A Girl in Hesitation

While the others are out at the beach, Jessica joins Heles and Tien for tea on the patio. The three of them share their concerns over their younger brothers, encouraging Jessica to continue working on her relationship with Ayer.

The crew is in Auguste for their long-awaited summer vacation.
Invited out to the patio of the beach house by some fellow crew members, Jessica sits down and joins the conversation.
Jessica: This fruit tea is scrumptious! Not too sweet and not too sour.
Heles: Indeed. The cut fruit in the glass jug gives it just the perfect visual as well. Very refreshing.
No version of Heles in crew

It was Heles, the former princess of Irestill Kingdom, who had invited Jessica out to the patio for tea.
Having given control of the country to her people and the Great Court, she now travels together with (Captain) and the crew as a trusted companion.
Heles is holding a tea party on the beach house patio as a way for everyone to bond.
Tien: Wow, they really take this tea thing seriously. So this is what they call resort life, huh?
Tien not in crew

Tien is a member of the Eternals, a powerful crew widely known across the skydom.
(Captain) and the others first came across Tien during the incident with the eals.
Heles: I suppose they want to welcome their guests by adding that special touch to even the smallest of things.
Jessica: That's true—we are in Auguste after all! The only place in all of Phantagrande where you can enjoy the beach.
Jessica: And you must be looking for a special vacation experience if you're coming all the way to a resort.
Tien: A special vacation experience...
Jessica: Shall I go get this refilled? Do you two want—
As Jessica starts to get up, glass jug in hand, she catches a glimpse of (Captain) and the others out of the corner of her eye.
Lyria: Ayer! Come on!
Ayer: Okay, I get it! Look where you're going, Lyria... You too, (Captain).
Jessica: ...
Tien: Hm? What's the matter, Jessica?
Heles: Oh, it appears (Captain) and the others are heading toward the beach.
Heles: And that boy with them, Ayer... I believe that would be your brother, Jessica?
Tien: Oh! Did you want to go with them, Jessica? We didn't mean to steal you away.
Jessica: Oh, no, not at all!
Jessica: Um, well...
Heles: Jessica, allow me to refill the jug.
Jessica: Oh, um... Thank you.
Handing the jug over to Heles, Jessica relaxes and sits down again.
Jessica: Sorry about that.
Tien: Don't worry about it. Did something happen?
Jessica: It's more like something I realized.
Jessica: You see, I used to be so worried about Ayer that I would follow his every move.
Jessica: But he's grown up and can take care of himself now, so he doesn't need me to look out for him anymore.
Jessica: That's why I keep telling myself I have to let go. I've been trying to do that, but...
Tien: I see...
Tien: I can understand that. Things change as you leave childhood behind, don't they?
Heles: As an older sister, you just can't help but focus on the things about your brother that haven't changed.
Heles: That could lead to treating him like a child... which is perhaps not the best way to go.
Tien: Hmm. Since Feower and I are twins, we don't really treat each other like children.
Tien: But now that you mention it, I think there are some ways in which he's matured more than I have. And the reverse, as well.
Jessica: I guess nobody stays the same forever, huh?
There's also the fact that we were separated for a while, so I can't help but notice the changes even more.
Jessica: I have to let go so I don't end up putting pressure on him...
Tien: Mm...
Jessica: I want to be a good older sister that Ayer can depend on, but... it's tough.
Tien: A good older sister...
Tien: Feower and I don't know which of us was born first.
Tien: But Feower tends to let his temper get away with him, so the older kids always told me to act as the big sister and look out for him.
Tien: At the same time, maybe me being in that position put Feower through some unnecessary hardship.
Jessica: Unnecessary hardship...
Heles: Hehe. Seruel would never say that I was a good older sister.
Jessica: What? He wouldn't?
Heles: To him, I'm just an annoying, selfish nag.
Heles: Of course, to me, he's still a shy, stubborn, and difficult younger brother.
Tien: Hehe. The two of you really get along.
Heles: But in a sense, that's what makes us truly siblings—sticking together and helping one another through the ups and downs.
Heles: After our mother, the queen, passed away, we had the responsibility of supporting our father.
Heles: If it wasn't for that, for all we know, we might be fighting over the throne now, or even worse...
Jessica: Heles...
Heles: We can't change the fact that we're brothers and sisters, and we can't change the things that have happened.
Heles: That's exactly why we have to stay true to our feelings, and act on those instead.
Jessica: Stay true to our feelings... Yes, you're right.
Jessica: Besides, I have no way of knowing what Ayer thinks about my actions.
Jessica: So once I let go of him, I'll just have to trust that my decision will be better for the both of us.
Tien: Getting too worked up about it might get tiring...
Tien: But... Yeah.
Tien: You were born into this world as siblings. It'd be nice if you could work together to make the best out of it.
Jessica: Yeah...
Jessica gazes out at the shore where Ayer and the crew are playing, and nods.

