The shell of the primal beast Elpis, created as an ultimate weapon to destroy the Sky Realm. It stores the invisible energy generated every time Elpis manifests an ideal, condensing it into destructive energy. Agonia's physical body is a colossal clay doll resembling a nepsis, and can shift itself according to the appearance and traits of Elpis's vessel. After Hippolytus separated the shell from Elpis, it had been smashed to pieces and buried underneath a research lab that had existed at the time. Many years later, NERV headquarters was manifested at this exact location, consequently becoming Elpis's target.
