Vyrn: That bad, huh?
Nemone: No, not exactly. It just has a really strong beastly odor.
Nemone: It can also be awfully sticky. And the spice that's meant to counteract the beastly flavor is so spicy that it can play with your sense of taste.
Rackam: Not exactly my idea of an appetizing stew...
Melleau: I know it's not so obvious, but taking in the experience is all part of the fun.
Melleau: Lulu eventually grew to love the taste. She'd weep the entire time while drinking the stew.
Vyrn: You sure she wasn't weeping 'cause it's just that bad?
Nemone: "Ngh... Nemoneee! You have to eat this for me!" she'd say to me while letting her tears flow.
Vyrn: Bingo. I was right after all.
Vyrn: And boy does she cry a lot.
Melleau: Haha. It's part of her charm if you ask me.
Nemone: Oh, my adorable, luvvy-wuvvy Lulu!
Rackam: I thought you Kahuans were supposed to be barbaric, but the more I hear about your big sis, the more I'm gettin' away from that idea.
Lyria: Haha, how cute. I can't wait to meet her in person!
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Paliuli Pararaiha - Chapter 1: Haere Mai ki Kahua - Episode 3
The crew arrives in Kahua and finds it to be a very beautiful and modern place with well-mannered villagers, far from the savage image that had been painted for (Captain) earlier. As Melleau and Nemone are confused by what's become of their homeland, the Kahuan queen Felluca shows up.
Nemone: Almost there! Just straight ahead now!
Melleau: This brings back memories. I hope the kahua taika are okay.
Melleau: Sachy's been looking forward to seeing everyone again too.
Sachy: ...
In marked contrast to the nostalgia the sisters are feeling, the rest of the crew remains on high alert.
Rackam: Finally here, eh? Stay on the alert, everyone.
Nemone: Oh, it'll be fine! Me and Melleau will keep you guys safe. Probably.
Melleau: Mm-hm. Maybe. If we feel like it.
Vyrn: Not exactly the most reassuring way to put it...
Lyria: Ahaha...
The carefree sisters guide the others along the path.
After some time, they reach a village that appears to be Kahua.
Nemone: ...
Melleau: ...
Lyria: Is this... Kahua?
Vyrn: I don't see any bloodstained weapons or heads on display. No wild beasts either.
Vyrn: Just your typical pretty town! What was that whole story about, Rackam!
Rackam: Hey, don't ask me! I was expecting something a little creepier myself!
An elegant carriage passes by the puzzled crew. A fancy speedship—one of the newest models—then whizzes past them.
A closer look reveals many traditional-looking huts along with more modern houses constructed from white bricks.
Far from the barbaric village they had envisioned, what lies before them more closely resembles a beautiful town undergoing rapid development.
Nemone: Wha? Er...
Melleau: I can't believe what we're seeing. Is this really Kahua?
Kahuan 1: That voice...
Kahuan 2: I knew it! Lady Melleau and Lady Nemone! Welcome back!
Kahuan 1: You've returned!
Nemone: Hey, hey! Long time no see!
Kahuan 1: As carefree as ever, I see! How could you two just run off like that!
Nemone: Sorry, stuff happened. More importantly, haere mai, haere mai!
Nemone extends both arms and approaches the villagers.
However, she backs off in response.
Kahuan 1: No, Lady Nemone.
Nemone: Huh? What's wrong?
Kahuan 2: That's too old-fashioned and unsanitary.
Nemone: Gwuh... I can't believe she just called me old and dirty! What a shocker!
Lyria: Isn't haere mai supposed to be the traditional greeting here?
Vyrn: Don't tell us you just made it up for fun.
Nemone: Nuh-uh-uh! I'm telling you—it's the real deal!
Vyrn: Why the rejection then?
Nemone: Wish I could tell you. The powwow happening in my head right now is getting pretty chaotic...
Kahuan 1: Lady Nemone, who are they? Kanaka'e, perhaps?
Kahuan 2: Kanaka'e! They have men too...