A Girl in Hesitation: Scene 2

(Captain) and the others come back from the beach, and together with Jessica they head out to the food stalls in their yukatas. Jessica finds herself looking after the others, but hesitates to impose on Ayer. She tells (Captain) the reason for her hesitation.

Vyrn: We're back!
Jessica: Welcome back, all of you. Done playing already?
Lyria: Apparently it's going to be high tide soon, so we decided to come back and take a break!
Jessica: I see! Well, you've been running outside a lot, so let's get you a drink of water first.
Vyrn: Thanks! Hey, that means you too, Ayer!
Ayer: Sure. I swam pretty far, so I'm gettin' hungry.
Vyrn: Me too... My stomach's about to rumble like thunder before a storm!
Lyria: Oh! Why don't we put on our yukatas and take a look at the food stalls then?
Lyria: You're welcome to come with us, Jessica! Right, (Captain)?
Jessica: Hehe. Thank you for your invitation, Lyria. (Captain).
Jessica: I would love to join you. Let me help you with your yukata!
Lyria: Thank you so much, Jessica! That would be great!
Vyrn: All right, then time to go get changed! I'll be waiting right here!
Jessica: Thank you, Vyrn. We won't be long.
Jessica: And wrap this around here... There we go. All done, Lyria!
Lyria: Yay! Thank you, Jessica!
Jessica: You're very welcome! Hehe, you look so cute with this hairstyle.
Lyria: Heehee.
Ayer: Man, girls sure take their time...
Ayer: What? Waiting will be worth it, you say?
Ayer: Oh please, save it. Where did you even get that from?
Jessica: Hm? What's the matter, Ayer?
Ayer: Nothing.
Jessica: All right then...
Vyrn: Okay! Let's head out to the food stalls!
Lyria: Yeah!
At the food stalls, the group fills up on their favorite foods.
Vyrn: Nom nom... Hey! This grilled squid is really good!
Jessica: Hehe, that's great, Vyrn!
Wait, you've got sauce here...
Vyrn: Oof. Thanks!
Jessica: Hehe, you're welcome!
Hm? (Captain), that's the matter?
Jessica: Oh, you burnt your tongue on the hot soup? Here, drink this. It's water.
Jessica: If your soup's too hot, you can blow on it before you drink it, like this.
Jessica: There, that should be better. Here you go! Be careful next time, okay?
Lyria: Ahh!
Jessica: Oh no! Are you all right, Lyria? Your hairdo fell apart, huh?
Jessica: I'm sorry, let me fix that for you.
Here, can you hold your plate out away from your hair, please?
Lyria: I'm the one who's sorry! I was bending down to eat and my hair fell into it.
As they sit at the table enjoying their food, Jessica keeps herself busy looking after everyone.
Jessica: Hmmm...
Ayer: Huh? What's up, Sis?
Jessica: Oh! It's nothing!
(I did it again... I was looking over to see if Ayer had spilled anything...)
Ayer: ...?
Vyrn: Phew, that was delicious! I could go for more though.
Ayer: Me too. You up for a second round?
Vyrn: Yeah!
Ayer and I will be right back, (Captain)!
(Captain) nods at Ayer and Vyrn before going back to tackling the soup.
Jessica: ...
Oh! What's wrong, (Captain)?
Jessica: Huh? I'm the one who looks like something's wrong? Hehe. Am I that easy to read, (Captain)?
Jessica: I'm trying my best not to bother Ayer by constantly checking up on him... So I'm training myself to let go.
Jessica: I'm finding it pretty hard... But I'll do my best so Ayer won't feel pressured.
  1. You should just pamper me instead!
  2. You should just do what you want to do!

