Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 1
As (Captain) and company fight through monsters on their the way to the village, Katalina realizes that the monsters appear to be defending something—something that Lyria describes as an old and powerful force.
Setting out for the village in the center of the island, (Captain) and the others proceed through the monster-infested mountains.
Katalina: Hyaaah!
Monster: Graaagh!
Katalina: Phew! This island looks like a pleasant enough place, but there are monsters everywhere—even up here in the mountains.
Katalina: There seems to be something different about the way these monsters fight. Though it might just be my imagination...
Katalina: But it feels like they're protecting something. Or is it just my imagination?
Sturm: I'd say it's just you. Monsters are monsters wherever you go.
Drang: Don't mind her. Her sharp sword is to make up for her dull wits!
Drang: Oww!
Lecia: Why do you think Drang always says stuff like that when he knows what it'll get him?
Io: Don't ask me. Maybe he actually enjoys the pain?
Lyria: I didn't notice it when we were here before, as there were so many other things going on...
Lyria: But I do feel a strong power coming from this island. It's old and powerful, yet somehow different from the primal beasts.
Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 1: Scene 2
Katalina and Lyria both sense something strange on the island, yet Vyrn feels nothing but nostalgia. However, when he tries to reveal something important, another wave of monsters comes in to interrupt.
Rackam: So how about it, Vyrn? Do you feel anything?
Vyrn: Just nostalgia, I'm afraid. Nothing more than that at the moment.
Eugen: I see.
Vyrn: Yeah... sorry. I just...
Eugen: Hey, stop it right there! This isn't like you at all!
Eugen: You've got nothing to apologize for.
Vyrn: Actually, guys, look... There's something I need to—
Monster: Groooar!
Eugen: Hold that thought! We can talk once this fight is over!
Vyrn: ...
Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 2
The villagers are extremely happy to see one of their own return and welcome the whole group with open arms. However, before any celebration can commence, the party heads to (Captain)'s old house to look for clues about the seal on Vyrn's powers.
The party crosses the mountains and finally reaches the village where (Captain) and Vyrn were raised.
As soon as the villagers see (Captain) and Vyrn, they surge forward in a wave, overjoyed at the return of the skyfarers.
Villager: Welcome back! We haven't heard anything from you for so long...
Villager: Considering how things were when you left, we've all been so worried. But by the looks of things, you've done well under the circumstances.
Villager: I should have known you'd take after your father! Adventuring across the skies suits you far more than staying put on this island.
Villager: And Vyrn, you've hardly changed. Although maybe you look a little more lizard-like now?
Vyrn: Not this again! I ain't no lizard!
Villager: Hahaha! Sorry, I'm only teasing you! You're just the same as always.
Katalina: These villagers clearly care for you both so much, (Captain).
Katalina: And look what we did... Dragged you into our mess and took you away from all of this.
Choose: I'm grateful to you, Katalina.
Katalina: Really? That's kind of you to say.
Katalina: That makes me feel better, I must admit.
Choose: It's all the empire's fault.
Katalina: You're always so cool-headed.
Katalina: I think that's what allows you to lead the crew so capably.
Continue 1Villager: Come on then! You must be exhausted from your long travels.
Villager: We don't have a great deal here, but please, relax and enjoy yourselves.
Lecia: Ah, thank you, but... we're kind of in a hurry.
Rackam: Hold on. It would be rude to turn down such a warm welcome, wouldn't it?
Io: Hey! Let's at least take a look at the house Vyrn used to live in!
Io: There might be some clues there about the seal.
Vyrn: What? In our old home? Hmmm, not sure we'll find much there.
Io: Sometimes you just need fresh pairs of eyes on these things! Come on, show us to your house!
With (Captain) in the lead, the crew heads off toward the house.
However, Katalina can't help but feel something out of place with (Captain)'s seemingly ordinary house.
Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 3
Awaiting inside the house are Loki, claiming to be the emperor of Erste and among the last of the Astrals, and a primal beast called Fenrir. Loki unexpectedly unleashes the hungry Fenrir onto the villagers.
Katalina: Hold on. Something's wrong here.
As the party heads toward (Captain)'s house in order to find clues about the seal on Vyrn, Katalina calls them to a halt.
Rackam: What do you mean? Nothing looks wrong to me. It's just a house!
Katalina: The building, sure. But I sense someone inside.
Vyrn: What? Impossible! We're the only ones who've ever lived there!
Vyrn: Hold on! Could it be your dad? Has he come back?
Katalina: Vyrn! Hold on, Vyrn!
Without heeding Katalina's warning, Vyrn hurries into (Captain)'s house.
Awaiting inside is someone most unexpected.
???: Hello there, little lizard. Sorry I let myself in.
Vyrn: The heck?
???: My, my...
The others rush into the house after Vyrn, and all are equally surprised.
Orchis: Who... are you?
???: Oh dear. You have to ask me that? Well, I guess you can't be blamed for forgetting.
Orchis: Forgetting... what? Do we know each other?
???: Our roles are now somewhat reversed, I'll give you that. But allow me to introduce myself.
Loki: My name is Loki. The last of the proud Astrals who once ruled these skies.
Loki: The first emperor of the Erste Empire. Nice to meet you.
Eugen: One of the Astrals? Emperor? This is too much!
Drang: Hey, that's not even funny! Didn't anyone ever teach you not to lie, kid?