Rackam: Was all that talk about the local traditions and customs just stuff you made up on a whim?
Nemone: I'd never do such a thing! You should know I'm famous for telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! They don't call me Honest Nemone for nothing!
Vyrn: Gee, talk about a convincing argument...
Nemone: Everything I said about Kahua was truer than true! I'm just as surprised as you are to see what's going on here!
Melleau: Huh?
Melleau: Hey, where can I find Sachy's friends?
Kahuan 1: Er, well...
Melleau: Hm?
Noticing the two waver in their response, a third woman comes forward.
Felluca: Um... Is everything okay? There's no problem, is there?
Kahuan 1: No, not at all! We were just showing these kanaka'e around, Ali'i.
Nemone: Ali'i? Don't tell me...
Felluca: I know that voice...
Felluca: Ah!
Melleau: Whee, it's Lulu!
Felluca: Mell, Nemo...
Paliuli Pararaiha - Chapter 1: Haere Mai ki Kahua - Episode 4
Felluca is the picture of health and doesn't know anything about a letter. She breaks into an angry yet tearful tirade at her sisters, then takes off. Makakiu, the queen's aide, is left to explain the situation to the crew.
Felluca: Mell, Nemo, it's really you...
Lyria: So this is Felluca... Didn't the letter say she took a hard fall?
Felluca: Sniff...
Vyrn: Haha—she's so happy, she's cryin'! Guess that part was true.
Felluca: I am not happy!
Lyria: Eek!
Felluca: Sniff... After all that's happened, what did you two come back for anyway?
Nemone: We flew back on the double at full speed and then some as soon as we heard you were hurt!
Felluca: Me? Hurt?
Melleau: Turns out Lulu's the picture of health. What was that letter all about then?
Felluca: What letter? You have me completely lost.
Felluca: Can I get a straight answer already with just the facts?
Felluca: Sniff... Why is it always so hard...
Nemone: Like I said, we were worried about you...
Felluca: Worried? Now that has to be a lie...
Nemone: Lulu?
Felluca: If you were really worried, you would've come back sooner!

Her eyes tearing up, she turns on her heels and scurries off.
Rackam: Hey, wait up! Hear us out, miss!
Vyrn: Geez, what's with the attitude! That's some way to greet your sisters, huh...

A large figure approaches the crew from behind.
They turn around to find a stalwart old lady.
Makakiu: My, my, what a situation this has turned into.
Vyrn: Holy moly! This is one buff granny!
Lyria: Vyrn! What a rude thing to say!
Lyria: B-but you might be right...
Melleau: Nana... You're here.
Makakiu: It's been a long time, Lady Melleau, Lady Nemone.

At a restaurant, Makakiu explains to the crew that Felluca was angry at her sisters for leaving Kahua after putting her in the role of queen. Nemone thought Felluca would make a fine queen, but Felluca hates it. The two younger sisters, feeling sorry, agree to go apologize to Felluca later.
Makakiu brings the crew to a restaurant in the village.
As they take their seats, Makakiu bows her head.
Makakiu: I'd like to start by apologizing for the ali'i's discourteous behavior.
Makakiu: Surely that can't be the right way to treat guests who've come so far to see us.
Vyrn: Nah, it's cool. Not like it's your fault anyway.
Lyria: But why was so Felluca so angry to begin with...
Rackam: I was wondering the same. It didn't exactly look like a happy reunion.
Nemone: Ah...
Makakiu: Lady Nemone, Lady Melleau. You remember, don't you.
Nemone: Gulp...
Melleau: Mm...
Lyria: Did you do something to your sister?
Nemone: I did... something... No, more like everything to her...
Nemone: Maybe it's my fault...
Nemone: "I'm not fit to be queen! You take my place, Nemo! Or call Mell back!"
Nemone: She'd come crying to me about it all the time...
Melleau: But you went ahead and used me to make her the queen anyway.

Makakiu: Lady Nemone did everything she could to instate Lady Felluca as the ali'i.