Choose: You should just pamper me instead!

Jessica: Hehe, oh (Captain)!
Jessica: Hmm, but if you say so, then I'll do just that!
Jessica: Pass me the soup and spoon. Open wide!
Lyria: Hey! (Captain), don't get too spoiled!
Jessica: Hehe! Would you like me to feed you too, Lyria?
Lyria: Really? Yay!
Jessica: Open wide!
Lyria: Mm, this is really good! It tastes even better when someone is spoiling you, doesn't it, (Captain)?
Jessica: Hehe.

Jessica: What I want to do...
Jessica: I want to be a good older sister. To Ayer, and to everyone else too.
Jessica: But I guess just doing everything for someone isn't necessarily good for them, huh?
Jessica: Just doing it for my own satisfaction doesn't work.
Jessica: So I'm going to try harder than that!

(Captain), Lyria, and Jessica continue to enjoy themselves as they patiently wait for Vyrn and Ayer's return.

A Girl in Hesitation: Scene 4

The men are successfully chased off by the crew, and while Jessica feels bad for having caused trouble for the others, Ayer tells her not to apologize since they're family. Jessica is happy to hear his words, and the two siblings continue to grow closer with time.

Flirtatious Guy: Uuurgh...
(Captain), Jessica, and Ayer finish knocking the guys down.
Jessica: Goodness... You should be ashamed!
Frivolous Guy: I-I won't forget this!
Ayer: Heh. Well, I sure will.
Jessica: Phew...
Jessica: (Captain). Ayer and Vyrn, you too. Thank you for saving us back there.
Lyria: Thank you so much! That was so scary...
(Captain) takes Lyria's hand and breathes a sigh of relief.
Jessica: I'm surprised you knew where to find us though!
Ayer: It was thanks to your hopeless sense of direction.
Jessica: Huh?
Vyrn: You were running around the food stalls for a while, right? The people there said they saw ya!
Vyrn: When we came out of the haunted house, people told us there'd been some kinda ruckus, and that you ran out here.
Ayer: Yeah, so it was pretty easy tracking you guys down. Saved us a lotta time.
Jessica: Huh! I guess having no sense of direction can come in handy too. Thanks for coming to save us.
Jessica: And... I'm really sorry for all the trouble. I ended up raining on everyone's parade...
Ayer: You don't hafta apologize, Sis. It's not like you wanted this to happen.
Ayer: Anyway, don't worry about it. We're family, after all.
Jessica: ...!
Jessica: Ayer... Hehe, you're right. We are family.
Ayer: ...
In any case, I'm thirsty from all the runnin'.
Jessica: Well then, why don't we head back to the food stalls and get ourselves something to drink? My treat!
Vyrn: Ooh, really?
Jessica: Of course! Choose whatever you like.
Vyrn: Hooray! Let's go, (Captain)!
(Captain) and Lyria lead the way, hand in hand.
Jessica: You too, Lyria. Get yourself a drink and relax!
Lyria: Thank you, Jessica!
Let's share something, (Captain)! What would you like?
Jessica: You used to like the apple juice with pulp in it, didn't you, Ayer?
Ayer: Oh, yeah... I might have.
Jessica: What do you like now?
You can tell me later, when you feel like it.
Ayer: Sure. If I remember.
Jessica: Hehe.
Slowly but surely, the distance between the two siblings grows shorter with time.
With that bond and determination, the two of them will continue protecting their friends, as well as each other.