Drang: We know the score. You can't trick us!
Drang: The Erste Empire was born from the Erste Kingdom, and the only remaining member of that royal bloodline is Orchis.
Loki: Is that so? Are you not talking about the ancestral line of Orchis's mother?
Loki: Byleistr, the husband of the last queen of Erste Kingdom and Orchis's father, was my brother.
Loki: Doesn't that give me the right to the throne of Erste?
Lyria: You're Orchis's father's brother?
Orchis: My uncle?
Loki: That's right. Hello, niece.
Loki: One little thing though, Orchis. I completely, utterly, and deeply hate you to the core. So never ever, ever, call me that again.
Orchis: ...
???: Come on, Loki! Enough chitchat! You talk far too much!
Loki: Ah, I'm sorry! I have indeed been very rude.
Loki: This is my pet, Fenrir—a primal beast.
Loki: I hope you'll overlook her obscene lack of training. We're still working on that.
Fenrir: Hey! Don't make fun of me.
Fenrir: So can I eat these guys or what?
Loki: Oh, I should have guessed that would be your next question! Hungry already, are we?
Fenrir: Shut up! You're the one who dragged this out with all your talking!
Loki: All right, all right. You can go and find a snack outside. There's plenty of food walking around.
Fenrir: You sure?
Loki: Yes, I'm sure. They do call this place Hermit Island after all.
Loki: No one will pay any attention even if this entire village is wiped out.
Katalina: The entire village? Just what are you planning!
Fenrir: Hehehe! No need to hold myself back now!
Rackam: S-she vanished?
Villager: Aaaaah!
Katalina: What's going on out there!
Loki: Heh heh. Fenrir must be starving.
Loki: Whoops... Forgot to tell her to mind her manners while eating.
Eugen: H-hey... What's with this kid? He's off his rocker!
Rackam: This is bad! We need to save the villagers, (Captain)!
Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 4
Loki seems to extract considerable enjoyment from watching the salty exchange between Fenrir and the crew. (Captain) and the others, angered by the sheer insanity of the pair, band together to fight them off.
(Captain) and the others confront the primal beast Fenrir in order to defend the villagers.
Fenrir: Tch... Get out of my way, or I'll have to eat you first!
Katalina: We won't back down no matter what you say!
Fenrir: I love it when dinner puts up a fight. I'm going to start with a little of... you!
Loki: Fenrir! Stop that. I told you—we're playing the long game.
Loki: They are our enemies. That's far more important than food. We have to enjoy our time with them.
Rackam: Enjoy? You're rotten to the core, aren't you!
Loki: Ahaha! That's it, just what I want to hear! This sort of exciting exchange! Banter between foes!
Loki: Fenrir. Come on, you have some fun too. Taunt them a little!
Fenrir: Loki! I told you not to make fun of me!
Loki: Fenrir. We've talked about this little attitude problem.
Loki: Understand, Fenrir? Do you understand that I'm telling you to enjoy yourself?
Fenrir: Bah...
Lecia: What in the skies are you doing here, Loki?
Loki: Oh, nothing much, just to say hello... and to make a vow to you.
Loki: A vow that I am your enemy as well as an enemy of this sky. Just you remember that.
Lecia: Enemies. That's what we are, is it. Then we'll have to respond accordingly.
Loki: Heh heh, I would expect no less! Come, Fenrir, let's see what they've got.
Loki: You need to enjoy your meals more. Take time to enjoy the flavors; savor the delicate notes!
Fenrir: Gah. I don't care about that. You can have fun for the both of us, Loki.
Fenrir: All I need to do is eat my fill.
Fenrir: Now I'm going to tear you to shreds!
Act 1: Girl in Blue - Chapter 46: The Emperor of Erste - Episode 4: Scene 2
Loki lets the crew win, after which he issues a few more warnings with a confident smile, then leaves with Fenrir. The crew is concerned about the appearance of this new threat.
(Captain) and the others manage to win the fierce battle against Loki and Fenrir.
However, Fenrir is unfazed and continues to spout colorful interjections.
Fenrir: Loki! I've had enough of this! Take these chains off me!
Loki: I can't do that, Fenrir. The chains are still required.
Loki: All this fighting is the way things should be. Foe against foe—perfect chaos.
Fenrir: You're so weird! It doesn't fill your belly, so why does this stuff make you so happy?
Loki: Heh heh. That was a lot of fun, and now we'll just be on our way. I bid you adieu.
Loki: Ah, one last warning. You won't find everybody you face to be as patient as me.
Loki: So take your time, but in the end you'll find that you still lose the thing you fight to protect.
Eugen: What's that supposed to mean?
Loki: I wonder. Give it some thought! We're leaving, Fenrir.
Fenrir: Humph...
Loki gently wiggles his fingers, and light envelops the surrounding area.
(Captain) and company are blinded by the brightness, and when they open their eyes again, the pair of foes has vanished.
Rackam: Man. Just who are those two?
Lecia: A greeting and a vow... Are those really the only reasons they came here?
Eugen: An Astral is the emperor of Erste Empire? That's big news... and bad news too!
Katalina: He was pretty insistent that we're his enemy.
Katalina: Which means we probably haven't seen the last of them.
(Captain) and the others are concerned about the appearance of this new threat.
The negativity spawned by the history of the sky and the stars looms before them like an insurmountable wall.