Makakiu: There are exceptions of course, but I'll spare you the details for now.
Makakiu: There was no way the frail Lady Felluca could have won the tournament. I take it that's why you had a plan in place?
Nemone: Ahaha... You see right through me.
Makakiu: Hohoho. I guess all my experience counts for something.
Nemone: I figured if Melleau won, she'd quickly get tired of the job and leave it to Lulu.
Melleau: I only entered that tournament to kill time to begin with.
Melleau: What a roundabout way of doing things. You might as well have become queen and picked her yourself.
Nemone: It was important that you were the one to choose, Melleau. No one would go along with it otherwise.
Makakiu: Lady Melleau was always known as a prodigy, being called the Divine Demolisher from a young age.
Makakiu's words remind the crew of a conversation with Nemone back on the airship.
Nemone: Now, now, what're you praising me for? You're the one who was once called a child prodigy, Miss Former Queen!
Vyrn: Oh, so you weren't kidding about Melleau being a prodigy, huh...
Nemone: Nyehehe, that's right! Do I have the most amazing little sis or what!
Lyria: But what does that have to do with anything?
Nemone: It's a big difference from someone like me, who no one's ever had expectations for.
Nemone: It's easier to get everyone onboard when someone respected as the village's prodigy does the appointing.
Melleau: Hm, you think so? You're always thinking so many steps ahead.
Melleau: But that's all the more reason you should have spoken to us about it in advance.

Makakiu: All the while spending every day of the past few years doing her job to the best of her ability.

Rackam: So that's what she meant by "after all that's happened," huh...
Nemone: The plan completely backfired... Sigh...
Makakiu: Ohoho, I wouldn't say that.
Lyria: What do you mean?
Makakiu: Your actions did have a positive effect, Lady Nemone.
Makakiu: Lady Felluca has matured tremendously ever since you left.
Makakiu: She's become a brilliant ali'i who always puts the needs of the people before her own.

Makakiu explains that Felluca has outlawed many of the old Kahuan traditions—including wartime activities and the raising of war beasts known as kahua taika—to expand Kahua's economy and modernize its culture. While most praise Felluca in response, Melleau is greatly opposed to these changes.
By the time their conversation settles down a bit, a waitress brings over their food.
The scent of the aromatic spices tickles their noses.
Waitress: Sorry for the wait!
Makakiu: Hohoho. I welcome you all in place of the ali'i.
Makakiu: Please, dig in.
Vyrn: That looks really good! Lovin' the smell already!
Lyria: I've never seen anything like it though. What is it?
Waitress: So this traditional Kahua dish is new to our kanaka'e, I see.
Rackam: Traditional cuisine, eh? Could this be miraka kikini?
Waitress: Oh, so you've heard about it! From Lady Nemone or Lady Melleau perhaps?
Vyrn: Yeah, we sure did...
Melleau: It's a traditional Kahuan stew, made from the milk of our mounts—kahua taika.
Lyria: Did you say stew? I love stew!
Nemone: Nyehehe. Think you can handle it, Lyria?
Lyria: Huh? What do you mean?
Melleau: You'd be surprised. Lulu was knocked out cold after a single sip the first time she tried it.
Vyrn: So this here's the stew that's so bad it makes you pass out?
Melleau: Oh, it's not bad per se. It just takes some getting used to.
Waitress: Ahaha. Enjoy the meal!
Vyrn: Eh, I'm not too sure about that...
Makakiu: C'mon, let's eat up before it gets cold.
Rackam: Psst, what do we do?
Lyria: Huh? Well, Makakiu ordered this just for us, so...
Vyrn: Yeah, I guess it'd be rude not to try it out at least...

And so the crew ready their stomachs for a helping of stew.

Choose: Whoo, this is good!
Rackam: Oh yeah! You can say that again!
Rackam: Is this butter? The flavor of the ingredients blends really well with the milky soup, giving it a rich taste.
Lyria: The meat is so tender, it melts on my tongue... Ah, the happiness in my mouth.
Vyrn: I don't smell any of that beastly scent, and it's not sticky at all!
Vyrn: Nom, nom! I could eat this all day! You two sure had me scared with the way you described the stew!
Nemone: Huh?
Melleau: Hm? Sip...
Nemone: Yummyyy! What is this? I've never had anything like it!
Melleau: Nana, you're sure this is miraka kikini? There's no mistaking it, right?
Makakiu: Hohoho. It's definitely miraka kikini, all right.
Melleau: No way... This isn't the taste I know...
Makakiu: You have your sister, the ali'i, to thank for enrichening our cuisine.

Makakiu: Hohoho. As I mentioned earlier, your sister has grown into a wonderful ali'i.
Makakiu: Changing various traditions for the betterment of the village.
Melleau: She's been changing traditions?
Makakiu: Starting with questionable foods like miraka kikini, the ali'i has been ridding us of anything that is either inconvenient or dangerous.
Makakiu: That includes a complete ban on attacks against other island nations.
Makakiu: As a compromise, the Kahuans who live for war have been dispatched elsewhere to serve as mercenaries.
Makakiu: Because Kahuans have a reputation for being especially strong, the ali'i has had great success in the mercenary trade.
Makakiu: We've improved relations with many countries and have secured much funding in the process.
Rackam: The mercenary trade, eh? Sounds like she really thought it through.
Makakiu: She, in turn, used that capital to purchase all sorts of foods and materials—carriages, airships, and speedships being the biggest standouts—to renovate the entire village.
Makakiu: Perhaps also partly due to the ali'i being so open to foreign traditions, Kahua's economy and civilization are flourishing like never before.
Rackam: That explains why so many things are the complete opposite of what Nemone and Melleau told us about...
Makakiu: What I've described to you so far are only a small number of the ali'i's many great accomplishments.
Makakiu: She may even come to be known as the greatest ali'i in the history of Kahua.
Nemone: Way to go, Lulu! I knew you could pull it off!
Nemone: You make me proud to be your little sis! Wouldn't you say so, Melleau?
Melleau: ...
Melleau: Nana. Is that also why we don't see any kahua taika around?
Makakiu: By the ali'i's decree, we've given up our barbaric ways.
Makakiu: Now that Kahua is the picture of peace, there was no need to keep the dangerous and difficult-to-handle kahua taika around anymore.

Lyria: Let's go look for them!
Makakiu: Wait.
Makakiu: Melleau's still reeling from the shock of Kahua's drastic transformation. I can understand how she feels.
Makakiu: I would suggest leaving her be. I'm sure she'll be back after she's had a chance to cool off.
Nemone: Hm, I suppose you're right.
Some time later...
Melleau returns, just as Makakiu had predicted.
Lyria: Melleau! Thank goodness...
Vyrn: Hey, you're covered in mud. Somethin' happen out there?
Melleau: Mm...
Melleau: Mm.
Vyrn: That all you got to say?
Nemone: Melleau... Are you okay?
Melleau: Mm-hm.
Nemone: Let's go see Lulu then. We'll apologize and make up with her.
Melleau: Okey-doke.
Melleau nods and follows the others out of the restaurant.
(Captain) gets an ominous feeling from the expression on Melleau, who remains covered in mud.

When Nemone goes to apologize Felluca, the two reconcile. However, Melleau is unable to forgive Felluca for changing the many traditions of Kahua. Their relationship worsens.
The crew arrives at the castle where Felluca resides.
The guards readily let them pass when they see Makakiu with them.
When they enter the queen's private chambers, Felluca immediately rises from her chair.
Felluca: N-Nemo... Mell...
Nemone: Lulu...
Felluca: Sniff... I... I told you to go back... to not show your face again...
Melleau: ...
Nemone: I'm sorry!
Felluca: Nemo...
Nemone: I... I've never been very good at talking things out.
Nemone: But that's just an excuse.
Nemone: I should've considered your feelings before anything else.
Nemone: I made you queen so you could grow, but I only ended up hurting you...
Nemone: I hope you'll forgive me one day, Lulu.
Felluca: Sob...
Felluca: Sniff... I...
Felluca: You don't know how much I've wanted you two by my side...
Nemone: You always were our pampered big sis.
Felluca: If you knew, then you should've come to see me earlier...

Seeing an argument breakout between the two sisters, Makakiu, who leads the senate, orders them to undergo a hailona. Seeing the fear in Felluca's eyes and Nemone looking troubled, (Captain) and company are unsure how to react.

Rackam: Who the hell are you guys?
Nemone: It's the senate, a group of very important people in the village. They're the only ones allowed to give counsel to the queen.
Felluca: Um... Why is everyone here?
Makakiu: I believe the answer is obvious, Ali'i.
Lyria: Makakiu!
Makakiu: Really now. After all I did trying to smooth things over...
Felluca: Nana...
Felluca: I-I'm so sorry. I'm still really confused, and...
Makakiu: We could hear the argument all the way from outside.
Makakiu: It's a shame to see that the matter has only been exacerbated.
Felluca: Augh...
Melleau: Mm...
Makakiu: I didn't think I'd have to get the senate involved in breaking up this fight.
Nemone: Nana! You don't mean...

Paliuli Pararaiha - Chapter 3: Ku Atua - Episode 1
A "hailona" refers to the Kahuan tradition of traversing through the cave of a dark, far-off island to receive divine oracle. The oracle will decide who is right between Melleau and Felluca, and must be followed by all in Kahua. The crew agrees to accompany the sisters for this hailona.
Vyrn: Hey...
Felluca: Eep!
Vyrn: Sigh... What's this "hailona" thing that everyone's freaking out about?
Melleau: A test of courage.
Rackam: Huh?
Melleau: We have to go inside a dark cave on a solitary island away from Kahua.
Lyria: Is... Is that all?
Melleau: Well, we have to go deep inside to get an oracle from our god.
Melleau: It's a Kahuan custom.
Melleau: The queens of Kahua always sought divine oracles when they needed guidance.
Nemone: An oracle is absolute... Everyone in the village will accept it without question.
Rackam: So that god's supposed to tell you who's right between Melleau and Felluca, huh?
Rackam: What I don't get is why that's creeping everyone out.
Vyrn: I was expectin' a total bombshell, but I guess we held our breath for nothing.

And so the crew joins Felluca on an expedition to the cave.

While on the way to the cave, the crew learns about a small yet speedy traditional airship known as mataatua. Rackam expresses interest in seeing them, but it turns out Felluca has already ordered the mataatua dismantled in the name of modernization. Rackam grows concerned about her refusal of all tradition.
The following day, the crew make for the cave with Nemone taking the lead.
On the way there, Melleau proudly boasts.
Melleau: Hey, did you know? I bet you didn't know this.
Lyria: Hm? Know what?
Melleau: Haha. In Kahua, we have something really neat for times like these.
Melleau: We seek the hailona by means of a special airship.
Lyria: A special airship?
Melleau: It's said that an airship called a mataatua is used to reach the cave.
Nemone: Haven't heard that one in a while!

Rackam: An airship? Now you're talking my language. Tell us more about it.
Nemone: They're super small ships made from Kahuan lumber! Possibly smaller than even mini-speedships!

They light a torch to proceed through the pitch-black darkness.

As Kahua is restored to its former state before the coup, the crew prepares to set off.

Makakiu: Our apologies for getting you mixed up in Kahua's affairs.
Rackam: Nah, it's fine. We're used to this sort of stuff.
Vyrn: Hope you guys continue to get along after we take off.
Makakiu: Of course. With the kahua taika back, we will not stray again.
Kowa: We've returned. Kahua is home.
Ka'ie: We are just as much a part of Kahua as everyone else. We will support the village and our ali'i going forward.
Felluca: Nemo, Mell... Take care of yourselves.
Melleau: So you won't try to keep us here.
Felluca: I think I can manage without depending on you two for everything.
Felluca: I've learned from my mistakes and am going to work with everyone to build a better Kahua.
Melleau: You sure you'll be okay? I see tears in your eyes.

Felluca: Besides, haere mai is an important part of Kahuan tradition.

(Captain) and company are delighted to see the three sisters of Kahua reconciled.
